Calculating Average Number Of Staff Per Week
Aug 4, 2014I want a formula to calculate the average number of staff working per week in the attached data.

View 9 RepliesWe have a fiscal calendar which starts Oct 1. I would like to display the proper week numbers. I worked out a formula which seems to work (except for week 53) but it would be better if I didn't have to rely on other users having the Analysis Toolpak installed. My date is located in '3930!I4' and this is the formula that works with the toolpak: ...
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am putting together a simple table to display current week's data vs previous weeks. The current week's data is drawn from a status chart which changes frequently. The constant change is fine for 'Current' as I only want the current data displayed.
The problem I am having is calculating the number of late jobs that existed during the previous week.
The status log has a due date which is compared to the current date to determine 'on time' status for the current week.
Due dates are reissued regularly so I can't use
=COUNTIF(RANGE,WEEKNUM(NOW()-1)) to return data about last week from my status chart.
I have available a 'Movement Log' (in the workbook but a separate worksheet) which tracks the changes in the due date field, but I'm not sure how to integrate that data to calculate the # of jobs that were running late from the last week.
My thought is that I need to perform a count of the # of late based on a comparison of 'due date' to 'date of the last day of last week' with a way to insert the "old due date" from the movement log to replace what is shown in the status log if necessary.

I would like to calculate staff meal deductions for each employee based on the number of hours they worked for that day.
I have the hours listed all on one page, per day, per employee.
I have the staff meal deductions range listed on another page in the workbook.
The range is as follows: *Please note anyone working over 8.00 hours is deducted a maximum of $2.40 for that shift/day.
Hours

Column A has the date.
Alternating columns from B (B..D..F.. etc) hold a drop down with the staff names
Alternating columns from C (C..E..G.. etc) hold a drop down with either pass or fail as the result.
What I need to do is count the number of times a particular staff name appears, but more importantly how many times they pass or fail.
I can easily count the names, but how do I count if they have pass or failed?
I have data showing when staff arrive at, enter after clearing security and then exit a building after completing their task. The data for each cell is a combined date and time as opposed to separate cells for date and time.
I am trying to ascertain how long our security staff take to clear persons waiting to enter the building and also how many people at any one time are actually in the building (after being processed through security).
I also need to ascertain if particular issues arise at certain days of the week (eg Mon morning) and so need to add a further column which shows the day of week using the date/time data.
A sample of the data is as follows;
Staff No:
Arrival time
Processed time
Exit time
1
26/02/2013 07:13
26/02/2013 07:22
26/02/2013 13:52
[Code] ........
I had thought about trying to display the data using a a stacked bar chart but I still need to look at any particular date/time and ascertain how many persons are in the building without manually counting the rows!
I have a running time sheet daily. It has 2 columns for Labor and 2 columns for travel
i.e. travel From / To 1300-1400 calculate 1 hour then travel home 1600-1700 1 hour this is calculated by the date entry 01/02/10 I have another calculation that tracks by the date i.e. 01/02/10 then Next job which all works fine.
The problem becomes how do I calculate a weekly total labor and travel by the date So added another column called weekly hour’s labor and use the Weeknum to determine which week is which day/date so the first Monday in January 2010 is week 2
2 problems
Having many multiple day / date entries are the same date x 7 days Monday –Sunday
(Relies on the date entered and the weeknum) 01/03/10 each line is complete however the dates carry over as does the time
When trying to calculate each row x 3 same date time then the value will be incorrect I need to calculate
Say 9.5 hour labor from the date 01/03/10 not 28.5 hours and then calculate the total weekly hours
01/03/10, 9.5 hours labor, 3 hours travel
01/03/10, 9.5 hours labor, 3 hours travel
01/03/10, 9.5 hours labor, 3 hours travel
i do have work and travel times for each job on the same line (separate columns) but I display the total here by date to summarize the totals
i have tried sum products and sumif to avail. I am using Windows XP SP2 with MS Office 2007
how do i calculate weekly hours by date and weeknum ?
Total Work per day
Total Travel per day

I am trying to create a formula that returns the date on the friday (ie last working day) of whatever week I am currently in. So, for example, I guess I would use the 'TODAY' or 'NOW' function somewhere to determine the present date - but how do I then determine the date on the Friday of the current week?

I have attached an example of the spreadsheet. I have a formula in the table now that was calculating just the injury type per week but just need to add the function to read per shift but can't seem to get it to read correctly.
I have a spreadsheet where column a = date, b = weekday and c= total calls. I have this array formula to get the true average for the entire month. {=average(if(isnumber(c4:c34),c4:c34))}
The question is can I do something similar to get a true average adding in the day of the week?
What I need is the average amount of calls per weekday.
I require a function that calculates the average amount for each day of the week for a range of dates.
I'm a little new at this and I though that something like this would work but it doesn't. The TEXT function doesn't accept a range so I don't know...
=AVERAGEIF(,TEXT(,"dd")="01",)
I have following data
Column A Name of the company
Column B Date
Column C Day
Column D Week of the Year
Column E High Price
Column F Low Price
My requirement is I need the average high price for the first three days of the week i.e Mon, Tue, Wed in Column I and average Low Price for the remaining days is Thu, Fri, Sat , Sun in Column J.
If in some case any day is missing then average high / Low price for the next two days is to be calculated.

