Below is code i wrote to change a password. password value is hidden in cell iv4 in different sheets. My userform contains 3 textboxes and button to run macro. As long as old password matches cell value AND new password is entered twice correctly then it will change value in cell iv4.
View 4 RepliesI have a macro that needs to unprotect the sheet before it does what it needs to do. The sheet has a password (i.e. it is not just protected). the macro runs fine but when I go back to the sheet and try to unprotect it, no password is required. simply clicking on Unprotect works and I am nopt prompted for the password in the macro.
I realise that they are not the most secure things anyway but the people who are going to using this will mess around enough to try and unprotect the sheet but if they were to be promted for the password they would stop looking.

The code stops at the first line of the unprotect event, with the message that the password is not correct. If I try to manually unprotect, the password is accepted.
I am trying to password protect some of the cells in a worksheet. However doing that starts giving errors with Macros. The Macros are no longer working and infact giving error. What can I do to stop that happening?

The form has a label, CommandButton and TextBox.
When I run the UserForm, IF you click OK without entering the Password, you still gain access to the Workbook!
IF you type in the wrong Password you still gain access to the Workbook and NO "Invalid password!" message pops up.
What I would like to happen IF the CommandButton is clicked without entering the Password, is for the Workbook to close, and IF the Password is correct, I want to load Useform2

See the attachment. Once you enable it. A userform will ask you for a password. Enter "aes" that will let you in.
My question is, when I enter the wrong password the first time, a userform popsup and asks for the correct the password. once I do place the correct password in the 2nd attempt. The file gets deleted!
It is not suppose to happen. I understand if I entered the password wrong twice the deleteing should take place.

I want to make a user form that works as a password box. I have UserForm1 which is my "Menu" and I created UserForm2, which is my password entry form. The problem I have is that once I click "go" on my password box (which works fine), the Password Box closes but the user form remains open. I want the user form to close as well when I click "Go". So, my password box should close both UserForm1 and UserForm2.

My issue is that once UserForm2 is "unloaded", UserForm 1 is "active" but I cannot simply "Unload Me" again, I get an error.
I have a userform that is used to search and display complaints in the complaint Database. I am trying to achieve following to make it professional:
1. Is it possible to provide users with their own username & password, so that I can give permission to certain users to enter their input. e.g. when a complaint is logged, the owner of the complaint (which will be allocated by me depending on the complaint Category) needs to enter his feedback into a field (a textbox) and close the complaint. I want to give this previlage only to 2-3 nominated users. Every other user will just be able to enter & view complaints.
2. Is is possible to colour code these. Just so that when a user does and a search and views any particular complaint, it will tell him whether that particular complaint is open or closed. So may be closed complaint can have a red complaint number and open ones have a green. Any other ideas for displaying this are also welcome.

I have a spreadsheet that was given to me, which I used as a template. It already had password protection in it for each worksheet, and the macros are also written to unprotect before performing the actions, the re-protect at the end. Everything works fine except I cannot change the password. The thing is is that the password in the macro code is not the same as the actual password which you have to type in when unprotecting the worksheets.
For example the password in the code is "IPP" and the password you have to actually enter into the unprotect sheet box is "AAAABBBABBB&", yet all the macros still work like this. When I attempt to unprotect the sheet (with the AAAA... code) and re-write the password codes in the macros to say "###" then re-protect the sheet with the new password and run the macros it'll work fine, but when I save and close and then re-open the password required to unprotect the sheet reverts back to the "AAAABBB...." and then the macros stop working because the passwords don't match (even though they didn't match before!!!)
There is no encryption password or workbook password as far as I can tell, only the worksheet protection. Why cannot I no get the password changed?

I have code, attached to the cmdSubmit1 button on my UserForm. The purpose is to allow access to a veryhidden Worksheet "ADMIN".
The code 'works' if I enter in both the correct UserName and Password (ie: the code completes & Admin sheet opens up).
The code 'works' if I enter in the correct UserName and the wrong password (ie: code completes it's run, my msg pops up to say there is wrong input, unloads the form & sheet ADMIN stays veryhidden).
However, if I enter the wrong username (with either right or wrong password) the code breaks and I get a debug error. I know my code is obviously wrong/missing something etc - but I can't work it out! The line of code highlighted on the break, is between the *** below

Let's say want to change the birthdays I see, so I press the button and enter the new values through another userform with inputboxes.
How do I make that change permanent, so that next time I start the macro in the labels 2 and 4 I have the last entered values for the birthdays???
Im trying to add a print button to a userform. But three things that have to happen when the button is clicked:
1.Excel has to tell the print dialogue box to ensure the page will only fit on one page by one page
2.The print dialogue box has to pop up so the user can ensure the settings of the print
3.Right now when the print happens scroll bars are printing from the userform. I need those to disappear
This code in its current state is messing with me, it appears I set it to one page by one page but yet when the print happens its only printing the last part of my userform. And right now it also does trigger the dialogue box so that part is solved. I just cant figure out why its not resizing to one page by one page.

A userform is called up upon a calculation change in the spreadsheet on two computers and has for years. We just hired a new employee and the userform is not pulling up for her. Instead she gets an error: Runtime error 75...Could not find the specified object.

basically the code asks if the if the answer placed in a cboAccount (combo box) is valid against the list designated to that combo box,
If the entry is not valid a message box appears asking if they would like to add the entry to the valid list if they do not want to do this they can click no and in which case I wan't the focus to be set back to the combo box however currently the setfocus command above does not does not work and the focus is set to the next text box.
I have an excel spreadsheet that I password encrypted in Excel 2003.
The computer that it was stored on has died however the hard drive was still good and has been added as a second drive in my current computer with no signs of data corruption.
I took ownership of all the files on the old drive and gave explicit rights on my current computer to open that file. However when I open the file with in excel. I get the error: You don't have permission to open this file. Contact the file owner or an administrator to obtain permission.
When I open from windows explorer. I get the error: Excel cannot access 'Passwords.xls' The document may be read-only or encrypted.
And: 'Password.xls' cannot be accessed. The file may be corrupted, located on a server that is not responding, or read-only.
The new computer has Excel 2010 instead of 2003. Additionally, I know the password to the encrypted file but it wont let me even get to a place where I need to put in a password. I cannot move or copy this file to another location either.
I have a UserForm which enables the user to input sales figures for each month for 5 years.
At the bottom of each year is the total box.
At the moment it only sums the 12 months when each month has a figure in it. Sometimes the user only needs to enter, lets say, 4 months figures and the total box doesn't work. It also doesn't sum as data is entered i.e. it only adds them up when all 12 months TextBoxes have a number in them.
Can I literally make it as simple as it would be on a normal worksheet i.e. =SUM(A1:A12) ??

I have a UserForm with Combo Boxes, List Boxes, Text Boxes etc. When the OK button is clicked I want it to ensure certain fields are not left blank and notify the user (see code below). This works great for the combo boxes but not for list boxes. It seems to skip over that code. In other words, in the code below, if a manager is not selected, it doesn't notify the user.
