Removing Decimal Point While Maintaining # Of Decimal Places
Jun 10, 2009I need to convert a column of numbers currently formatted with 2 decimal places e.g. 112.12 to 4 decimal places (without the decimal point). I need the end result to be 1121200. I've tried a few different suggestions given on the forum previously but can't seem to retain the 4 decimal places that I require.

Aug 8, 2008I am trying to create a unique sample code by putting together the values of other cells that a user will input. It's all working well apart from the last part, where I am trying to include a decimal number. I want the decimal number to appear without the central "." and in a four digit format. e.g. 2.5 would appear as 0250, 14.25 would appear as 1425. This is the formlua I am using currently:

Jul 30, 2009This problem just appeared recently, as if out of the blue, and it seems to affect all of my old work sheets as well as new ones. I am using 2002 version. When I input any number in any cell the program automatically inserts a decimal point. Thus 1 becomes .1, 12 becomes 1.2, 123 becomes 12.3 etc. I have tried formatting the cells to "general" and to to "number" with no change. The thing that really gets me is that old saved worksheets exhibit this behavior as well. I can work around the problem by inputting 1. or 12. which then gives me the entry I am after but I've never needed to do this before.

Excel 2013 :: Zero Point Zero Out To 14 Decimal Places Is Not 0?
Jul 12, 2014So how can it be that Excel calculates Pi()/90*90=Pi(); but Pi()/90+Pi()/90+Pi()/90......90 times is 0.000000000000033527. And why is the number zero out to 14 decimal places not being returned as 0?
I need to know exactly when a series of sequentially increasing radians = Pi(). The length of the series is dynamic and can be as few as 6 and as many as 120. And right now Excel is not cooperating.
Here is what excel thinks Pi()/90+Pi()/90+....90 times =
3.14159265358980000000
3.14159265358979000000 (this is how excel displays Pi() out to 20 decimal places)
So Excel thinks the two numbers are not equal to each other, and what could be more interesting is that Excel thinks the difference is
0.00000000000000355271
Even after copying and pasting both numbers as values out to 20 decimals. Excel still thinks the difference is 0.00000000000000355271
How is that possible?
I have Excel 2013. Is there some sort of bug here? I had posted earlier about major headaches when using natural log. Random cells keep getting forced to 14, 15, sometimes 16 or 17 decimals. No rhyme no reason. I can custom format every cell in worksheet to 2 decimals, and as soon as I hit F9... ############# all over the place. At least with Pi() the decimals are under control, but the math is not right. Pi()/x + Pi()/x.....x times = Pi().

See, the tricky part is that the length of the number varies and I cant just divide by X to shift so many places to the left..

Excel considers decimal numbers with a coma as real numbers and numbers with a dot as a text. This previous macro fixes that. However, Lotus works the other way. Only numbers with a dot are considered real numbers. So I would need to find a way to code a macro that converts any numbers in the Excel sheet to a number with a dot. It's a bit like doing the opposite operation.

Sep 1, 2013My data is set out in columns, where alternate columns provide day numbers for given years (we can call these type 1 columns), with adjacent columns containing values which correspond to those type 1 column day numbers (we can call these type 2 columns). There are about a hundred columns in total (50 of each type). I would like to get excel to return the three largest numbers within each type 2 column, but I want to exclude data within the type 2 column above the point which is adjacent to a specific (varying) day number in the type 1 column. The location of this point varies for all the type 1 columns, according to a third row of numbers (the look up start point), which are currently listed below the dataset in every type 1 column. So, for the type 1 column "year 1", I would want Excel to ignore the values 0 and 1, which are listed next to day numbers 78 and 79, and begin looking for the three largest values down the column starting from the value which is adjacent to 81 (which is a 2). In type 1 column "year 2", excel would start looking for the largest values from the cell adjacent to 78, so it would ignore the 18 at the top of the column,and would return 2 and 12. And so on.

There doesn't appear to be the facility with Countif. I don't want to truncate the data (the spreadsheet already is quite extensive). I have tried using =SUMPRODUCT((Y$2:Y$170 >=3)*(Y$2:Y$170<=3.9)) but this will return an answer only when there is a complete set of data within cells within the range.
Spliting Numbers Regarding Decimal
Aug 8, 2008I would have a preliminary data, a number, on sheet1. The final data would be on sheet2.
In the case where there is a whole number as the preliminary data, the data would remain the same as the final output. (eg. 248 --> 248)
In the case where there is a number with a decimal, I need a function where it looks at the original number as two sets of WHOLE numbers. (Eg. 248.30 --> 248 and 30). Where the digits to the left of the decimal remains the same and the digits to the right would be divided by x (in this case, 10). The final output would be 2483 (where 248 is the same and the 30 is divided by 10.
Since I am using an older version of excel, I cannot use quotient. I know that I would be using the vlookup function and perhaps an if function. however, I do not know how to separate the numbers in regards to the decimal.
Convertering All Numbers To Decimal
Feb 16, 2007My coworker's excel program is converting all data to decimals. He enters in 2004 as a date and it makes it 2.004. I opened the same file on my computer and it works fine. I have done all fo the formatting to try and make it a number or a general field. The general field is not showing a preview as if there is some error overriding the whole program. He has some other numbers that he has already entered as currency and they work fine. I was able to do a =2004 and it showed as 2004 of course.

Example: I type in 235 with NO decimal point, Excel enters it as 2.35, even when starting from scratch, using a new sheet or new workbook. I tried using format cell from the menu bar to choose "general" then as "number". Nothing changed. I also tried to set the decimal places at "0" using the number format. All that did was truncate the number to 2 with the .35 not being displayed in the cell. It IS displayed in the formula window as 2.35... but not as I entered it... 235. This happens no matter whether or not it's a brand new blank workbook or worksheet
