Change Size Of Text In Comboboxes?
May 14, 2013
Before i start and to save you time looking at my profile, i am using excel 2010. So i have one worksheet with loads and loads of Combo boxes (form control) that are linked to a cell on another sheet and that sheet uses the linked cell along with a index and match formula in one to fetch data from a range for my chart. So based on the selection of the combo box option the chart changes.
My question is how do i change the size of the text in the Combo boxes (form control)? Is there any VBA to do this? .Font.Size?
If not i don't mind changing all my boxes to Combo boxes (activeX control), but i do have over 100 so what would be the best and fastest way to change all my current Combo boxes (form control) to Combo boxes (activeX control) whilst keeping everything the same so it all still functions. Maybe some more VBA? Plus i also need to be able to change the size in the new Combo boxes (activeX control) as well so telling me how would be splendid.

I'm coding a userform where there are some comboxes which are popolated by values coming from Sheet2. Up to now I work it out (maybe its not elegant but it works).
Now I would like that when the user selects one combobox the values of the other comboboxes are set accordingly to the grid in Sheet2.
Please download the XLS file at: [URL]....

I have one sheet with about 100 activex controls (and another few 100 on the other sheets in the file), most combobox, but some checkbox as well. There are 30 of them lined up, one in each row. One at a time, one control will basically change to an icon only. If you select it in design mode, the name shows in the range name area of the toolbar, but when you select properties you get the properties for the sheet. Effectively I have an icon with nothing linked to it anymore.
For a while, it seemed to be somewhat random. But for the last few days, it is now cascading down. First combobox #6, then #7, etc. I'm now on #11 or so. Seems to happen when you save then reopen the file, not if you just keep working in the file without closing it.
The macros behind the boxes are still there and run once I recreate the missing box (normally with an Alt-D, and editing the properties; but I've also created from scratch from the toolbar, and used alt-C, alt-V) they work fine. I've run a compile, with no change. Any thoughts on finding the root cause? I thought it might be from blowing up a macro, but I've tried it without even editing a macro and it has the issue.

I have an autoshape on an sheet, and use this code (it's a circle), to rezise it....
[Code] ....
However, it does rezise it, but the shape doesn't keep it's central position. Is there a bit of code I can add to stop the shape from moving? In other words, have the shape rezise around it's center of location?

I have found the code below that is very good and changes the case size to Upper, Proper or Lower. The problem is that when I select a cell, range of cells, column or row it changes the entire sheet instead of the selected range.
Code:
Sub CaseSize()
Dim myCase, rng As Range, r As Range
myCase = Application.InputBox("Enter" & vbLf & "1 for Upper Case" & vbLf & _
"2 for Lower Case" & vbLf & "3 for Proper Case", Type:=1)
If (myCase = False) + (Not myCase Like "[1-3]") Then Exit Sub
On Error Resume Next
[code]....

I've created a combo box in excel with the macro recorder. This is the code that came back:
Sub test1()
ActiveSheet.DropDowns.Add(1305, 52.5, 242.25, 39).Select
With Selection
.ListFillRange = "$AW$4:$AW$18"
.LinkedCell = "$AX$5"
.DropDownLines = 5
.Display3DShading = False
End With
End Sub
This always results in a default font size of 8 for my list. Can anyone tell me how to modify the code above to change the font size to 14? And how to modify the color of the list.

Need assistance with this code provided by SHG. See attached sample. I need to create a range called DaysOff so that this function will work. As it is the function is perfect; though the accuracy if the result is dependent on the exact range, thus I need this named range to be dynamic. I have tried but it does not seem to work correctly. The named range should refer to the list of names between 1-10. The range should dynamically include any names that are listed.
Public DaysOff As Range
Function datNext(datLast As Date, DaysOff As Range) As Date
Dim datBeg As Date, datEnd As Date
Dim iLastPd As Integer
Dim iDay As Long, nDay As Long
Dim iYr As Integer, iMo As Integer
iYr = Year(datLast)
iMo = Month(datLast)
datBeg = DateSerial(iYr, iMo + 1, 1)
datEnd = DateSerial(iYr, iMo + 2, 0)
iLastPd = Pd(datLast)
nDay = DaysOff.Rows.Count
Do.......................................

The comment boxes keep changing shape and location in my spreadsheet. Some are completely smashed together, while others are extraodinarily wide. I had them all to the right of the cell they applied to; but now they are all over the place.

