Conditional Formatting Turns The Cell Background Green With 03
Aug 27, 2009
In a column in my spreadsheet i have to input a number; either: 51-61 and next to it is either m or o. so in Column A row 1 : 51m, Column A row 2 60m, etc Example:
51m
51o
55o
60m
I want to conditionally format this such that for 51 it turns the cell background green, for 52 red, 53 orange,etc. with a number having a specific color associated with it. 03' does not have a text choice.

Excel 2002
I have a simple spreadsheet and am trying to get some Conditional Formatting to work.
Cell1 = Name
Cell2 = 1
Cell3 = 2
Cell4 = 3
If cells 2, 3, and 4 all match I want the background in cell 1 to change to green.
I've tried (Formula Is =B1=C1=D1 green) with no luck.

I have five columns D3 to H3 all with different amounts/currency value. I'm looking to get a formula or use conditional formatting to scan those five cells and highlight one of them green when Excel has determined which one is the cheapest out of the five.

I've set a conditional format to flag the row green if cell e2 has a Y or a N in the cell.
Currently i have the following conditional format formula is as
=IF($E$2="y",TRUE,FALSE) this is set to change row to green
=IF($E$2="n",TRUE,FALSE) this is set to change row to red
My Questions =
What i want to do is copy this formula through the 500 or so rows and have the formula adust to
=IF($E$3="y",TRUE,FALSE) For row 3
=IF($E$4="y",TRUE,FALSE) for row 4
=IF($E$5="y",TRUE,FALSE) for row 5
Ect.
I've tried using the formate painter but all it does is set all row to conditionally format dependant on what is in Cell E2. Thoughts on how to copy this formula is conditional format so i don't have to manually adjust it line by line. Doing this 500 times over would be a pain.

I have been assigned a task to create one table by counting how many cells are in red, yellow, blue, white colour.
red: indicate the certificate which will expired within one month
Yellow: indicate certificate which will expired within 2 to 3 month
blue: indicate certificate which expired
white (without any colour): indicate certificate that will expired in the future which more than 3 month
The table shall consist of "non-expired cert" - red and yellow; expired cert and total cert.

I have a workbook (see attached) that has 2 sheets, Work and Holiday. I want to be able to enter a persons initials into the wrksheet 'Work' for each day of the week.
If that person is listed on the holiday sheet for that day as 'A' then the cell in 'Work' is coloured Red, if not then it is coloured Green. I have tried to get this to work using a defined list and various IF statements but all to no avail.

I have attached a small file with a very simple conditional formatting formula used to turn a block of cells green.
However, the formula does not seem to work properly as it only turns half of the cells green. Columns B1 to B18 are also supposed to turn green, but instead remain clear.

I have the folowing criteria :
1) If “Completed" , then highlight as green
2) If “Pending” , then highlight as red
3) If “In Progress” , then highlight as blue
4) If “X Required” , then highlight as green
I need to include in the third conditional formatting box that if the cell populates "Completed" or "X Required", then highlight as green. Is there a formula I can use in the conditional formatting box ? I am using Excel 2000.

I need to set up some conditional formatting on my spreadsheet, however I am having a little trouble with one of my conditions. The requirement is:
- if a cell value in column X contains the word "open", format row background to yellow.
- if a cell value in column X contains the word "resolved", format row background to green.
- if a cell value in column X contains the word "moved" OR "closed", format row background to blue.
Now I have manged the first two on my own, using the conditional formatting tool and using the formula "=SEARCH("open",INDIRECT("X"&ROW()))".
However I am stuck on the last one. I tried...
=OR(SEARCH("resolved",INDIRECT("X"&ROW())), SEARCH("closed",INDIRECT("X"&ROW())))
However this doesnt work. I tried looking at adding VB script in but to be honest I am not a VB programmer and cant really spend too much time on this. fix the final conditional format so it run if the cell contains either "resolved" or "closed"?

I'm trying to set a conditional formatting to do the following:
If A1 is greater than 1, A2 will change its background colour to green. So the format needs to be in A2.
Basically in A1 is a page number that we have reconciled our bank statement to (labelled as "64" or "65" and so on), A2 has the end of statement amount.
Every month end we do a bank rec, the green cell is a marker to show what point we reconciled up to previous month.

I have a spreadsheet where column H can be either yes or no. When column H changes to Yes I want the background of the whole row to change to Red.
e.g. Cell H4 contains the word no. I then change this so that it says "yes". I want the background of row 4 to go red. so A4, b4, c4, d4, e4, h4 all go red.
With the type of conditional formatting i normally do i can only get cell H4 to go Red by putting cell value = yes as the condition. I cant for the life of me think of a formula or way round of doing this.

I have a table with a range A1:C6
If B1 is “hello” I want B1:B6 background to change to green, and text to stay black
But if B3 is “goodbye” I want this to override the above and make B1:B6 background white and text colour of B1:B2 and B4:B6 white (so the text in these cells seems to disappear).

In the attached workbook - the stock Inventory is increased, every second day, by the value shown in cells of column A. Column B displays the date of the update. I'm looking for a Formula (might be an Array Formula) that will return the latest date before the stock turns to be greater than the value in cell D3. I managed to solve it, in cell F3, but with the help column C.

If AI3=C3 & C3 is red, format AI3 blue
If AI3=D3 & D3 is red, format AI3 blue
Otherwise, leave AI3 unformatted.
Possible???

I have a workbook with two worksheets. I added a formula to the first worksheet
= COUNTIF(Scorecard!H3,"K"). It works fine when I add another COUNTIF that references another column (baseball fans may realize I'm counting total strikeouts for a batter): =COUNTIF(Scorecard!H3,"K")+COUNTIF(Scorecard!L3,"K") However, when I try to expand this to cover more columns, =COUNTIF(Scorecard!H3,"K")+COUNTIF(Scorecard!L3,"K")+COUNTIF(Scorecard!P3,"K")
Excel automatically changes the format of this cell to "Text" and it shows the formula as text instead of calculating it. What could be wrong here? Excel's documentation is woefully inadequate for cases like this. Is there an undocumented limit on how many times I can add COUNTIFs together?

I have some code below which looks at values added between a set range of cells. This works OK.
My problem is when i have to change the cell as it removes the background colour already set to certain columns ie Columns I, J, P, Q, W, X, AD, AE (these are coloured a light green).
The other cells in the range have no colour and so the code below works with no problem.

I'm attempting to write a conditional format formula that will change the background color based on multiple color options on in a row. I have cell A:c as first, last and middle name. I utilize the rest 40+ cells that provides dates that are conditionally formatted to based on dates. I've approached this trying to reference the columns dates and cannot figure it out. Heres what I would like to do:
If any cell in from D:Z has a background color of red, yellow, green, and none it will change the background color in cells A:C. Its easy to reference one cell but not multiple. I've attached a sample of what I would like to do and I manually changed to cells A:C to show how I would like to show my results.

I'm attempting to use Conditional Formatting to hide text where the background is shaded. When the background is white, I can just set the text to white and it is invisible - no problem. However, when the background is set to anything else, and I set the text to the same color as the background, Excel LIES to me. It pretends that the text is invisible, but it still shows up in Print Preview and when it's actually printed. The Custom Format ;;; doesn't help me, because I need the invisibilization only under certain funky conditions.

I have two columns. In column B is the date of "last check". I column A is the date of "next check". I would like to have cell A2 in yellow color 334 days after the date entered in cell A3 and than in red color 365 days after the date entered in cell A3. Same thing for cell B2 related to date entered in cell B3. Yellow color in cells announces that check will expire within 30 days and red color that check has been expired.
