Case In VBA: Code Tests A Value In Column
Oct 12, 2008
I have a rather frustrating issue that dates a few months back, so I hope to solve it today. The following code tests a value in Column A. If the value is between 1-5 or equal to 11, column B will return the string A. It works.

I'm trying to write a simple VBA code to loop through values in the range A14:A138 and based on the value (of a possible four values) in any row of that range, populate the adjacent column in the same row with a conditional result. For example if A14 = "Cat", then B14 = "I"; if instead A14 = "Dog", B14 = "II", etc. If there is no value in column A, the result should be blank (i.e. "").
I believe are in coding the destination range since I can get it to work for just one cell in B! Below is my code that is not working...

I have found the code below that is very good and changes the case size to Upper, Proper or Lower. The problem is that when I select a cell, range of cells, column or row it changes the entire sheet instead of the selected range.
Code:
Sub CaseSize()
Dim myCase, rng As Range, r As Range
myCase = Application.InputBox("Enter" & vbLf & "1 for Upper Case" & vbLf & _
"2 for Lower Case" & vbLf & "3 for Proper Case", Type:=1)
If (myCase = False) + (Not myCase Like "[1-3]") Then Exit Sub
On Error Resume Next
[code]....

I am adding shapes with text (msoShapeOval) to an image on a worksheet but I cant get the size of the "ShapeRange" to work dependant on the value assigned to "sTxtlen".
I had msgbox's within each Case but none were triggered allthough using another msgbox to show the length of sTxtLen is correct prior to the Select Case.

I've selected a case statement (see below) but I want to that code to work automatically. So i do not want to press a button to show a certain value in S2. But I want cell c2 to automatically pop up the value (depending of the value in V4). So kind like an if/then statement.
Sub CASEMEDEWERKER()
Select Case Range("F4").Value
Case "Medewerker"
Range("S2") = "M"
Case "Interview"
Range("S2") = "I"
Case "Data"
Range("S2") = "D"
Case "Observatie"
Range("S2") = "O"
End Select
End Sub

I have a combo box that is used very simply to select a column from sheet and copy that whole column down to where text ends into a specific column in another sheet. I.e whatever column is selected ends up in column B of this other sheet. At the moment I've been using If functions for each case but there must be a more efficient way of doing this; here is just a sample of my
If textseries1.Text = "Fund01" Then
With Sheets("data")
Range("C1:C" & Cells(Rows.Count, 1).End(xlUp).Row).Copy
End With
Sheets("calculations").Range("B1").PasteSpecial
End If
If textseries1.Text = "Fund02" Then
With Sheets("data")
Range("D1:D" & Cells(Rows.Count, 1).End(xlUp).Row).Copy
End With
Sheets("calculations").Range("B1").PasteSpecial
End If
If textseries1.Text = "Fund03" Then
With Sheets("data")
Range("E1:E" & Cells(Rows.Count, 1).End(xlUp).Row).Copy
End With
Sheets("calculations").Range("B1").PasteSpecial
End If
There are about 75 columns in total but thought it would be a little repetitive to put it all up here!

I am working on a homework assignment, the books method was crap so I did my own method. I am almost done except for 1 last thing. I cannot find any function that will allow for 3 logical tests. I have a screen shot here explaining what I need to happen.

I'm trying to format a worksheet to show a one year due date with an alert 30 days out so that I can complete the task before the date due. I am using this for a preventative maintenance sheet for respiratory protection equipment that needs to be serviced annually. For instance; if I service a mask today the next service will be in one year. I'd like it to alert me 30 days out. If I could get that alert through outlook that would be fantastic.

Basically, I'm trying to calculate a pooled z-score from z-scores already stored in different cells.
Each individual z-score are calculated like this :
D1=IF(A1=999,999,((A1-10)/3)).
They are derived from standard scores with a mean of 10 and a SD of 3. I use 999 to mark missing values and this work flawlessly for single z-score cells.That way, if A1 is a missing value (999), Excel returns a value of 999.
Now here's my problem. How do I tell Excel to ignore 999 values if I am pooling multiple z-scores together?
Let's say A1, B1 and C1 are single z-scores. I want D1 to be the pooled z-score result, but I want it to ignore A1,B1 and/or C1 if their value is 999. For instance, if A1=+2.0 , B1 = 999 and C1= -1.50, I want my D1 cell to ignore B1 in the calculation.
I've tried : D1=IF(A1,B1,C1=999,999,(LC5+LI5+IK5)/3)) but it sure doesn't work...

I have a form in which a user pastes test names into a certain column of a spreadsheet. I have a listbox (not an ActiveX control) where I want the tests to be displayed. I want to resize the listbox depending on the number of tests pasted in-depending on where the last row is in this column of test names. Is there a way to do this automatically when the user pastes a new test set in the spreadsheet?

I have a set of data in two columns, i.e. 1) dates and 2) names. Now I would like to post in the third column the name "x" if there is more than 2 years (or 730 days) between the current and the previus observation for name "x".
More specifically:
I would like the code/ function to always include the first "new" name then: 1) check whether subsequent names are equal, if equal; 2) check whether the difference between each obervation and the first "same" name is more than 730 days. The code should also always consider every observation with more than a 730 days difference as a "new beginning" for that specific name.
I have tried to use IF and OR functions but the function becomes too long and it does not quite solve the whole problem. Problems with my function occurs when the names change in column two. That is, my function is not able to distinguish between dates that belong to the same name and dates that belong to different names, when performing the second logical test.
I have attached a short example of my data. The problem is solved manually in the example file, just to give a better picture of what I am actually trying to do (I have a few thousand rows in my real file).

