Conditionally Hide Rows Based On Cell Value

Sep 29, 2006

I'd like to hide rows based on the value of a specific cell (that specific cell will always be C14, and it will have up to 8 variables selectable from a drop down list).

For example, if C14 = Innovative/exploratory, i'd like to hide rows 15-45. If C14 = Technical Service, i'd like to hide rows 15-32, and 42-44. I'm not familiar with VB, but am a quick study -

It the cell is empty (not just zero value, but completely empty of all formulae), then I want to leave it unhidden, then if the cell value is less than the value in cell E2 I want to hide the row. This code doesnt seem to like the first if...then next i

Set v = cell.Value("$E$2")
' Turn off screen refresh for speed
Application. ScreenUpdating = False
' Get last row Col BS

If IsEmpty(Cells(i)) Then Next i
ElseIf Cells.Value(i) < v Then Rows(i).Hidden = True
End If
Next i

Code To Conditionally Expand Or Collapse Only Certain Grouped Rows

May 13, 2011

I have several groupings of rows in worksheet. I need to have each separate grouping be able to automatically expand or collapse based on a value in each group.

ie-
Grouping Rows 11-15
Grouping Rows 21-25
Grouping Rows 31-36

If cell values in A10, A20, or A30 = 1, then the grouping below it would need to be collapsed, and if not, then expanded.

Conditionally Hide Columns

I am currently using the following code to hide each row when there is no data between a certain column range. I need to add to this code so that it will also hide each column when there is no date between the row range.

Private Sub Worksheet_Activate()
Dim HiddenRow&, RowRange As Range, RowRangeValue&
ActiveWindow.DisplayZeros = False
Application. ScreenUpdating = False
For HiddenRow = FirstRow To LastRow
Set RowRange = Range(FirstCol & HiddenRow & _

RowRangeValue = Application.Sum(RowRange.Value)
If RowRangeValue <> 0 Then
'there's something in this row - don't hide

'there's nothing in this row yet - hide it

Conditionally Hide Tabs-If They Are Empty

Jul 28, 2009

I have about a dozen tabs, all of which have vlookups in them and calculate based on what a user pastes into Sheet 1. I need a macro that hides all tabs that have no data, essentially tabs where A1 = ""

However, it also needs to unhide tabs as soon as there is data. So if the user pastes new data into Sheet 1 the vlookups, on the other sheets, still need to run (even if they are hidden) and then check against the macro to determine whether to be hidden or unhidden.

Conditionally Hide Pivot Data Fields

Jun 17, 2008

I have pivot tables with one row field and two or three data fields. I want to be able to quickly hide rows that do not have entries in *all* data fields.

I thought of auto- filtering my data source, but don't think that would be practical as I want to have several tables powering off of the same source data (with many columns), and also the data source is auto-filled with API... Is there a way to traverse the rowfields with vba and hide them if there isn't an entry for every data field? Or a better way than both of those?

Code To Hide All Rows Not Containing Keyword

Jul 7, 2009

I have a sheet with 3 ranges of data in Sheet4, being partcode (B20:B20000), description (C20:C20000) and price (D20:D20000).

What I'd like is a macro to take a keyword entered in Sheet4!C17, search the whole range (B20:D20000), and hide the rows that don't contain the keyword.

Autofilter would be the logical method to my way of thinking, but can that work with a keyword entered in a cell, and can it all be hidden in a macro behind a control button?

Conditionally Show / Hide Combobox Based On Cell Value

Jun 5, 2013

I'm quite new to VBA, but I am attempting to get a Forms ComboBox to appear or disappear based on whether a certain cell (P7) reads YES or NO. P7 in turn updates in turn based on a user-selected value. As of now, the ComboBox only appears or disppears if I go back in and out of the formula I entered into P7. Basically, I want my ComboBox to dynamically update based on the value in P7. That may sound a little muddled, so here is my code for the ComboBox:

Code:
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)

If Not Intersect(Target, Range("P7")) Is Nothing Then
If UCase(Target) = "YES" Then
Me.Shapes.Range("Drop Down 30").Visible = msoTrue
Else
Me.Shapes.Range("Drop Down 30").Visible = msoFalse
End If
End If

End Sub

VBA Code To Hide Unhide A Number Of Rows

Sep 15, 2004

I am trying to create an input sheet with a specified number of rows. My plan was to hide all the empty rows in the table and ask how many rows were required in the table. A button would then be pressed to unhide all the relevant rows thus giving a table of the correct size. My best effort so far looks something like this:

Sub UnhideRows()
Dim i As Integer
Dim myRow As Integer
myRow = Range("A1") + 2
Application. ScreenUpdating = False
For i = Selection.Rows.Count To 1 Step -1
If WorksheetFunction. Sum(Selection.Rows(i)) > myRow Then
Selection.Rows(i).EntireRow.Hidden = True
End If
Next i
Application.ScreenUpdating = True
End Sub

the cell to give the size of the table is A1 and the table starts in A3. The first cell in each row has an index number (=row() - 2), all other cells would be empty to begin with. My attempt did not work.

