I have the equivalent of Vlookup code(I couldn't get vlookup to work correctly) I am using Excel 2007. I have an array 2 cols x 1652 rows. I have another column of 6264 items. If a text item in the first column of the array matches a text item (minus 3 characters) in the longer column, I place the matching row from the array next to the item in the longer column. Whats not working is that the text never gets put in the cell.
I wrote this code so that someone else can keep track of a certain bond. It will provide him with returns and a chart between 2 periods. I wrote it on Office 2007 and it works for me, from the begining I wrote the code in an office 97-2003 compatible file. The worksheet is attached.

How to run some VBA code only when double click any cell of three different columns (say A, G,H) and not run in any other cell. This is being run in Excel 2007.
I setup a named formula: Spread1 =Sheet1!$E$2:$BE$2 where I entered % values to spread a an annualized figure over 53 weeks
On Sheet 2 I entered the amount to spread in $D$2 and in $E.. I entered my formula: =Spread1 * $D$2. Everything appeared great!
But then I deleted a few columns on sheet2 so first calculation is now in $G$2
Spread1: =Sheet1!$E$2:$BE$2 Calculations: Sheet2! $G2:$BG$2 (the values in I,J,k while summing to the total are in the incorrect weeks based on the spread on Sheet1, BF and BG have #VALUE! errors)
Seems odd, if I highlight "Spread1" in the formula bar and [F9] I see an array of 53 possible values and the 3 values I expect are in the place in the array (elements 5,6,7).
How I can defeat it with the possibility that a user may delete a column?
I created a data validation formula for an Excel 2010 workbook that would only display client names who were assigned to the manager that they selected. The formula works fine in Excel 2010. However, when I open the same workbook in Excel 2007, the data validation type is reset to "Any value" and the formula is missing.
OFFSET is an available command in both 2007 and 2010. When I try to add the formula as a data validation list in 2007, an error indicates that Offset cannot access data in a different table. I have not been able to find any documentation which restricts the OFFSET command in Excel 2007 but there seems to be some incompatibility between the two Excel versions.
"Clients" is a sheet which lists all clients under each manager."Summary" is a separate sheet which contains the manager's name. Only clients matching this name will be available in the employee's client list. There are 50 "employee" sheets, each which should use this formula for data validation in the client column.
The error we received seemed to indicate that the above command could not access data on another worksheet. It is not an option for me to copy the client list onto each sheet that uses this formula. Are there any other options?
Column B has several card numbers (e.i. 7987654345678) Column C has a location name (e.i. madrid) Column L has a date (the date is when the card was used)
What I want to do is identify the cards that appear more then twice on the same date and the same place.

I would like through a macro or pivot to show me the results of the 2 last rows, because those are the only ones that are exactly the same.
Before upgrade to Microsoft 2007 this code worked well (for 3 years). I marked it well with big space & comment where it gets hung up. The line says: With Application.Filesearch. All is well up to that point. I have another program that seems to have a problem when it comes to "With Application" as well. It must have to do with the upgrade, because my programs have been used daily, and it was right after the upgrade that it got buggy. All of the users were upgraded to Microsoft 2007 at the same time.
Sub Rpitracking() 'Collects data from records Application.ScreenUpdating = False
Dim MyCandidate Sheets("PI Tracking").Activate Set Level = Range("I5:I100") Sheets("PI Tracking").Range("J5:Z100").Select Selection.ClearContents 'Clears info pulled from records Sheets("PI Tracking").Range("5:100").Font.ColorIndex = 0 'Colors all rows black Application.ScreenUpdating = False Application.Calculation = xlCalculationAutomatic Range("ID").Offset(1, 0).Select Selection.QueryTable.Refresh BackgroundQuery:=False 'Application.Calculation = xlAutomatic For Each Cell In Level Cell.Select If Cell.Value <> "" Then 'Checks to see if Application date us there If Cells(Cell.Row, 9).Formula <> "" Then 'Checks to see if app date is there MyCandidate = Cells(Cell.Row, 2) & " " & Cells(Cell.Row, 1)
I have six colums (Date; Skill; ST Hrs; OT hrs: Area; Type). I copied and pasted below a small portion of info from the spreadsheet. I know when I copy and paste into a post the information under the headers don't line up exactly...it appears offset, so basically "Date" is of course the date you see..."Skill"'s columns has the first item as nb-mech b..."ST Hrs" first item will be 0.00..."OT Hrs" will be 1.50...."Area"'s first item is "Log FM NO"....and "Type"'s first item is MX07
And there are 17,000 rows of this info and forever growing...a lot of repeated items in each column such as you can see "blaster" has multiple entries on 4/1/2012.
