I want to import an excel file that has multple columns, however, the first column contains both the Group name and the dates. Is there a way to import this into a table to have each record populate the group to the corresponding date?

Importing Data Into Specific Fields Of A Spreadsheet?

What I am trying to do is to automate a copy-and-paste situation for literally a few thousand items. I am creating .xml files for a scenery builder library for MS Flight Simulator, and unfortunately there isn't an application specifically for FS scenery that will import the data I have and export it into the format I need. In other words, I need to create a form in Excel into which I can automate the importation of data from text files (such as in the first example below) to populate fields (as in the second example), and later create a new text file from the compiled data.

This is an example of the format of the data I need to import:

Excel 2010 :: Insert Column And Add Fields

I have an Excel spreadsheet that where the headings start in row 5. Data starts in row 6.

The spreadsheet is updated frequently. The headings are always the same but the number of lines of data changes.

D5 = Units1 (field contains numbers or is blank)
E5 = Units2 (Field contains numbers or is blank)

I would like to insert a column to the right of Column E and add D + E in the inserted cell. I would like F5 to be called NewUnits.

Some cells in Columns D and E are blank. No cell in Column A is blank. (If cell A6 is the activecell and you press CTRL + Down Arrow Key -- you will get to the last cell with data in Col A. That is not the case if the activecell was E6 as there are blanks.)

I am using Excel 2010.

I have a sheet (sheet 1) of employee information for multiple buildings as follows:

Employee Name, Building, Pay Grade, Full Time Equivalent (of full time hours worked)

Anne, Centre A, Anne, Grade 2, 1.0

Carl, Centre H, Carl, Grade 2, 0.60
Dan, Centre B, Dan, Grade 1, 1.0

From another sheet (sheet 2), I wish to populate the total of "Full Time Equililents" at each grade in each centre, eg:

CENTRE, GRADE 1, GRADE 2, GRADE 3
Centre A, 0 1.4 1.0
Centre B, 2.0 0 0
etc,etc,etc

I'm using Excel 2003 if that makes a difference

- The macro should then try to find this data on the worksheet "Sheet2" in the same workbook. This data on Sheet2 is essentially a table with four columns "Number" (Col A), "Country" (Col B), "Consol" (Col C) and "Bypass" (Col D) but can have around 70k rows

- It should look for Number first, and if its not found, the macro should insert the message "Update OK" in cell A8 on Sheet1

- If it finds at least 1 row for the Number but the Country is the same for all the rows and it matches the value input for Country on Sheet1, then it insert the message "Multiple Records - Update OK" in cell A8 on Sheet1

- If it finds at least 1 row for the Number but the Country is the same for all the rows and it does not match the value input for Country on Sheet1, and if all Bypass fields in Sheet2 have "Y" but the Bypass field input on Sheet1 has "N", then put "Multiple Records - Update OK" in cell A8 on Sheet1

- If it finds at least 1 row for the Number but the Country is the same for all the rows and it does not match the value input for Country on Sheet1, and if all Bypass fields in Sheet2 have "N" but the Bypass field input on Sheet1 has "Y", then put "Multiple Records - Bypass - Do Not Update" in cell A8 on Sheet1

- If it finds at least 1 row for the Number but the Country is the same for all the rows that have a Bypass value of "N" and it does match the value input for Country on Sheet1 then put "Multiple Records - No Need to Update" in cell A8 on Sheet1

Excel 2010 :: Importing Data That Has Imbedded Cost Center Subtotals - Move To Column

I am trying to create a Dashboard in excel (2010) using tables/pivot tables to build it. The data I am bringing into excel has these key fields of data: cost center+cost center description, general ledger account+general ledger account description, and YTD amount.

My problem is the data is from an external source report and the report has subtotals built in at cost center, and the report's format of subtotaling puts the cost center first and then the general ledger accounts below. There is no
formula value in the cell that has the subtotaled amount and the number of general ledger accounts can vary depending on whether there has been general ledger activity.

I want to take this format:
July YTD
Cost Ctr 1050 XYZ$6.00
625110 Supplies$2.00
650150 Postage$2.00
650550 Fees$2.00
Cost Ctr 1052 ZZZ$4.00
670500 Pens$2.00

and have it look like this

Besides manually doing data moves and assigning a unique sort sequence number to keep the records together, how else can I quickly move my cost centers to a new column and keep the cost center with the gl account and $amount?

