View 1 RepliesI work as a data administrator in a high school in England. I've only been doing the job for about 8 months but a lot of the processes we go through could be better automated via the use of macros in Excel and Word.
Basically we have school grade reports that come from our MIS database that are stored as a Word template, which are then exported into Word as an .xml file. However, they don't come with the photographs of the students on the reports, so we have a Word List Report with every student photo (split into year groups) and run the following macro, which allows you to pick a folder where the reports are stored and match the photo to the report via the school admission number. It is then inserted into the report using a Word bookmark to place it in the top left corner.
VB:
Sub InsertPhoto()
Dim myFile, myFileNewName As String
Dim PathToUse As String [code]....
This works fine but I would like to be able to automatically format the photos so that they have 'In Front Of Text' wrapping, which we need to keep the templates from messing up. It would also save me accessing nearly 1000 school reports and manually editing each photo.
The following macro enables be to insert picture from a given location. My query is I want to insert the picture name once the pictures are inserted in the excel worksheet.

In Excel 2010, is there any way to paste a picture into a small picture/diagram box, and upon double clicking the picture it would explode to a larger size? And I guess double clicking it again would make it return to its original (smaller) size. I would be pasting several pictures into several different picture/diagram boxes and would need this to be a relative reference so that upon selection it explodes the appropriate picture?
View 1 Replies View RelatedTrying to create a macro to run through the following steps when I select a chart and run the macro:
Paste>As Picture>Copy As Picture>As Shown When Printed>OK
I used the macro record feature and when I enter the shortcut it always returns the same chart. How do I get it to run on whatever chart I have selected instead?
I am constantly using this function to copy charts from Excel into PowerPoint presentations and am frustrated with all the extra steps it takes (versus just Ctrl-C).
I am trying to get my Userform to open the Insert Picture Dialog
Private Sub CommandButton1_Click()
at a set Path
fPath = ThisWorkbook.Path & "Pics" & "*.jpg"
where the user selects the Picture to LoadPicture in Image1 control. No matter what I try I keep getting errors.
I use the code below to insert an image and have it save with the file. I would like for the newly placed image/shape to be selected.

I'm trying to use a List Box to select multiple items on my Pivot Table but I can't seem to get it to work. Its the Report Filter part of the pivot table.
When the list Box is set to fmMultiSelectSingle it work and selects the indivdual items, but I need it set as fmMultiSelectMulti for if i'm also needed to select multiple items. (which doesn't seem to work!)
I have two tables (Table 1 and Table 2). Table 1 has names of all employees in my organization ('Name' column) and corresponding information in the second column ('Textinfo'). I need to create Table 3 from table 1, but only select those employees who are in my team, ie matching names in the Table 2. I also need to extract corresponding 'Textingo' column information. I tried vlookup but it did not work because if there more that one name in the table 1, vlookup confuses it (i think). Would you know what function or code to use?
Sample file is attached : excel question 1.xlsx
I want to paste/show a photo in a particular cell (D2) on a worksheet (called PP). I wish to delete any photo that may already be there in D2.
The picture's name (e.g. J-145.jpg) will be found in another sheet (called MP) in cell H1.
My pictures are stored in a folder (lets call it c:pictures) and the one I want has the same name (J-145.jpg).
I've tried many macros but none work.
I am trying to create a macro using the recorder that will select the latest date in a drop down list. The dates upate each day in the pivot table after the table is earlier refreshed. Using the recorder simply picks the same date each time. I want it to select the latest date. Am using Excel 2010 and have some very limited experience in vba for editing macros.
View 1 Replies View Relatedi have a macro that opens 10 other workbooks and copies cells onto a "master" workbook. Until recently, everything worked fine. Suddendly, while it opens the 9 books and copies as it is expected, but when it opens the 10th wb, the macro breaks at a very simple copy/paste.
The weirdest thing is that after it breaks, I cannot select any cells neither in the opened wb nor in the master wb. This continues even after I press the "reset" button in the vba. So, I am only able to select objects (text boxes etc) in my wb and not any cells.
Also, the "arrow" icon on the design toolbar is not active. And I've tried pressing and de-pressing the F8 key, but I still cannot select any cells.
I have option explicit in the beginning of my macro. And i'm using excel 2003.
I have a raw data in one file and then another file contains pivot table linked to the raw data. In the dashboard i need to show last 6 weeks trend which is linked to the pivot table. Currently i am manually unselecting previous week and selecting the latest week.
Ex: This week i select weeks 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 from the pivot for the dashboard. When new data is updated next week, i want to select 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11. I cannot delete as i need the historical data.
I am using Microsoft Excel 2010.
I wanted to get the data from data sheet where i have entered the data manually for sales what have done