What I am attempting to do which I have not firgured out yet (i have tried array formulas but they bog down the pc forver and couldn't figure out exactly how to make it give me the results I needed...and I also tried sumproducts but that didnt get me what I wanted....and it is being requested of me to NOT make a pivot table but a chart.
What I am trying to create is is the following:
1 - cells to plug in a date range for example cell A1 I plug 4/1/2012 and cell A2 plug 4/30/2012 2 - drop down boxes for columns Skill; Area: Type, which show only unique records in each column
Once I have that, I could then filter all 3 itmes and have only items show in the date ranges I picked and present ONLY the SUMS of columns ST Hrs and OT hrs.
Once the SUMS show up, I can then have cells off to the side that will give a percent break down of what percent of the total hours (for the chose criteria) are ST Hrs and what percent of the total are OT Hrs....and this percentage break down will show up in a Bar Chart, per day chosen in my date ranges....I'm thinking one simple stacked bar per day in the chart.
So say, based on the info below, I wanted to see the total ST Hrs and OT Hrs from 4-1-12 to 4-2-12 for a nb-blaster in LOG FM NO and type MX06.....my result would be 0.00 ST Hrs...23 OT Hrs.....and my bar chart would be one simple bar peaked out at 23 on day 4-1-12.....and within the bar it would be 0.00% ST Hrs and 100% OT Hrs and maybe the total hours for each showing also..don't need that but it may be useful.. ..and no bar for 4-2-12 (because the criteria picked had no hours for 4-2-12)
I have been messign witht is all week and just can't nail it.. I do remember a while ago I would have been able to load the spreadsheet into the post and people could see it in excel...is that option to do that no longer on this site?
Column A & B has a list of Supplier Part numbers and Buyer Part numbers as below.
Supplier P/N Buyer P/N
HGFYE/12 111111
HYEYDH/14 222222
[Code] ..........
Cell D2 is an open cell that any data can be entered into as a search term. What I am trying to do is search for a Supplier P/N that have the characters "H", "G" or "E" in it, so entering "HGE" into cell D2 would display the results into columns F & G as below.
Supplier P/N Buyer P/N
HGFYE/12 111111
HDGTEY/56 333333
I can easily do a formula for 1 character or a string of characters.
To complicate it further, if the search term has in this example has "YFF", I would like the same formula/code to workout that the result in F & G should show this time
I am using a ComboBox in Excel 2007 in a UserForm. It is drawing on a row source which populates empty cells duplicates. How do I get the drop down box results to only show unique values and nonblank entries?
I tried testing, msgbox displays the correct last modified file "MMO Activity Report 09-29-06.xls" in path D:MMOWorkfile but I was not able to open the workbook.
Sub testGetNewestFile() MsgBox NewestFile("D:MMOWorkfile", "*.xls") Workbooks.Open (NewestFile("D:MMOWorkfile", "*.xls"))
Error: Run-Time Error: 438 Object doesn't support this property or method.
Two things to note: This code was placed in the worksheet, something new I am trying and two the error line is not highlighting in yellow (as it normally does) indicating the line w/ the infraction.

Private Sub Assign1Combo_Change() If Range("ComboVisible") = False Then Exit Sub Assign1_Download End Sub
Symptoms: - As soon as this is used, Excel/VBA can't select any range on the worksheet. For example, the following code (within the sub Assign1_Download) no longer works:
Range("firstdata").Select
Excel/VBA doesn't select that Named Range or any other range I try (ex. A1). - This problem only happens in Excel 2003. In Excel 2002 everything works fine (can make any selection).
