XY Chart With Colored Symbols Indicating A Third Variable

Data set has three columns: dates, cycle times for event and event type. I want to create a XY chart with cycle time ploted against date (filled circles connected by line). I further want the color of each of these symbols to change as a function of event type. I vizualize a chart where the symbols might be red, red, blue, red, yellow where red indicates event type 1, blue event type 2 and yellow event type 3. how I might build this chart.

Lotus 123 had a function where you could graphically, in a cell, show plus symbols(+) or negative symbols (-) for the value of the data. For example if you had a column of numbers that you calculated from the previous year that indicate the change, Lotus, in the next cell would allow you to graphically display the symbols that indicate the strength of the change. So if your result was a positive ten then ten plus symbols would be shown. If it was -20 then 20 negative symbols would be shown. Now the numbers I am looking at could be 600,00 and I believe there was a way to to proportion the symbols for example for every 100,000 put in one symbol so the result would be 6 (+) signs.

I have large data sheets with blocks of blue-colored cells. I want to surround them with lavender-colored cells. Then I want to run a command to Clear Contents of all lavender-colored cells. Is this possible?

So first I have:

From the attached file.
Column 1 is a file name
Column 2 is a list of file names (but some of the files have been split into -A and -B parts or suffixed with an A or B

I need to highlight in column B, if the exact file name in column A exists

Example:
Column A: BSDS-0001
Column B: does not have this exactly instead it has BSDS-0001-A and BSDS-0001-B

I need some indication/highlighting that BSDS-0001 does exist on column B

So an indication that the whole of the file name in column A appears partially in column B. I have tried using max character lengths searches etc but cannot get an accurate way of doing this.

Indicating A Holiday AND Change The Color OF Cell

I'm trying to create a spread sheet for our staff holidays. I have the year dates all mapped out across the sheet, and the staff names running down the first column. I would like to do the following:

1. When an "H" is put into a certain day, indicating a holiday, the cell color changes to i.e. blue. The color will be different for each staff member. We have four members of staff! (big company).

2. The "H"'s are totaled up for each member of staff to indicate how many days holiday they've had. Or if the staff member has 20 days per year, 20 is in a cell next to their name, and each "H" takes a number from that, i.e 19, 18 etc.

Sorry if I sound like a complete noobie!

Chart Range Variable?

I am fairly new to using vba in excel, but not vba entirely so I know there is a way to accomplish what I need. I need to specify the range for a chart using variables

1. The row variable will be a selection on a combo box
2. The column variables will be mulitple selections on a list box
3. These cells will not be concurrent, for example:
I6, K6, O6

This is all in a vba macro button

I recorded a simple macro to create a chart using VBA. The code for the macro is:

The problem is that I need the code to select a variable range from C4 to the last used row in column C for the x values and from G4 to the last used value in column G.

I tried to modify the code to do that by doing the following:

When I run the macro, I get an error 91, "Object variable or With block variable not set"; Also the chart is created but not correctly.

I created a sub called "range" (see below) and it correctly selects selects the C or G ranges, however, the argument does work in the chart macro.

I'm attempting to create a dynamically built donut chart using VBA, but I'm having trouble inserting a variable to be used as one of the values.

The chart graphs 3 data points:
ASC GP - Located in cell T4
ACC GP - Located in cell AE4
ACT GP - variable called LocSumActGP

The code snippet I assumed would work looked like this:

I am trying to produce a line chart, which will use imported data on a separate sheet (but within the same workbook)

The imported data can be of different sizes ie column widths and length. Some columns may contain only zero and should not be included in the chart, and will be to right of the data.

I have created a named range for the data series called ChartData using =OFFSET(Data!$C$1,0,0,info!$C$7,info!$A$2) - C7 and A2 are calculations to set column and row sizes. I have tried to use this as the chart's data series, but without success.

I have data which is imported from a txt file and always starts at the same row (R19) but is variable in length (end of data R??). I want to be able to select the chart xvalues (R19C10:R?C10) and values (R19C4:R?C4) based on the number of cells with data in them for a given column. In addition I believe I'm having troubles with sheet references, when the txt file is opened the sheet name is set to the file name, since I want to use this macro on many different files I need the sheet referencing code to account for this. Anyway here is the section of code which seems to be giving me trouble (the initial sections just create a new column of data which needs to be referenced as the xvalues) ...

Setting Column Chart Data Using VBA For Variable Ranges

I have some code to plot a column chart of data but it isn't working as expecting at the moment. The code is below. The variable binCounter is a count of how many cells in a range that I want to plot on the chart.

However, what I am finding is that the first couple of cells in the range appear as the series name with the rest appearing as the data in the chart. Secondly, the chart appears with the axis labels 1,2,3 etc when I have some custom ones I would prefer to use. How do I go about setting this property, as I can only find options on setting the axis title There is a lot of stuff on XY charts on Google but I can't find much on column charts unfortunately .

When no input value is present, the total column(s) either show a "$0.00" or show "#DIV/0!". How do I hide these results for the rows that do not yet have any input? Formula To Substitute Given Symbols

I've got a workbook with multiple formulas e.g.:

t=S/D

TCh=Ch*(S^2/2D)*(D/Q)

TC=Co*(D/Q)+Ch*((i-D)/2i)*Q

which are built by implementing the symbols:

t, S, D, TCh, Ch, Q, TC, Co, i

I'd like to substitute the symbols in following sequence:

t = a
S = b
D = c
TCh = d
Ch = e
Q = f
TC = g
Co = h
i = x

Questions:

1) Which formula could substitute the symbols automaticly?

2) If there are up to 100 formulas in the workbook in the range of A1:E100,-

would it be possible to to set the substitution for the mentioned range?

Im looking for a formula to count different symbols in a row. I am using =COUNTIF(A1:A1600,CHAR(251)) to count 1 symbol and =COUNTIF(A1:A1600,CHAR(252)) to count another. what i need is a formula to count all symbols no matter what they are. As in this case they will only be the 251 + 252 a formula just for that would be great.

I have a worksheet with what appears to be symbols or text boxes; squares, some with a check mark in them, some without. cannot select any of them to edit or delete them, I can type in the cell behind the symbol, the symbol hides the text. Replace All Symbols With Text

I am importing content control information in a word file into excel by using a macro in excel. The information is coming across nicely but when the information about a checkbox comes across, in excel, that's what you see, a checkbox (☐ or ☒). Is there any way (formula or vba) to replace all the checkboxes with a yes or a no?

I wrote a formula that works:

But this will add this information to a new column and I would like to replace the information in the existing column (the form has about 200 checkboxes) and I don't want to add a bunch of new columns.

I also toyed with VBA:

But when I try to paste the ☐ in the vba code, I get a "?" so I am assuming it doesn't recognize the ☐ as a valid character.
