Feb 21, 2008Not sure if this can be done, but is there a way I can write a sumif formula to add up all amounts which are in Italics? I dont want to use VBA, just a simple excel formula. Is this possible?

I'm looking to set up a spreadsheet whereby individuals answer questions and have to format their answer using a particular font, colour, font size and so on. The idea is that I can then compare their answer sheet to a pre completed one using an =IF function and get a total score. The only problem is =if and =exact only lookup cell text/numbers and don't look at how the text is formatted within them.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am preparing a model for a client that runs excel 2003. I need to change the format of a range based on the value in a cell (reference cell) that is outside the range to be reformatted.
Reference cell is a named cell with the value calculated with a Match() function, the only possible values are (1, 2, 3).
I need the VBA code to retrieve the reference cell value and apply one of three formats to the range. I believe the code for that part is something like:
Private Sub Format_Font()
Set vrange = Range("d63:r63")
Set refrange = Names("ind_agentfee").RefersTo
Set refrange = Mid(refrange, 2)
On Error Resume Next
If refrange = 1 Then
With vrange.Font
.Style = "Comma"
.NumberFormat = "_(* #,##0.0_);_(* (#,##0.0);_(* ""-""??_);_(@_)"
Else
If refrange = 2 Then
With vrange.Font
.Style = "Comma"
.NumberFormat = "_(* #,##0_);_(* (#,##0);_(* ""-""??_);_(@_)"
Else
.Style = "Percent"
End If
End Sub
I am having problems getting the proper opening statements and declarations correct and also get an "Else without Then" error with all combination's that I am attempting. I am sure that the code is mess now as I started with a recorded macro then modified it multiple times while researching the web.
I need to create a macro that will examine a range of cells, for example D12:T12, find the cell with the largest number value in that range then set the font for that cell to bold (or red, or change the cell background color).
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have attached an example file.. Basically I want the text in a range to change to red if one cell="Description".
Also, I want a cell's text to turn blue if it's corresponding data in the row says "Click on Title to Follow Link"
The example file explains it a lot better..
Thanks for the help.. Sorry if this may seem like a duplicate post but I was not able to get any of the examples I searched for to work that others have posted.. Also, maybe conditional formatting would be an option here but I could not get it to work as it will only meet the first condition that comes across thats true...

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am working on a spreadsheet for work, and have managed to do everything I need to so far but I need to colour specific letter strings, certain colours within a range of cells (each letter string will only appear once on each sheet)
The strings I will be looking for vary depending on data entered so I will need to cell reference them
The strings that need colouring are in cells with other strings that must stay black (They cannot be separated from other strings due to the nature of the grid)
I need some strings red, some green, and some blue.
These changes should also apply to the whole workbook not just one sheet.
Is there a way to do this with the VBA code.
I have two conditions setup in Options>View - Zero Values.", "style="background: #FFFFFF;padding: 2px;font-size: 10px;width: 550px;"");' onmouseout='GAL_hidepopup();'>formatting.htm" target="_blank">conditional formatting. Cell Value is between $P$10 and $Q$10. This sets the font bold and a different color. The two cell values are two dates. I want to change the cells font color and bolding as long as the value is within that date range. It works fine, but for cells that are on the row that is colored the second condition doesn't apply for some reason.
how to create an if statement based on font properties.
I did a couple searches on "conditional formatting" but didn't find anything, and it seems like the only way would be through a macro, am i correct? I'd much rather be able to do this on a formula sheet if possible.
Somehow my tab names (in 2003) have a very small font size. How do I return the size to normal?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have my Excel set up for a default font size of 12 point.
I often download CSV data to insert into spreadsheets. It opens in a new spreadsheet, and it's properly displayed in 12 point size. When i copy and paste it into the ultimate target spreadsheet (which is also set to 12 point size) the pasted data shows up as 10-point and I have to change the font size back to 12-point every time.
Why is this happening and how can I avoid that re-sizing that occurs?
I'm using conditional formatting for column k that turns the cells blue (RGB 0, 0, 255) if the condition is met. I want to be able to delete all other cells where the condition is not met using a macro.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am building up a formatted invoice, line by line all of which is working well from the data point of view but no quite so well from the presentation point.
My text is all in Arial 12pt and I have the row height set to "Auto" and cell alignment to wrap text (at least one cell per row often has 3-4 lines of text so I need "text wrap" on)
My issue is that the printed output from a multi row invoice looks "crowded" and as this is the view the client gets to see (and hopefully pay ) the look is important. I tried to set the row heights to say .71cm but that causes the text wrap to stop working correctly.
I think I am trying to get some form of "inside top" and "inside bottom" adjustment / fill / padding (which is what I would do if I was using some form of documentation tool like Madcap Flare for example) but I cannot see how to do it in excel.
This probably sounds really weird, but does anyone know whether the size of the text in Cell A1 on Sheet 1 can be linked to the size of the text in Cell B2 on Sheet 2? Like, when I change the size of Cell A1's text, is there a way to have the size of Cell B2's text change as well?

I'm a beginner to VBA and I have a dataset with different loan rates for different schools. So far I can highlight rows based on their rate and order them from least to greatest.
What I want is to be able to restore all of the font to default (i.e. undo the highlighting) without changing the format of a specific column of cells (My G column, with the loan rates, goes from Percentage format to General format)
I'm using Selection.ClearFormats, which changes the format of the cells to general as well as it only restores the format of the cells I highlight, rather than the entire worksheet
So basically, how can I delete all formatting of all cells without changing the cell format (Percentage vs General)?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a spreadsheet which has some cells with blue font. If anyone tries to manually change the contents of these cells a worksheet change macro reads the colour index of the font and, if it is 5 (blue), uses "application.undo" to repair the damage.
When I use the sheet on another computer, the same font colur is being read as a four digit number, 4015 I think from memory, and the code doesn't work.
where do I add the font.bold = true if I want to make this part of the array in bold only?
rProd.Offset(3, 0).Resize(, 6) = Array("HandOver By:", "", "", "", "", "Received By:")

I have a script that sets font color. I think it uses something called "myColor" to define the color, and then pulls the color from a palette of 57 colors.
But how can use the "color" property instead, so I can have a broader range of colors? I can't tell how it would fit into my code. "MyColor" doesn't even show up in Excel's help file.
Here is the code. How can I adjust it so that I can use, like, "RGB 0, 0, 255" instead of color 32?
Or how would you code it so you could set color that way?

If Target.Column < 8 Then Exit Sub
If Target.Column > 9 Then Exit Sub

I have added drop down lists using the Validation>Data feature and can get this to create the drop-down box, but the font is unreadable. If I create a new sheet and create the drop-down list it becomes readable. I can't figure out why the first is unreadable due to its small size. I eventually plan to add formulas to calculate how many yes's or no's in a column, but will address that later. I use Excel 2003.
