Conditional Sum To Match Against Drop Down List

Nov 20, 2008

I am having is that I know that other people will be adding more and more suppliers/brands and types as time goes on.

This presents two problems:

1) I am not in a position to keep making new rules every time a new entry is added to each of these categories.

2) I am trying to add functionality that will allow me to sort them alphabetically - so that the drop down lists continue to make sense. However if this were to happen then the calculations created next to the lists would go out of whack whenever I did an alphabetical sort.

Lookup Drop Down List Value & Return Corresponding Match

Nov 16, 2007

I am trying to create a quotation spreadsheet and want the drop down list to contain the materials but once a selection is made in the drop down list, i want other cells to be accordingly populated with data stored on another worksheet within the workbook.

The source of the drop down list is material and i need other cells to be populated with the adjacent data.

Here is a small list i have at present, which will be much larger when completed.

MATERIAL 20mm 30mm
Absolute Black £62.15£83.30
Absolute Black Premium£71.65£96.10
African Red £58.20£78.00

So if the selection in the drop down list is African Red then it should accordingly populate other cells with the values £58.20 and £78.00. Please help as i have tried many sources elsewhere but without any luck and this would be very benficial.

Conditional Drop Down Lists Based On Another List

Feb 17, 2006

Just wondering if a drop down list can be specific to a selection made in a previous cell. For example in column A the user would select either:

Weekly
Monthly
Other

Then in column B, the drop down list would be conditional upon what was selected in A. So if the user selected 'Weekly' - the drop down list in B would be: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, etc. Or if the user selected 'Monthly' in column A's list, the list in column B would be: 1, 2, 3, ......31.

Drop Down List Which Returns Values Based On What Has Been Selected In The Previous Drop Down List In The Adjacent Cell

Mar 19, 2009

I'm trying to create a drop down list which returns values based on what has been selected in the previous drop down list in the adjacent cell, e.g. if 'Apples' is selected in the previous cell then you should only be able to select from 'Gala, Granny Smith', or if 'Oranges' is selected you should only be able to select 'Seville, Blood Orange'. Is there a formula which would do this, or can I use a pivot table somehow? I'm totally stumped.

Created Validation Drop-down List - Can I Make The Row Now Change To The Colour That Relates To The Selection From The List

Jan 13, 2009

I am trying to create a fairly simple spreadsheet with about 8 columns and about 400 rows. One of the columns features a drop-down list with about 8 or 9 different options. Dependant on which option is selected, i would like the entire row to change colour with that option.

For example:
FAILED - whole row changes red
SUCCESSFUL - row has no fill
Tested - row changes to orange

etc.

Is this possible within Excel 2003?

Drop-Down List: Generate A List Based On The Value Of A Cell

Jan 7, 2009

I am trying to generate a list based on the value of a cell. That list will then be used as the range for a drop-down list. Example: Cell A1 returns a value of 15
A drop-down list displays the values 1 through 15. Cell A1 changes to 20
Drop-down list displays the values 1 through 20. I assume I'll need a two-step macro to accomplish this but I can't figure out the logic to populate the drop-down.

four digit number in A13. So now I need Cells A17:A62 to display the

Conditional Drop-Down For Multiple Lines

Jul 29, 2014

I have a list of car-dealers and licence plate numbers. f.e. data in tab 1 Supplier-Cars.jpg

In another tab (let's call this tab 2) I have to make drop-down lists, depending on the value in this drop-down the cell next to it must give the list of cars from this supplier. f.e. if I select in the first line Supplier 1, I get a drop-down list where I can select Car 1 if I select in the second line Supplier 4, I get a drop-down list where I can select Car 4, 6 or 7 etc. Because of the number of suppliers, I can not work with predefined lists where I put all the suppliers one next to the other...

have a drop-down in each line to go look for the cars depending on the supplier I selected ?

Conditional Drop-Down Menus/Lists

Menu 3 will show certain information based on what was chosen in 2 and 4, again, will only show certain information based on what was chosen in 3. Sort of how the menus on autotrader work, if you chose audi it will only show audi vehicles, although not for the same purpose, or even the same industry. I am using Excel 2007, it might matter. I have attached an xls file that shows the information I am using and below that the basic progression, I haven't listed it all, but you should get the general idea.

Now this is what I need :-

1 ) lets say a user wants to enter Orange (which is not in the list ) he can still do so by entering it manually into the cell.

2) Once Orange is entered which is not in the LIST in sheet 2 then that new name gets added to the LIST in sheet 2 so that next time that name appears in the drop down list automatically. eg Apple, Grape, Mango, Peach, Orange [ but Items should not get duplicated eg Apple, Grape, Apple, Mango, Peach, Apple

Is it possible to select a cell in this column and type in the cell and then Excel help the user. Drop Down List And Formula

Colourboard 18mm
Veneer 18mm
Veneer 19mm
Veneer laid up 40mm
Painted 16mm
Painted 18mm.

When I select one of these items I need CELL A1 to return just the thickness. EG: I hit dropdown list and select Whiteboard, CELL A1 then displays 16mm. Or I select Veneer laid up and it displays 40mm. I would imagine this formula would be quite long as I would have these 8 items in it.

Get Around The DV Drop Down List Limit

Aug 7, 2009

in the attached spreadsheet I have multiple sheets. On the tab "Tech IDS", column A is named "Name" and column B is the tech ID that is associated with the name in column A. Column B is validated as List=Name. Now under the tab "CAL Form" under Column A I need to type the tech's name. Now under the tab "CAL SHEET TEMPLATE" the name that I typed corresponds with a given cell (i.e. B2='CAL Form'!A2). Notice though that I2 does not give a tech id b/c of DV dropdown list meeting its limit. Look at I68, Bob's id appears b/c he fits within the limits. My question is... how can I still use the list with more names or can I modify the formula (=INDEX(ID,MATCH(B68,Name,0))) to include another Match search?
