Summing Different Datas In Different Woorksheets
May 24, 2007I'd like to perform an operation to make my bookkeeping beter, analysing the situation per client.
I maintain each month on separate sheets, and every expense, or income (let's say in colomn D, is labelled with the name of the client (colomn H).
Is it possible, on another worksheet, to make a function that would calculate the situation per client (and per month) ? It would then be able to make the sum on each month for what has been spent or billed, and this on one or 2 lines....

Naming New Tab Without Knowing Its Name
Feb 16, 2012Is there a way to name a new tab without knowing its name. For instance, when I create a new tab, it could be named "Sheet2" or "Sheet3", but there is sometimes no way to know. Is there a way to edit the name of that new tab without refering to it by name?

Jun 26, 2007I have a master workbook, meeting1.xls which is used on a daily basis. All of the macros saved in this workbook naturally refer to Windows("Meeting1.xls").Activate.
However, I want to be able to open Meeting1.xls save it as a new name (for today's details) and then populate it.....as well as have the Macros pick up that new file name (rather than always looking for Meeting1.xls.)
I've tried saving Meeting1 as a template file and that didn't seem to work either. When I save it as a new name, the macro always searches for the original name.

Macro Knowing Currently Opened Sheet
Mar 19, 2007below you will see my macro. I have a slight problem, everything works perfect, except when I change file names. Basically I keep an electronic backup every day of the file I create. So today's file will be named DOH031907, tomorrow DOH032007, Wednesday DOH 032107, etc. etc. I use the same sheet, including the same Macro every day so it does the same thing. Basically everywhere you see "DOH031907Test.xls" I want it to put the current workbook file name there. I'm new to this kind of stuff but it seems like there is an easy solution.

Apr 5, 2007Without using VBA code, is there a way to display or find the worksheet number of the active worksheet you are viewing? All my sheets have names, and I have a lot of them.
When I want to loop through a set of them with code, I want to know what numbers they are beforehand.
Deleting Sheets Without Knowing The Names

For example a workbook will always have Sheet1, Sheet2, Sheet3, Sheet4... but it can have many other sheets added to it. The names of the sheets can be completely different however the sheets that I want to keep will always have the same name.

Mar 20, 2007I have a nifty formula brought to me by one of the excellent members on this board. It works perfectly for what I want, but I must admit I cheated, I have a problem that was similar to the problem this formula rectified and I find myself not knowing how it works.

What Im wondering is if someone could enlighten me as to what is happening in this function, so Im not as blind to assume it is magic.
Eventually I need it to be customed tailored to work in this way: I have a column of dates, I want it to look at column A and if there is a date in it ADD 4 WEEKDAYS (business days) and return the resulting date.
i.e date in column a is march 19 plus 4 business days. Result in column B march 23.
If someone can explain how this string works that would be great, or if someone could just post a suitable function, that would work for now.
File Download Without Knowing The Full Url (only Indirect Url Available)
Aug 13, 2008have a link such as www.abc.se/downloadfile?file=12345. When opening this link in a browser the DownloadFile window popups and the file can be downloaded.
I would like to be able to download the file without involving the DownloadFile pop up (since some users have auto open enabled thus the downloadfile pop-up is not always shown)
I have tried URLDownloadToCacheFile and similiar methods but they fail as they dont have the direct link to the file.
So my question now is how can I extract the direct url?
There should be a way to capture it since it will be used in the downloadfile dialog.
Lookup Data Without Knowing Return Column
Aug 25, 2006Got a bit of a stinker here. (Well, it is for me anyway. I haven't used Excel in months)!
I want to use a VLOOKUP function (I think) to retrieve data from a list of Exchange Rates on a separate sheet.
The user enters a 'Period' number, selects an 'exchange' variable (the blue text cells). The hope is to lookup the data on the 'FX RATES 06-07' sheet and return the result in the green cells.
I've tried using VLOOKUP but one of the arguements specifies that you nominate a column to return the information - that's the problem, we don't know that information when asking Excel.
Formula To Calculate Speed Knowing Distance, Destination Time And Checkpoint Times
Dec 2, 2008On my spreadsheet i have a bunch of variables:
A1 = Arrival time at Checkpoint 1 - 5:53:08
A2 = Time to destination from Checkpoint 1 - 1:10:18
B1 = Arrival time at Checkpoint 2 - 6:00:56
B2 = Time to destination from Checkpoint - 1:02:30
C1 = Total distance from Start - 2.83
C2 = Arrival Time at Destination - =SUM(A1,A2)
D1 = Speed determined from the other variables
D1 is SUPPOSED to equal 25.00
It also is where I am stumped!!
Not only can I not figure out the math but also how to format the function to get the right answer.
ps: Arrival Time at Destination is only included in case it would be useful to find the answer!
Copy Down Formula Macro Without Knowing How Many Rows To Copy Down
Feb 18, 2008I have a macro that inserts a formula on the first row and then copies it down. The problem is the row count is variable but I know it won't exceed 5000 so I just copy it down 5000. For the blank rows I get the ugly #NAME, #VALUE, etc errors.
I know there are ways to supress those error messages, but how about a way so that the macro checks to see how many rows are populated so it doesn't copy down on the blank rows.

