Count Selected Rows In Sheet (and Use As Input Parameter)
Dec 4, 2009
I have a macro that adds a row with predefined formulas and formating. The macro is launched by clicking on a button. However, I would like to make it possible to add more than one row at a time. My plan to do this was to use the number of selected row as input to the current macro. If the user selects row 1,2,3 and 4 (or 15, 16, 17 and 18, and so on) four new rows should be added. I would just add;
How do I adjust the VB code below so when the user clicks the command button they are prompted to set a limit. i.e the code only runs til it hits the limit and stop (instead of running until it there are no more x in the columns)
Row 2, Col 9 stores the column numbers (listed as 1, 2,.....100) so thought this could be used in some way.
1. how do i set up the code so a user can enter a parameter value e.g 50 (which is the limit but also includes the values in column number "50")
2. how do i adjust the code so it take the parameter value and stop when it reaches column number "51"...
I have a workbook that is pulling data for every hour of the day from an internal website. The macro is built to pull data 24 times (each hour)
ex.(http://url/[""2014/04/01""]/starthour0/endhour1/) (http://url/[""2014/04/01""]/starthour1/endhour2/) (http://url/[""2014/04/01""]/starthour2/endhour3/) and so on.
What I am trying to do is set up a parameter that will reference a certain cell (Master!K5) which will contain the date I need to pull. I want to be able to have that cell referenced automatically and input the date for each URL in the macro.
I'm trying to use Solver to determine an input parameter of the BINOMDIST() formula that provides the exact answer I want. It works for some inputs and outputs but not for all.
For example, I want 4 successes out of 7 trials to yield a 95% answer, meaning I need to itterate on the "P" input in the formula [=BINOMDIST(4,7,"P",TRUE) should result in .95]. Using solver it iterates successfully to .3413.
Now, change 4 to 6, and solver drives "P" to an answer that causes a #NUM result (P= 4.023), however I can manually input 0.6518 and I get the right answer.
I've tried adding constraints that won't let the input go outside the bounds of 0 and 1.0 but it does anyway.
i have a workbook that has a lot of sheets but i need to pull information from the one sheet "Veneer Log" i Need it to make new sheets with the same heading as on the "Veneer Log" (Rows 1 & 2) Sheet but it needs to be filtered by the "Product" Column (H) with a new sheet made for all the diffrent products i.e. Dimensional, Drywall, Corners - Thin V., Accents,..... so each product will have a new sheet with i am hoping someone can help me with this. This log changes Daily and it would be nice to have a sheet with only the same product on it to compare new orders so we can batch run. i hope i have given you enough information so someone can help me with this. i have attached a sample log the real log has about 10 worksheet for diffrent departments but i only need info from the Veneer Log Sheet.
I want to count the nos of cells after selecting some specific parameter in autofilter. I thought this is a simple problem & searched here in various thread but nowhere I found good solution which works nicely. I have attached a excel file where I applied autofilter in the column C & I need to count the nos of cells when I select specific parameter in filter in Column C.
I want to count the number of cells in column C with one forumla that answers the question, "How many of the cells in column C contain the words, APM, BPPM, CAPM, and NMS while exluding any results that have "OUTLOOK" in Column K?
This works fine in detecting and copying the new material number accross to the master data sheet, but now i want it to copy the row in which the new material number is located as there is other information that goes with so it doesn't have to be manually typed in.
Dim MyValue As Variant Dim FromSheet As Worksheet Dim LookupColumn As Integer Dim FromRow As Long Dim FromColumn As Integer '- Dim ToSheet As Worksheet Dim StartRow As Long Dim LastRow As Long Dim ActiveColumn As Integer Dim ReturnColumnNumber Dim ToRow As Long Dim FoundCell As Object

I though I could do this with a nested IF statement but it is too cunfusing for me. What I am trying to accomplish is this:
Experiment Is Steward EU ID Location Data Quality GE Entry Order
[Code] ........