I am trying to change the font size on my combo box using VBA.
I create the combobox dynamically, so need to be able to change the font too.
This is how I create the combobox, however the .Font.Size = 10 does not work and the default font size is 11.
Code:
With ActiveSheet .OLEObjects.Add(ClassType:="Forms.ComboBox.1", Link:=False, _
DisplayAsIcon:=False, Left:=159.75, Top:=80.25, Width:=75.75, Height:=19.5) _
.Font.Size = 10
.Name = "cmbBaseD"
.OLEObjects("cmbBaseD").ListFillRange = "DynRng"
End With

I use this ok code to increase the font in the selected cell:
Private Sub Worksheet_SelectionChange(ByVal Target As Range)
Dim TargetRange As Range
Dim isect
Set TargetRange = Range("C:D")
Set isect = Intersect(Target, TargetRange)
If Not isect Is Nothing Then
Columns("C:D").Font.Size = 11
Target.Font.Size = 15
Exit Sub
End If
Columns("C:D").Font.Size = 11
End Sub
The problem is when i press ctrl+c to copy a cell content, so once i move the curser to the distenation cell then the copying mode in selected cell disappeared.
It is because when the event is trigered then the copying mode stops. The question is : how to let the copying mode works even when the event is trigered ?

I have this macro that works perfectly. My boss wanted the subtotal lines within the report to be in a smaller font, so I added lines to the macro to do that. It won't work with those lines in there! It says the reference is not valid on the red line in the code below. The 2 blue sections are the ones I added to change the font size.
Code:
'Add subtotals at the end of each age bucket
For i = 10 To LR Step 1
fr = Range("E" & i - 3).End(xlUp).Row
If Range("B" & i).Value = "Totals" Then
Range("E" & i).Formula = "=SUBTOTAL(9,E" & fr & ":E" & i - 2 & ")"
With Range("E" & i & ":R" & i).FillRight
[code].....
Why would the font size make a difference? Is there some other way to change the font size that would work better?

I am trying to set up conditional formatting in cell C4 to change the font to a smaller number based on the value of C4. If C4 = 0 then Font Calibri 16, otherwise Font Calibri 24. However, the font size is not availabe, it is greyed out. Is there another way to accomplish this without using VBA? In the worksheet could I use an if() statement to change the font size?

I have recorded macro.
What I am trying to achieve is ....
When I select cell A2 and press command button Then - Columns C, D, E are unhidden
-Relative cells in selected row ( in this case C2,D2,E2) change font to 12
- When command button is pressed then C,D,E are hidden and font size goes back to 1
similarly if i select A3 same should happen to C3,D3,E3
Currently all is OK but when I press command button it all happens with the entire column C,D,E
Sample book attached.
Code is as follows:

I have a sheet with four listboxes on it. All four have their source on the "Lookup" tab - Lookup is very hidden and is zoomed at 100%. Every once in a blue moon, the text in the four listboxes will shrink to be very tiny. The listboxes themselves will stay the same size, but the text inside shrinks.
Starts off looking like this:[url]
Somehow ends up looking like this: [url]
I compared the two pictured files and the properties of the listboxes were totally identical for both.
Each time this has happened, it's always been on someone else's computer (fifty people each use a copy of this file), so I don't have many clues as what is going on when this happens... Does anyone have any idea how to prevent this from happening, or how to restore a file like this instead of replacing it?

I have executed this macro from this spreadsheet many times but today, after I execute the macro, the box increased in size. I repositioned it on the page, resized it and re-executed. Now it is decreasing the font size within the button each time I execute. It executed just fine yesterday. I assume it's some setting in excel because I've tried another spreadsheet and am seeing the same result.

I'm trying to Automatically fit the text to the size of the TextBox frame using:
Code:
With obFinalNote.TextFrame2
strTxt = .TextRange
.DeleteText
.WordWrap = msoTrue
.AutoSize = msoAutoSizeTextToFitShape
.TextRange = strTxt
End With
It appears ".AutoSize = msoAutoSizeTextToFitShape" only considers the width (I think) as the text is downsized but yet the text still extends beyond the the bottom of the frame. And never gets set to less than 11 point. Even when there's not enough text to reach the bottom of the frame the text is still set to 11pt leaving the frame half empty. Need to have text big as possible.
How to keep text in its entirety within the frame of the shape?
The quantity of text varies widely and the frame size cannot change. I've tried using Len() and dividing by a certain number and then based on that answer set the size with:
Code:
With obFinalNote.TextFrame.Characters.Font
.Name = "Arial"
.FontStyle = "Normal"
.Size = NoteFontSize
.Underline = xlUnderlineStyleNone
.ColorIndex = xlAutomatic
End With
But this technique doesn't seem reliable as the number to divide the Len() by seems to depend on how "wraps" have occured.