Nov 19, 2008I am trying to compare two columns (store names) to verify if a store purchased a certain product. column a is all our stores and column c are the stores that got the product. the formula i am using is: =OR(EXACT(A2,C2:C93)) in column B and it returns a true or false value. However, when I copy the formula down column B, not only does the A value change, but so do the C values. How do I keep the c2:c93 portion of the function the changing, while the a2 goes to a3, a4, a5 etc.?

I will try to be clear: Depending on the channel of booking and the day of week we have a % of commission different. so I want to put the price in one cell and it is calculate for each date in order at the end I have the right net profit (because the right commission has been applied). Of course to complicate the commissions do not apply in the same order depending the channel and there are fixed costs which are count one time or repeat by the amount of nights. For the these things what i did seems work.
After, my boss would like to link the dates with another excel file which say for each date which "level of price" (price point) is applied and function of this Price Point we have the price applied per room type and offer
But for now, I didn't find anything what can say to me between 2 dates what dates are between...
Formula For Getting Exact Names

There are duplicate percentages and i need have the Names in between the percentages for 90% - 99%. Here i am using Vlook up function in Column "H" and i am getting error. This will only takes the first Name but i need all other Names for these percentages.

Let's say I would like replace 27 to 163 but when I find and replay the "527" also changed to 5163. How can i filtered out 527 and just change the 27. I tried Match Entire Cell Content, it doesn't work.
Copy An Exact Value To Another Cell?
May 18, 2009What command do I enter so that a value in one cell is copied EXACTLY to another cell? For example, I have today's date in cell A4 and I want the exact date to be automatically copied to cell E5.
I can't seem to figure out the correct function to do this. I looked for help but there are just ways to transfer formulas over to other cells.
Find And Remove Exact Value?
May 27, 2014I am using the above code to find and remove data, at present the code does not find the exact match.
For instance if someone enters as it will remove any entry with as in it.
I want it to only remove specific data, so if someone types in as, and as is not in the list to look through I wan't them to recieve a message telling them to check spelling and enter exact value of data to be removed.
IE (enter Blauv to remove Blauv, Not BL and remove Blauv, Black, Blue)
The find method has a lookat arguement which you can define as xlwhole or xlpart, by default it is set to xlpart.
If you have a cell containing Blauv
.find("Bl") will find it, .find("Bl", lookat:=xlwhole) will not.
Exact Match And Offset More Than Once?
Feb 17, 2009I have one condition which needs to be matched. This code I wrote can find the first instance and then offset data to another worksheet accordingly.
My question is whether than can be done for every other instance that appears on my sourcesheet 'Invoicing'. I have considered putting a loop in, but this will only find the first instance over and over again which is pointless.

Jun 17, 2013I have written a basic search which pastes the results on to another sheet.It works, but i have a small issue with it.If I search for "A" it will give me all the results for "A" but it will also give me any result with a combination with "A" in it, eg. BA or BBA etc I need to have results based on the exact search. What do I need to do to make my search result and exact result?

Autofilter Without Exact Values?
Mar 6, 2014I am writing a macro that will take data from a series of objects and then filter 3 columns according to their attributes.
EX.
Object 1 Example1 20140306 10
This combination of values is unique so is used to grab the value in the third column after the filter has ran.
My issue is that in the second column the actual values are 50201403069999 and they change per value although they represent the same date "20140306" so manually I can type in "20140306" and the filter will show the results however it seems the macro requests the exact which I can't provide as this the superfluous numbers change.
Is there a way to make it the auto filter search the value??
My second issue is how to extract the value sought once found. Since this cell will be different each time, what is the best way of selecting would it be C3 select then down?

Now, the problem is: I don't know how to make a sum of exact number of A following column cells, like number in B1.
Example: If there is number 4 in B1 than I need Excel to make sum only for first 4 cells (A1-A4).