And c1 - c10 price (if i sold 10 item @that price)
I want lock a picture in excel like logo, if i copy that logo and past in another sheet the position should be same as parent sheet.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have written two VBA programs around the same time. Both run on open and pull external data and create graphs. My problem is that I want the end user to be able to run the report multiple times by choosing the name of the macro from the Excel macro menu (i.e. Tools>Macro>Macros) but only one of the workbook macros shows up on the menu. why the other macro is not visible on this menu???

I am making a spreadsheet which would have the record of the audit that i am doing on my patients. Along with other details i want to give link of the routine followups of their disease picture in their specific spreadsheet cell. I have searched the internet about it where i have come to know about hyperlinking. However, my concern about hyperlinking is that i want the spreadsheet with pictures to be portable to other PCs which wouldn't be possible with hyperlinking. Also including the pictures in the spreadsheet would be very troublesome as the size would enormously increase once the data continues to grow.I want to include photos in column L, R, V, Z & AD.

Whenever I run this it lets me find the picture I want and when I select it I get error message that says "compile error" Syntax Error". It then does not put the picture on the sheet.
I tried to zip and attach the work sheet multiple times but keep getting error message and won't let me attach......"forum excel database has encountered a problem" ....

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have to file an insurance claim due to a fire in my home. I have a folder with .jpg photos located at C:InsClaimOnlinePhotos . Im working with Excel 2003. I am trying to put the picture of the damaged protery in Column A on the same row as the detail about that damaged property using the ActiveSheet.Pictures.Insert function. The name of the picture is located in Column B. There are multiple sheets in the Excel book and each contains from 10 to over 700 rows. I would like to run the macro based on the active sheet to add the pictures one sheet at a time. I would like the pictures to be about 1.2" High by 1.6" Wide and be actually be within the cell of Column A of the row where the detail information is located. I have played with writing my own code, pieces of others code and full code sets I found in the Forum. Nothing works. Below is the best I found so far but, it uses Column C for the placement of the pictues.
When I try to run the below code I get Run-Time Error "1004" "Unable to get the insert Property of the Picture class".
I'm not sure if this code should work in Excel 2003 or not.
I got a database that include a link for pictures stored in my drive.

I'm using Excel 2007. I don't see anymore the form creation tool that I have used many many years ago.
I have a not too big catalog in Excel format (2010). Each row has a picture. Now, I need to generate sales report. Some items do not sell. For report purpose, I want to delete those rows along with the pictures. Possible to do so? I did an Internet search and found that drawing objects are not bonded to a row or a cell. Seems to me I cannot selectively delete picture in a particular row. True?

A macro, which would allow me to click on a particular cell, which will have an ID number (1 through 34), each ID# is attributed to a particular employee. These ID# are located in my spreadsheet in columns B & G, and the ID #'s begin initially in B6 & G6 and continue downward to B34 & G34. These ID #'s are used in a vlookup type formula which covers 35 pages of this workbook. What I'd like to do is be able to click on any cell between B6& B34 (and/or the same in G6&G34), which has a particular ID # in it and have the photo of that particular employee designated with that ID# pop up in a window generated by the macro. I hope this makes sense! Any help would be greatly appreciated. My 1st sheet in my workbook is my "lookup" tab, which contains my ID# list and numbering sequence affiliated to each employee. So I'm not sure if I'd need to put the photograph of the employee in a column next to the employees name or have a folder designated with all my pictures in a certain directory, etc.

I'm watching an educational D V D on my computer, and take notes in excel. I repeatedly use the print screen command, then go to excel and paste in the picture, though it is too large. I resize it to 50% and I'm done. What kind of code do I need to use to paste and shrink the picture to 50%? Also, how do I attach a shortcut key to this action (for example Ctrl+M)
I have been able to piece together something that works great for me till i tested it on a item that I did not have a picture referanced to it.
