Running A Macro To Copy Multiple Cells From A Row By Selecting A Cell

Feb 21, 2009

I want to be able to select a cell, for example A10, this would then run a macro that would copy and paste several cells of information along that row and paste it on another worksheet. However, if i then choose a15, a3, a79 in turn (using the control key), it would run the macro using those rows in turn.

i'm looking forward to hearing if and particuliar how this could be achieved.

VBA To Close Userform Upon Selecting A Toggle Button And Then Running Another Macro

Feb 17, 2014

I have this VBA set for a workbook_open event:

Public Sub Workbook_Open()
PromotionOrNewHireForm.Show
Sheet1.Select
End Sub

...which works, but I would prefer to have the form hide (or unload, exit, etc.) once the toggle button in that userform is first selected. I've tried a few things but none of them have worked. BTW, the userform has two toggle buttons, which run the following:

Private Sub ToggleButton1_Click()
Worksheets("Sheet1").Range("A4").Value = "Promotion"
End Sub
Private Sub ToggleButton2_Click()
Worksheets("Sheet1").Range("A4").Value = "New Hire"
End Sub

Also, once it closes, I'd like it to move on to the next macro depending on whether "Promotion" or "New Hire" is selected. Not sure if a workbook_change event is the best way to handle that.

Selecting Multiple Data To Copy Throughout Worksheet

Sep 4, 2009

I would like to create a spreadsheet where I enter a list of 30 – 40 names and associated data over 4 separate columns. I would like the option of having a check box next to each name so when checked, it copies that name and associated data in to a section below. This will give me a reduced list of names (lets say 20). From this section I would like the same again to reduce further and once more after that.

Logic With Multiple Cells, Selecting Between The Two

Jan 16, 2009

I'm working with Excel 2003 on a peice for work that requires users to enter their current grade and, if they have one, a temporary grade. Another sheet in the workbook needs to add together all those in a certain grade and who answered a certain way to a drop-down table, so that I can use it to figure out what percentage of staff are of each grade. At the moment it looks like this:

=SUMPRODUCT(--(Work_Data!F2:F9827="Grade 1"),--(RIGHT(Work_Data!K2:K9827,3)="Top 25%"))

Which only draws information from the current grade (column F) and the answer they give (Column K). What I can't come up with is a formula that will only take column F as long as column G hasn't got a temporary grade, but if it does have a temporary grade will take column G instead.

Finding And Selecting Multiple Cells

I'm working on a macro that's supposed to copy certain cells from a sheet, and paste them in another. But the problem is that I can't find a way to get them all in one go. The sheet that I am copying from has a mile-long list that looks something like this:

OR0220018NO-RING 21,95 x 1,78 N270 BS-0205,00
OR0220018N90O-RING 21,95 x 1,78 N290 BS 02022,00
OR0220018VO-RING 21,95 x 1,78 V275 BS-02010,00
OR0220018V90O-RING 21,95 x 1,78 V290 BS 02013,00
OR0220020NO-RING 22,00 x 2,00 N2709,00

OR0220025NO-RING 22,00 x 2,50 N2705,00

It goes over 3 columns. I want to select column A, B and C in every row that contains the letters "N270".

Running Macro In Multiple Worksheets?

Dec 20, 2013

I am seeking code that will go to Sheet 4 (named "Extract"), copy a1:a5 and return to the active cell the macro was launched from and copy the values in.

The challenge I am having is how to get the code to return back to the cell it was launched from since I want the flexibility to use this macro in multiple tabs/sheets to copy the info into ANY selected cell within ANY sheet. As it is now, I have to go change the sheet name each time for the then active sheet.

I've attempted to insert a generic worksheet reference, however I end up with a debug issue.

Ignoring Specific Values While Selecting Multiple Cells

Dec 20, 2012

I have to correct a spreadsheet that takes a bunch of values and creates an average.

=average(N15;N29;N43;N57;N71;N85;N99;N113;N127;N141;N155;N169;N183;
N197;N211;N225;N241;N255;N269;N283;N301;N315;N329;N343;N357)*100%

I didn't create this. Anyway, the problem is that most of these cells will be empty unless a whole bunch of other stuff is filled. These N cells take several values, put them together and create a new one. As time goes by they are filled. While they aren't filled, they'll return the DIV/0 error.

So when that formula I pasted there uses all of these values, it also returns a DIV/0 error because it is getting info from cells that have this error.

I managed to correct that with this
=averageif(N15:N357;"<>#DIV/0!")*100%

It works like a charm save for one problem. When I use averageif I'm forced to use an interval. Along this interval other values show up (it is always a value ranging from 0 to 2). So when the formula works its magic the results are slightly skewed because of this other value that I don't want.

So I figure there must be two ways around this. The first one would be using something like averageif that lets me use several handpicked cells instead of an interval. If I try

=averageif(N15;N29;N43;N57;N71;N85;N99;N113;N127;N141;N155;N169;N183;
N197;N211;N225;N241;N255;N269;N283;N301;N315;N329;N343;N357;"<>#DIV/0!")*100%

It doesn't work, it says I have too many values. So if I could the exact same thing as I did with averageif but keeping all of these values it'd be super nice.

The other solution, less nice but equally effective I guess, is using this same interval but having more than one criteria. The first criteria would still be the one telling it to ignore DIV/0 error, the second criteria would be the one to ignore any values equal or lower than 2.

Running Macro Over Multiple XLSX Files

Oct 2, 2013

how to run my Macro over multiple (about 60) .xlsx files. I have been looking around, but haven't quite got anything working yet.

I have all the files in the same folder with similar names (i.e. Subject_01.xlsx, Subject_02.xlsx, etc.).