Conditionally Show/Hide Columns & Change Button Caption

Jan 22, 2009

After scouring the entire OzGrid, I have found the following two macros that partly satisfy what I want to achieve. BTW, following two macros are executed on Sheet2 and I want to achieve the following:
On Worksheet_Activate, show columns that match the criteria value in Sheet1.D4 (Sheet1.D4 contains a dropdown list with about 6 text values). In addition to that, if Sheet1.D4 value is blank then show all columns. Right now, it successfully shows columns that match the D4 value but does not work if that D4 value is left blank, instead it hides all columns in range (C:CV). So in short, to the first macro, I need to add the criteria if D4 is blank, then keep the sheet intact and don’t hide anything, just show all columns.Once on that sheet after the Worksheet_Activate event has occurred, with the second macro “ToggleColumnsVisibility” following things need to happen. BTW, currently this macro is assigned to a button (from Forms Toolbar).If cell D4 has a value, then the button’s caption should read “Show All” and when that button is pressed, it should show all columns in the range (C:CV), and the button's caption needs to change to “Show Selected”. In “Show Selected” mode, when that button is pressed, it needs to show all the columns that match the D4 value.If cell D4 is left blank, then the button's caption should read "No Action" and when the button is pressed, it should not do anything but just show all columns.

As you will notice in the header, my experience with Excel is very limited, so detailed instructions will be greatly appreciated. I am also hoping that proposed solution uses some of the efficient/effective ways of using loops such as described below (example taken from this website from this link http://www.ozgrid.com/VBA/SpeedingUpVBACode.htm)

Sub TrueOrFalseFaster()
Dim bYesNo As Boolean
Dim i As Integer
bYesNo = (i = 5)
MsgBox bYesNo
End Sub

Sub ToggleTrueOrFalseFaster()
Dim bYesNo As Boolean
bYesNo = Not bYesNo
MsgBox bYesNo
End Sub .........

VB Code - How To Hide Rows Automatically If Certain Conditions Met (in Button)

Ideally, I'd like for this to be applied with the use of a macro (button) and then also deactivated when not desired (possibly another button). I've seen some varieties of code for this but none have worked flawlessly yet. An example sheet I would like for this to work on is my "ADM" sheet", among others.

Macro Code Automatically To Hide Rows Based Condition

Apr 26, 2008

I have a spreadsheet that calculates percentages and then outputs the results to a pie chart. There are 9 different percentages being graphed in cells A41 to A49. The chart looks weird if any of the percentages end up being 0, so I have the formula set to add 0.00001 to each calculation (so they show up as 0% and display on the chart as 0%, but truly are 0.00001). I would like it so that if any of these 9 percentages ends up being 0 (or really 0.00001) that the row automatically hides and thus won't display on the pie chart. How can I create a macro that automatically runs to accomplish this, and automatically updates as percentages are recalculated.

-Only count the fix time for the previous error that has occurred.
-I have tried different combinations of using the MATCH and INDEX formula but have only received errors
-I can add additional calculation cells
-I can use VBA(although it will add to the already fairly long run time)

Macro To Insert Rows Conditionally

Apr 8, 2014

I've got a dataset of certain trades across different markets and traders, and on different days. The date of the trade is in column A, the contract ID is column D and the trader ID is column J.

Traders do not trade every day. I would like to insert a new row/rows for each date on which traders do not trade between their first and last trade, for each market in which they participate.

Is this possible using macros?

And, if so, then I would like to insert the high and low prices for the market on those dates from a different worksheet into the newly created blank rows. On this second workbook the contract ID is column A, the date is column C, the high price is column F and the low price is column E. I would like the low price to be inserted into column AJ on the original worksheet and the high price into column AK.

Conditionally Format Rows Based Duplicates Only Found In First Column?

Dec 6, 2013

I'm trying to conditionally format rows of data based on duplicates in the first column, then filter the results. I have a table of data with mutiple variables assigned to different "headings" that looks a little something like this:

A
B
C
D

[Code]....

[selects the table, then GoTo Special selects the blanks, fills in the blanks with the cell above, then Copy and Pastes As Values the entire table again to fill everything in]

I’m stuck on how to input a formula into the conditional formatting window that will:
Format the text to white in columns A, B, and E based on there being a duplicate above that row in Column A only. i.e. conditionally format the values with a * below:

A
B
C
D
E

[Code]....

