Nested If Error Too Many Variables

Nov 5, 2007

I am receiving an error message for a nested if statement. Excel is telling me my statement contains too many variables.

I am using a VLOOKUP to look up data in a table based upon a result in the first table, however, the entry that is returned is different based upon a unique cell value.

Would anyone have any suggestions on how to shorten this down?

Nested IF: Substitute Three Variables

I can choose among three variables in cell A1. They are named P10, P50 and P90. I want to substitute them with 1,2 and 3 in cell B1. Is it possible to do this by using the substitute-function or do I have to use a nested IF.

Nested If Statements With Multiple Variables

Apr 29, 2013

I am very new at in depth excel formulas, usually in my daily work I can get by with simple summations, if statements etc. This one has thrown me for a loop.

I'm making a spreadsheet on soil compressibility and I feel like I am just knocking my head against the wall. Here is what I am working with. I need to calculate values in a column, we'll call them "Rm" values.

There are a few basic things that dictate which "Rm" equation you use. I'm substituting V,W,X,Y,Z in for the equations to simplify the question.

I = 3 Rm= W*log(K)

Nested IF Formula That Takes Into Effect Many Variables

May 5, 2014

Basically I need a formula that takes into effect many variables. It needs to check a size, thickness, and material, to determine a cost...

1.5 O.D. - 16GA - 304SS = $X

1.5 O.D. - 18 GA - 304SS = $Y

and such.

The problem I have is not only am I not understanding a lot of Excel jargon, the data set is not in perfect "example" conditions.

O.D. is in N:N yet there are blanks between N(x) and N(y), GA is in O:O yet blanks between O(a) and O(b), and so on.

Here is what I have at the moment, it uses a second sheet to derive the cost based on the parameters. Please ignore the first few terms, they are used with this cost lookup to give me my final. There also may be incorrect syntax in this, but since I get a nesting error first, I really don't know.

=V7+(Q7*M7*(IF(N7=2=AND(O7=20)=AND(L7=304),’Steel Tube Cost WIP’!$DD$19,IF(N7=2=AND(O7=20)=AND(L7=316),’SteelTubeCostWIP’!$DD$20,IF(N7=2=AND(O7=20)=AND(L7=2205),
’SteelTubeCostWIP’!$DD$21,IF(N7=2=AND(O7=18)=AND(L7=304),’Steel Tube Cost WIP’!$DD$16,IF(N7=2=AND(O7=18)=AND(L7=316),’SteelTubeCostWIP’!$DD$17,IF(N7=2=AND(O7=18)=AND(L7=2205),
’SteelTubeCostWIP’!$DD$18,IF(N7=2=AND(O7=16)=AND(L7=304),’Steel Tube Cost
[Code] ......

Mentioning LOOKUP, can I even use it? I've attempted many times however it isn't going too well What can I do?

VBA Run Time Error 13 In Nested Conditional Statements?

Jul 17, 2012

I am using VBA to put a formula into a cell. The formula is

VB: = IFERROR(VLOOKUP(LEFT(A5,11), 'New Quarterly Report'!A$11:E$37,3,FALSE), " - ")

But when I try to put this into a cell using the value option, I get a run time error 13: Type Mismatch. No problems while im compiling it but it comes up only during execution

VB: Sheets("Summation Table Template").range("B4").Value = "= IFERROR(VLOOKUP(LEFT(A5,11),'New Quarterly Report'!A$11:E$37,3,FALSE), " - ")"

When I try to put only the VLOOKUP, it works fine.

VB: Sheets("Summation Table Template").range("B4").Value = "= VLOOKUP(LEFT(A5,11),'New Quarterly Report'!A$11:E$37,3,FALSE)"

But I want the cell to not show #N/A when a value through vlookup is not found. Other formulas Iv tried are to use ISERROR with IF and also to store the formaula in a string and then put it into Range.Value but it still gives me a run time error 13.

Subscript Out Of Range Error When Using Nested If Statement

Aug 27, 2008

I have a Userform which has 2 textboxes. User enter his employee id on textbox1 then enters a valid break time code which are 1,2 and 3 on textbox2. If User typed 1 then first breaktime start time will be pasted on the worksheet. When User returns after break he then enters his employee id again and then type 1 to end his first breaktime, the end time will be pasted on the worksheet. My program works fine however, I am trying to place a code which will prompt the user to end his first break time before entering another valid break code. Kindly check my code below as I am receiving an error message. 'Run-time error 9' Subscript out of range. This thing is driving me nuts. Any advise or can you tweak my coding vba experts.

Excel 2010 :: Logic Error In Nested If Then Statements

Using Excel 2010.

I extracted data from .pdf to Excel using Able2Extract. Now I need to scrub the output a bit.

I see commonalities in the data for the start and stop of each set of data that I can key in on.

Once I find the start and stop points for each set of data I would like to fill all rows in-between the points and then discard anything that remains outside of these boundaries.

I have something wrong in my logic, way too many rows are deleted.

Excel 2010 :: Overflow Error 6 - When All Variables Defined As Integers

Jul 17, 2012

I have tracked down an overflow Error 6 to the following line:

dMax = Int(s * DPoints / SPoints)

Where all variables are defined as Integers. The error goes away when I define s as Long, but I don't understand why this should be required since none of the individual variables ever exceed the scope of an Integer (-32768 to 32767).

Strangely, I get the same overflow problem when I type either of the following calculations in the immediate window:

? Int(328 * 100 / 1000)
? 328 * 100 / 1000
? 328 * 100

Note that no variables are defined, so why the overflow problem? Surely Excel/VBA should be able to work with this very basic calculation without any problem, by assigning the appropriate dimension, no?