What I'd like is:

*open Subject_01
*run script (some calculations, copy/pasting, my script for this is working fine)
*save file under a different name (i.e. Subject_01_processed.xlsx)
*close file
*again for Subject_02, Subject_03, etc.

Additionally, I have a second question: after I have the processed .xlsx files, I'd like to copy some cells from each .xlsx file (e.g. A1-H1) to a new file. There, I'd like the data from Subject_01 to for example be in cells A1-H1, from Subject_02 in cells A2-H2, etc.

Running Simple Macro On Multiple Sheets

Oct 22, 2013

I need to run a very simple macro (filter by date, copy, and paste) on every worksheet in a workbook, and then place that data into a summary page at the "end" of the workbook. Most other posts had to do with some kind of formatting that would work in succession on the sheets linearly from left to right (for lack of a better way to put it). My problem, however, is that the data would need to be pasted into the summary worksheet, and then somehow the macro would come back to the next sheet (after the one it just did) and do it all over again, so on and so forth. The worksheets are arranged alphabetically, but other than that there is no sort of easily identifiable progression between them (i.e. Sheet1, Sheet 2, etc.).

I know that the Excel Diet is correct thanks to the original designer and Rory on the forum for getting it adjusted to my needs.

Also each workbook within the folder will have the same password to open, is it possible to insert some code in the macro to do this automatically?

Running Multiple Pivot Tables With Same Macro

Aug 31, 2006

I am trying to find a way to set up a macro that will allow me to pull in data - create the Pivot table - delete the table - then pull in fresh data (of a different row length - same number of columns) and create another Pivot table. I have tried to manipulate recorded code to no avail. Here is what I am starting with:

Const lngLastPossRow As Long = 65536
Range(Cells(1, 1), Cells(Cells(lngLastPossRow, 1).End(xlUp).Row, 24)).Name = "Data"

ActiveWorkbook.PivotCaches.Add(SourceType:=xlDatabase, SourceData:="Data"). _
CreatePivotTable TableDestination:="", TableName:="PivotTable2", _
DefaultVersion:=xlPivotTableVersion10
ActiveSheet.PivotTableWizard TableDestination:=ActiveSheet.Cells(3, 1)
ActiveSheet.Cells(3, 1).Select
ActiveSheet.PivotTables("PivotTable2").AddFields RowFields:=Array(" ", _
"Channel", "Sales/Exchange", "Mode of transp.", "Sold-to Party", "Material", "Data")

While it creates the first pivot table fine, after deleting it and starting again it wants to create the next sequence (PivotTable3) which crashes the macro. I must close the file and reopen to run it again.

Macro Selecting Cells Via Variable?

Once selected I need the macro to copy the selected cells to the clipboard for another application to be able to paste that info.

So far I've been able to get the copy command to work and the range command to work but can't seem to figure out how to put the variable number from B1 into the range command.

Running Macro On All Selected Cells Instead Of Just One?

Apr 17, 2014

Just started using Macros on Excel.

I recorded a Macro that would take a value of a particular cell and add that value to the selected cell in the same row. However, this macro just runs on one cell and I want it to run on the entire row.

This may seem like a trivial issue but I've been racking my brain for the last couple of days to figure it out.

Here is the VBA code of the Macro I recorded. It adds the cell value to another cell with formulas already in it as you will see below:

Sub SpreadingTest15()
'
' SpreadingTest15 Macro
'
'
ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 = _
"=IF(MarRF!RC9=""Trade"",IFERROR(IF(RC12=""BL"",RC13/12,INDEX('Variable Data'!R4C2:R16C17,MATCH('1410-Rev'!RC14,'Variable Data'!R4C2:R16C2,0),MATCH('1410-Rev'!R14C,'Variable Data'!R4C2:R4C17,0))*RC13),0),IF(RC14=R14C,RC13,0))+(RC35)"
ActiveCell.Select

Specify Cells In View After Running Macro

May 19, 2007

I've written code to create sheets and populate them with data from other sheets. Other subs then work through each row in those sheets to find data for summary sheets. I've frozen the panes on each sheet so that the header rows are always shown. The problem is that after all the code is run, the 'view' on each sheet is the bottom of the table of data (because each row has been worked through in turn) when actually I want my users to see the top row of data. I've tried selecting and activating cell A5 (top of my table) in the last few lines of code (after all the other subs have run) but neither seems to do the trick. There must be a way to specifiy which part of the sheet is visible after running code.

Copy Text From One Cell To Multiple Other Cells

Feb 1, 2014

I have two separate data files that I am trying to combine into one worksheet. One set of data looks something like this:

Column A Column B ColumnC
Date1 Name1
Date1 Name2
Date1 Name3
Date2 Name1
Date2 Name2
Date2 Name3

This is repeated for something like 200 dates, and there could be anything from 1 to 10 lines for each date, for a total of over 1000 rows.

The other data file has this information:

Column A Column B ColumnC
Date1 Place1
Date2 Place2
Date3 Place3

I.e. one line for each date.

I want to combine the data so that Column C contains the Place data. All I could think to do was combine them and then sort by Column A, so I ended up with this:

Column A Column B ColumnC
Date1 Name1
Date1 Name2
Date1 Name3
Date1 Place1
Date2 Name1
Date2 Name2
Date2 Name3
Date2 Place2

And then I would just copy and paste to end up with this:

Column A Column B ColumnC
Date1 Name1 Place1
Date1 Name2 Place1
Date1 Name3 Place1
Date1 Place1
Date2 Name1 Place2
Date2 Name2 Place2
Date2 Name3 Place2
Date2 Place2

Ultimately I want to sort the combined data by Column C, I just have to get the data in there first.

Is there a formula or macro or something I could use to copy the Place names automatically? Each worksheet with 1000 lines and several dozen worksheets means I'd have to copy and paste dozens of thousands of times, which is a bit tedious.
