Making A Macro Run From A Button In Different Tab.
Jan 5, 2010
I have an excel spreadsheet with two tabs. One called "menu" and one called "website"
I want to put a button in tab one (menu) and assign a macro. I need the macro to run/output in sheet 2 (website) not in sheet 1 where the button is placed.
No matter what I do I can't figure it out. The macro always runs in the same sheet as the button.
I have a spread sheet that tracks progress reports that are due every 90 days. I have a due date colum that will automatically get high lighted if the 90 days have passed to inform me or my staff that the report is late. I would like to have a colum with a button in each row that allows the reader of the spreadsheet to press "YES" for that accont's progress report having been turn in. When the "YES" button is pressed the date due date column advances to the next 90 day due date and the highlight would turn off.
I used the conditional format to change the due date column to Yellow if =TODAY() is less then or equal to the due date. But I can figure out a way to select something and turn the highlight off and advance the due date to the next 90 day due date.
I want to make a button in a cell that when clicked it will make cells A1:M25 the print area. Then in another cell I want another button that will make cells A28:M52 the print area.
I have a workbook with about 53 worksheets one for every week in the year. They are named as follows: VA-1-1-09 TO VA 12-28-09 All sheets are hidden except the (VA-1-1-09)
What I am trying to do is create some logic that would keep all 52 sheets Very hidden except sheet VA-1-1-09 Till the second week starts at that time what I would like to see happen sheet VA-1-5-09 come out of very hidden and appear visible and send sheet VA-1-1-09 to just a hidden state. I like to have this happen for every week of the year? If this can happen automatically that would be great however a command button clicked once a week would do the trick as well.
I have a survey with different groups of Control Toolbox options buttons on it. I want to ensure that each question has an option button selected before the survey can be exited and emailed onwards. The grouped button names are: GroupA, Group1 through to Group6.
I have a data validation list in cell D11 on sheet "Data Entry" and a command button "btnMultipleProperties" that I only want visible if "Multiple" is selected in "D11" I have the below code in "This Workbook" in VBE but it doesn't work. What did I miss?
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range) With Sheets("Data Entry") If [D11].Value "Multiple" Then btnMultipleProperties.Visible = False Else: btnMultipleProperties.Visible = True End If End With End Sub
Context: I have a spreadsheet that contains a list of employee names and their certifications. I want to be able to assign a button to each employee in column B with a macro that is able to zip files from a folder that contains that employees name.
The following code assigns buttons to each employee in column B. At the moment the code I have is able to assign the macro "Zip" to each button.
.....
Now, this Zip macro is able to zip the file for the employee "Anthony Tran". However I need it to be able to recognise which employee's button I've clicked and search the same files as above except with that employees name instead of "Anthony Tran".
If it makes things easier, the code for creating buttons for each employee is able to name that button as the employees name that it represents.
This is probably really straight forward but cant see why it happens, the following macro works fine when called by a button created by the form toolbar but doesnt when called by a command button, get the runtime error 1004, "select method of range class failed"
I have the following code as part of my macro. What I was wondering is a) Can anyone think of a way to shorten this? and b) I currently have this exact code copied 8 times, I did a find and replace to change 'if year = 2003 then' to the year 2010. What I would like is to have 1 code that will automatically change depending on the year the user inputs in a cell. (I should mention that 'Year' is a cell on my input sheet where the user types in the year they are currently working on and the macro automatically runs)
'2003 Sheets("Cash Crops").Select If Year = 2003 Then ' This copies the cash crop BPU's. ActiveSheet.Unprotect Workbooks.Open Filename:="F:xdataCAISCAIS spreadsheetsBPU's.xls" Application.Goto reference:="Cash03" Selection.Copy Windows(Filename).Activate ActiveWindow.SmallScroll Down:=21 Application.Goto reference:="CashCrops" ActiveSheet.Paste ActiveWindow.SmallScroll Down:=-30 Range("A2").Select Application.CutCopyMode = False ActiveSheet.Protect DrawingObjects:=True, Contents:=True, Scenarios:=True..............
in making this macro non case-sensitive. So when a user searches a company name in the worksheet they do not require to type in the company name exactly as it appears.
For example; when searching Microsoft they can type "microsoft" and the macro would take the user to Microsoft.
I would also like to know if it is possible to add a feature that keeps the search dialogue open so the user can search the next possible match. If the user was to type in "mirco" and the search would show the user any company name with the word micro in it.
Sub Button3_Click()
Dim datatoFind Dim sheetCount As Integer Dim counter As Integer Dim currentSheet As Integer
Basically trying to make change the active worksheet using a macro code. I want the user to be able to click a button and it will automatically switch the worksheet to another within the workbook.
In my VBA macro, it copies data from this.workbook, and paste to another "destination" workbook. That destination workbook must be opened first before the macro is run.
Within the Macro code, I had to specify the exact name of the workbook which the data is pasted to.
The problem is that the exact name of that workbook which it paste to changes every week.
Is there any method where my macro can be changed and updated with the name of the destination workbook each week without manually opening and editing the code. The user of this.workbook is not technical enough to edit and maintain the macro each week

Dim Btn As Button Dim rng As Range For I = 2 To RowCount + 1 With Worksheets("Sheet1") Set rng = .Range("B" & I) Set Btn = .Buttons.Add(rng.Left, rng.Top, rng.Width, rng.Height)

I am creating 4 Sheets from a Main Sheet by Filtering Data based on different values in a fixed column, then the Filtered Rows are automatically pasted in the respective sheets. Then these 4 Sheets are creating another file.