If I use the conditional formula I found: =A1=A2, then cell E3 gets made white text when I don’t want it to, hence the “referencing column A” part of the question (Column A is always a unique ID number whereas Column E can have a duplicate in the row above). [Edit: Why can't I type Enter or put a line break here... I'll try re-edit at home...] When I go to filter on Column C for YYY again, the conditional formatting needs to realise to un-white the text, which is my next headache because it means conditional formatting that acts relative to hidden rows as a result of a filter... Oh and did I mention the client wants this done in 2003? This is an afterthought though – as I can force them to use 2010 if need be

Conditionally Hiding / Unhiding Rows In One Worksheet By Referencing Cell In Different Worksheet

May 3, 2013

coding a VBA macro for one of my workbooks, in which I need to be able to hide/unhide various rows in one worksheet depending on the value of a cell in a worksheet elsewhere in the workbook. The rows start off hidden by default.

As a simplified example:

Worksheet1 has a cell that has option "Set 1," and "Set 2." Worksheet2 has two sets of rows (say, 20:30 and 40:50) that need to be hidden/unhidden depending on the cell in Worksheet 1. These are hidden to start with!

So if Worksheet1's target cell says "Set 1", then on Worksheet2, rows 20:30 would stay hidden and rows 40:50 would be revealed, and then if the target cell says "Set 2," then on Worksheet 2, rows 40:50 would then be hidden, but rows 20:30 would then be revealed.

I was thinking of using something like this:

Rows("20:30,40:50").EntireRow.Hidden = True
If Target.Address="'Worksheet1'!A1" Then
If Target.Value = "Set 1" Then
Rows("40:50").EntireRow.Hidden = False
Else
Rows("20:30").EntireRow.Hidden = False
End If
End If

I think this might work, but every time I try to run this I get various errors, like not referencing my target cell correctly.

Conditionally Format Each Group Of Rows And Each Column And Color The Cell In Each Column

Nov 27, 2009

I've a worksheet that is 3750 rows of cells from A to DT and contains only numbers with the exception of a header row. The rows are in groups, primarily 4 rows, although there are exceptions - these rows are separated by blank rows. Small example as follows.

0:001:002:003:004:005:006:007:008:009:000000-296567-6-1-400000286567-300-230000715557-16-11-40-18141755226-348405-362203081417192125-893581061800-2443-11124-289326-81318-1105027854331331211318-10216-161235526785691450451115951-17-1882505656683093102671056-191-33-2710000554740971-61-78-34224107-169-128-17090179-85220-55-63-1-162-140-242-235328266319106113-214-64-148205-4108120-142076-167-60-68-6418081102-800000000000-3099695807185-80356138-123194186210677727125-23233092-2942944748055564476-422051-224-34461486649597117-84209-22-251-94

I have been trying to conditionally format each group of rows and each column and color the cell in each column of four (or less) numbers in each group that represents the maximum number.
It was easy enough to come up with the conditional formatting BUT it will take forever to do this manually. I've been told to use a macro but I know nothing of programming. Has anyone seen or heard of a macro that might already be written to perform this onerous task.

Hide Blank Rows Based On Values In Other Rows

Nov 3, 2006

I have a worksheet used for inventory. In Column A is the quantity (to be entered manually). In Column B is the product description. In Column C is the price of the product, and Column D the total price (column C price x the quantity entered in Column A). At the bottom of the worksheet is a grand total. Also, Column B (products) is grouped into subheadings by the supplier each product came from (for example, row 6 has the title PPG, and then rows 7-137 list every product from PPG).

The calculations in this worksheet work fine. What I am trying to do is, using a macro once all of the appropriate quantities are entered in column A, automatically hide every row of product that does not have a quantity. The tricky part is, if no products under a given supplier subheader are entered, the subheader also hides, and if a quantity is entered, that subheader shows. For example, if I have no quantities under any products for PPG, then the PPG subheader hides, but if just one quantity is added, PPG shows. Also, this list will be constantly updated, new products will be put in and taken out all of the time, so I cannot base the macro on a specific number of rows.

Code TO HIDE Or UNHIDE Row

Jul 24, 2007

I am using the code below on my spreadsheet. What is does is hides Row #1 until Row 41 is reached. When 41 is reached Row 1 appears. Unfortunately (for me) I need to alter this code and was wondering if anyone could tell me if it is possible. First the
Private Sub Worksheet_SelectionChange(ByVal Target As Range)

If Rows(1).Hidden (Target.Row < 41) Then
ActiveSheet.Unprotect
Application.ScreenUpdating = False
Rows(1).Hidden = Target.Row < 41
ActiveSheet.Protect
Application.ScreenUpdating = True
End If

End Sub

What I would now like to happen is that Row 1 stays hidden UNTIL Row 16 is OFF Screen. Can that be done? What has happened is that my row 16 contains the heads for my input table. I have now had to set the rows to resize to accommodate data input. If no rows are resized then Row 16 stays visible until I reach row 40. When row 41 is reached then Row 1 appears which contains my headers as well. I hope this makes sense to someone...

SO, IF I can get a code that would keep row one hidden until Row 16 is off screen then it will not matter what rows expand.
