I have created a macro that searches for an existing part in my worksheet and copies the found part to the row above. I would like to increment the value of cells B and H in the new copied row. Both cells contain an alphanumeric string that ends with a numeric value. For example cell B has a string like this "APL-DK0030" and cell H has a string like this "Dell Optiplex GX260 V09"....
I want to create a list from a "seed" word that consists of a word followed by a number (ex: seedword100).
What I want to do is to be able to create a list in Excel using that seed word and then have excel produce a bunch of replications of that seed word by incrementing the number part of the seed word by 1 for every replication.
So, for example, if cell A1 = "seedword100", I want Excel to replicate it up to "seedword199" like this...
Is it possible to increment / decrement cells using wild characters? I've found myself needing to increment values at different position, for e.g. :
ABC-###-FR05-AB ABC-222-FR##-AB C##445-KJ
where I would want to be incrementing # placeholders. It would help if I can give it a start number, and the increment amount (which can be different than 1).
What about possibly extending it a bit more to include two or more place holders at the same time as follows:
ABC##- FR*** (where # would have its own starting number and increment value, and * would have its own).
I am trying to do is extract the volume size of products in 'ml' from 10k plus products from a description field cell. this description field could also contain the weight of the product in grams so I cannot just do a search for a numeric string , it has to be associated with the milli-litres statement .
is is possible to do a sort of ' *ml ' search and then select and copy to another cell ???
I want to the formula to look at the 6th and 6th digit (numeric, alpha-numeric, or Alpha) and compare it with the cells under "'PSCCR Queue - Manager" TAB from C4 thru C7.
Below formula is only looking at the first value when comparing.
Wondering if it is possible to generate a random 4 digit number based off an alphanumeric string?
Example;
Cell A1 has 123XVF1234 Cell A2 has 321AFW4321
In B1 I would like to have a 4-6 digit number that is generated based on the alphanumeric data in Cell A1 (and so on down the list). If that is possible, I would also need to be able to convert back the 4-6 digit number back to its original alphanumeric value
Example;
If B1 returns 643562 it would need to be able to be converted back to 123XVF1234
In this project, the number of values to sum is large and I do not wish to use long formulas to extract the numeric part of each cell within the range. I am also forbidden to use up extra cells as an intermediate working out. Can you help?
I need to sum the numeric portions of any cell containing a certain letter within a row. I found a solution that works if all the cells within my row are either blank or contain a string with the "desired letter" lets say the letter is "a" so that we can compare it to ....
how to retain the values of variables even after closing the workbook...Ref:have created workbook and renamed sheets as Day1,Day2,..,DayN..as and whn new worksheet is created.after saving and closing this application, next time when we open the application and create new worksheet it should create DayN+1.
In my spreadsheet, each row of data in Column B starts with 3 numerics (e.g. 001) followed by some text. For example:
Cell B2 contains '001 - Text for this cell'
Cell B3 contains '002 - Different Text for this cell',
Cell B4 contains '003 - Different Text for this cell', etc.
I have hundreds of rows which follow this format.
I have had to insert several rows in my spreadsheet in between existing rows which has thrown off the numbering in the first three positions of my Column B cells.
Is there any way to update the data in Column B so the text data in each cell is retained but the first 3 numeric values are updated and again sequential?
I have created a simple UserForm to enter new customer details to the Customer List in the spreadsheet, form works fine except for one little thing, which is New Customer ID, which works, but only with numeric values like 1, 2, 3 and so on.
Basically what I need this for to do is once form is opened/called new customer ID need to be created, which could be and Alfa numerical set of characters like AA-01234, AA-01235, AA-01236 and so on.
Also, is there a way of posting newly added Customer ID in the MsgBox along with MsgBox "One record added to Customers List. New Customer ID is "
All of my attempts to create this are failing and causing errors.Here is my code, Customer ID is TextBox1.
I have a rather difficult task to accomplish. What I need is to be able to extract an alphanumeric value from the string. It is a serial number of the equipment and it is always nine alphanumeric characters long. The problem is it can be anywhere in string. Example: “2156545 36 month lease NWL023568 Nancy Clay”. The serial number I need to extract is NWL023568.
I am trying to remove all characters that aren't letters or numbers from a string. Is there any way to differentiate between a non-alphanumeric characters and alphanumeric characters? I'm thinking of something like "ISTEXT()" that I could use on one character at a time. Or are there any wildcards I could use in the Replace function?
I have a list (SIC Codes) and I want to remove the numbers. The numbers range from 2 to 8 deep. The list exists in column B and I want the new list in column C.
01 Agricultural Production Crops 011 Cash Grains 0111 Wheat 0112 Rice 0115 Corn 0116 Soybeans 0119 Cash grains, nec 011901 Pea and bean farms (legumes) 01190101 Bean (dry field and seed) farm 01190102 Cowpea farm 01190103 Lentil farm 01190104 Mustard seed farm
if there is a "-#-" in the string, that is the value I want. If the "-#-" is not present, I would like to take the first number. Currently, as written in your first example, I am getting the first number - excellent and thank you!
In the sku, the first digit reprepresents capacity. If a second number is present after the capacity portion of the sku (i.e. "-#-"), that means that they want to order it filled with less than capacity. For instance, a carton of eggs and they want 6 eggs instead of the max capacity of 12. (i.e. egg12-6-z2z). Numbers after the second octet (i.e. z2z) do not matter.
It would be a number only in the second octet. If there are characters with it, the equation should disregard it.
Here are the scenarios, and what the formula should accomplish
1) egg12 --> currently returns 12 2) egg12-6 --> would return 6 3) egg12-6-g2c --> would return 6 4) egg12-g2c --> would return 12
Have many rows of alphanumeric strings. 2-4 letters followed by a variety of numbers, some spaces, and some additional letters. What I need is to return the first number after the initial 2-4 letters, everything after that first digit is junk. Thus, I would like a formula that takes me from:
I have list of 15000 of Alphanumeric data for ex. ADEDO125ADSD589ADF121,UIEIROIWS12556ERE545,ADAS15455212AD4564AD2 And so on. Now I want to extract word from this alphanumeric. And i want to use only formula not MACRO OR VBA
