Excel 2010 :: Insert Picture Without A Link

Feb 5, 2013

I'm using a macro to insert a photo in to a Excel 2010 workbook. If the photo moves location it will no longer display the photo in the document as I belive the photo is being referenced instead of embedded.

If you then use the "Change Picture" icon the photo embeds but how do I get my macro to embed the photo.

Sub InsertPhoto(PictNo)

Dim SH As Worksheet
Dim Rng As Range
Dim MyPic As Picture
Dim sPath As String
Dim PicH As Single

Excel 2010 :: Paste Picture Into Small Picture / Diagram Box?

Mar 19, 2012

In Excel 2010, is there any way to paste a picture into a small picture/diagram box, and upon double clicking the picture it would explode to a larger size? And I guess double clicking it again would make it return to its original (smaller) size. I would be pasting several pictures into several different picture/diagram boxes and would need this to be a relative reference so that upon selection it explodes the appropriate picture?

Excel 2003 :: Insert Picture To Cell In Col A With Pic Name In Col B

Feb 24, 2011

I have to file an insurance claim due to a fire in my home. I have a folder with .jpg photos located at C:InsClaimOnlinePhotos . Im working with Excel 2003. I am trying to put the picture of the damaged protery in Column A on the same row as the detail about that damaged property using the ActiveSheet.Pictures.Insert function. The name of the picture is located in Column B. There are multiple sheets in the Excel book and each contains from 10 to over 700 rows. I would like to run the macro based on the active sheet to add the pictures one sheet at a time. I would like the pictures to be about 1.2" High by 1.6" Wide and be actually be within the cell of Column A of the row where the detail information is located. I have played with writing my own code, pieces of others code and full code sets I found in the Forum. Nothing works. Below is the best I found so far but, it uses Column C for the placement of the pictues.

When I try to run the below code I get Run-Time Error "1004" "Unable to get the insert Property of the Picture class".

I'm not sure if this code should work in Excel 2003 or not.

Excel 2010 :: How To Position A Picture Relative To Last Cell

Jul 14, 2014

I need to insert a picture on a Excel 2010 worksheet.

The worksheet contains a variable number of columns, and the column width is also variable.

The picture needs to be aligned such that the right edge of the picture is in line with the right side of the last used column.

This is so that when the worksheet is converted to a PDF document the picture (company logo) appears on the top right hand side of the page.

I can find the cell reference for the last column, and I can move the picture around the page. But I'm not sure how to find the position of the last column on the page?

I've got this far:

'copy picture and resize and position
Sheets("Output File").Select
ActiveSheet.Shapes.Range(Array("Picture 1")).Select
Sheets("External data sheet").Select
Cells(1, 10).Select ' I can make this be relative to the last column on the WS
ActiveSheet.Paste
Selection.ShapeRange.Height = 50
Selection.ShapeRange.IncrementLeft 0 'put the picture in a position relative to the cell selected

Excel 2010 :: Link A Cell To Textbox?

May 13, 2013

I am using Excel 2010. I am creating a flowchart which will require formulas. Unfortunately the flowchart connectors work best with text boxes rather than the cells. To make this method work, data will be entered into the text-boxes and will be calculated into other text boxes. Basically I need the data I enter into a text box to automatically fill itself into a cell in the background. I know there may be other ways to do this whilst not using text boxes at all, but I will not be using them.

I can fill a text-box from a cell by using F2 on the textbox and then typing =A1 etc, but I am having a hard time going the other way - getting a cell to fill from the value in the text box.

Excel 2010 :: Camera Function - Take Picture Of Graph And Pasting To Alternative Sheet?

May 21, 2014

Excel 2010 and the camera function.

I have been using it to take a picture of a graph, pasting to an alternative sheet within the same workbook, and renaming the picture by a defined name. S by selecting the names from a drop down list the picture will select various different sized graphs defined within my drop down.

What I am experiencing is when I initially do this the pic works great and resizes automatically with each selection, however the next day some of the pictures resize and some do not.

Is this a glitch within excel or am I missing a setting which will resolve this?

Excel 2010 :: Difficulty Breaking Link Possibly Caused By Name Function

Sep 11, 2013

I have researched a problem I am experiencing in Excel 2010 and have had problems in the past with previous versions. It seems that occasionally I run across a link that just refuses to break. During my research I have found some reports that this may be linked to the "Name" function. !!!Bing!!! the light comes on. When I copied my template to my new folder and tried to cut and paste data into it I got a message saying something like "A formula or sheet you want to move or copy contains the name "...", which already exists on the destination worksheet." and I opted to replace the existing name with the new one.

Apparently I created an external link at that point and one that cannot now be broken unless I delete my named range and start over the naming process. I mention this here because I see lots of people having this problem and the stock answer is to goto the Edit Links menu and attempt to break the link. Try as they and I might, this doesn't work. I also saw a post about it being a phantom validation problem and that too panned out although I can see how the validation could be linked externally and create this problem.

