Can I get a simple ONE LINE formula to calculate the below combination
Basic Cost = 100 (A) (my Material cost)
ADD : 10% for Freight (B)
A+B = C
ADD : 10 % for Overheads on 110 (On C) = D
C+D = E
ADD : 15% towards Margin on 121 (on E) = F
E+F = G
WHERE G = 139.15
I require this because my %s varies according to products.
I am analysing data to determine buy or sell transaction signals. The problem is that the method can and does produce frequent signals that are merely confirmation rather than new information.
Therefore, I need to select a signal, eg a "buy" signal where the previous transaction signal was the opposite, eg a "sell" signal.
In the attached sheet N10 is a valid signal as the previous signal was a "sell" signal. However, N14 is not valid as the previous signal was also a "buy" signal.
Currently, I am using a simple formulae to determine the signals, e.g. =IF(J26>0,J26,0). Hoevever, I need to modify this by looking back to confirm that a value >0 occurred first in column K rather than column J. If the value >0 occurred first in column J then I need to ignore the buy signal.
I am not sure if the formulae can be modified or if a macro is needed.
I have a cell (F2) that is auto updated with total sales units for today (Its a simple counter of individual sales). I want to detect when there is a "batch" of sales >= 10. ie. F2 may start at zero for the day and increment by 1,2,5 or 10 units at a time. If the increment is 10 units or more I would like to detect this and store the result in cell G4.
Typical values in C2: 0, 1, 6, 7, 9, 19, 21, 22 etc as new orders arrive. The larger order between 9-19 (viz 10 or more), I need to detect and store in G4. I know that I need to use both the current value of F2 (say 19) and the previous value of F2 (say 9) to perform this, but the solution eludes me.
I am experimenting with sparklines and wanted to know if there is a way that I can lookup the last 12 results of a particular field and return a sparkline for that.
For example, on my report tab I have a list of names in column A and in my data tab, I have a list of the same names with a different value in each column (each month).
I want to have a sparkline beside each persons name in my report tab which will lookup the last 12 months of data for that person and display it in a sparkline.

Cell A5 contains last traded volume which updates whenever a trade is done.
I would like to SUM/ADD all last trade volume in cell C5. Is there any function or macro can help me to do this?
I enter data in Cells starting at C3:O13 I enter 4 digit numbers 1131, 1212, 1122, 1215, 1201, 1207, 1133 etc. etc.
Here is my rule: I cannot have more than 8 numbers in the 1200 series in ROW 3 So I need conditional formatting to come up with a yellow background if I have 8 numbers in the 1200 series.
Example:
C3, C4, C5 etc.etc. 1131, 1212, 1122, 1215, 1201, 1207, 1214, 1233, 1122, 1230, 1216, 1122
1216 would highlight because it was the 8th cell in that row that contains a number in the 1200 series.
Need a T/F formula that will return T if any 2 of the 3 values from previous row are double digits and the third digit is also from previous row. The 3 digits in the same row must have a zero.

I am wanting to configure approx 100 drop down boxes to all point to the same range of data, approx 40 names, but once the name has been selected, none of the other drop down boxes will be able to select that name.
eg.

select Dave in drop down box in cell B5. Next cell, B7, I want a drop down box without Dave in it.
If i then change my mind, and select Steve in cell B5, it will automatically adjust cell B7 to allow Dave as he is now no longer selected in cell B5.
I'm creating an excel document that tracks the amount of time someone has (in months) in the program. Certain residents are able to 'fast track' if they meet conditions, and I am trying to create this spreadsheet so that anyone who looks at it can tell who qualifies (and when).
The issue I'm having is with conditional formatting, because I don't know how to do it with mutliple conditions.
Column C is their previous time (months) in the program
Column D is their current time (months) in the program
Column E is their total time in the program (Sum C+D)
Coumn E is what I would like to format, based on the following rules set out in the program manual:
If previous time is 9 months or more, a resident is eligible to fast track after 6 months current time (format green).
If previous time is less than 6 months, a resident is eligible to fast track after 9 months current time (format green).
I understand that their is an odd gap - but these are the rules currently set out by the program manual, which is what I have to follow.
I'm using Excel 2007 - if that changes anything.

I'm trying to work out to most efficient way of making a quality monitoring system which uses traffic lights to show problem products.
The traffic light system need to obey the following "rules".
Each product is tested once daily When a product fails once it moves to Amber, When a product Fails twice in a row it moves to RedOne pass when a product is in Amber Status, will reset it to green.If a Product is in Red status, it much have 3 consecutive passes to reset to Green.
I have tried to use array formulae to look up a column for previous values in the past for this sort of thing, but with 100000+ rows it runs far too slowly.

i want to divide an entire column by a number and store the result in other column,. generaly we can do this for a single cell by writing the below code in the next cell (for example) =Q1/60
however my sheet contain about 1700 entries and it is very difficult to write the formula for so many entries. requirement:

I have added Col E manually to demonstrate the output I am looking for.
I am no expert but I think that this would be something like a nested loop, but the number of nested loops can't be determined before hand ??
I have written out what I think I need to do, but don't really know how to code it :
i. For each Pipe_ID (Col A) get U/S Node ID (Col B) and add to "selection".
ii. For each U/S Node ID (Col B), find all matching U/S Node ID (Col C), and add to selection and get the U/S Node ID (Col B) for those.
iii. Populate Col E with sum of Col D for "selection".
iv. Repeat Until U/S Node ID (Col B) can't be found in U/S Node ID (Col C).
How to get the table to align correctly.
I have a list where i enter invoice values lets say on column (A:A)
and i want to calculate all the invoice values each time i enter the values on A:A

I have been using Excel for a while but i'm kinda stuck at one point where i have to calculate the sum of the numbers corresponding to the month of the data.
Column 1 has all the dates in different months - in this workbook i've included only jan, feb and mar. The second column has the counts corresponding to the dates.
Now if a user inputs the month (1,2,3) number in F2, then we need to compute the sum of all the numbers from second column corresponding to the month in column 1 and display in cell F4.

