If in column "A" I have 100 rows of data, I would like that in column be will be 100 "combos" with reference to certaing range.

Adding Blank In Data Validation List?
Mar 17, 2006I have a spreadsheet with some cells setup with a drop-down list containing Y, N or N/A
This is being used on a TabletPC but if I make a mistake or need to change back to a blank field I have to invoke the soft keyboard, activate the cell and hit backspace then close the soft keyboard - quite a long-winded procedure just to change an incorrect choice!
What I would like to do is add a blank to the list so if I have to revert back to a blank I can just use the stylus to choose a blank from the chooser list.
How do I add the option of inputting a blank from the Data Validation List bearing in mind I am using the Data Validation Source box for entering my choices directly and not specifying a range of cells?
I have tried adding "" and even a space to no avail.
Create Range List Code For Data Validation
Sep 29, 2007I am using following code to apply data validation list. However this code gives error Intermittently. The error message is 'Application defined or Object defined error'. Also this code looks little cumber some. Will really apprciate if any one can put some ligh on why is this error appearing sometimes. Do I need to change something in the code or add few extra lines. I feel following points will be necessary when you check my code
1. The data of validation list is stored under the column heading 'Reported_By_List'
2. Validation is applied on the range under the column heading 'Reported Through'
3. Start and last Cell Address Of the cells of the column in which data of validation list is

Code That Automatically Run After Selecting Item In Data Validation Dropdown List In Column C
Oct 12, 2011I have a dropdown list in C24:C50 (=CategoryList) with data validation and a sub list in D24:D50 (=ItemList) with data validation. I am looking for a way to have code automatically run after selecting an item in the data validation dropdown list in column C.
Example; I click on C24 and make a selection. I what it to trigger code that would move me to D24 and open up the data validation list in D24. After the selection in D24 I would like it to move me back and down 1 row to C25. I have not found anything directly related to this but I have found that code can be run after a selection in a valadition list.
Data Validation Used To Create Separate Data Validation List
Feb 15, 2014I have 2 columns First Name & Surname. What I want to do is create a data validation list on the surname which results in the 2nd data validation list only showing the first names which link to one of the surnames.
i.e. If I selected Smith in the 1st validation list then I would only like to see 'Paul' as an option in the 2nd list

Adding Data Validation On Multiple Sheets Using Vba
Nov 18, 2013I have multiple sheets (Sheets "A", "B", "C", etc) with the same structure and formatting. For these sheets ("A", "B", "C", etc.), I want to create dropdown lists in column F (cells F2:F100) based on values from a different worksheet (Sheet "DropDown", Cells "B2:B130").
I saw a previous post [URL]... which had a single sheet example. I am trying to come up with vba code for multiple sheets and so far it's not working.

Fire Chart VBA Code On Validation List Choice
May 8, 2009very complex spreadsheet for weight & balance calculations. It's to the point where everything works perfectly in Excel 2007, but it must be used primarily with Excel 2003. Discovered that a crashing problem had to do with condtional formatting, that's all been cleared and will soon be fixed, but there's one that I just can't quite figure out.
I'm using the worksheet change event to trigger the update of charts... In this case, it's looking at a particular cell that has data validation on a dropdown as the trigger. Works perfectly in 2007, and if I put a msgbox prompt in to be launched by a change of that cell, it launches. I can put the chart update code in a separate sub and launch it manually every time, but I cannot call it from the worksheet change.

When I try to use the name Fruit in my data validation, I get the message "The List Source must be a delimited list, or a reference to single row or column." I thought my name "fruit" was a delimited list.

And I use data validation list in 5 different cells from Cells C1 to C5 then in every cell the list will show all the fruits,
But I want that if I select Any Fruit in cell C1 that should not be included in the remaining 4 cells, and the fruits selected in Cells C1 and Cell C2 should not be included in the remaining 3 cells and so on....
I Used the formula
=IF(C1=A1,OFFSET(A2,,,COUNTA($A$2:$A$5),1),0)
But this works fine if I select Apple in the Cell C1, then the List of C2 Shows all Fruits other than Apple, But if in Cell C1 I select any fruit other than Apple it does not work... (Using Excel2007 & Win XP)

