I recorded one that does a very simple task, converts formulas to values. I saved it in my personal workbook, all is well. I noticed that excel names them Module1, Module2 etc. I thought it would be better to name them, so in the properties window next to "name" i changed Module1 to ConvertFormulas.
However, when i go to a worksheet, the keyboard shortcut no longer works. Reverting back to the old name Module1 solves this. Clicking Tools -> Macro -> Macros, selecting ConvertFormulas and then Options and modifying the shortcut.
I have been playing around with my vb editor and i have managed to lose my properties window and now can't get it back.
I was playing around with the dockable option to see what it did and somehow i have managed to lose the properties window altogether. If i go to the view menu in the vb editor and choose properties window then nothing happens.
If for any reason I completely close excel during the workday, then when I restart the application none of my macros are active. Even if I manually open the PERSONAL workbook that contains my macros. Any fixes other than restarting the computer?
Overview: I have a workbook named MainPage.xls. This mainpage has several buttons and serves as a switchboard to launch other workbooks. Attached to this Main Page are two worksheets, "Source" and "Value1". The "Source" worksheet is graphical in nature and is used to collect data via a DDE channel to some production industrial processors and then on a timer "log" the data to cells in the "Value1" worksheet. Once the VB code is launched from the "Source" worksheet (via a start button), the code continues to run until it is stopped (via a stop button). The data is then graphed and printed out, etc.
This works very nicely and provides "live" graphing of some constantly changing data. Once the "Source" worksheet data VB code is running, I need to be able to minimize the worksheets and return to my Main Page and further be able to open any one of the other workbooks on the Main Page and work with that page(s). Thus far, I can minimize the "Source" and "Value1" worksheets and return to the Main Page and the VB code runs along nicely in the background.
However... IF I attempt to open any other workbook from the Main Page, my data collection/graphing code stops and I get a Run-time error 9, subscript out of range... and Excel completely shuts down.
I know this must have something to do with the worksheet that runs the VB code losing focus when another workbook is opened.
I have a workbook that prompts a user with a msgbox and then a SaveAs dialog. It works but when users intend to open the workbook from Internet Explorer, the SaveAs dialog stays behind the browser and everything freezes. Ideally I would want the workbook SaveAs to stay on top till user saves the workbook. Any help?. Here is my Open and Save code.

The following macro works when I run using Alt+F8+Enter The macro also works when it is linked to a button on the worksheet. However, it does not work when I try to use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Shift+P. I've tried adding the shortcut key code into the macro -- still doesn't work. I've tried changing the shortcut key to a different letter
I have a macro stored a module at Personel workbook and i am using personel workbook as a hidden one. when i assign a shortcut below macro it is not working but whrn i am press F5 at VBA Editor it is working.
Here is the code:
Code: Sub Transferdata() On Error GoTo err1: Application.DisplayAlerts = False
I have a workbook that when I open it opens a toolbar that was designed for it. I have been asked to make changes to this toolbar. One of the changes is to allow shortcut keys to run these modules. I have tried recording a macro and viewing the code, I tried applying this code there but it does not using the shortcut key. note that this toolbar is only available to this workbook, so these macros are not available to the personal workbook.
when we record a macro it gives us a option to assign a shortcut key to that macro how ever that is only in combination of "Ctrl" my question is that is there a way by which we can use any other combination like "Ctrl"+"Shift"+ <key>
i am trying to import an excel document and then copy over some columns to another worksheet from the imported worksheet, using a macro. Everything imports and copies over fine except for one column that has cells that comprise of a list of number separated by commas. When these cells get copied over some of the values retain the commas but some of them (specially when there are a lot values separated by comma) gets changed to this format
From: 1,229,124,012,441,230 To: 1.22912E+15
From: 1044,1048,1052,1053 To: 1.0441E+15
From: 1279,1282,1286,1295,1299 To: 1.27913E+19
From:926,929,938 To: 926929938
I am trying to figure out whats happening here! Is there a max number of letters this column can take and if it exceeds that value, excel converts them to this format? Or is the formatting gets changed to something else while copying and pasting?
I'm trying to automate a very laborious process where text data is taken from a series of cells in excel 97 and is turned into HTML tables - I've got it all working except for one thing, when I extract the contents of the text the paragraphs are lost and are merged into one long piece of text - obviously I need to insert <br /> characters where the paragraphs are to get this working. how I can extract text from with some kind of marker for the paragraph sections? Or is there a way to insert characters where the excel cell has a paragraph mark (ie a return key has been pressed).
I have a button wich will add data entered on a form to a spreadsheet if the data meets certain criteria. If it does not it will not let you add anything. I would like to add a second button that will add the data even if it does not meet the criteria but I need the second button to only be enabled with a password. Maybe a macro to change the button properties from locked to unlocked (true to false).
While my excel file is protected, I want to have a functionality that allows user to modify on certain areas (of the file), such as below:
1. After the user select number of years at the drop-down list (Main sheet), rows and columns at other related sheets will shift and hide certain values which corresponded from the drop-down list (e.g. if user selects 3 years, then at other sheets, rows from year 1 till 3 will be displayed, and rows for year 4 and year 5 will be hidden).
2. Users can add rows for entering new data at a new line and delete rows for deleting data at the correspond line.
This PC is using the Excel version 2000. At Tools > Protection > Protect Sheet, the available options are 'Content's, 'Objects' and 'Scenarios'. In order to allow users modifying rows/columns (while the file is protected), options such as 'Format Rows' and 'Format Columns' must be checked. But these options are only available in the later versions I believed.
