I'm try to get the pos. placing in a auto sorted table to remain in place
i.e. 1st next to the top position. 2nd next tothe next position and so on down. but it keeps getting it wrong! I've tried amending the macro serval times but it makes things worse! Sorry can't attach the file, too big for this forum!!!!

When I run the macro, some columns are already hidden. The macro doesn't seem to autosize cells correctly. For instance, one cell in a row appears to have some contents hidden (or below the reading area of the cell). In other instances, the rows are auto-size to huge heights and widths.
I have a command button on my form that unloads it when i am finished. But i have to press it 20 times before it closes. The only line i have in the code is "UnLoad Me"

In column F I have a list of dates (dd/mm/yyyy).
I can manually filter dates ok, but want to set it to part of code to use automation for a report.
The code when run, finds nothing, where it should. I tried using [CDate] also but also same result.
I have a column with a value resulting from a fairly complex formula:
I will not include the formula, but basically what it does is a number of calculations including subtracting dates, that is
TODAY'S DATE - A GIVEN DATE (provided in a different cell)
That means that, either manually or automatically, those values are constantly recalculating (with every second that goes by, that value changes).
And the number of values/cells to update is not few: about 1100.
Here's the problem.
When I press SORT, Excel seems to be absolutely incapable of sorting that list correctly. The values are completely and randomly out of order.
I wonder if it could be due to the fact that given that those values would be constantly changing, there would be a conflict with the commands

update
I have a list a time (HH:MM:SS) that i want to sum together to get the total number of minutes.
It works if I use simply add A2+A3+A4 etc, but not when I use sum(a2:a4).
There are over 2500 lines of data.

The only changes that I have made is a change to a private sub worksheet_change(ByVal TArget as Range). Would these changes have anything to do with this no longer working?
I'm compiling a list of names on a separate tab from a column that only lists the names sporadically. Problem: In the formula, the IF provides a TRUE, the row function, and consequently, the INDEX function (when I hit F9) provides the correct "name" and row number, but when I hit return, it provides the text 4 cells beneath what it should.

I am putting together multiple worksheets with dumped data that should sort themselves by the press of a button. Each entry has a 'code' and a value and they are sorted by the 'code'.
At the moment i have the first worksheet sorting correctly and i am trying to program the second worksheet to sort data into the existing worksheets if they exist or create a new worksheet if the data doesn't have it's own worksheet.
Here is the code i am working with.
I have dates values in 3 columns.
A1 - Header - "Holidays in XXXX'
B1 - Header - "Holidays in YYYY'
C1 - Header - "Leaves by YOU"
A2:B11 have static dates consisting of 10 dates in each column.
C2:C11 - the user may enter any date at any point of time.
I would like to auto-merge the dates in all the 3 columns (A2:C11) in a single column say D2:D31 and then the system should auto-sort the column based on dates in any one order. So as soon as the user enters a value in say cell C2, all the 10+10+1 dates should get sorted.
Also the constraint here is a user may not apply all 10 leaves at in a year. So many of the cells may have blank values.
I'm highlighting a range and then sorting column F from Largest to Smallest. The macro doesn't sort it at all. Added my code tags.

Ok just started using Excel 2013.
Trying to sort 3 columns:

Column 3 is just a ranking from 1-30. So I select all the data in columns 1 and 2 and hit sort from largest to smallest and it looks like excel computes, but nothing changes and it doesn't sort from largest to smallest? A
In a spreadsheet I have a text column with entries such as:

When I sort by this column I expect to get:
10 Times

Instead I get the 1st order. Why? I've selected 'Sort numbers stored as text' separately so it shouldn't be treating 2012 as a number. Besides I've checked & the cell formatting is Text.
I have a filter on the Qty column but when I sort Z -A or A - Z it does not work. I have tried formatting as number but no success, I have never seen this before, why the sort wont work? I am using Excel 2010 in Win 7

I still am unable to use the icons. The icons are clickable to filter or sort, but every time they say that the cells I am selecting are protected. I want them to be protected from editing the data, but want to allow them to be sorted or filtered.
I import a file and paste as CSV. I believe everything is considered text
then, but there are numbers as well. The worksheet has over 4000 lines. I
try to concantenate two cells (ie. a2 and b2). I use the function, but the
result shows the formula. What I want is the new value or the string of
words. I have checked my options and the auto calculate is turned on. I
even try the various F9 keys.
I have entered a custom sort order under 'first key sort order,' but the field is not sorting according to the list.
I'm sure I entered the list correctly, because I actually entered it a long time ago, and it was working for a while. However, today the underlying data was temporarily erased, and the pivot table, when refreshed, basically went blank. I restored the data and refreshed the table, but this field is back to sorting in the wrong order. Refreshing the pivot table and re-choosing the appropriate sort options do not work.
There are only 3 columns, A, B, C and only 10 rows but I would like it to sort automaticaly. I enter data on other sheets and it is loaded automaticaly back to sheet 1 after some calculations are made. I would like the data on sheet 1 to sort automaticaly on column C keeping the rows of data intact.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI am trying to figure out how to auto sort information on a spreadsheet so that when update notes are added by date at the bottom of the list, they are automatically sorted (moved) to the top of the list so the latest update is shown first. I am pretty clueless when it comes to macros although I have given it some attempts after reading other posts without success. I am including a copy of the spreadsheet. The info that I need sorted starts at B43:E43 and goes to B104:E104. That same sort info would then be used for the similar info to the right of this one. For example everything on the line B43:E43 would move together.

For some reason I have a worksheet that won't sort stuff by Autofilter any more. I built it as a customer database but for some reason today I just can't get the names to ascend or descend. there is something simple I can check for, I can post an empety sheet if needed but right now I can't really post a list of all my customers info.

I love to play the greyhounds but to manually sort 18 columns a race with 15 races each night takes a while there has to be a easier way.

View 5 Replies View RelatedAs you can see from the attached spreadsheet. I have a page called Pattern Etch where we enter the data for all the processing done in a single machine.
Each device type is slightly different, and therefore has a different calculation fasctor for its etch time. This all weorks fine. What I had previously was another spreadsheet with the pages b and g in it. This is where the factors are calculated and updated from.
I'd like to make this update automatic, and suspect the easiest way is to combine the two spreadsheets, as in the attached version. Can the sorting of the data from the patternetch page to the apprpriate pages, b and g be done automatically? If so can it be done for many pages as I have cut down the spreadsheet, I actually have 50 variants, each will need its own page (as for b and g).

I have created a spreadsheet using columns A to G with row one as the following headings Surname, Middle Name, First Name, Alias, Offences, Temp# and CRO#.
The thing is I tried writing a VBA code to let the Surname(column A) automatically sort in ascending order but it doesn't work.

I have the below small code which auto sorts information in column A & B but I am having trouble trying to get it to sort from row 3 and not sort the first 2 rows. The first row is the column header the second row I want left blank and then sort after that.
Plus at the moment after I enter something into column A it auto sorts itself but what I would really like to do is have it commence the auto sort after I have entered information in column B and pressed "enter". Because at the moment I enter info in column A then it auto sorts itself then I must then find it and then enter the info into column B.
