Customize The Print Settings For The Template
May 8, 2009
I currently have a template that I have made and all the info and everything is fine on it, but the problem is with printing. Every time I go to print it wants to print out 100 copies of the same thing. I tried editing the original template by printing 1 copy then saving the template, but it still wants to print 100 copies with the next try. how to customize what the print settings are for the template and make them stay permanent with the template?

I am having trouble disabling the "Preview" button when calling Application.Dialogs(xldialogprint) in XL2003. I have an xlSheetVeryHidden worksheet containing a form which is made visible programatically when the user wishes to print a copy (code below). I want the user to be able to have access to the functionality of the xlDialogPrint dialog (i.e. select desired print destination, number of copies, pages per sheet etc.) but I also want to prevent them modifying the page setup of the protected worksheet by initiating a preview from the print dialog.
Private Sub btnPrintReturnForm_Click()
wbkRUSC.Unprotect sysPass 'unprotect workbook to enable changes to sheet visibility
' (sysPass is project constant string containing password)
shtStaffForm.Visible = xlSheetVisible 'make staff form visible
shtCalc.Visible = xlSheetVeryHidden 'hide main calculator in case user gets smart and hits..............................

At my company we need to print our workbooks containing 3 to 24 worksheets. The first page should be printed on different paper than the other pages. From various forums I gathered that it's not possible to set the papertray using vba. Those forums suggest 3 things: 1. Windows Api functions (don't work at our company(security)), 2. SendKeys (don't work because of different printers, office versions and future-proofness) and 3.
Define printerdrivers per tray.
This last I did, so there are printerdrivers for tray3 and tray4.
With the following code I try to print the workbook:
Public Sub printSheets(strP1 As String, strP2 As String)
Dim curPrinter As String, firstPage As Worksheet, otherSheet As Worksheet, x As Integer
Set firstPage = Application. ActiveWorkbook.Sheets(1)
curPrinter = Application.ActivePrinter
Application.ActivePrinter = strP1
firstPage.PrintOut
The problem: The sheets are sent to the printers specified as strP1 and strP2, but the tray-settings from these printers are "overruled" by Excel; they are printed from the papertray that was the default of the printer when Excel was started.
Also, using the default printer dialog from Excel has the same problem; when the (windows-)default printer is Tray3 then all the pages come from there, even when printer Tray4 is selected as the printer. In Word or Acrobat etc the prints come from the right tray.

I am trying to copy the print settings(including the headers and footers) for one excel worksheet to another. I have found the following hint on internet and it works fine for copying the print setting(including the head/foot) but it is also grouping the worksheets. Click on the tab of the worksheet you want to copy. Then hold down the Shift or Ctrl key and click on the tab of the worksheet where you want the settings and click on File, Page Setup and OK. How can I just copy the print setting without grouping the worksheets?

Is it possible to set the same print area and print settings i.e. Landscape and 1 page tall by 2 pages wide, across all worksheets in an excel file? I have a file with 365 worksheets. They all have the exact same layout and need to be printed off daily. I can set the print settings every day manually but was wondering if there is an easy way to do them all in one go?

I have a customer database for specific contact details and instructions. The user can use filters to sort by branch, customer etc and then mark the selected customers he wants to printout.
Problem is, is that that the data layout within the worksheet is not a clear layout and as the number of printout entries will always be variable, is there a way I can print to a template a bit like labelprint software.

I Have a number(30+) of excel files based off of one template. I have since updated the template, thus making the the old ones obsolete. Is there a way to update the older files to use the new template without having to copy and paste the addition's row by row column by column?
None of the additions to the template will change the placement of existing data, nor will it change the data itself. It will however add Values to cells that were previously empty.
Hints, Tricks, or Ideas?

1)
I created a one-sheet template, and a new workbook from that sheet. When in that new workbook I go Insert>Sheet>Other and select the aforementioned one-sheet template, Excel crashes, or if not, it adds the new sheet, but then no longer saves the workbook and starts producing error messages (like: "An unexpected error has ocurred. AutoRecover has been disabled for this session of Excel.").
1a)
Now, the complication is that this is working when I do a model operation with a generic template sheet. So I checked the template that I actually want to form sheets after, and Excel finds no errors, nor does it's name contain any unusual characters. What could Excel prevent from working with a template like this?
2)
How do I edit a template? The only way I can find is to manually find the spot in finder, open, and save with the same name. But: if I do that, the documents basing on that template don't change accordingly. If they're intended not to, the whole template procedure makes no sense. I could then just as well copy a file. — I've been searching for tutorials on that, but google doesn't even return a single result on Excel "edit template". Therefor my very basic question here.

