COUNTIF Doesn't Like HOUR Function Inside Of It

Jun 24, 2014

The first three formulas give valid results but the fourth example throws in an error after hitting Enter. As you can see I put in the HOUR function. As far as my knowledge goes the HOUR function generates an integer.

So why does C4 not work? Formulas go in column C

A
B
C

22
20

=COUNTIF(A1,">"&B1)

CountIf Inside Of VBA?

Dec 16, 2011

I have a userform that updates col's A thru E. (undetermined amount of rows)

I need to sum col's B thru E individually.

It would always be summing from row 3 of col B thru E.

I have the code that finds or selects the last cell of each col.

I'm not sure how to put the "countif" function code into VBA.

Example would be col B would be populated with the letter "A".

I would need to count how many "A's" in column B.

Using COUNTIF To Determine # Of Employees Working Each Hour

Oct 1, 2009

I'm using Excel to schedule employees shifts at my restaurant. Column A is their name, Column B is their start time, Column C is their end time. I'd like to be able to count the number of employees working during any given hour of the day to assure I've got enough staffing each hour. I'm thinking it will require a COUNTIF function but I can't figure out how to make it work. I've attached a sample sheet.

Countif Using Indirect With Concatenate Inside?

Oct 4, 2011

I have this formula in a cell which gives me a #REF error:

=COUNTIF(INDIRECT(CONCATENATE("'Working area'!",ADDRESS(6,13),":","'Working area'!",ADDRESS(6,742))),"N")

The concatenated text string calculates to

'Working area'!M6:ABN6

In that range I would like to count the occurrences of the letter N.

(I have simplified the ADDRESS function to ADDRESS(6,13). In my real spreadsheet, the number 6 is obtained by some more function-combinations.)

Excel 2011 :: Using OFFSET And COUNTIF Inside Data Validation?

Oct 1, 2012

I have a from that work great in PC but if opened in a MAC, some of the functions will not work.

For example, There is one cell with Data validation that based on the value selected in another data validation cell, it should only display all possible options pertaining to value chosen. These are the values: a user select a customer based on customer name. The Data validation will the put the customer number in cell AF3. In another call with Data Validation I have this formula:

"=OFFSET(SHIPTO,MATCH(AF3,SHIPTOColumn,0)-1,2,COUNTIF(SHIPTOColumn,AF3),1)"
SHIPTO is the Name range for the tabs called SHIPTO with "Shipto!$A$1"
SHIPTOColumn is the Name Range for "SHIPTO!$A:$A"
Column A is where the customer numbers are.

This work fine in a PC but not in the MAC using excel 2011

Conditional Formatting: OFFSET Function To Define A Range Inside A SUM Function

In Mr Excel's Pod Cast on April 12th, he showed how to use the OFFSET function to define a range inside a SUM function. Then he had Conditional Formatting that would highlight the range that was being summed. Can anyone tell me what the formula would be inside the Conditional Formatting dialog box to get the OFFSET range to have a certain format?

Excel 2007 :: Countif Doesn't Recognize Some Cells

May 13, 2014

Excel 2007
Windows 8

For this project i need to analyze clusters of data. My first step is to remove all none duplicates.

I have created this formula =COUNTIF(N:N,N1)=1, this goes all the way down to =COUNTIF(N:N,N5443)=1. My plan is to remove all rows that return a "True" to delete all non-duplicates.

I'm noticing, although 90% is recognized correctly, 10% is not. Some formulas return as true, when clearly there are duplicate values. The N Column is trimmed, to correct for spaces.

What the pitfalls with countif formulas usually are in this situation?

N Column
O Column

=COUNTIF(N:N,N5441)=1
Returns False
Trim(05441)

24 Hour Countdown Function

I love the function above because it counts in reference to a value. I would like something like this function but I want it to countdown 24 hours and not 30 days from today.

Dim psLocal As String
psDay = Day(Now)
Location = (Range(cell).Formula = "=StacServer|" & name & "!'" & (num + psDay) & "'")

Function Works In VBA But Does Not Work Inside Worksheets

Jun 21, 2008

i have written a code in VBA to interpolate the value of Y0 corresponding to X0 using a set of (X,Y) points. (I have written this in module1) . This function works when i call it through a Sub or another Function in VBA. but it does not work when I try to use it as a function in my excel worksheets (when I type : =interpolate(A1:A10,B1:B10,30) .... 30 is an arbitrary value). in this case I get #value! error

The function is known in within the worksheets because when I start typing its name, the Auto Name Complete feature of excel, finds this function.

I am new to VAB for excel. Please give me a hint to see my mistakes of if something is missing inside my code.