I have a workbook with macros that run on my laptop, but when I email the workbook to another user and the macro is executed I get a subscript out of range message? Both Excel versions are the same. Environments are the same.?
how to make VBA code work in all workbooks. I created a new module in my PERSONAL.xls file, and added the code, but the code does not work when I open a new workbook. Using Excel 2007.
So far my VBA will copy my range of cells in Excel and paste them into Powerpoint but I'm totally stuck as to how to resize the image from there. I've tried a bunch of different methods and I get some pretty crazy results but can't seem to punch through to a solution. What I'd like it to do, at the end of the VBA is:
Set the lock aspect ratio to false Set the Height to 5.5" Set the Width to 9.83" Set the horizontal position to .08 from Top Left Set the Vertical position to .58 from Top Left
I cannot seem to get my save as portion to work at all. I commented it out at the bottom. This is all in Excel and PPT 2007.
Here is what I have so far:
Sub Export_Excel_to_PowerPoint()
Dim ppApp As PowerPoint.Application Dim ppSlide As PowerPoint.Slide On Error Resume Next Set ppApp = GetObject(, "PowerPoint.Application") On Error GoTo 0
[Code]...
Ultimately the behavior I'm looking for with this macro is to copy a filtered range of cells from Excel and paste it as a picture into Powerpoint (up til this point I'm golden) then resize the image on the slide, save the presentation, then exit PPT.
I have a macro that does exactly what I need it to do, but it takes a long time.
There are 4 horizontal sections. The top section (code not included) is the total of 3 sections which are segregated by location.
For the 3 sections:
rows 101 to 172 (section 1), 198 to 269 (section 2), & 295 to 366 (section 3) have the same formula for every other column starting with column F ending with column AT (sums hrs)
rows 173 to 194 (section 1), 270 to 269 (section 2), 367 to 388 (section 3) have the same formula for every other column starting with column G ending with column AU (sums dollar amount)
the columns are corresponding dates
Below is the code snippet that produces the results for section 1. I repeat the same code pattern for each section.
Dim r As Long For r = 101 To 172 With LaborDetail.Cells(r, "F") .FormulaR1C1 = "=SUMIFS('Data '!C17,'Data '!C38,RC1,'Data '!C37,R1C)" .Value = .Value
My company recently upgraded everyone to Microsoft 2010 from 2007 version. I have no substantial VBA skill and left with a VBA code which is supposed to extract a list of outlook emails sitting in a shared mailbox into Excel.
I was using that VBA code in Outlook 2007 and it worked fine but shows the following error when run in Outlook 2010: 'Run-time error '-2147221233 (8004010f)': The attempted operation failed. An object could not be found. Here is part of the code:
[Code] .....
It worked after one of the members suggested to "click on any line of this code and press F8 repeatedly until the yellow focus moves to the error line, don't press F8 anymore. Now in immediate window, copy paste each of below lines, press enter after each line. Let us know where the error occur." However, it stop working the next day.
I cannot figure out how to get my error handler to work, or actually, not work. It seems to work fine when there is an error, but the code still gets read even when there was not an error. Basically, I am trying to open a file, which may or may not be there. When it is not there I want a message to pop up informing the user. However, when the file is there and it opens, the error handler still gives the message box. Any ideas what I am doing wrong?
Private Sub btnOK_Click() Application. Need a code that sends emails to the intended receipients based on hold codes if Columnd J reads as YES Email formats are listed on "Email Format" tab, code should pick the required field value from the table (Hold Report).
Analyst name, Phone number are entered in the text boxes (data validation for these is desired)
option boxes are used to send email based on the selection as below
if "send initial email without attachment" is selected then emails should be sent without the attachments
if "send initial email with attachment" is selected then emails should be sent with the attachments
Attachments are usually .PDF files and are stored on users desktop with file name as .pdf
if the follow up otion is selected the subject line on the mail should be appended as *** 1st Follow-Up*** along with standard subject line
Rest of the requirement remains same for followup option (same email format is used) based on the option selected, code should be able to send emails with or without attachments. I have provided three command buttons that are intended to work as follows;
Validate data: need to validate the data to ensure that each row has atleast one email address in "TO" column and there are no spaces in the email address.