I've attached 2 test files, one is the database master file containing the projects (each row represents a project, unique reference number in column A) and the other is the blank template file i'm hoping to export data into and then save down with the naming convention "column A_column B.xlsx"
Kept the test files simple but would need to modify any code to apply to much larger database consisting of many more fields etc.

I have a list of invoice #'s on a sheet named "Temp Sheet".
I have a VBA macro that created a new tab for each entry and named it the invoice #. So basically the vba code created a new tab ( based on the number of invoice #'s on my list ), and named each tab an invoice number. So if I had a list of 10 invoice #'s, named S1-S10, the vba code created 10 tabs, named S-1, S-2,. S-3.....
Now to my question.
I have a template sheet I want to copy from ( "Template" ), and select any sheet that starts with "S", and copy/paste this template to.

I am running excel 2000 and need some assistance with creating a search macro. I have a simple spreadsheet created with 3 columns and 500 rows. Column A is name, B is a given # and C is employee status. What I need the macro to do is once a user enters the employee #, it highlights and takes the user to the corresponding name (Column A). I apologize for asking a "novice" question, but i have very little experience in this side of excel.

excel data table within the charts. I would like to customize the data table placing underneath the chart so I can highlight (say, in red) some of the figures that are greater than certain values for easy reference. Is there anyway I can do with it (since I got more than 800 charts) than that I can only use tools to draw a rectangle and cover that particluar cells up? or is there any ways I can link up the conditional formatting of the data itself with the chart so I can applying certain coloring on the data and reflect on the data table?

If Range("S7").Value "" Then .MaximumScale = Range("S7").Value

I have a template file for ordering trafolyte and steel plates. I have added macros to this template file. The existing macros do the following (shortly described):
Macro 1: clears order
Macro 2: update order date + send a read only file to the supplier of plates + save a read only copy of the file into one of three folders acc to info in one of the cells.
It's the Macro 2 I want to edit.
I want to add a "function" which copy a selection of data.column A to N from row 12 to 548 but only the rows where there is a value in column A.
Row 1 to 11 includes standard order info and Macro buttons.
Row 11 includes the heading for order data.
For everytime someone click on the Macro 2 button in the template file, I want the selection to be paste into the first "available" row in a "Total list" file.
The "Total list" file may have to be open (or a function to open, paste selection and then close the "Total list" file may be added)
File and Folder info:
To simplify suggestions, the following file and path info can be used (I can change to the correct later):
Template file name: template_order.xlsm
Template file location: \servershared emplate
Total list file name: total_list.xlsx
Total list file location: \servershared otal
Selection info:
The template file exists of a "general order info area" A1:N10
The column heading for order data is located at A11:N11
The selection to be copied is A12:N550 - But only rows where column A includes data (not empty).
(If the spesific order consists of 14 plates than there will be item no 1-14 in column A and I then I want to copy A12:N25 (row 25 will be item 14).
When I try to use record macro it looks like it only records what's happening in the template file - It doesn't record the pasting in the total list.

I have an Active X SpinButton control directly on a spreadsheet that changes the input cell. (The idea is that later on, there'll be a bunch of these input cells, accompanied by their respective SpinButton controls).
I'm allowing the user to define the Min, Max, and Step (SmallChange) value of the SpinButton because (1) I need it to do decimal points and negative numbers and (2) that's what my boss would have wanted.
So I set the Min, Max, SmallChange value in the SpinButton properties to "0" then try to manipulate them in the VBA code.
What went wrong with the code is hard to explain. But basically, when I use the SpinButton to increment or decrement, it didn't quite do it correctly. If I fix the increment part of code, then the decrement part of the code goes wrong and vice versa.
An example: I have Min as "0.5%" in cell B7; Max as "4.5%" in cell B8; and Step (SmallChange) as "0.5%" in cell B9. The Input cell is in cell B10 where user can either type in a value within the defined range (enforced by data validation) or use the SpinButton to change the value.
To replicate the problem: I type in "1.0" in the Input cell and click on the left SpinButton and it would not allow me to go to the defined lower limit (which is 0.5%) in this case.
Here are my codes:
Private Sub SpinButton1_SpinUp()
Dim MyMax As Variant
Dim MyStep As Variant
Dim MyInput As Variant
MyMax = SpinButton1.Max + Range("B8").Value
MyStep = SpinButton1.SmallChange + Range("B9").Value
MyInput = Range("B10").Value...................................

I've got an Excel file that I'll be offering for download. I'd like to customize each copy for each user as they download it from the server and am trying to figure out if this is possible & what technology I'd need to use to do so. Simply, I'd like to edit a range in a document, lock it with the built in Excel password protection, and then resave it for the user. Is it possible to write a script to do this w/o opening the file? Any ideas on what technology I'd need to use to do so (.NET framework? OWC?)?