Populating Fields In Multiple Cells Based On Criteria In Multiple Columns?

Im struggling to find a formula to populate cells based on values to be checked in two fields (ICODE, COMPANY) as shown below.

In the example here, all records where ever the ICODE = 49, i need to populate the fields(columns) AD1,AD2,AD3 or AD4 with the product name of the same company where the ICODE <> 49. There could be between 1-7 products per company.

Programming Multiple Inputs With Multiple Data Fields

I am trying to set up a "diet log" for my nephew to track his eating habits for a school project. I am trying to make the "total" section of the attached spread sheet auto calculating depending on the information placed in the "breakfast / lunch / dinner / snack" catagories. I have two worksheets in the file. The first being the preferred method of a single cell and seperating the items using only a ",". The second sheet has a little bit different lay out which I don't think will work as nicely.

Honestly, I am not sure if this will even be possible, but I figured I would try here as a final resort. Currently there are just some sample foods in there as I will let him fill in the actual workbook for his use.

I have part of macro to import a txt file into excel but it is not working as it should. It is giving me a message "This file is not a recognizable format" but its just a normal txt file. Also after it gives me this warning it will open in excel and with every new txt file it gives me this warning and after it opens it.

The code I am using is:

I have a multilevel XML file. Attached my1.zip (XML files cannot be uploaded as is, hence I had to zip it). When I import the XML into excel, it creates multiple columns for the multilevel data. However, I need the multilevel data as additional rows. I have attached another excel file sample.xlsx which shows how excel imports the XML and how I actually need the data to be.

Importing Multiple CSV Files Into Workbook

I have a workbook that contains over 100 worksheets with stock data and price information. It uses a screenscraper to update the workbook each day with the latest day's price, and then exports each of these .csv files into a local directory. The macro for this is working. In effect it is generating a price history file automatically in my absence for me that can be read by charting software.

What I would like though is a macro to loopthrough and backfill missing price histories on each worksheet. I have a source of .csv price histories already, but would like to avoid having to cut and paste each of the 105 files manually, as it may become a regular occurence.

Each worksheet that requires backfilling has the stock code in the cell "A2", so that can be used to search for the filename Range("A2") & ".csv"

This is as far as I have got - however it results in a runtime error (91) Object variable or With block variable not set, pointing to this line:-

I am troubleshooting my macro that seems to cause a data shift with the Letter "F" when I import multiple CSV files into one spreadsheet. When I go outside of the macro and record a macro and import the CSV into a workbook it works perfectly fine. But there must be something in this code that is causing the shift:

This is a great bit of code (I found), to import multiple text files.

I have one small issue -

currently it imports with each file going to a new column, like this: text file1 A1:A4, txt file2 B1:B4, txt file3 C1:C4 etc etc

And eventually i risk running out of columns because I'm working with a lot of text files.

Can someone tell me what to do to modify this code so it imports like this? :
text file1 A1:D1, txt file2 A2:D2, txt file3 A3:D3 ETC ETC

I have about 1200 text files with data regarding different machines.These file contain a line called 'Validation date" and also the programe number on different line.

I need a macro which will extract this date for each program number and write in excel in two columns like program number and validation date.

I have tried with some of the macro help available on this site,but I have to do this one at a time.The time required doing this way is same as going in each text file and copy/pasting in excel.Is it possible to automate this process.

I am using excel 2003. I have more than 500 text file which are result of some numerical analysis. I have another bunches of the same file number. I can record and play around with macro.

What I want to do is
-copy selected cells from imported text file in excel and paste in new or in first opened excel file. I have recorded macro for one file including importing from text to excell, copy and paste the selected file (look the macro below). But I have more than 500 files and I want to do the macro the same thing for each file in one excell file. Do i have to make one macro for each file??, that takes much more time than manual import and copy paste. The cell position and range to copy is the same, but have to be pasted in new row (in one excel summery file). The file name of each text file is different and all are in the same folder.

My goal is to automate this process and my first thought was to add a button into the access database and have it export to an excel template, but using/editing the access database is not an option, so, that leaves me thinking about automating this process from excel. I'm having a bit of trouble with writing a code which will import a table that i have in Access into excel.

The name of the table is "101_Yearly_Rows" and the only column that i want is the "Tax" column.