Clear Data: Should clear the existing data from the table
Send Emails: Should send emails
Standard subject line is a combination as below
Invoice on Hold for ; Invoice number: ; PO Number: ; Invoice Amount:
Note: Column H and I apply only for hold codes Qty Ord and Max Ship Amount
Using excel 2007. I am interested in writing a VBA code to delete rows based on the text starting content. I would like to delete rows with cells that do NOT start with an "S" or "SA"
Trying to manipulate a macro I recorded to be slightly more dynamic with some VBA code. The macro has saved me a lot of time however each month I have to re-do it due to the date changing and I'm sure there must be an easy way to adapt the below code.
Current Code (it repeats afterwards as there are lots and lots of sheets I need to perform the action on).
What I'm after is a way to alter the range highlighted based upon matching a cell in "Raw Data.xls' and a cell in "Volume Tracking.xlsm".
The cell A43 in "Raw Data.xls" contains a month (which changes every month); if the month is Jan then I would want the Range to remain as AE33. If it's Feb then I would want the Range to be AF33 (and so on).
In "Volume Tracking.xlsm" I have the months in cells AE4 (Jan), AE5 (Feb) etc.
Is there a way to locate the column in "Volume Tracking.xlsm" on row 4 that contains the value found in A43 in "Raw Data.xls" and then paste what was copied out of "Raw Data.xls" C43 and paste it in to row 33 of the correct column that holds the matching month?
If not could I add code to say if cell A43 in "Raw Data.xls" = Jan then paste to AE33, if Feb then paste to AF33 and so on.........
I am running Excel 2010 32bit under Windows 7. The Excel file worked perfectly under Excel 2007 and Windows XP. The Excel file is somewhat complex with numerous links and embedded cell formulas. Occasionally, I get the following error message:
5.jpg
Before I install the 64 bit version, I attempted to chack a few other things. I opened the task manager and while viewing the process tab, I opened my Excel file. Once the file loaded, this is the allocation displayed in task manager:
1.jpg
This seemed reasonable considering the size of the Excel file (33Mb). Without changing anything, I clicked save to make sure it was working properly. While viewing the process, I watched the allocation climb, substantially. when it completed, this is what the process displayed:
2.jpg
Continuing to click the save button, without changing anything, continued to increase the memory allocation until the error message was displayed:
3.jpg
4.jpg
Closing Excel and re-openeing the file resets the memory allocation back to normal, which is a popular solution to this issue in the forums.
I did check the same issue using Excel 2007 and the memory allocation releases after each save.
I can see how installing the 64 bit version of Excel can correct this issue, and with 12Gb of Ram, I will probably use this method until I can get this fixed.
I've about 10 pivot tables in Excel that are populated via an External Query link to Access. In each case I have pre-written views with all the columns I need so that the query can just pick them up. Nine of the ten queries work perfectly, but one doesn't - reporting "Too Few Parameters - Expected 1" when I try and click on the "Return Data to Excel" in the import wizard.
I can see the column headers in Excel to select; so I'm assuming that it can parse the SQL but no results are being returned. Just to confirm though - results are returned (>8000 of them) in Access.
SQL code below:
Code: SELECT z.pathdurationhours AS PathHours, Count(z.pathdurationhours) AS Paths, Count(z.pathdurationhours)/(select count(*) from (select [activity date], [conversion ID], count(*) from tbl_dfa_p2cdata group by [activity date], [conversion ID]) ) AS PCT FROM (SELECT a.[activity date], a.[conversion ID], val( max(a.[interaction time])-min(a.[interaction time]) ) *24 AS PathDurationHours FROM tbl_dfa_P2CData AS a WHERE a.[interaction time] "" GROUP BY a.[activity date], a.[conversion ID]) AS z GROUP BY z.pathdurationhours;
I keep record of my blood sugar in excel 2003 that I send to my doctor weekly.
