Macro / Formula / VBA To Change Time Format And Data In A Cell?
Mar 7, 2014
I have a time format in one excel sheet, I need a macro or a formula to change it into a specific format, this is to be able to import it to another software.
I have attached a file here you can see an example, this I manually, I want Row D and E into the format in A, I s it possible to make it in a macro or formula, manually it takes a long time.
I have a formula (below) that looks only at records based on specific filtering criteria or conditions; one of those conditions is the month of the year: ('Data Dump'!$Q:$Q,Summary!$A$26). This portion of the formula would change as a month is selected.
Opposed to having to rewrite the formula every time that I want to view a specific month, I want to automate the formula to change the first condition when a user selects a month from Column A. This would be a real time, automatic refiltering and recalculation as the user selects different months from Column A
Current Formula that filters and shows only January records. =COUNTIFS('Data Dump'!$Q:$Q,Summary!$A$26,'Data Dump'!$D:$D,Summary!$A$2,'Data Dump'!$M:$M,Summary!C$2)
Column A (January is in cell A26) January February March April May June July August September October November December
I have a column with times in it, it seems to be formatted to HH:MM I would like to change this to HH:MM:SS but it will not seem to change at all by formatting the cells, does this mean I will need to go through each individual time and change it to the new format or is there some sort of work around?
Can i put into the cells B38-AF38, that would display the sum of B20:AF20 + B24:AF24 + B28:AF28 + B32:AF32 +B36:AF36 in a h:mm format.
When imputing the data into a cell in a h:mm format, I need it to display in that cell and formula bar the h:mm format without having to put an apostrophe in front of "h" or ":mm" value. Once complete, this form is going to go to other trainers to use on their computers and I dont think they would remember to keep putting an apostrophe before the data.
Example:
B20= 1:15 (1h15m) NOT 1:15:00 AM
B24= :30 (30min)
B28= :45 (45min)
B32= 1:45 (1h45m) NOT 1:45:00 AM
B38= 4:15 (4h15min)
I have attached a copy of the form for better clarification.
It doesnt seem to be complicated, but it's certainly a lot more than I thought.
I have a consolidated sheet which I maintain to keep track of the scores of my team. Unfortunately from time to time, the format of all the cells is getting changed to "time" value. I do sometimes use an addin which I have downloaded from Straxx.com (excel password remover) and I am not sure if this add-in has anything to do with this.
I am having to change the format of almost 20+ columns every time this happens.
I have two columns where there are dates (e.g. 11/05/2009) in a date format; I would like to change the format to `general`; but without losing the original values, i.e. I still want to see 11/05/2009, but just in `general`format. Is it possible to create a macro that will do that? I want these values to stay in the same place, i.e. if it is in cell K10, I still want to have it there - just in other format.
I would like to have a single button that changes a range of cells from the USD to EURO to perhaps CAD symbol. Can this operation be performed, such that if I start in dollars, and I click the button once, it shifts by range to EURO (not formulas...just symbol)...and then if I click the same button again, it goes to CAD, and then back to USD with a third click?
I have one column with as many as 50,000 or more rows. The data format for each row/ cell is unique as shown below ( date and time). I wanted to split the data as shown in "Formatted Data" below. Have Tried Text To Column formatting but didn't work right.
Raw Data: Formatted Data (2 cells): 2005/11/02 23:55:15.758 ==> 2005/11/02 23:55:15.758 2005/11/02 23:58:16.698 ==> 2005/11/02 23:58:16.698 2005/11/03 00:07:13.830 2005/11/03 00:10:14.971
I am using the worksheet change routine for conditional formating of more than three items.
The problem is that it only changes if I manually type within the page and does not update if the cells are updated via formulas.
To explain a little more, I have three sheets that I combine into one to help find the best rate from three companies using the following formula:
=IF(AND(MIN(PMI!C4,UG!C4,GE!C4)=PMI!C4,MIN(PMI!C4,UG!C4,GE!C4)=UG!C4,MIN(PMI!C4,UG!C4,GE!C4)=GE!C4),FIXED(PMI!C4,2)&" All",IF(AND(MIN(PMI!C4,UG!C4,GE!C4)=PMI!C4,MIN(PMI!C4,UG!C4,GE!C4)=UG!C4),FIXED(PMI!C4,2)&" PMI/UG",IF(AND(MIN(PMI!C4,UG!C4,GE!C4)=PMI!C4,MIN(PMI!C4,UG!C4,GE!C4)=GE!C4),FIXED(PMI!C4,2)&" PMI/GE",IF(AND(MIN(PMI!C4,UG!C4,UG!C4)=GE!C4,MIN(PMI!C4,UG!C4,GE!C4)=GE!C4),FIXED(UG!C4,2)&" GE/UG",IF(MIN(PMI!C4,UG!C4,GE!C4)=PMI!C4,FIXED(PMI!C4,2)&" PMI",IF(MIN(PMI!C4,UG!C4,GE!C4)=UG!C4,FIXED(UG!C4,2)&" UG",IF(MIN(PMI!C4,UG!C4,GE!C4)=GE!C4,FIXED(GE!C4,2)&" GE","ERROR"))))))) Please feel free to condense this if you like.
