Whenever aiming to open, copy, or delete files, the following VBA code is rather a must
Dim SOMETHING
Set SOMETHING = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
in that we may then continue with either
SOMETHING.CopyFile (source), destination, True
or
SOMETHING.DeleteFile what_to_delete, True
etc, etc
The question: which type a variable is SOMETHING from above? Furthermore, could anybody please help me to understand why never seen in literature a complete declaration such as
Dim SOMETHING As what_type?

One of my workbooks won't allow me to use the VBE variable types (VBProject, VBComponent, etc.) They aren't on the popup list that appears when I type " as ". If I just type in "VBProject", I get a compile error "User-defined type not defined". I have to define the variable as object, and the macro still works. I do not have this problem in any other workbook.

I am currently working in an application in which I use the following user defined types:
Public Type correlationstruct
corr As Variant
corrstd As Variant
lower As Variant
upper As Variant
support As Variant
End Type
I have a public variable called myctafund, of type ctafund:
Public myctafund As ctafund
My problem is the following: When I need to update myctafund, I first want to clean it entirely before putting new values, so as to be sure older values do not stick around (I do not necessarily overwrite all the values of the mycta type).I can't figure out a way of clearing the entire myctafund variable in one shot. I tried:
myctafund=empty
but I am granted by a nasty excel error. I'd like to avoid writing 200 lines of code just to clean the entire variable.

Here's what I'm doing: I'm using a macro to assign a cell value to a variable then set another cell value to the variable instead of copy/paste (because even pasting values only was affecting other formulas in the file for some reason)
The problem: in using the macro, the number being 'copied' is acquiring a few extra decimal places IE 38334.61 is the original number and 38334.609375 is what I end up with. The numbers come from a CSV with only 2 decimal places and I checked by adding decimal places in the format so it's not a formatting/visible digits issue. Since the values are hour meter readings, the extra decimal places end up with very small values outside 0-24 hrs which messes with sorting and usage %. The values are so small all of them together in a month add up to a fraction of a cent but it's one of those things that bugs my OCD by not being right.
My VBA book explains the min/max capabilities, content type, memory bits but not fiddly details like this.
So my question is this: right now I'm declaring the clipboard-substitue variable as an single, is there a different one that would work better without adding anything? Criteria are: numeric, 6 digits before the decimal, 2 after, all positive values. (Ie 123456.12)

I have the following codes in my spreadsheet, they are pretty much the same and both used to work perfectly. However, now the first code returns a Type Mismatch '13' on line beginning mynum= and the second one works perfectly.

How to assign a variable of type Long to the below code.
1) Dim searchField as LOng
ActiveSheet.Range("N2").FormulaArray = "=MAX(IF($A$2:$A$200=""" & searchField & """,$C$2:C$200))"
2) ActiveSheet.Range("N2").FormulaArray = "=MAX(IF($A$2:$A$200= searchField,$C$2:C$200))"
1) code failed because I want the variable searchField to have a data type of LONG.
2) code failed because it seems like excel thought the search criteria is of same searchField.
How to convert date to general format and store it in a variable of data type Long. I.E if I convert 3/15/2008(data type of Date) to data type of General, it should be 39522. What is the VBA code for doing this conversion?

In my spreadsheet below I want to be able to enter a sales number for January, the value of cell F2.
I want cells F3 thru F12 to automatically calculate according to the "Growth Per Month" value in cell H1.
Example: If January sales are 20,000, then February should calculate to 21,000 (january * 105%).

I'm trying to write a Macro that, in the active sheet (which contains plenty of data), deletes rows according to several criteria, for example:
- if cell(i, ar1(j)) = ERROR, delete row i and shift 1 up
(ar1 is an array of column numbers)
- if cell(i, ar3(j)) = 0, delete row i and shift 1 up
(ar3 is another array of column numbers)
Etc.
The problem is that, when I run it, I get a "Type Mismatch" error message, and I don't understand why. Here is the

As shown in the below image. I have some data from A13 to I 13. Currently if I put the cursor on A13 and press DELETE button then all the formatting from A13 to I13 goes off. But the data still remain there.
Is it possible then when I press DELETE the content of A13 then all the data from B13 to I13 should also get deleted ?

On the attached Excel file, I have code that will insert a variable number of rows and copy and paste from and to variable positions. That all works fine when run from a command button, but when I try to run it from the Worksheet_Calculate by entering 1 in J1 or K1 (inrange cell is J1+K1 for testing purposes) the CommandButton1_Click sub runs continously until an error occurs.

I'm fairly new to macro's and VBA, by searching on the internet i've copied and pasted some code together into a macro.
But it ends in a Run-time error 91...
The macro opens a target .xls file in a selected folder, performs copy - paste actions from masterfile to targetfile.
Than it filters data in the targetfile sheet1 and copy's the results to the various other sheets; saves and closes the targetfile.
The next target file in the folder is opened and the actions are repeated in this second target file.
For the first target file this works smoothly; but for the second one (of a total of around 100) it does not copy the filter results to the other sheets in this workbook.
The error message i get is: "Run-time error 91:Object variable or with block variable not set."
When i hit debug it highlights the line "ActiveSheet.Next.Select" which, at least in the first file, seems ok.

I need a macro that will create a sheet at the end of the workbook.
Sum data from a variable amount of sheets and display that data on the created sheet.
Here is a step by step:
Starting on sheet 5.
Column D has a variable amount of part numbers in it. These part numbers would be different between the ascending sheets.
Column T, U, V has an inputed number in it that would need added up across all duplicate part numbers in all the sheets.
(Note: The data would also need started on row 4. Everything above row 4 is headers)
Here is a small example:
D E T U V
13019090W Part A1
68705500 Part B1
64202900 Part C-11
59634600 Part D1
26005300W Part E1
I need the macro to start with sheet #5(starting on row 4). Check to see if there is data in column T, U or V. If there is, to create a new sheet at the end. And copy the entire line into that sheet (starting on row 4).
After that, to check every sheet after (excluding the newly created one, starting on row 4) for data in Column T, U and V. And then check for duplicates in Column D on the newly created sheet. If there is a duplicate to add/subtract that number in Column T, U and V to the SUM in column T, U and V in the newly created sheet. If there is no duplicate, to copy the entire line to the new sheet.
So that when finished. On the new sheet, you have the SUM of T, U and V for everything that has data in T, U or V for all of the previous sheets, plus the entire line of the first instance (excluding the first 4 sheets).

I attempted to modify "macro_1a1ay" to look into the "comments" sheet (column a) for a specific text string. If that text string is found, I have it delete the entire row, then re-sort the page and return to the calling page. It works well as long as it finds something. When it does not find the string (i.e. like now when the page is blank) it gives me the run-time error mentioned above.

I am having a lot of trouble finding out why I am getting error. I believe the error is because it can't find the number. In cells C115:C314 i have the numbers 1 to 200 in order. when someone types in 1 to 9 in the text box it works, but on 10 and over i get the error ???? here is the code I have

I have a spreadsheet form with all kind of values and what I want to do is to find a data in a worksheet named "Config" based on the spreadsheet activecell value. With the find row adress I return data of another column but same row (in the worksheet) in two diferent label captions. Say you define a public range variable called Inputworksheet and you set it to refer to the worksheet called Inputworksheet. You have a separate string variable with the value Inputworksheet. How do you get this string variable value to call/control the range variable Inputworksheet?
I am getting an excel worksheet value from a lookup function that corresponds to the name of a VBA range variable. Once I have this worksheet value, I would like to use the range variable that has the same name as the worksheet value.