After I have done macro recording for the protection properties at Excel version 2003 (my sister's PC), this is what I got for the .....
I have a macro where I am assigning a variable and the value of the variable is a path where the data is stored. i am trying to assign a shortcut key for macro, i tried to run the macro by going to the vba mode and then click on the F5 function key and the macro run absolutely fine. but when i use the shortcut key the file just opens and just exits the macro.
Code: Option ExplicitDim a, b, c As Long Dim myFolder As String Dim con As New ADODB.Connection Dim rs As New ADODB.Recordset Dim sql As Variant Sub Macro1() Application.DisplayAlerts = False
Can't run vba macro. I have the following problem with a macro in excel. i wrote it, the macro runs very good from excel /tool/macro/macros/run, i also put a button on toolbar -it works too, i want to assign a keyboard shortcut from tool/macro/macros/options / shortcut and THE MACRO RUN INCOMPLETELY (stops running ).
Actually the macro opens all files in a specific folder, and delete their codes as follows:
Sub delete() Const strNotFound As String = "There is NO Excel files..." Dim ffTmp As FoundFiles Dim wb As Workbook Dim objVbc As Object Dim objFile As Variant Dim lngRet As Long Application.DisplayAlerts = True 'Search Excel files With Application.FileSearch .NewSearch .LookIn = "C:Corectii\_CS" .SearchSubFolders = True .FileType = msoFileTypeExcelWorkbooks...............
The macro im using copys a table from excel into a email. Unfortunatly the email is not readable for blackberry users due to the table properties.
I need to change a few properies. This is what i do manually.....
In outlook i then hover over the table right click then select "Distribute rows evenly" then i right click again but this time i select "Table properties" i then go to the "Row" Tab
i then untick the "allow row to break across pages"
then tick "specify height" and change the value to 0.4 cm and finally change "row height is" to "exactly"
Below is the whole code im using so far....
Code: Sub Mail_Selection_Range_Outlook_Body() Dim rng As Range Dim OutApp As Object
I have a bunch of Option Buttons in a worksheet whose properties i need to change by running a macro. For example, I created an OptionButton1 in a worksheet using control toolbox. Now I want to run a macro to change it's name, groupname, linkedcell and caption. I did this macro but it doesn't work:
Sub Label() Dim Code1 As String Dim Link1 As String Dim Form1 As String Dim GroupName1 As String Dim Caption1 As String Worksheets("Section1").Select Form1 = "OptionButton1" Code1 = "FButton1" Link1 = "FLink1" 'Defined in worksheet GroupName1 = "FGroup1" Caption1 = "Choose Function 1" With Worksheets("Section1").Form1 .Name = Code1 .LinkedCell = Link1 .GroupName = GroupName1 .Caption = Caption1 End With End Sub
However, I have not been able to find a solution. I created 2 macros that work using the alt+F8 and enter option as well as the run from the macros menu method. Whenever I try to use the keyboard short cut eg. Ctrl+e it will either not do anything or pause and then select every cell. The codes are below:
Sub Macro5() ' ' Macro5 Macro '
[Code]....
I have tried multiple letter options and have also tried many macros in a new workbook and I cannot get it to run with the keyboard shortcut.
Could some one amend the VBA below to allow a continous loop on moving to the previous sheet within a workbook. Currently when I move to the first sheet if I use the shortcut key I get a debug error.
Is there any way to define a shortcut for an exisiting macro. The reason for this request is that after a lot of struggle I got a VBA code to work (as a macro)... initially I had created an icon and had linked the same to this macro.... However I feel that defining a short-key would be much more productive.
A macro, which would allow me to click on a particular cell, which will have an ID number (1 through 34), each ID# is attributed to a particular employee. These ID# are located in my spreadsheet in columns B & G, and the ID #'s begin initially in B6 & G6 and continue downward to B34 & G34. These ID #'s are used in a vlookup type formula which covers 35 pages of this workbook. What I'd like to do is be able to click on any cell between B6& B34 (and/or the same in G6&G34), which has a particular ID # in it and have the photo of that particular employee designated with that ID# pop up in a window generated by the macro. I hope this makes sense! Any help would be greatly appreciated. My 1st sheet in my workbook is my "lookup" tab, which contains my ID# list and numbering sequence affiliated to each employee. So I'm not sure if I'd need to put the photograph of the employee in a column next to the employees name or have a folder designated with all my pictures in a certain directory, etc.
I'm trying to assign a shortcut to a macro I wrote in VB. However, when I go to Tools->Macros->Macros, none of my macros (whether coded in VB or recorded) have the "Options..." button enabled, so I can't assign the macro. This happens whether I use Excel 2003 or Excel 2007. The file is not readonly and I have tried the various levels of macro security. I have VBA installed.
Just want to know if is possible control a popoup window through a VBScript Macro in excel? I don't know if I could click a button from a PopUp when it appears? I mean I cant go forward because a popup message appears and I dont know how take the control of it.
I mean how can the parent window take the control of the child window (popup window)
This is the first time i am using this forum. I am having a doubt in the macro. I am using MS-Office 2007 version. In Excel 2007 when you go to "developer" tab, the first group is "code" under that when you click on "Macro". You will be able to see a button called "create". Can you tell for what purpose it is used? when it will be "active" because it is always in disabled state.
