Format (Underline) Text With A Formula?

May 19, 2013

I need to underline text which is populated from a formula. How to format numbers, dollars and dates within a formula, but how to underline text.

Desired Result: The employee's who sold more than 100 cars this month are: Alex, Mike and Tim. Please congratulate them on their performance!

Formula being used ="The employee's who sold more than 100 cars this month are: "&cell reference&"Please congratulate them on their performance!"

Current result: The employee's who sold more than 100 cars this month are: Alex Mike Tim Please congratulate them on their performance!

Attempts: I wish underlining text were an option within Format Cells/Custom so I could just use the formula =text(cell reference, "underline"). However, I don't see that as an option in the 2007 or 2010 versions. Is there a way to add "underline text" as my own custom format?

I also tried using "Conditional Formatting" (both "Format cells only that contain" and "Use a formula to determine which cells to format)." I can't quite get it because I don't know how to list names for the former conditional formatting. Vlookup is the only way I know how to refer to a list for the formula based conditional formatting, but this would stop after the first name on the list is found and ignore the rest of them.

Formula Turns Cell To Text Format

May 7, 2007

I have a workbook with two worksheets. I added a formula to the first worksheet
= COUNTIF(Scorecard!H3,"K"). It works fine when I add another COUNTIF that references another column (baseball fans may realize I'm counting total strikeouts for a batter): =COUNTIF(Scorecard!H3,"K")+COUNTIF(Scorecard!L3,"K") However, when I try to expand this to cover more columns, =COUNTIF(Scorecard!H3,"K")+COUNTIF(Scorecard!L3,"K")+COUNTIF(Scorecard!P3,"K")

Excel automatically changes the format of this cell to "Text" and it shows the formula as text instead of calculating it. What could be wrong here? Excel's documentation is woefully inadequate for cases like this. Is there an undocumented limit on how many times I can add COUNTIFs together?

Text Copy To Another Sheet Based On Change Of Actual Cell

If Not Application.Intersect(KeyCells, Range(Target.Address)) Is Nothing Then

ActiveCell.Offset(0, 1).Value = ((ActiveCell.Offset(0, -4).Value) * (ActiveCell.Offset(0, -5).Value)

Select / Activate Specific Row Then Copy Format / Formula To All Blank Rows

Jan 21, 2012

I need a code that will copy the format AND formulas of the entire row that I have selected (or activatedwith my cursor) to each and every blank row - until it gets to the last row of data on this spreadsheet.Since any employee could have more than 1 row of data - I am using a code that inserts1 blank row after each NEW employee name.

NOTE: This report is initially sorted by employee name so that each occurrence is grouped together.REPORT SPECIFICS:1) This report reflects typical paryoll information.2) Certain columns have data that is either in text, general, or number ($) format3) The number of columns may vary depending on which PR report is being worked4) For the sake of simplicity - we can assume that the column titles will always be across row 15) Each employee name on this report may repeat several times depending on how many weeks they worked,so the SUM() formula should adjust automatically to capture all the rows of data to add up for each employee

Formula To Change Date In One Cell Based On Text In Another?

Jan 29, 2014

I am trying to put together a report tracking sheet, ie I have different test that take a different length of time to return to the office and I want to be able to see when a test should be back from the lab,ie:

A blood sample takes 1 day, a urine sample takes 3 days.

I need a formula that basically says that if the data in cell A1 = Blood, (and I have the test date in cell A2) then the data in cell A3 should says A1=Blood, A3=A2+1 to give me the test due date

I found the following formula in one of the other posts;

=IF(E5="BLOOD",G5+1,IF(E5="URINE",G5+3,0))

The problem that this will only work with two tests and I have more than two tests, I have fourteen and each takes a different length of time to process.

Copy Fill From Another Cell That Is Formatted To Change Depending On Its Formula

Dec 10, 2012

As seen from my attached file,

The colour of the percentage cell changes according to its percentage. I would like the S/N cells to have the same colour as the total percentage cells automatically. (Even when the percentage updates)

Secondly, for the cells under "Target", if the target dates are 1 day before today(the current date on a particular day) and the actual date is not filled, the cell fill will turn amber.

If today is on or after the target date and the actual date is not filled, the cell will turn red.

However, if the actual date is filled, the target date cell will be filled green, overwriting the above two condition.

Copy Formula To Another Sheet And Simultaneously Change Reference Cell?

Apr 29, 2014

I have an excel workbook that has many spreadsheets (each one sheet has a client name)I have another excel workbook that has these client names on one sheet (on a list) and next to every name I have a number (i.e total turnover of the year).

In the first workbook (where every client has his sheet (tab named after the client) I want to have a cell that equals to the sum of some cells on the other workbook, that refer to the specific client

(it looks like this ='[comissions NF 10-14.xls]comissions 14(auto)'!$J$81+'[comissions NF 10-14.xls]comissions 14(auto)'!$J$197+'[comissions NF 10-14.xls]comissions 14(auto)'!$J$313+'[comissions NF 10-14.xls]comissions 14(auto)'!$J$429)

I want this sum to be added to every sheet of this workbook. each sheet refers to a client, so $J$81, $J$197 etc must be changed for the correct cell that refers to the name of the client. The tab names are alphabetical and so s the list.

Is there any way to do it, without re-entering the formula to each one?