I need to "total" column to automatically display the sum of the values for the categories A, B and C. Is there a formula I can use for this?
In the chart I attached there are 20 columns and 7 rows. The calculations are as follows: K in first period - 8 (given). product per worker (y) - 2*K^(1/3) = 4. Total invesment - s*y - s (savings rate) is given as 0.1 and y was calculated in the previous line. s*y = 0.1*4 = 0.4
Depreciation on capital - deperciation rate is set at 2.5% (0.0025) so the depreciation is 0.0025*k = 0.0025*8 = 0.2. Net investment = Total investment (0.4) -Depreciation (0.2) = 0.2. Consumption per worker = product per worker (4) - Net investment (0.4) = 3.6
Growtn in product per worker - Can only start calculating from next period. It is (yt-yt-1)/yt-1. (Next year's product per worker minus this year's product per worker, the answer is divided by last year's product per worker).
log linear Regression. The thing is I do not know how to calculate elasticity of logarithmic values, slope, std. error in order to make forecasts. Is there a way solve it with Linest or any other formula. I am attaching a spreadsheet to better see.

The cells have drop down lists of words only.
I need the Summary cells to show the result of calculation of the average for each row and column.
I am making a summery table of lots of soil contaminant data.
In my summery table, for each determinand I want the average value automatically taken from data from a number of other tables within this same spreadsheet.
For example, for pH- I would average the pH value found in each table, from cell D6, G24 and AB9.
The problem:
Out of the three tables where I take each pH value from, on occasions only one will have a value- the other two will be "0".
How do I ensure that, when averages are taken, it will always ignore '0' values?
I have a list of group ID codes, which contain 1 or more product codes within them.
Some product codes contain an "alternative" value (the actual value is irrelevant) and others do not. See example below

Ultimately what I need to achieve is a percentage of how many product codes, within each group ID, contain an alternative.
So for the example above, group ID 56381 would have 50% codes with alternatives.
By counting the occurrences of a group ID and whether 1 particular code has an alternative I have calculated individual percentages against the size of the group e.g. product code 240027 (given a value of 1) divided by the total number of codes in the group (4), returns 0.25. Obviously doing this across the whole group would give my result (0.5 or 50%)
However some groups contain over 100 codes and the spreadsheet is 40K rows!
I have several listboxes in userform. They are named like this:

Workx listbox contains text, others contain numbers. Now I need Pricex listboxes to contain the value of this calculation: Salaryx * Workforcex * Hoursx (For example Price17 listbox value would be Salary17 * Workforce17 * Hours17)
However, if Workforcex listbox is empty, then Pricex listboxes should contain the value of this calculation: Salaryx * Hoursx Then again, if user wants to skip entering Salaryx, Workforcex and Hoursx, I want to allow entering value straight to Pricex listbox. Then Salaryx, Workforcex and Hoursx listboxes should be enabled.
On the other hand if there already are values in Salaryx, Workforcex or Hoursx listboxes, then the Pricex listbox should be not enabled. I need the values of these calculations to be inserted in Pricex listbox right after there are enough inputs without pressing any button etc. (For example if there are values in Workx, Salaryx and Hoursx inboxes, the calculation should be entered to Pricex listbox immediatelly.
I need to calculate a subtotal like value on the last row of a filtered region.
e.g.

How to put a value on the last row of filtered column. let's say that above list is very little in comparison with the real list. so, let's say that i look up for name36, witch begins on row (36*5) -> 5 is the values of the year column; after autofilter with "name1" the very left column with row index become blue and show rows from 1 to 5, than, next row is the last non-empty row.
Situation: I need to calculate a lot of averages of non-connected values. That is, they are separated by several rows (which also contain values). So far, I use the code-sample below (just to illustrate), which is not really elegant. Unfortunately, it seems that this technique comes to its limits when a high number of different non-connected values are combined into one string and get assigned to a formula- range (last line of code), which is where the program stops.
My question is: Is there a nice way to solve this? A way, which is not limited by the amount of data processed? The only way I could think of, would include a UDF, where a sum, sums all values up and then devides by the number of added sums ... but this would be relatively slow, and I have an awful lot of values to be averaged (100 sets * 6 rows * 200 values = 120.000 calculation- steps), as well as STDEV and a Standard Error of Mean (SEM) to calculate. Is there a better alternative?

There have always been those who say that you can't have a standard deviation of two numbers, but now someone has said that a mean of two numbers is meaningless (no pun intended). What is the current thinking on this? Of course, mathematically speaking, you can certainly calculate these values with only two numbers, but is a mean of two numbers not considered a valid measurement? How about a standard deviation?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI currently have in my equation the trend function to linear extrapolate the date a line would cross either my upper or lower limits (100.1 and 19.9) between 2 data points. However if the 2 data points span both the upper and lower limits (as per the 2 attached examples) then unfortunately the trend function is only able to return the 1 date (where I've specified the x value). Is there any way for the TREND function to trend the 2 values? Do I simply add the 2nd x value to the new x's?