The same thing done manually by Grouping the 4 SHeets and then Move Copy into a New workbook also makes the file heavier.
Everything works fine however though the data is not much the file is very heavy, so what do i do to make it of appropriate size ?
What I am wanting is to be able to put an "x" or check mark in either column D or E (conforming or nonconforming). Then I want to run a macro with a push button (I know how to make these) that when pushed scans the spreadsheet row by row until it finds the "x" or check in Column E. I want it to copy every instance of this and send it to an Action Item Page that I have temporarily called Sheet 2. (This way I can go here to see all nonconforming issues). I do not want it to remove the information from Sheet 1.
Then, I want to be able to change the "x" or check on the Action Item Page to Column D (back to conforming) and the macro (push button preferably) copy and send that information back to the original spreadsheet in the SAME row it was.
So, in short I want this to be a fluid way of checking off a punchlist of items.
To complicate things even further, if possible, I would like to have several worksheets send information to the one Action Item List rather than just the one.
I've recorded a macro that copies an entire tab into a new spreadsheet then goes on the copy and paste information from one tab to another.
When I run the macro from the Tools>Macros menu it works perfectly. But when I copy the code and add it to that of a button it fails and posts the following error: Run-time error '1001': Select method of Range class failed.
The first attachement shows the code for the macro as it is alone, and the second shows how I simply copied and pasted it into the 'view code' window of the button.
Needless to say I'm a beginner at macros and only every record them, I can usually make stuff work that way but this has me stumped!
I have a long complicated macro that processes a ton of data and gives the output in a new sheet. I then want to create new buttons (or some sort of user clickable triggers) on this new sheet that runs another macro.
I have got the actual adding of buttons in the sheet working, but I can't find a way to automatically assign macros to newly generated buttons during runtime. Is this even possible (or are there any clever tricks I could use to get around this?)
I am attempting to create a macro that will create a new folder on the network drive Arie:quotes that will create the new folder and save the the file in the new folder. I need the name of the file and folder to be set to the master (worksheet) cell "B3". and then if possible have it be conditional that if cell "B40" on the same master (worksheet) has a value to have the value added at the end of the filename via hyphen. This workbook has numerous worksheets in it approx 15 worksheets. I am not sure if this is relevant.
As an brief example.
Cell "B3" on the master(worksheet) contains a job name I-40 bridge So initially I would like the Folder name and file name to be I-40 Bridge
However once the Cell "B40" has been filled in with the value 54213 then I would like the file to renamed to I-40 Bridge-54213 and saved within the same folder.
I am currently working with Excel 2007 Pro edition on windows 8. I
I have found several other macro's that work with an auto save but i am unsure of how to change the directory to the network drive and show the correct file paths. This is the example of the macro I am currently working with.
Public Sub SaveAsA1() ThisFile = Range("B3").ValueMkDir "C:NewFolder"ChDir "C:NewFolder"ActiveWorkbook.SaveAs Filename:=ThisFileEnd Sub
Upon opening the worksheet, I'd like to have a startup macro reassign a macro to a button that is already created. We have an issue with two buttons in a custom toolbar that for some reason default to an old (nonexistent) version of the file when looking for the assigned macro. If I could get an opening macro to automatically reassign those buttons to the proper macros inside the current file, then we wouldn't have to have all possible users login and reassign and resave, which seems to be the only solution at the moment.
Reassigning a macro to a button doesn't show up when doing "Record Macro", and if creating a new button and assigning correct macro while "Record Macro" is occurring, VisualBasic only shows the creation of the button and not the assignment of the macro.
I want to have every sheet with a "refresh" button, as all the sheets are populated with Webquery information, I want people to be able to go into the sheet and refresh the data.
What I need is a macro that will pull data from the sheet and insert it into a URL for example.
The site I'm pulling from looks like this in the macro:
I am new to insert buttons and I i figured how to drag one and put it in the toolbar at the top to perform a macro when it is pushed. I saw somewhere where someone had a button in say A1 that performed a certain macro and then one in A2 that performed another macro. how to insert a button in both of these cells that I can link to a macro to insert data into a specified cell?
I have button on a worksheet that has a macro assigned. I need other people to see the workbook, but I want the button DISABLED for them to click, but able for me to click it. I have written in the macro to protect the sheet once it has run, but the button is still pressable.
I need a thrid party program to be able to run excel and word macros from my desk top? I can build the buttons but I would like to make a tool bar that I can place on my desk top, I have about 15 macros I use all the time.
I just had a second thought well not mine my daughter, she suggested that I use a gaming keyboard which already has extra keys. She has one, it has 15 extra keys. Has anyone ever tried to program macros to something like this? I still prefer having a tool bar on my desk top but it is a creative idea. I just don't know if Excel or Word would recognize the extra keys.
I have a workbook with approximately 260 sheets. These sheets contain financial information. They have to be sorted according to the division within the company, with a total page for each financial division.
I have a code on a blank tab that prints the sheets based on a value in cell B3 on each sheet. (i.e. "VB", "WB", which are initials of our district managers.)