What I would like to do is, instead of typing the readings and mmol/L at the end in every cell, is to just type in the reading (example 5.5) then tab of the cell and have excel populate the cell with mmol/L automatically after the reading.
I have a workbook (excel07) that I use to import data onto our purpose built database. I have some macros to sort the data and send it to the correct columns however the one stage I still have to do manually is assign each row its own unique sorting Code (in a bespoke column "B2:B999").
These are objectives and the code should contain three seperate parts (part 1a and b do not need to be seperated);
1a. The characters "PO" should be the first in the code (for sorting purposes)
1b. The persons initials (first letter of the first name and last name) found in column J2:J999. [They are sorted by name so It would also be good to add a number after the initials seperated by a space incase of multiple objectives however I could defintly live with typing these in manually]
e.g. "Joe Blogs" second objective = JB02
2. The numerical part of the stategic objective they have selected found in column H2:H999. [incase you need this these range from 1.1-1.4, 2.1-2.5,3.1-3.6 and 4.1-4.5 all with a short text strings after which shouldnt be included in the code]
e.g. "1.1 We are Committed to being nice" = 1.1
3. The year they are applicable for which will all be "12/13" however I will need to change this next March.
Therefore the final code should appear as "POJB02 3.1 12/13"
There is a 16 Character limit on these codes but all of that information is needed for sorting, filtering and report generation, the spaces could be replaced by "_" if that makes things easier.
I've been using a macro successfully for the last couple of years, but this morning when I went to use it, it decided to fail. I have a workbook which contains various spreadsheets. The macro that has failed performs the following tasks:
1. It copies a list of email addresss from an external workbook to a sheet in the current workbook (still works) 2. It copies the referral sheet I want to send to a new file, and saves it with an appropriate filename to an appropriate folder (still works) 3. The macro then creates an email with a standard subject line, attaches the new worksheet and emails it to each of the addresses as above (broken)
The error message is from Microsoft Visual Basic. "Run-time error '1004': Mail system failure. Check your mail installation."
I'm guessing there is a setting somewhere in Excel that has changed as part of an update.
I've been through a number of the options in the developer menu to remove any obvious restrictions (& reopened excel afterwards), but so far it hasn't resolved the problem.
For what it's worth, here is the macro code.
With Application .EnableEvents = False .ScreenUpdating = False End With Run "PullInSheet1" Dim oldbook As String
[Code] .......
In case you're wondering about the pullinsheet code, I'll add it below - but I probably grabbed it from this forum a couple of years ago (like some of the above) & just made some changes.
Code: Sub PullInSheet1() Dim AreaAddress As String '''''' Sheet11.UsedRange.Clear Dim ClRange As String ClRange = "= 'L:ADMINEMPLOY SERVICES" _
[Code] ........
There are a couple of things I've wanted to do to improve the macro, but I couldn't justify the need to spend time working it out (since writing spreadsheets isn't really my job). Since it's broken at the moment, I can...
1. I'd like to create a subject line that reflects the name of the person being referred. For some reason though, anything other than text in the cell reference caused an error for me. eg, I tried using concatenate to create my subject line, but it didn't work.
2. I'd like the copied sheet to contain all of the formatting of the original sheet. Presumably there is a paste option that will do this and I just picked the wrong one.
The mailsystem we use is Groupwise 8. I couldn't find any settings in that program that have been changed, or that I could change.
I should change the extension from xls to xlsx in the code since I'm using Excel 2010 (but changing it doesn't fix the problem).
I work for a UK charity and have a list of funders in an Excel 2007 spreadsheet.
One of the columns refers to the date on which a new application for funding can be made to that particular funder.
In many cases new applications for funding can't be made for 1 or more years since the last application - sometimes as many as 5 years later. How to get a cell to refer to the date that it contains.
For example, say I have in cell A1 "The Acme Funding Organisation" and in cell B1 (i.e. the "Reapply when?" column) a date of 01/04/2013 (British date format, i.e. 1 April 2013) then what I want Excel to do is to look at the date in cell B1 and if that date has been reached to highlight the cell red. That way I'll know that the reapply date has been reached & that a new application can be made.
