Sheet Names And Hyperlinks
Aug 17, 2007
I have searched the forum and I have seem quite a few referrences to this question but can't find exactly what I'm looking for. I'm using the first sheet in the worksbook as a splash screen which has lots of button macros on there. I want to add one more which will make a list on this sheet from cell b25 down with all the sheet names in the workbook which are also clickable hyperlinks. Does anyone have any idea how to do this, so far I can make a list of the names..
Sub Index()
Dim ws As Worksheet
Dim I As Long
I = 25
For Each ws In Worksheets
If ws.Name "Actions" And ws.Name "summary" And ws.Name "Archive" Then
Worksheets("Summary").Range("B" & I) = ws.Name
I = I + 1
End If
Next ws
End Sub
But have no idea how to make these names clickable which will make the relevant sheet active. If it helps the sheet name is also in cell A2 of every sheet.

I wrote the following macro to create hyperlinked Table of contents on the first sheet of a workbook. It works great unless the sheet name has a space in it, i.e. "new sheet" as opposed to "newsheet". Any way to get it to work for either/ or?

I have two sheets. Sheet A has a list of folders. This list is updates dynamically every time the sheet is opened. I have another sheet (sheet B) which has a list of all the files in the sub-folders, listed with the folder name at the top of the column and the files within in the column underneath with hyperlinks to them. The goal is to be able to navigate to the folders on sheet A and to click there to go to the column where all the files in that folder are linked to. What I need is a macro that will search a column and for every cell that has text in it and create in the column directly to the right a hyperlink to the appropriate cell in the top row in sheet B that has the same name as the text in the cell on sheet A that it finds. I already have the macros for listing the folders on sheet A and the macro for listing all the files in the sub folders in sheet B and they work fine. The goal is a link list which is dynamic and that recreates itself no matter what I add to the folders.
For instance, let’s say there is a folder timesheets. If I add a sub-folder called
accounting to the folder Sheet A scans then timesheets would be bumped down one spot on the list, so the macro has to look dynamically for the text in the column on sheet A.
Also the addition of the new folder would move the order of the columns on sheet B, since both lists are alphabetical. So the link generation macro would need to search row 1 of Sheet B to find the match for the text in the cell to the left of where the link would be generated and create a link to the top of that column. I’ve looked all through the site and not found something that I can even modify to do what I need.

I have a workbook with 32 sheets. The first 31 sheets are hyperlinked to the 32nd sheet, which holds the summary from the other 31 sheets. Now, if I am in Sheet7 and click on the hyperlink in sheet7, it will take me to the summary sheet. That part is OK. But I want to know is it possible to go back to the sheet from where I reached the summary sheet (in this case sheet7 itself) with hyperlinks.

Two part question:
1) I'm relatively new to arrays, but what I need to do is generate a list of file names and the sheets within each one. I would like to use an array for this, but since I don't have much experience.... well....that's why I'm here. Can someone point me in the right direction?
2) And the second part of this.... I was planning on using the FileSystemObject to determine the files in a selected folder and loop through that list of files, opening each one and harvesting the required info (file name and all sheet names). Should I use the FSO or is there something built into Excel that might be better (and also limit the number of dependencies for this little "project" of mine).

Is there a way I can do this without going through each one?

I am trying to place a hyperlink on each worksheet to an Index worksheet. This is what I come up with so far, and it does not work.
Code:
Sub CreateIndexHyperlinks()
Dim ws As Worksheet
For Each ws In Worksheets
ws.Hyperlinks.Add Anchor:=ws.Range("H1"), Address:="", SubAddress:="Index", TextToDisplay:="Back to Index"
Next ws
End Sub
It successfully puts the words "Back to Index" into cell H8 of every worksheet, but this cell does not link back to the Index sheet (which is called "Index"), the way I want it to.
I don't really understand the Address and SubAddress part of the argument for the Hyperlinks.Add method. I am guessing the Address part is "" because I am linking to a place in the same workbook. Is that right?
I tried changing the SubAddress to Worksheets("Index") and Worksheets("Index").Range("A1") but that just resulted in an error message.

I need to make a Workbook that has hyperlinks in the first sheet that links to a cell in a second sheet and then back again. The only way I have been able to do this is manually create each link in each sheet. I am hoping that this process can be automated as they can not be 'filled' as far as I can see. find attached an example of what I am trying to achieve.