I made a sheet were i record my gas and water meter numbers.
I try to do i everyday but sometimes i forget.
I want the average consumption per week so it's no problem when i don't forget one day.
In column A is the date, column B has the meter figures, column C has the consumption for that day (this day - yesterday).
I want the weekly average so i can make a graph of it.
How can i calculate a weekly average even when i miss a couple of days?
I have a column where I am convering the Date into a Fiscal week number.
For example 10/6/2009 is Work week 41
Now I want to show October Week 41
I need to add the month and the text "Week" before the week number. what is the formula I use.
Different items and their respective amounts are entered in the table attached. I neeed a formula to work out the average per week of each item as shown.

I need to know how the values in each row are distributed, and I ideally plot a 2D column graph of the distribution. Is there a way to do that and create/program a macro (with relative button on the workboook) that does it automatically once clicked?
Very often there are outlying values (bigger or smaller by a factor of 1000 or even more), mistakes, which I would like to identify and fix possibly
What could be the syntax (in a code) for averaging a range in col C. the range values are given in E3 and E5. (E3=508 & E5=1200) These values changes each time I open the workbook.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a spreadsheet that we are using as a Skills Matrix for the team. The area that the team member deals with is listed in Row 3. The scores for each person are recorded in Columns D to M. The process steps being scored against are in Rows 8 to 38, and are seperated by the area of responsibility.
I am trying to work out the average scores of each person depending on their area of responsibility. I can work out the totals easily enough using:
=IF(ISNUMBER(FIND("CM",D3)),SUM(D11,D12,D13,D14,D18,D19,D20,D23,D24,D25,D26,D27,D28,D29,D30),0)
+IF(ISNUMBER(FIND("V",D3)),SUM(D33,D34,D35,D38),0)
But if I use the same for the average scores is works fine until a person covers two duties:
=IF(ISNUMBER(FIND("CM",D3)),AVERAGE(D8:D10,D12:D17,D19:D22,D24:D30),0)
+IF(ISNUMBER(FIND("V",D3)),AVERAGE(D31:D32,D34:D37),0)
This is becuase it adds the 2 averages instead of working out the total average score. Is there an easy way around this?
i.e. For team members who have CM in Row 3 I need an average of certain cells, for team members who have V in Row 3 I need a different average and for those team members with both CM and V I need an overall average.
I have a database with monthly tabs and a summary sheet, on the summary sheet I calculate an average length of stay for each month (tab) but I need to find the yearly average and I don't know if there is a formula that would calculate the true average by using the monthly averages.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a set of % score values (e.g. 88%, 94%, 82%, 67%)
I would like to know if there is a relatively simple formula that can be used to calculate the AVERAGE DEVIATION from 100%, as opposed to the AVERAGE DEVIATION from the mean, which is what the excel function =AVEDEV will return.
E.g. The Average Deviation from the mean for the the above set of values is 8.25%, whereas the Average Deviation from 100% is 17.25%
I can create a complex manual formula which sums absolute values of the variation from 100% of each score, and then divides by the count total of the number of scores, however this is flawed for several reasons, including the fact it is very time consuming when used across a large set of scores, and it is corrupted when a non score exists in a cell (some of the 'scores' may be '-', in which case they should be ignored and not included in the calculation of the average deviation from 100% by treating as a 0% score (and a deviation of 100% from 100%).
I have a data set that looks something like the following:
TypeAmountCost
A100$50
A200$40
A300$35
B250$40
B275$55
B500$60
A700$20
B350$25
B450$35
C400$80
C400$60
I am having trouble creating a formula that would calculate the weighted average cost depending on the type (i.e. weighted average cost of $28.84 for A, weighted avg cost of $70 for C).
I am trying to calculate the average Talk Time into Minutes and Seconds. Every time I have tried, I get the wrong average.
For example, if I have a total of 53 calls and the total talk time is 4:19:05, what would the average talk per call be? I tried doing everything in seconds (this would give me a total of 15545 seconds) but the total I was getting is 4:89.
What would the formula be to get the correct average time?
I have a series of numbers in the column AB56 going downwards and in AC56 going downwards their respective counts in a data-set.
What I would like to do is find the average of the min and max, the min and max for the average calculation are both determined by looking at the count column, isolating the max, isolating the min, provided they both have a count greater than zero then averaging both results.
eg.
0.1562818960
0.1558039690
0.1553260431
0.1548481172
0.15437019 2
0.1538922643
0.1534143384
0.1529364124
[code].....
In this calculation the MAX is 0.155326043 because it has a count greater than zero, the MIN would be 0.138120697 as it has a count greater than zero, the average of both would simply be 0.1467. i.e. Average(0.155326043,0.138120697)
I am trying to find a way to average all the numbers placed in one cell with the answer in another.
So in cell A1
1, 2, 3, 2 or 1-2-3-2
In cell A2 would be 2. But the amount of numbers in A1 will vary from time to time.
