How To Protect Form Control Button With Password
Jul 21, 2014
I have made an excel sheet for multiple choice questions, in which person needs to click on submit button after completing with the test & pop up will say "Your score is__". Now, I want to want to add one more button named "Reset". I want below :
results:
1. Person should not be able to make any changes after clicking on "Submit" button.
2. If one tries to click on "Reset" button, it should ask for password.
3. After keying password for "Reset" button, all questions should be reset so that next person can give test.
I have attached an example excel sheet for reference : DoM1.xlsm

I have coded a user form to automatically unprotect a sheet, then protect it with a password after data is entered from the User Form. Works great. However, after it is protected through the User Form script, I cannot unprotect the sheet to edit it. It will not recognize that it is the correct password, although it is.
Private Sub cmdOK_Click()
Dim NextRow As Long
NextRow = Application.WorksheetFunction.CountA(Range("b:b")) + 2
Cells(NextRow, 2) = txtAddProvider.Text
ActiveSheet.Unprotect Password = "stats@fwh"
Range("B3:B21").Select
Selection.AutoFilter
Selection.AutoFilter
ActiveWorkbook.Worksheets("Lists").AutoFilter.Sort.SortFields.Clear
ActiveWorkbook.Worksheets("Lists").AutoFilter.Sort.SortFields.Add Key:=Range( _
"B3:B21"), SortOn:=xlSortOnValues, Order:=xlAscending, DataOption:= _
xlSortNormal
With ActiveWorkbook.Worksheets("Lists").AutoFilter.Sort
.Header = xlYes
.MatchCase = False
.Orientation = xlTopToBottom
.SortMethod = xlPinYin
.Apply
End With
ActiveSheet.Protect Password = "stats@fwh"
End Sub

I've got a toggle button that is clicked to hide the score details (using a macro). I need this button to have some sort of password protection because only I should be able to see the score!
I've tried to use the '.protect .unprotect' function, but its not doing exactly what I want it to so Im not sure I even need it there!
Here is my code..
Option Explicit
Private Sub ToggleButton1_Click()
Sheet1.Unprotect
With Range("78:88").EntireRow
.Hidden = Not .Hidden
End With
Sheet1.Protect
End Sub

I have a sheet that is password protected. I have this code attached to a command button. It will unlock the worksheet, autofilter it, print it, unfilter it, and password protect the sheet again. However it is protecting it without a password. I need to have it protected with the password so that someone will not be able to just go to tools to unprotect the sheet.
Private Sub CommandButton1_Click()
ActiveSheet.Unprotect "rainforest"
Columns("O:O").Select
Selection.AutoFilter
Selection.AutoFilter Field:=1, Criteria1:=">0", Operator:=xlAnd
ActiveWindow.SelectedSheets.PrintOut Copies:=1, Collate:=True
Selection.AutoFilter Field:=1
Selection.AutoFilter
ActiveSheet.Protect DrawingObjects:=True, Contents:=True, Scenarios:=True _
, AllowSorting:=True, AllowFiltering:=True
End Sub

My boss has come to me and asked how does she get her file to go back to the way it was before, she had a password on the file but you used to be able to click on a button that said "Read only" this button no longer appears and i am unable to get it back. I still get the password box pop up but it is smaller and does not contain the read only button.

I have several files with form control buttons that automate functions but, on occasion, they get smaller relative to the worksheet they're in. At some point, they become unuasable unless they're manually resized.

I have a rather large sheet with lots of embedded form control buttons, each one with a document link. Is there a function (no VBA) to search for a specific form control button in excel? for example: i want to find the form control button which is linked to the "application" document.

Is it possible to configure the workbook so the user can view the data in the worksheet from the form and I can hide the actual worksheet so that the data in the workshhet cannot be changed? Or maybe there is a better way all together??
I am attaching a copy of the worksheet.
Second, Is there a better way to input a code that would allow a search for duplicates in certain fields to be flagged (other than the color coding?)