Formula that counts the number of people who are on my course and are taking their tests.
I have 5 classes, Class1, Class2, Class3, Class4 & Class5.
Column A details which class the pupil is in.
Column B details the pupils name.
Column C details the state of the course. This is either a DATE which they started, or "Paid" (they have paid for the course but not started), "Not Paid" (havent paid for course and havent started) or "In Progress" (Payment is in the process of being arranged).
Column D details the state of their final exam. This is either a DATE as to which they have finished and passed the exam, "Not Taken Yet" (Havent taken the exam yet) or "Fail" (They failed the exam).
This is where I am having problems, at the top of my sheet I want to summarise each classes statistics, but I am having problems with the COUNTIF. For example:
What formula can I use to add up the number of people in each class who have started the course?
E.g.
=countif(C10:C100," Is a Date ? ") AND is in Class1 ?
What forumla can I use to add up the number of people in each class who haven't passed the test ?
E.g.
=Countif(D10:D100,"Not Taken Yet" & "Failed") AND is in Class2 ?
I know I need an array to work this out.
And finally to really complicate things how about :
People in each CLASS who have STARTED the course (Date in C) AND haven't passed their test (Col D). I understand this is relying on a three part array whereas the others are 2 parts ?

:=xlPart, SearchOrder:=xlByRows, SearchDirection:=xlNext, MatchCase:= _
False, SearchFormat:=False).Row
Rows(SR1 & ":" & tr1).Delete Shift:=xlUp
what I need to know is how to trap the in the event it does not find any in my case the column will only contain 1's or 0's. If there are no 0's then it should skip the line: Rows(SR1 & ":" & tr1).Delete Shift:=xlUp and continue with the line after that (which happens to be return to the macro that start the marcor this code is in)

Dim RowCounter As Integer
Dim ColumnsChecked As Integer

RowCounter = rCell.Row

Case 38
strMessage = "INVOICE NUMBER"

I've got a pretty intense macro already written, a lot of Select Case components. At the end, if nothing matches I'd like to just copy the cell above to the cell below. However, there is a range of about 400 cells in length, so I'd need some sort of wildcard for range.
Rows("2:2").Select
Selection.Insert Shift:=xlDown, CopyOrigin:=xlFormatFromLeftOrAbove
Dim Cell As Variant
For Each Cell In Range("A1:OL1")
Select Case Cell.Value
Case "Eng1"
Cell.Offset(1, 0).Value = "Engine One"
tons more in the middle here
Case Else
Cell.Offset(1, 0).Value = "N/A"
Rather then returning "N/A", how could I reference the cell above and just copy it instead?

Suppose I have some data in a column like below
Blue
Red
Green
green
red
RED
BLUE
I need a macro or excel formula so that it will remove duplicate products- case sensitive(removing all duplicate prod using using excel,that i know.) i.e. it should not consider Blue BLUE as duplicate. only consider Blue Blue as duplicate.
So the macro should work same as data -> remove duplicate function already exists in excel, except it will be case sensitive..

One list is lowercase, while the other list is UPPERCASE.
My current macro needs them to be in the same case because I'm using the following to compare:
If VPNID.Value = BuildHRName Then
How can I change the format of one of the lists to UPPERCASE or lowercase so that I am comparing apples to apples?

I'm trying to write a VBA script which will delete all rows in my Excel spreadsheet where Column I (which contains a status code) does not contain the word "Completed".
At the moment, I'm doing this the other way round: my script is able to search for entries in Column I which contain the status codes "Pending", "Awaiting Authorisation", "In Progress" etc and delete them. The idea is that when all those rows are deleted, I'll only be left with rows which have a status of "Completed". This works fine at the moment. However, the concern is that if a brand new status code is added to the data file, my script would be unable to pick it up and delete it. This is a small sample of the code I'm currently using (which deletes all the rows with statuses other than Completed):

my existing macro, as the run takes to much time to complete. (at least 20min) I've already tried several loops, but no one worked for me. Following situation: There are two excel files, entries in column 73 - 85 will be copied from WorkbookRust to the other workbook if the numer in column 5 is the same. Not every cell within this columns contains data, so the macro should automatically jump to the last entry in each of the above mentioned columns, instead of predefine the range as you see in the code below. After the data is copied to the other workbook, it will be filtered acc. to Sub FilterMain and then copied back to WorkbookRust. As already said, the whole thing works, just to lame.
Sub Allmacros()
Dim WorkbookRust As String
WorkbookRust = ActiveWorkbook.Name
ChDir "C:Documents and Settings vogtMy DocumentsRüstplausch"
Workbooks.Open Filename:= _
"C:Documents and Settings vogtMy DocumentsRüstplauschCH_Revenue_2008.xls"
Sheets("Main_Overview").Select
Windows(WorkbookRust).Activate
Application.run ActiveWorkbook.Name & "!UpdateEntries"
Application.run ActiveWorkbook.Name & "!FilterMain"
'not ask to overwrite existing file
Application.DisplayAlerts = False
Workbooks("CH_Revenue_2008.xls").Save
Workbooks("CH_Revenue_2008.xls").Close
End Sub
Sub UpdateEntries()......................