Taking New Data From One List And Adding It To Another List Via VBA?
Feb 10, 2014I have 2 sheets: "MasterInventory" and "InventoryFeed". "MasterInventory", is my full list of all the item I sell on Amazon.com. "InventoryFeed" is populated when I download an update from amazon and paste the data into it. Each list has about 30 columns and each list uses identical headings in the top row. The third column in each sheet is for the product's SKU.
What I'd like to do is loop through each row in the "inventoryFeed" sheet, assign it's sku (the value in column 3) to a variable, and then copy the entire Row. Then I'd like to switch to the "MasterInventory" sheet, and look in column C for the identical SKU. If it is found, I'd like to overwrite the entire line by pasting in the data that was copied earlier. If the SKU is not discovered, I'd like to paste the information into the next blank row in the "masterInventory" sheet.
After the whole thing is looped through, I'd like to sort the MasterInventory Sheet from A to Z by the product's SKU.

Mar 18, 2009The idea is to create a liquor order sheet which takes items and prices from a liquor inventory workbook, which is part of the same file. i'm sure that you can do it all fancy with a macro, but unfortunately i'm not super experienced with excel. so i helped myself with what i know a bit -> drop down lists. I created an extra sheet which has 4 ranges on there... the liquor type (liquor, beer, wine), and the 3 sub classes for each type (red/white/blush/sparkling for wine, draft/import for beer and so on and so forth). On the inventory i named the range of all white wines "white", of all red wines "red" ..
On my order sheet i created a drop down list for type and created 2 more via "indirect" .. so when you select "wine" in the first one, the 2nd one will ask you for white/red/blush/sparkling and the last drop down then for the exact item according to the range on the inventory.
Hope what i did so far is understandable ^.^
Now my problem is that i want the unit cost to be copied when an item is selected. So you select "beer" in A1, "import" in A2, "corona" in A3... and the price for corona (which is written in a cell on the inventory sheet) should show up in A4.
I attached a screen of the inventory sheet so that you can see how it is structured.

I have created a drop-down list for the range : C3:C65000 using Excel 2003 and Windows XP Pro. I did this using Excel's Data Validation Tool. The settings I used are as follows:
Allow: List
Source: =GROUPS
Check Box Ignore Blank is Ticked
Check Box In-cell dropdown is Ticked
GROUPS = GROUPS!$A$2:$A$29
Now all this works well, such that when I click in the cell range : C3:C65000, then a dropdown list appears - showing a list of all my groups.
However, when I click on any of the dropdown lists in this range, the width of the dropdown list is only as wide as the column. Column C has a width of 20.
What I need please is for the dropdown list to be as wide as the list of information showing in the dropdown list. If some one could please explain on how I can achieve this - that would be great.

Data Validation And List With Formula?

I have a workbook with 2 sheets.
1.sheet contains Columns : DayDateTimeClassTeacherCovered
2. sheet contains the availability of teachers. so all columns start with a date and the rows contain the name.
A row therefore looks like this.

My issue: The 1.sheet has a column Teacher, now in this column I want to have a drop down list. (E2, E3, E4, E5 ... etc..) This list is depended on the date which is in column B.
Essentially I want the list to look up date in its row go to the second sheet and give me all the possible names in it. That is all.

My list is so long that I would like to be able to type a letter or two to access to the name quicker instead of scrolling down.
I copied a formula that worked for someone else that put this formula in the data validation

Feb 19, 2010I am trying to set the below table up as a validation list. I am having issues with putting it in as list as it creates a new line every time a “,” (comma) occurs. I know I can use the custom and pull the list from a table, but I can’t use this option (the reason I can’t use the table, if interested, is because the single sheet with the validation contains about ~35,000 line items that are being split up into ~200 different sheets. Each sheet is then sent as a separate email…the problem with using the table is that it would on a different spreadsheet to begin with. The email only sends one sheet. As such, it would no longer be able to reference the table).

Data Validation List From Another Workbook
May 24, 2012I have two workbooks.
Workbook1 contains validated list which is defined by a Range name and also its data is pulled from workbook2. I am unable to change the value of the validated list from drop down when i close workbook2, infact the validation drop down list do not drop at all so that can select values from it. But if i open the workbook2 i am able to change the values of the validation list.
I want the dropdown list to be active when i close the second workbook.