So I have a sheet with a lot of formulas and form control buttons that have been assigned macros.
When I go to protect certain cells and lock them and the activate sheet protection, suddenly my form control buttons with the assigned macros don't work.
I still need to protect some cells with formulas and don't want to leave the whole worksheet unprotected, but in order to allow the form control button macros to run, it appears that's what I have to do....or, is there another way to do this?

Instead of having the goals and objectives already in the form I would like to have buttons that would allow my clinicians to add as many goals and objectives as they'd like to the attached treatment plan. I'd like them to be able to click a delete button as well when they review the plan and need to delete a goal that's been met. When my team clicks into the second worksheet they would see rows 10-16 (below). They would then type a STG 1 and an Obj A. They then would click the Add Obj button and add as many objectives that they needed. Then when they clicked the add goal button a blank copy of rows 10-16 (including the Add Obj button) would pasted one row down and would update to read STG 2. Neither of these buttons would appear when the document printed.
Here is a screen scrape of what I'd like the attached form to look like before goals and objectives are added.
add goal.jpg
The original form is saved in an .xltm format but I saved it in an .xlsm format so I could upload it here.
HCT ITP (2-25-14) Abbr.xlsm
I found a thread on this forum that came close to answering my question but my attempts to pull out the coding that I needed was unsuccessful. Here's a link to the thread: [URL] ........

I have never written or used a macro before and I have a simple macro task to complete:
I have Column L (L4:L10) of seven scroll bars that move according to number changes in column F (F4:F10). I want to create a form control command button that resets the changes on the scroll bars according to static column of numbers in Column E (E4:E10).
I don't know if it matters, but I'll add that I plan to add a second button that does the same thing with a different column of data. I assume I'll simply replicate whatever procedure I use in the first button - is this okay?

Some sensitive data is held on worksheets that are used by people that do not have access to see the data.
It would be most convenient to keep the data in these worksheets but hide it from view of the users.
Is there a way to password protect a users ability to unhide a column?

I am seeking a method of password protecting worksheets in a workbook. The users would all start on a sheet that has their names (A1 - A10) next to their names would be where they type in their password (B1 - B10). If their password is correct their assigned worksheet (Worksheet2) would be unlocked for editing.

1) I need to have code to protect the sheet that my user form is writing to. In other words, when the information from the user form is populated to the sheet, I want that sheet protected by a password that I set where I can unlock it, but no one else can.
2) I need to protect my VBA code with a password, I do not know how to do this, I have looked everywhere. I do however think this is something simple and I will kick myself once I find out where it is.

I have a workbook that contains a series of macros designed to compare various reports and spit out a report. I don't want my users to have to insert a password, but I want to keep my workbook protected. I've already protected the macros in the VBA Properties, so those are pretty safe, but the worksheets in the workbook are susceptible to changes that will hose my macros.
Setting the workbook to "Read Only" in Properties on our shared drive helps, but any user can change that at will. Within Excel, going to Options, Security, I can set a password so no-one can modify that workbook, but that pops up a password box when they open the workbook. I'd like to NOT have the password box pop up unless I need to make changes. Is there a way to do that? I've looked on the internet but can't find a solution on this one.

I had the thought that maybe it would be possible to have a worksheet that is not protected when saved but when it is opened there would be a sub-routine under Sub_Workbook Open that would step through each sheet and assign a random password. And when the workbook is saved it is saved without passwords again.
In this way there would be nothing for a password cracker to pick at. The only flaw I see would be that the password to open the VBA module would need to be static and this would open up the programming to change and remove. But wouldn't this be effective against most users who would only know about the utilities to open the passwords and not the programming behind excel.

We are making a complex financial calculator that we will let licensees use for a limited time.
The calculator could be an online php form, however we decided to go with excel for its ease to program the code required.
Question is:
Since the licensees are allowed to use the calculator only for a short period of time, we want to be able to password protect it with an expiry date.
Meaning that if they want to use it pass their time limit, they would need to re-enter a new password that we would provide them.
Is there such an application made for excel worksheet?
