Set Window Size Based On Screen Resolution

Mar 5, 2008

I have an Excel based application that needs to run with a screen resolution of 1024*768 in order to display correctly. Is it possible to use VBA to detect the users screen resolution. Then: If the screen resolution is not set to 1024*768 then resize Excel's main window to run at that width and height?

Auto-Adjust Workbook To Screen Resolution

I am using code to auto adjust screen resolution when opening a workbook so that my workbook will span that computer screen of anyone opening it.

How to taylor it specifically for each worksheet as they differ in size in terms of what cells are used??

Code:

Private Sub Workbook_Open()
Dim Vis_Rnge As Range
Dim Data_Rnge As Range
Dim X_Fact As Double
Dim Y_Fact As Double

ActiveWindow.Zoom = 100

Auto-Adjust Screen Resolution When Opening A File

Sep 18, 2007

I have made an excel spreadsheet. The area with data exactly fills my screen.

When I send it to other colleagues, it perfectly fills their screen too. But for some colleagues the data area is either too big for their screen or takes up a small proportion of their screen based on their screen resolution. I would like the area with data to perfectly fill the screen of all people who will access the file.

I am thinking that I would do an automatic event so that I can change the settings upon opening the file. I have Excel VBA programming for Dummies which explains about automatic events but I have no idea what sort of sub procedure to use.

Set Window Size With VBA.

Feb 1, 2010

I'm looking for a way to use VBA to set the window size upon opening the workbook. When the document opens, there should be two windows, each taking up half the screen and each on a particular tab.

Currently, if I save the workbook with the window settings I want, when I open it, both windows are maximized. When I hit the restore button, they go back the settings with which they were saved, which is what I want it to look like as soon as it's opened. Also, a bonus would be for the code to determine the screen size, so it can fill the screen no matter what monitor/computer it's opened on.

Minimized Window Halfway Off Screen - Can't Move Back Down

Nov 11, 2008

Somehow I dragged a minimized window in Excel so that the top bar (where you click to drag) is hidden off the screen and now I can't drag it back down.

I can maximize the window through a right mouse click on the task bar.

Alt Space does not enable the "move" function.

I have restarted excel, closed it through the "X" and through the task bar. I have rebooted. I have renamed my file.

How To Size App. Window To Fit Cells? (not Zoom)

Oct 16, 2009

This "smells" like a simple question, but I've had no luck finding a way to [programmatically] adjust the App.Window to fit around some cells.

I've found "Application.Goto", also the Application.Width/Height setting. The App.Width setting is pixel based, so if there's an easy way to know a cell's pixel-location, that'll work too!

Interpolating Data At 5-minute Resolution Down To 1-minute Resolution

Nov 27, 2013

Entering a formula which will allow me to expand my data set by interpolating between sets of x,y values. My data set is in 5-minute resolution and I would like to interpolate so that I can output a new set of x,y values in 1-minute resolution. Here is my example of what I have and what I would like my end result to be, and also I have attached a sample of my data set in the below excel file:

Original data set
Date TimeTemperature oC
6/12/13 13:30 18.28
6/12/13 13:35 17.9

Closed - No Resolution- Lookup Formula

Apr 16, 2009

I have a two worksheet file.

On one worksheet I have every day of the year (work day) and corresponding data for many topics for that day in the column.

On the other worksheet I want the user to type in a date and have the data for that day from the first worksheet display in a specific cell (based on the date entered at the top of the sheet) on the second worksheet.

I think it is some type of lookup formula but am not sure.

Enter todays date on one worksheet and have data display based on that date from a second worksheet. The data on the second worksheet would be manually updated every day.

Conditional Formatting Based On Range Size?

Jan 10, 2014

I have created a speadsheet for a tournament that lists the team names down column A (leaving a heading row). I have a formula in the top row which copies each row heading to a column heading 2 columns wide (to be able to record a result)

Formula: =INDIRECT(ADDRESS(ROUNDUP((COLUMN()+1)/2,0),1))

This way it will be possible to keep the results of the tournament on a grid. I would like to put in conditional formatting that meets 3 criteria...

1, it must fill every second row but only fill cells that have column and row headings (ie. rows that will have content in them which will be determined by the number of entrants). eg. if i have 10 teams then every odd row from row 1 to 11 will be filled. If 40 teams register then every odd row from 1 to 41 will be filled. 2, the fill needs to only fill cells that have column and row headings eg. if 10 teams register then every odd row from column 1 to 21 will be filled. Then 3, If the row heading and column heading are equal then it need to gray out or fill a different colour (or lock cell contents to empty if possible) but again, only fill cells that have column and row headings.

I have 2 rules.

Rule 1: =(ADDRESS(1,EVEN(COLUMN()-1)))=INDIRECT(ADDRESS(ROW(),1)) PROBLEM:

It needs to only fill cells that have a column and row heading which it doesn't, it fills the correct cells untill there is no column heading then fills every other cell in columns beyond the last column with a heading.

Rule 2: so far this works:

=AND(MOD(ROW(),2)>0)

but when i try to restrict it to cells with row and column headings it doesn't work. This is what I had:

=AND(MOD(ROW(),2)>0,IsEmpty(INDIRECT(ADDRESS(ROW(1),COLUMN()))"")=FALSE) OR =AND(MOD(ROW(),2)>0,CELL("contents""",ADDRESS(ROW(1),COLUMN())))

VBA To SHADE Cells Based On: Step-size & Starting Cell

As such, to make filling out the column(s) fool-proof, I want to grey out cells in which data should not be entered.

For example, if the payment frequency is every 6th day, and the payments are to begin on day 0, then days 0, 6, 12 (etc) should be left white, whereas the remainder of the cells should be shaded.

I can achieve this using multiple conditional formatting rules in excel2007 with iterations of formulae of the type:

Yes/No Pop-up Window

Aug 28, 2006

I have a certain macro which copies data from one file to the other. There are several target files (refering to a given month each) and one source file. The user chooses a month from a drop down list in the source file which modifies a certain cell. The value of this cell decides on which of the 12 target files will be opened to paste the data to. The macro also copies the value of a cell which refers to the current date (=TODAY()) This number is then compared with a the range (value between two pints in time: start and end date of a given month). All I need is some sort of a pop-up window with a header i.e. WARNING. and the window text: You are about to send the information to a file which does not refere to the current month, are you sure you want to perform this action" and two buttons YES and NO in case the value of the current date does not match the range set up by the starting and ending of a given month in the target file. The button YES would then do waht ever the code that was placed before the pop-up window said, save the aplication and close it, and the NO button would simply close the aplicatiown without saving it. Something like that:

Sub Export()
'the whole code describing the action to be taken
If Range("A1").Value >= Range("A3").Value And Range("A1").Value <= Range("A2").Value Then
'here the A1 cell refers to the current date and cells A2 and A3 to the start and the end date of the month
End Sub