I have developed a template with tabs for Jan thru Dec, and a Template tab that has the report. the VB code copies the file as a new workbook whenever the year changes, creating something linke 07_Reports.xls. It also copies the "Template" to each Jan-ded tab and adds descriptive info to indicate that it is Jan or Feb etc. There are several sheets, and each has 3 or 4 different reports across the columss. each report has a month by month summary at the top,and daily details for each month down below, with each month detail beginning at 100 row intervals and having a row for each day of the month. i use the month names at the top as hyperlinks to jump to that month's detail.
when the file is created the hyperlinks are not copied from the template tab to each Jan-dec tab. Is there a way to have the Template tab use some type of Relative Reference.
If not is there a way to loop through the Template sheet and identify the properties of all the hyperlinks that exist on the sheet. I have over 30 of these Report templates, one for each Water Well that is involed in this project.
so..
1 - can hyperlinks be relative so that they copy and setup on different worksheets when copied.
2 - if not is there a way to read thru the rows/columns of the worksheet and identify which cells in the template have a hyperlink, get the properties of it, and have vb code create that in the crated tab worksheets.

I have a spreadsheet and within the first sheet there are lots of hyperlinks to other cells within sheet 1 (my template).
I have made a small macro which very basically makes a copy of sheet 1 (my template)
The hyperlinks in the template are explicit and as they are copied to sheet two, they still reference back to cells in sheet 1. I need the hyperlinks to be relative, so that when I make a copy of the template the hyperlinks are copied and make reference to cells in the new sheet. I cannot work out how this should be done

I have workbook that has several sheets within the workbook that are set up identical. Each of the sheets in the workbook are for a specific company.
As of right now I have been adding a sheet to the workbook that is an overview for what is in each sheet (the individual companies). Currently I am doing the formatting of the heading and column names manually and I pull the data from each sheet with a VLookup. I have been trying to enhance my VBA skills with coding something that will fill in the appropriate cells from worksheet to worksheet.
What I am trying to do is to populate an overview sheet with cells C24, C25, and B36 being static on each row per sheet. Then each row will be populated with cells C(36, 59, 70, 81), D(36, 59, 70, 81), F(36, 59, 70, 81), G, and H(36, 59, 70, 81). The overview sheet will have the diagram below in a ru

B36

I have three charts in my workbook. I want to attach a macro so that when the chart is clicked it returns to Sheet - Home. I have using the following:
worksheets("Home").activate. But after I protect each chart and the workbook, and save and exit. When I reload the Workbook it has forgotten the assigned macros and nothing happens.

I’ve had a look through the forum and on some of the guides/FAQ but thanks to my ineptitude I have been unable to adapt any of the examples to my specific situation.
What I’m after is this: I need to create a summary sheet for a work book with a variable number of tabs. All I need the summary sheet to do is to make a table of the name of the tab and then cell A17. How would I go about doing this and is it possible to save this macro to my machine/all workbooks instead of just the one?

In Column A row 4 of sheet1 I have an account name, for example Sonic, and I have a sheet named the account name, Sonic. In Column B row 4, of sheet1, I would like to return the value in Column B row 3 in sheet named Sonic, or the account named sheet.
I have about 50 different account names along Column A in sheet1, and the same account name sheets opened in the same workbook. Is there a good formula or vba code that will work for all the values in Column A of sheet1 to look for the same named sheet and return the values off of that? Note: on the account sheets in Column A it says ‘Account’ for all of them.. this wasn’t a mistype

How can I obtain the sheet-level name through VBA? I'm not referring to the sheet (tab) name but the name as defined though Insert/Define or Insert/Create, etc .
I know the way to get the cell level name goes something like this:
MsgBox Sheet1.Range("A1").Name.Name
But i don't know the correct syntax for sheet level.

I made a macro that will name the current sheet whatever text is found in cell B2 on that sheet. This works great unless that sheet name already exists.
If the sheet name already exists, is there a way to rename it as Cell B2 plus the number 2 after the title so it doesn't cause an error?
Example:
"Smith, Bob" is a sheet name, so the macro would make the new sheet name "Smith, Bob 2"
Alternatively, how could I give a pop-up telling about the error and deleting the current sheet instead of renaming it with a "2"?
Eample:
"Sorry, 'Smith, Bob' already exists. Deleting new sheet." as a popup and have it delete the current sheet.

Running Windows CP; Excel 2003
The Board looks full of some interesting issues today.
I'm working on a workbook that hides and unhides a lot of columns depending on the month the user has selected. No problems here.
The sheets are named regionally, ie National 2008, California 2008 etc. The user is able to select the month and the year from separate combo boxes.
So when 2009 comes around I will need to rewrite many lines of code to point the VBA to the new worksheet names like National 2009, California 2009. My question is, is there a way to reference either variable worksheet names in the VBA or some other manner in which to write the code so I don't need to rewrite every year change?
I currently reference the sheets something like Sheets ("National 2008").Range("H:H").EntireColumn.Hidden=True

For Each Ctrl In UserForm1.Controls