So when I update a reference on one of the first three sheets, the cells update on this sheet but the cell colors never change. This is the code for the worksheet change
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
Dim Cel1 As Range Dim Rng1 As Range
On Error Resume Next Set Rng1 = ActiveSheet.Cells.SpecialCells(xlCellTypeFormulas, 1) On Error GoTo 0
I have a Excel Dates & Times column where the time is not always used. In these cases the time is 12:00AM. Is there a way to Custom Formats the cell so that the time is only visible if it is not 12:00AM?
I have a protected worksheet. Users wish to be able to track changes in the input cells. The suggested approach for this is to temporarily disable sheet protection and allow them to change the font color, then protect afterwards. What I would like to do is:
i) check whether they are in an input cell ii) if so, then prompt the user with the 'Font Color' dialog box iii) apply the font color selected to the input cell
I'm struggling to find the dialog box I need. I can launch the one to change the interior color, no problem (Application.Dialogs(xlDialogPatterns).Show). But that's no use to me, I just want a color palette that specifically relates to the Font Color
I have a spreadsheet that contains the 5 digit numbers in the rows and the columns respecstively. I'd like a formular or macro to change font color for each cell. If the combined value of the 5 rows are greater or less than the combined range 87030 and 87200, the 5 cells will be changed to Red. If:.........
The loop is putting the correct formula into the cell - but THEN... - I wish to (within the loop and before it moves on) check if the value is equal to OR greater than 1 - if it is, make it a value of 1 (this '1' is then used at the bottom of the column of data to give a total). I need to do this before it moves onto the next cell. What am I doing wrong? Is it because once it puts formula in the cell, it then moves down - do I need to select the cell again first? As I had originally posted on this site - link: url]http://www.excelforum.com/showthread.php?t=641970[/url]
In cell A1 is time now. =NOW() Cell A2 is a date in the future. I want to calculate remaining time in Months/days/hours/minutes format by subtracting A1 from A2.

I have a code and I want to run this macro whan a specific cell change (which has sum formula) and this code also has some calculation. And I m not understanding to overcome this problem through Calculate event.
I have a worksheet in which I have a worksheet_change macro. This worksheet_change macro makes sure that a few cells will keep their colors, even if the user copies and pastes a new value to that cell. This worksheet_change macro runs each time there is a change on the worksheet. Now my problem is that on the same sheet I have an update list macro which updates around 20.000 rows and two columns (which is alltogether around 40.000 values) and it takes a while to run. So.. it takes a loooooooooot of time (too much) when these two macros both run.
My question is that can I somehow disable the worksheet_change macro while the update list macro runs. I mean something like when I start the update list macro to disable worksheet_change macro and when the update list macro finishes, then reenable worksheet_change macro?
how to change a proportion of text in a resulting concatenation formula.
cell A1 contains the text in bold "ABCDEF", cell A2 containes "GHIJKLM" cell A3 contains =A1 & " " & A2 but I want the cell A1 part to remain in bold. Is there a way of using the TEXT function e.g. =TEXT(A1,BOLD) & " " & A2?
I have two Date range in different cell and I want them two return "TRUE" value even if the start time or end time of another is earlier or later by 1-2 hours:
Example: I want to Compare Data from Cell A to B. Values should return True as it is within 1-2 hour range.
I have an application that updates the text string in A1 every x minutes (time may vary). I'm trying to develop a toutine that will trigger a Macro/call a function/subroutine once only on each change of data (and then not trigger again until the next change...and must only trigger on change of data in this specific cell). So the timeline looks like this
start A1 = "Apples", Fire macro once
start + 10mins A1 = "Oranges", Fire Macro Once again
start + 25mins A1 = "Pears", Fire Macro Once again
etc.
Triggering the macro is no problem but constraining to one triggering is proving a problem (for me anyway) and is really holding up my application progress.
i'm having trouble working coming up with a formula. I have a list of people and if i put a x next to their name, i want their name to cross outs. the IF formula does not copy over the format (strikethrough, italics). my question is, what formula would copy this over and change the text?
I have an excel dataset and I have dates entered differently. For example they could be written as:
MM/DD/YY MM/DD/YYYY M/D/YY M/D/YYYY .... ....
Ultimately what I am interested in doing is writing a macro (and saving it in its own file) that can be run on any excel spreadsheet that will change the dates to be formatted the same: MM/DD/YYYY
The issue is that a date written as 10/10/27 would need to be changed to 10/10/1927 (so adding the 19).
I have a worksheet that needs revolving times based on the time now, if the time in the cell before the time now it moves up keeping in order, if it is after the time now it moves to the bottom of the list and starts again and this is based on a 24 hour period.
I don't know if this would work as a ranking formula or vba, either solution would be ok, but this on has me stumped.
