I tried testing, msgbox displays the correct last modified file "MMO Activity Report 09-29-06.xls" in path D:MMOWorkfile but I was not able to open the workbook.
Sub testGetNewestFile()
MsgBox NewestFile("D:MMOWorkfile", "*.xls")
Workbooks.Open (NewestFile("D:MMOWorkfile", "*.xls"))
I cannot figure out how to get my error handler to work, or actually, not work. It seems to work fine when there is an error, but the code still gets read even when there was not an error. Basically, I am trying to open a file, which may or may not be there. When it is not there I want a message to pop up informing the user. However, when the file is there and it opens, the error handler still gives the message box. Any ideas what I am doing wrong?
Private Sub btnOK_Click() Application. ScreenUpdating = False Dim LCSfile As String LCSfile = frmSelectFile.Listbox1.Value On Error Goto ErrHandler Workbooks.Open Filename:=sPath & sDate & "" & LCSfile & "QUANT.CSV" ErrHandler: MsgBox ("File is not quantitated. Please select another file.") Application.ScreenUpdating = True
I use excel 2002 but some of my office are on 97, i want to add a small workbook open event code which works for me but debugs for the others?? The code is basically, go to a tab, on that tab and that range sort..
I downloaded a file from Excel-Logic site called :finding_dupes.xls.I can open this file in Office XP & Office 2007,but cannot open it in Office 2003.It just opens it and then hangs.I am attaching this file.
My company has several users that access a file (File A) that has a macro in that opens another file on their F drive called TEST.XLS. The code (in File A) to do this is:
Workbooks.Open Filename:="F: est.xls"
Just recently this code has failed for some users but not others. For those where it failed I confirmed that they do indeed have the file located on drive F.
As a test, one of the users where the above code failed ran the macro recorder while opening the file (Test.xls) on their F drive. The recorder produced the following code:
I need to error check to see if a worbook is open or not. if it is not open i need it to open it. i supplied the code i am trying but it is not working. I keep all my workbooks in XLSTART.
I am trying to write code to open a new (blank) workbook while in an existing workbook (I am then going to pass data between the two which is easy). When I try to record the code to get the syntax for opening a new workbook it will not record any code. I also need to name the new workbook based on text in a cell in the existing workbook. I just saw before posting this that the code;
workbooks.add
will open a new workbook now I just need to name the new workbook based on text in my existing workbook.
I want code to: Open EstimatingSheet.xls SaveAs current workbook as Range B13 &".xls" Open EstimatingSheet.xls workbook from somewhere on C: Then close the one with B13.xls
I am trying to write code in the VB behind Excel that will allow me to navigate to an excel file (can be open or closed) and delete it. ie navigates to file xxx.xls at N:/xxx/xxx/ selects the file and then deletes it.
I have a workbook with lots of code to automate several things that I do. It does a great job at doing things I need it to do, but it takes foreeeveeerrr to save the workbook. The code has made the workbook a large file, and it takes a few minutes to save it. Is there a way to skip saving the code everytime you open the workbook. I don't ever need to change to code so I don't need to save it every time.
I need the code to allow a user to select a column of their choice in an open workbook of their choice so that data can be lookuped up and changed. I am happy to create the code to do the lookup/changing, however the nearest I have found is the use of an inputbox which is limited to the active spreadsheet only. Some people have said the input box could be used over to another spreadsheet but I have not found that to work.
What I will need returned is the workbook name, sheet name and column. That will allow me to point to that and do the task.
This code could be used by 5 people and those 5 people could be running it on 20 different spreadsheets.
I thought this would be easy to find but it has eluded me. When using Excel normally, if you do a simple lookup formula, or create pivot function, excel prompts the user to select the workbook/sheet.
I have a macro that checks if a username is in a particular list, and if it is, it unhides certain sheets in the workbook.
The code runs fine if I just run it as a macro or off a command button, but I am trying to execute it when the workbook opens and I keep getting a 57121, Application defined or object defined error.
The code is below;
Private Sub Workbook_Open()
DoEvents
Dim Res1 As VbMsgBoxResult Dim GovRng As Range
For Each GovRng In Sheets("Map").Range("GovernanceMembers") If GovRng.Value = Application.UserName Then Goto 111 Next GovRng
Error: Run-Time Error: 438 Object doesn't support this property or method.
Two things to note: This code was placed in the worksheet, something new I am trying and two the error line is not highlighting in yellow (as it normally does) indicating the line w/ the infraction.
Option Explicit
Sub QuickView()
Dim Wss As Worksheet 'Source Worksheet Dim Wsd As Worksheet 'Destination Worksheet Dim LRow As Long
Set Wss = Workbooks("TGSItemRecordMaster.xls").Worksheets(" Record Creator") Set Wsd = Workbooks("TGSItemRecordMaster.xls").Worksheets("Quick View")
Private Sub Assign1Combo_Change() If Range("ComboVisible") = False Then Exit Sub Assign1_Download End Sub
Symptoms: - As soon as this is used, Excel/VBA can't select any range on the worksheet. For example, the following code (within the sub Assign1_Download) no longer works:
Range("firstdata").Select
Excel/VBA doesn't select that Named Range or any other range I try (ex. A1). - This problem only happens in Excel 2003. In Excel 2002 everything works fine (can make any selection).