Populate A Cell Once; Using TODAY() Inside Function.

Sep 23, 2009

I'm starting a project where Excel will be used as the main UI for defining a table of data. I'm expecting to define a "template" - xlt i guess - that users can open and save as an xls, without over-writing the template. Users will populate the spreadsheet with a lot of help from user defined functions. I'm just getting started and would like to populate a particular cell with the current date, but only the first time the sheet is opened. I tried checking whether a cell was empty before assigning a value to it, of course this meant recursion!

Also: It might be nice to use the Today() function inside a UDF, but TODAY isn't a member of Application.WorksheetFunction - is there no way to reference TODAY() from within a UDF?

'C:Documents...' Inside Worksheet Function Call

Jan 25, 2008

I have a spreadsheet that uses a function defined in VBA code that is housed in an add-in which is stored in the default location (C:Documents And Settings{user_name}Application DataMicrosoftAdd-Ins). To share this spreadsheet, I first install the add-in on the other person's computer. Then, when the other person opens the spreadsheet, the function doesn't work because the function call on the worksheet contains the whole path of the add-in (and the path contains my {user_name} rather than the other person's). So, the immediate solution is to just delete the path of the add-in from the function call (so that only the name of the function remains, plus the arguments of course). But this is quite inconvenient given the number of times the function appears in the worksheet, and it's not practical as we continue to share files like this.

My question is: is there a way to make sure that the 'C:Documents...' never gets added to the function call in the first place? I mean, why doesn't Excel just try to run the function locally before it adds that path that refers to a separate computer? I do realize that there are other methods of sharing VBA code. For example, I know that I could include the code in the specific spreadsheet that I'm trying to share, and this would work. But, that's not the answer I'm looking for (for one, the function refers to a very large amount of data stored in the add-in, and there are other reasons that make the aforementioned method impractical). I'm wondering if I'm missing something, and if there is a way to stop Excel from tacking on the path string to the function call, so that the function would just work on any computer as long as they have the add-in installed?

Changing The Color Of A Cell Inside A Function

Changing Date/time To Run A 12 Hour Production Schedule, And Not 24 Hour

Sep 4, 2006

I have created a daily schedule which has a number of factory variables taken into consideration which determine the date and time a particular product should, barring any mechanical problems, come off the machine. (see attached spreadsheet).

The date at the top will be editable by me only so that when I update the production quantities, the “date/time off” column automatically re-adjusts to the remaining quantities.

The formulas are a little long winded, but I have left them that way whilst I try and develop it. I should be able to figure out how to condense them later.

My problem is that the “date/time off” on the right works excellent, but over a 24 hr period.

Ordinarily, we work a 12 hour day (6am to 6pm) with overlapping shifts to cover breaks, and 20 mins warm up at the start of the day for the machine, thus maximising a 12 hour day.

Of course if demand exceeds the allotted time we put on overtime.

Is it possible to specify that normal days are only 12 hours so that if a product exceeds 6pm, it flows into the next day with the balance starting at 6:20am?

And, if the production for the week exceeds the time could I stipulate particular days which we deem are suitable for overtime? Ie, we decide Wednesday is a 14 hour day and not 12.

I had toyed with the idea of creating a 365 day table/calendar, on another worksheet which would have its individual allocated hours in an adjacent column and somehow link them to the date/time off, perhaps by way of a VLOOKUP, but I have been chasing my tail trying to figure out how to implement it.

Excel 2010 :: Counting Users Per Hour For Each Hour

Oct 21, 2013

I work in a computer lab and we have to keep track of how many people sign in (using excel 2010), and how long they were here.

I'm looking for a way to count how many entries were made per hour for every hour someone was signed in.

For example someone signs in at 9:22 am and leaves at 3:34 pm.They were here from 9-10, 10-11, 11-12 etc.. and its getting very tiresome to go through and manually enter a "1" for each individual hour in each cell under the hour.

Is there a way I can feed the in and out times into a spreadsheet and have it automatically count how many people were in the lab each hour?

Match Function Doesn't Find Values

Feb 5, 2009

I've been using a Index and Match Functions to locate values,

What I'm trying to do is as follows:

Column A contains x values and Column B contains another value

A length is entered at the top of the worksheet, when the x value is greater than half the length the values will be mirrored about the centre point.

To do this i'm doing x-(length/2) to give the corresponding value of x on the other side of the length

I can do the If functions etc to sort all this out, but the match function isnt working, see attached, it isn't finding values which are in the list, when i use 0 for exact match, i've tried using 1 but it still isn't finding the correct values.