Is this a known problem with Excel/VBA?

I am using Windows 7, with Excel 2010 (updated from 2009).

Function Y (x As Integer) As Integer

B = ... * x
Y = ... * B

this will give back Y as a result. But if I want to get 2 or more output variables (let's say I need to get also B into sub) from one function, how should I do that?

More Than 7 Nested If -Then - Else Through VBA

Dec 11, 2009

My objective is to replace a text string with a numeric variable. The string has text values such as US, Canada, Germany, France etc, There are about 15 such words in total. Each row will have a different one of the 15 text strings.

Each text string has a corresponding number, which I want to use in various formulas throughout the spreadsheet. The numbers are located on a separate worksheet (Match Rate), within the same workbook. I obtained the numbers from a formatted report, which I simply pasted into the second worksheet. Due to the complexity of the report, I cant reformat the numbers to allow use of the VLOOKUP function.

I created the following function, but unfortunately it doesnt work. Can you help, please?

Id like to stay with a VBA solution, since a simple if/then sequence such as this is an excellent introduction to the powerful world of VBA... (it just doesnt work, yet). I suspect the problem is in the calls to the Match Rate Worksheet.

IF And Then Nested. How Much Nested?

Jan 17, 2008

Ok. Here's what I'm trying to do. I have a drop down menu of certain providers located on cell F5. Each one charges different rates per day located on another sheet. Here's the kicker two of those providers charge different rates depending on the amount of days. Those two are UASC and CMA. For the First 5 days they charge one rate and after the 5 days they charge an increased rate.

I'm trying to have one cell located on the first sheet display this information with all the proper calculations. The below formula gives me a false value. I'm not even sure if it works. I know a little bit of excel through some intro courses in college but I'm not sure if a formula like this would work. I know laugh it up.... : ) but I'm not too saavy with formulas....

Nested IF In VBA

Jul 8, 2008

I have a total of 30 nested formulas that (ofcourse) dont work in excel.

Here is an example of the first 7 nested IFS

(1) IF(MID(A7,8,9)="GIR",INDEX('ERIS INPUT'!$C$2:$C$65536,MATCH(A7,IF(Reconciliatie!C$3:C$65536=C7,Reconciliatie!A$3:A$65536),0)),

(3) IF(MID(A7,8,9)="BE",INDEX('ERIS INPUT'!$C$2:$C$65536,MATCH(A7,IF(Reconciliatie!C$3:C$65536=C7,Reconciliatie!A$3:A$65536),0)),
(4) IF(MID(A7,8,9)="AT",INDEX('ERIS INPUT'!$C$2:$C$65536,MATCH(A7,IF(Reconciliatie!C$3:C$65536=C7,Reconciliatie!A$3:A$65536),0))
(5) IF(MID(A7,8,9)="DE",INDEX('ERIS INPUT'!$C$2:$C$65536,MATCH(A7,IF(Reconciliatie!C$3:C$65536=C7,Reconciliatie!A$3:A$65536),0))
(6) IF(MID(A7,8,9)="PH",INDEX('ERIS INPUT'!$C$2:$C$65536,MATCH(A7,IF(Reconciliatie!C$3:C$65536=C7,Reconciliatie!A$3:A$65536),0))
(7) IF(MID(A7,8,9)="AUBE",INDEX('ERIS INPUT'!$C$2:$C$65536,MATCH(A7,IF(Reconciliatie!C$3:C$65536=C7,Reconciliatie!A$3:A$65536),0))

I tried this code but it is not working.

Function LookupRetrieve(pVal As String) As Long

If pVal = "(MID(A7,8,9)="GIR" Then
LookupRetrieve = INDEX('ERIS INPUT'!$C$2:$C$65536,MATCH(A7,IF(Reconciliatie!

ElseIf pVal = "(MID(A7,8,9)="NL" Then
LookupRetrieve = INDEX('ERIS INPUT'!$C$2:$C$65536,MATCH(A7,IF(Reconciliatie!

ElseIf pVal = "(MID(A7,8,9)="BE" Then
LookupRetrieve = INDEX('ERIS INPUT'!$C$2:$C$65536,MATCH(A7,IF(Reconciliatie!

ElseIf pVal = "(MID(A7,8,9)="AT" Then
LookupRetrieve = INDEX('ERIS INPUT'!$C$2:$C$65536,MATCH(A7,IF(Reconciliatie!

ElseIf pVal = "(MID(A7,8,9)="DE" Then
LookupRetrieve = INDEX('ERIS INPUT'!$C$2:$C$65536,MATCH(A7,IF(Reconciliatie!

ElseIf pVal = "(MID(A7,8,9)="PH" Then
LookupRetrieve = INDEX('ERIS INPUT'!$C$2:$C$65536,MATCH(A7,IF(Reconciliatie!

ElseIf pVal = "(MID(A7,8,9)="AU" Then
LookupRetrieve = INDEX('ERIS INPUT'!$C$2:$C$65536,MATCH(A7,IF(Reconciliatie!

LookupRetrieve = "isingcode missing"
End If

End Function

The formula is a vlookup formula (Index/Match but with multiple criterias such as the use of Mid).

I tried Concatenate but the formula is too long and has a lot of characters and VBA seems better.

If column D is 1 or 3, then the VLOOKUP should look up column E and point to the answer in column 4 on another worksheet (Companies in this case).