I have a workbook with macros that run on my laptop, but when I email the workbook to another user and the macro is executed I get a subscript out of range message? Both Excel versions are the same. Environments are the same.?
I have created a spreadsheet some time ago and have been asked to improve on it but I'm rusty with VBA.
I have an automated ordering system that saves each sent order as the date e.g "05-04-2013.xls" but the management team want a graph with the data for the last 4 weeks compared. I have created a seperate workbook called "consumables report.xls" which has a column with the products listed followed by columns "Quantity" and "cost" which is repeated for the 4 weeks of the month.
I want to add a button to prompt the user to choose the saved order e.g "05-04-2013.xls" (all orders saved in same directory) to copy and paste the quantity and cost columns (c8,D69) into "consumables report.xls". I got this to work earlier but it would only paste the formulas and not the values. So I need
A prompt to open workbook Copy range (c8,d69) Close work sheet Paste special .value (c8,D69)
I dont care if it has to open the workbook to copy the data as this will only be used once a month so it dosnt matter how slow the code is.
I wrote this code so that someone else can keep track of a certain bond. It will provide him with returns and a chart between 2 periods. I wrote it on Office 2007 and it works for me, from the begining I wrote the code in an office 97-2003 compatible file. The worksheet is attached.
Sub Grafico() Dim FechaGraficoInicial As Date 'Fecha de referencia para el rango Dim FechaGraficoFinal As Date Workbooks("Julius Baer.xls").Activate 'Para evitar un error, NO BORRAR Worksheets("Precios").Activate Columns("G:G").Select Selection.ClearContents Workbooks("Julius Baer.xls").Activate Worksheets("Rentabilidades").Activate FechaGraficoInicial = Worksheets("Rentabilidades").Range("B22") FechaGraficoFinal = Worksheets("Rentabilidades").Range("B23") i = 0 Condicional = 0 'Determina si el grafico se hace o no..........................
I have the equivalent of Vlookup code(I couldn't get vlookup to work correctly) I am using Excel 2007. I have an array 2 cols x 1652 rows. I have another column of 6264 items. If a text item in the first column of the array matches a text item (minus 3 characters) in the longer column, I place the matching row from the array next to the item in the longer column. Whats not working is that the text never gets put in the cell.
I have Monthly sales sheets that import my cash register data into them. I wanted to set them up to do everything without being there. So I have my task manager open excel at 9:30pm everyday and it runs the macro to import the data into the correct day of the month. Here is the workbook
open macro-
Private Sub Workbook_Open() Dim dTime As Date dTime = Time If dTime >= TimeValue("9:30 PM") And _ dTime < TimeValue("9:40 PM") Then ImportData End If End Sub
This is in my July spreadsheet only. So is there a way to make it know which month spreadsheet to open on the 1st of the month? So come August 1st it will automatically open the August workbook and input the data for the first day? By using the date?
I have a presentation that I open from a short-cut. After the "Welcome Page" is opened, I want to open a second workbook in a new instance of Excel after 4 seconds.
I think that I can open the new instance of excel, but I don't know how to activate the macro after 4 seconds.
I'm sure there is a function someplace for this that can be used in a macro.
Then, after the second Workbook is opened, I want the Welcome Page "Workbook" closed, leaving the second Worbook open.
My Splash screen opens a few seconds after the workbook has loaded. Is there a way to make the workbook open minimzed until the the splash screen closes then open properly? What I trying to say is that only the splash screen is visible until it closes.
I would like to write a Sub that will see if a workbook is open and if it is not then open it. I know how to have a macro automatically open a workbook, but I run into problems when the macro runs and tries to open an already opened workbook.
Create a full copy of an open workbook (eg. activeworkbook MyFile.xls) using VBA, with the new copy (eg Book1.xls) open as well ,without having to save a copy first then open it ?
I did a macro on my mac to transfer a sheet from one workbook to another worbook. It works very well when the destination workbook is open. Therefore I wanted to add some piece of code to check if the destination workbook is open. If not then I wanted the macro to open it before tranfering the sheet. Here is the code I´m using for tranfering the sheet
Sub Transfer_Sluttet() If ActiveSheet.Index <> Sheets.Count Then Application.DisplayAlerts = False Set ws = ActiveSheet Sheets(ws.Index + 1).Delete ws.Move Before:=Workbooks("Sluttet.xls").Sheets("sheet2") 'Moves active sheet to beginning of named workbook. 'Replace Test.xls with the full name of the target workbook you want. Application.DisplayAlerts = True End If End Sub
This is the type of macro I useually use on my pc to check if a workbook is open and if not then open it
If IsWorkbookOpened("Filename.xls", "C:Documents and ..................
