May 7, 2013How does one do a save with a new name while keeping the original file intact - with the original file name? Would a macro be required?

Aug 27, 2008I have VBA program that collect the data from database and make a report.(I will mention I open the browser to look for database )
Here is a problem:
My original file is " Daily Report.xlt(template) " .At the begin when I open this file ,the file name appear as a " Daily Report1 "...This is not big deal
When I run macros I need to keep some info on the original file.
After I done, I have following code to save as " Daily Report.xlt " .
but the actual problem is ;the code save this file on the database path that I don't want it.Actually I want to overwrite on original file to keep that file up to date.Here is code

Mar 21, 2008I don't believe this is possible but I've been wrong before.. Is it at all possible to Kill the current workbook using VBA? I " saved as" in another location and do not wish to keep the current workbook.

The code is pretty standard but it does not work if the file is stored in C: (only c: ) Is that a bug or am I doing something wrong? Jun 14, 2008I want to have a user press a button on a worksheet page to save a copy of the workbook (and be able to name it and choose where to save it to) without closing or modifying the original. Note that if you "save as" manually it renames the workbook and closes the original.

When i try it from one location it is fine but from another location i get a print error, the error says prit quality is not right, when i debug it highlights: Print Quality = 600 I have tried changing it but keep getting the same error. Their maybe an easier way to do this but not being very good on VB i dont know what to do. This file is on a server and will be accessed from different locations.

Looking in Visual Basic Help, it appears that I need to create a FileSystemObject, but I have no idea what that means or how to do it. sDirectory is a string variable of the path of the file and sBatch is a string variable of the name of file. This isn't working.

Export Csv Without Changing The Format Of The Original File
Nov 20, 2013In any other software, when I save a copy, or export to a different format the original file remains unaffected but in an excel it seems to work differently...and I end up having to save my file back to the xslx format. this extra time wasted when I am regularly exporting but it also makes me a bit nervous that I might accidentally not save back to the format with all my worksheets etc etc..

Apr 26, 2009I have an Excell 2003 workbook with 6 worksheets and some VBA programmed macros in it.
With a small amount of data the .xls file size is 150k. Then I tested it with a much larger sample of data, which goes into one of the worksheets, resulting size 3MB. Later on I reverted to reading in the original small amount of data but the file size stubbornly sticks to 400k instead of reverting to 150k.
The old data is definitely not there anymore - I used this code to clear it:

Look for a field called "Date Created"
Some dates you can edit/change, but I haven't figured out how to change this one yet. I'd like to know because I have a need to change the date on a particular spreadsheet.

SaveAs - Copy Sheet Into New Workbook And Save It In Same Folder As Original Workbook
Jun 17, 2014I have been trying to edit a code which previously saved a copy in a new workbook to a specific folder/path. (Additionally it copies and clears some figures, but this is working as it should.)
However I would like the copy to be saved at the same location as the original workbook, regardless of the path the original workbook is saved.
I.e if I need to move the workbook containing the code to a new folder/location, when using the macro, the new copy should be stored in the same folder/location as the original one.
For now it is only saving the copy into "My Documents"

Apr 15, 2014I have an Excel Worksheet (let's call it "AA.xlsm") which uses VBA code to loop through column A, update column B with some results/values, and then (for each value in column A) SaveAs the worksheet into a different filename/path as a ".csv" type file.
My line of code for the SaveAs is as follows: Workbooks("AA.xlsm").SaveAs LEpath & CurrFldr, FileFormat:=xlCSV
My problem is that my original worksheet, AA.xlsm, gets closed whereas I need it to stay open/active after each SaveAs iteration.

Aug 21, 2012What I am trying to do is that I have an excel file with macros and it is a read-only file. In order for the user to save, I want them to only be able to save as a .xlsx file as it disables all macros. If for whatever reason, the user wants to save the file as another .xlsm file, they should be allowed but before they save, a "are you sure you want to save as .xlsm?" message should pop up.
All the options in the save as box should still be available in case they want to save in that particular format. Just that the .xlsx should be the default.

My problem is in the date formula the day is not always the same. In the sample case it's 03 at other times the day will change.

Excel Not Allowing To Save File With Uppercase Letters In File Name?
Jan 27, 2014A co-worker of mine is exporting files from Quickpen as excel files, but every time he names the files with any Uppercase letters in the files name, they are automatically changing to all lower case. Even when he tries to rename the files, they will not stay with any uppercase letters....I have searched all over and cannot find a solution. If he sends ME the file, I can open it in excel and save it with any cases.

Jul 10, 2014I have a Workbook that already has a macro in it that will generate multiple sheets based on certain criteria.
For each of these newly generated sheets (numbered 1-6 in the attached example), I need to be able save each of them to a PDF file based on a unique name contained in a certain cell (in this case, each named is referenced in cell Q1 of each sheet). As such, I should end up with 6 pdfs based on the attached sample files.
The PDFs would ideally need to be landscaped and should be just 1 page per sheet.
In my attached sample workbook, you'll notice that I have a "PracticePrint" macro that doesn't quite get the job done. One other criteria involves not printing any sheet with the characters "1010" in it (my PracticePrint macro is setup to do that, but it fails to do much else).

Oct 10, 2011I have written the following simple macro to import some data into a worksheet and then prompt the user to save the file in Excel 2003 format (the system to which we will upload this data does not accept formats later than 2003). The template is in "*.xlsm" format.
The code executes without error, but when the user hits the "Save" button in the "Save As" dialog box, nothing happens. The "Save As" box closes, but no file is saved.
