I have 3 seperate macros (macro1, macro2, macro3) that have to be run in order. Is it possible to create a macro to run them in order and what would the code look like? I will have it assigned to a button on the worksheet.
View 9 RepliesI have been working on some Macros. I am compiling a macro that runs other macros. I have two noticeable problems.
1 - My SaveAs macro runs fine by itself. But when called or ran by another macro, (which calls more than one macro) the SaveAs macro it stops.
2- Many of my macros, when ran by another macro (which runs more than one macro) cycles through twice.
My specific question is about no. 2 and the following are the individual macros and the macro that runs them.
I am trying to create a Macro for taking information from a master sheet "sheet1" and dumping it into another worksheet based on a single variable in "sheet1". I have attached the excel workbook for reference. In detail, I would like to pull all of the rows where cell "F" in "sheet1" equals "1" and dump them into the new sheet titled "Dept1" with the same headings. The same for all rows where cell "F" in "sheet1" equals "2" to dump into the new sheet titled "Dept2".
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to find a macro that would allow me to keep a running total in a cell by adding a number to that cell and the same cell would display the sum of the numbers entered. {i.e.} If cell a1 has 0 in it and i click on that cell and put 3 in it would display 3 if i added 2 to it it would display 5 and so on. I need it to do this for about 182 cells on one page.I found this macro that runs automatically every time and works great......But only for one cell so far..."D3"...Ugh!!! I need this macro to work for the following range of cells "colums d thru j from row 3 down to 28 in each colum. Each cell is an individual. There are 182 cells total that each need this macro to work ...all on one page

As you see the macro includes cell D3 only, I have made several attempts to include more cells but have failed.... I tried like this

and I have tried ....If .Address(False, False) = "23Rx7C" Then
I can make it work for cell d3 but not the others. Will I have to repeat this code for every cell?
I have a workbook with numerous macros in it and they are assigned to buttons in the different worksheets. I am trying to record a new macro and when I start recording and click on one of the other macros nothing happens. This wasn't a problem in excel 2003.

My problem is that I want the end user to be able to run the report multiple times by choosing the name of the macro from the Excel macro menu (i.e. Tools>Macro>Macros) but only one of the workbook macros shows up on the menu. why the other macro is not visible on this menu???

I normally open each of the 30 workbooks and run the macro for each one.
Is there a way I can run the macro to apply to all workbooks at once?
I am seeking code that will go to Sheet 4 (named "Extract"), copy a1:a5 and return to the active cell the macro was launched from and copy the values in.
The challenge I am having is how to get the code to return back to the cell it was launched from since I want the flexibility to use this macro in multiple tabs/sheets to copy the info into ANY selected cell within ANY sheet. As it is now, I have to go change the sheet name each time for the then active sheet.

how to run my Macro over multiple (about 60) .xlsx files. I have been looking around, but haven't quite got anything working yet.
I have all the files in the same folder with similar names (i.e. Subject_01.xlsx, Subject_02.xlsx, etc.).
What I'd like is:
*open Subject_01
*run script (some calculations, copy/pasting, my script for this is working fine)
*save file under a different name (i.e. Subject_01_processed.xlsx)
*close file
*again for Subject_02, Subject_03, etc.
Additionally, I have a second question: after I have the processed .xlsx files, I'd like to copy some cells from each .xlsx file (e.g. A1-H1) to a new file. There, I'd like the data from Subject_01 to for example be in cells A1-H1, from Subject_02 in cells A2-H2, etc.
I need to run a very simple macro (filter by date, copy, and paste) on every worksheet in a workbook, and then place that data into a summary page at the "end" of the workbook. Most other posts had to do with some kind of formatting that would work in succession on the sheets linearly from left to right (for lack of a better way to put it). My problem, however, is that the data would need to be pasted into the summary worksheet, and then somehow the macro would come back to the next sheet (after the one it just did) and do it all over again, so on and so forth. The worksheets are arranged alphabetically, but other than that there is no sort of easily identifiable progression between them (i.e. Sheet1, Sheet 2, etc.).
View 9 Replies View RelatedI would like my macro to go to a certain folder- in this case N:Aexeo ClientsJabre2008Excel Diet Run, open each workbook therein ( to this end I have found the first part of the code below on another thread) and perform the ExcelDietMacro (also below). I am missing something though as nothing is happening, would anyone know from a quick glance what is wrong? Should I have these as 2 seperate Sub End Subs or combined into one? I know that the Excel Diet is correct thanks to the original designer and Rory on the forum for getting it adjusted to my needs.
Also each workbook within the folder will have the same password to open, is it possible to insert some code in the macro to do this automatically?

I am trying to find a way to set up a macro that will allow me to pull in data - create the Pivot table - delete the table - then pull in fresh data (of a different row length - same number of columns) and create another Pivot table. While it creates the first pivot table fine, after deleting it and starting again it wants to create the next sequence (PivotTable3) which crashes the macro. I must close the file and reopen to run it again.

However, if I am in Excel on a different server working, I cannot copy and paste in Excel (if I try to copy & paste, I end up pasting data from the macro). This makes sense since the macro is copying & pasting but is there any way around this? I purposely didn't past the code since it's huge but it has a lot of "cells.copy, activesheet.paste, etc".

Our department receives weekly and fortnighly updated workbooks from a number of different departments. Each workbook contains 10s of worksheets. Our department analyzes the data and generates reports from those worksheets.
I have developed a few macros to automate the report generation for making the computing of my colleagues easier.
Now, the problem is that all the macros are developed behind individual sheets and some modules. For this reason, my colleagues have to copy each updated sheet and paste over the older ones individually, each and every time. It is really quite time-consuming task - deleting older data from all the worksheets and then copying fresh data on each of them, one by one.
They want to make their life easier by just replacing the entire workbooks with the new ones and still want the macros functioning, as usual.
My concern is how I can put all the code in a separate workbook and how to reference data from the other workbook.
I have been writing VBA code in Excel for about 4 years, but I am self-taught, so I only know what I have had to learn. Recently, I learned that I could run a macro from a cell formula. I created several hundred cells (on multiple worksheets) that include calls to various macros. I only want to run these when I know they need to be updated, not every time I change a cell value.
I turn on Design Mode and try to modify my worksheet (adding or removing columns, rearranging stuff) and some macro(s), somewhere(?) execute every time. This can sometimes take 15-20 seconds for everything to update.
Did I hit some magic key sequence, somewhere? How is it that some of my macros, somewhere are running with Design Mode enabled (and turning it OFF, by the way)?
Whenever I share a workbook, I experience problems running macros that are problem-free otherwise. I’ve read the help menu about restrictions of using shared workbooks, but I did not run across anything that might explain this behavior. I’ve experimented with a few spreadsheets and I run across this problem in all cases. Can anyone help with an explanation or past experience? I’m assuming that by sharing a workbook, the workbook is automatically protected for both windows and structure. If this is what is causing the problem, is there code I can use to still allow my macros to run trouble free in a shared workbook?

These macros are running when I open the file using VBA. How can I prevent this from happening.