Does this accurately describes the issue and is there a remedy besides re-creating the "Names"?

Excel 2010 :: Workbook Not Closing Correctly When Accessed Via Link On Sharepoint Site

Feb 18, 2013

I was asked to create a userform for the use of our whole team which would enable them to select a name from a dropdown list and then it would display their business contact details in the rest of the form.

I'm running Office 2010 and Windows XP server/enterprise edition (not quite sure which). After some research I've managed to use VBA code to open the userform while hiding the workbook, then when the close button is clicked it closes the user form and it's associated workbook using the code below.

Code:
' ThisWorkbook module
Private Sub Workbook_Open()
Application.Visible = False
UserForm1.Show
End Sub
'UserForm module
Private Sub CommandButton1_Click()
Unload UserForm1
ThisWorkbook.Close (False)
End Sub

This works great when the excel file is accessed directly. However when the excel file is accessed via the link on my teams Sharepoint site it doesn't. When the Userform is closed the underlying workbook and data is then displayed which then has to be closed separately.

Excel 2010 :: Insert New Equation Grayed-out

Dec 2, 2012

I put the "Insert new equation" button on my "Quick Access Toolbar" but it is grayed-out, as in, unavailable. The weird thing is, I also have a "Insert Equation" button on the same toolbar, clicking that opens a small menu of ready stored equations and at the bottom there is another "Insert new equation" button, that is also grayed out. However simply clicking the "Insert Equation" icon puts allows me to insert a new equation, as it should be. The same is true for the "Insert Equation" button in the "Insert" tab.

I am working on a new excel file, i.e. it is a .xlsx file with only one sheet. It worked for me before but I did a windows reinstall and now it doesn't.

Also while on that subject in Word 2010 you can put a "Insert Symbol" button on the "Quick Access Toolbar" which, when clicked, opens a small menu of recently used symbols, while its Excel counterpart directly opens the entire Symbol catalog. Any way to put a button on the Excel "Quick Access Toolbar" that behaves like its Word 2010 sibling?

Excel 2010 :: Insert Loads Of Images At Once

Mar 11, 2014

I've recently purchased an add-in for Excel 2010 called Image Assistant. It allows you to insert loads of images at once and automatically puts them in the cells for you, which is what I need to create quotes for my business. It was painstaking to go through resizing each picture individually so I thought I'd give this a go...

The demo of the program worked fine, except it restricted you to one picture at a time and I have thousands to go through. It resized the picture great and put it in the cell as I expected.

So I purchased the full product. There didn't seem to be an option to just put a license key into the demo version to make it full, and I was sent a link to download the full version, so I did.

When in Excel, I click the icon in the add-ins window and Excel grinds to a halt. It stops responding instantly and then won't do anything until I force close it, at which point it pops up with "Automation Error" and then closes the program.

I've checked DEP settings, trust center settings, add-in settings. I've tried 'repairing' Microsoft Office in case it was an issue with Excel itself but that didn't work. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the add-in several times and it still freezes every time I open it.

Excel 2010 :: Insert Column And Add Fields

Feb 10, 2014

I have an Excel spreadsheet that where the headings start in row 5. Data starts in row 6.

The spreadsheet is updated frequently. The headings are always the same but the number of lines of data changes.

D5 = Units1 (field contains numbers or is blank)
E5 = Units2 (Field contains numbers or is blank)

I would like to insert a column to the right of Column E and add D + E in the inserted cell. I would like F5 to be called NewUnits.

Some cells in Columns D and E are blank. No cell in Column A is blank. (If cell A6 is the activecell and you press CTRL + Down Arrow Key -- you will get to the last cell with data in Col A. That is not the case if the activecell was E6 as there are blanks.)

I am using Excel 2010.

Link A Picture To That Specific Product

Aug 29, 2007

I have excel worksheet with 2 sheets in it. Let’s call the one "Database", it consist of 713 rows and 15 columns with data in of my product. Then the other one "Display Product" in it you type in the code of the specific product so it search for my code and display all of the information of that product code on the "Display Product" sheet and it that work.

Now I want to link a picture to that specific product to the code. Here's the code I used:

Private Sub Worksheet_Calculate()
Dim oPic As Picture
Me.Pictures.Visible = False
With Range("A71")
For Each oPic In Me.Pictures
If oPic.Name = .Text Then
oPic.Visible = True
oPic.Top = .Top
oPic.Left = .Left
Exit For
End If
Next oPic
End With

End Sub

Now this code works fine up to a specific limit in my case 66 picture to a product, and I need at least 200 more images in it but I get a runtime error in my macro when I put one more image in. This is where I get the run time error -> “Me.Pictures.Visible = False“.
I don't know if excel is limited to image usage. Or maybe there is another way to do what I want to do with more advance coding.