I want to have a screen pop-up asking me what my limit < would be for column "ESTCNT" so if I put in 25 or any other number that it would highlight all the rows that are less than 25, then look at the row above and below and if it matches the same number (that is in the cell "Range" of the highlighted column) in column "Range" then copy that row to a new sheet. Meaning all tha rows that match the "Range" would be in the same new sheet.
The rows might be different lengths and that there will not always be a number in cell "ESTCNT". Column headers will always be the same but might not be in the same column each time. And if it is not to hard once it is completed to find column "SPPLOT" in the new sheet created and asking what I want to autofil the column with.
I have around 150 excel files with sample data as follows in "sheet 1" of each workbook,
Excel doc 1:
ABC1 Column 1Column 221Data 1Data 132Data 2
Excel doc 2:
ABC1
Column 1Column 223Data 3Data 334Data 4
I want the rows with data in column 'B' and empty column 'C' from every sheet to be copied into 1 sheet.
Output to be as,
Final Excel doc:
ABC1
Column 1Column 222Data 2 34Data 4
I have a VBA code sample to select the required files in a folder and run the macro over it. The VBA is as follows,
Sub Importxlsrows() 'Import all selected rows to one sheet Dim xlsDoc As Object Dim xlsFileName As Variant Dim RowNo As Integer 'row number in excel Dim iRow As Long 'row index in Excel
'probably here we need to insert the required logic
End With Set xlsDoc = Nothing End If Next i ShowStatusFree MsgBox "Required rows of selected files are imported into the sheet", vbInformation, "Done!"
i have a certain column that tells me if a client has withdrawn from the company, and the column just says "y" or "n" i want excel to automatically copy the whole row to another sheet if that cell is a "y" for yes the client withdrew...
This spreadsheet must perform calculations for every line since new items are added every day, so VBA is probably better than copying formulas down every line of the spreadsheet:
With the press of a button, I need to be able to select a range of dates and copy all lines within the range to a seperate sheet with the desired name under the same headings they currently reside under. I have included some modified code that is being used in another spreadsheet that was created for me, but I do not pretent to understand all of it and I no longer work with the creator of the spreadsheet. How do I use a button to open the form for date selections and entering the name of the new sheet, and then use the start button on the form to begin the matching and copying to a new sheet? If there is an easier way I am all for that too.
Also, I need to keep a total of all items by month as well as a monthly and annual average of the Total Item Value on the FY09 tab. This will eventually produce another sheet when a button is pressed to submit as a report. I think part of this answer is in using the MONTH(serial_number) function but I can only get this to work for a single cell. I need to search the entire Distribution 'D' column, match all the months to the FY09 tab to the respective month, and calculate the totals and averages. I think SUMIF may also be needed as well but need the MONTH(serial_number)to work first. If there is a way to code all of this in VBA that would be fine as well.
I have a pivot table on Sheet1 where I am trying to get the totals and averages described above but I am not sure it can do what I need. In column 'B' I need the total number of each item as well as the total number of all items. I tried various formats and adding the totals from the Totals tab but I have not figured it out.
However, I need to alter this to work for inserting more than one row at a time. ie. the user selects 'x' number of rows and 'x' rows are inserted below (in the same way 'Insert Row' works in Excel) and the row above the selection is copied down.
From Macro1, I want to pass a reference to a sheet. In Macro 2, I want to select that sheet. Here's what i have so far but I'm getting a "subscript out of range" error
Sub Macro1() Macro2 "Sheet1" End Sub
Sub Macro2(sheet As String) Worksheets(sheet).Select End Sub
Is it possible to click on a cell and use the cell info as the input data for a search instead of typing data into a cell for a vlookup?
For example, I have a spreadsheet with numbers corresponding to stock codes. Would it be posible to just click on the stock number to return the information on the stock (levels, sizes etc...) instead of typing the stock code in for a vlookup calculation.
I am trying to count the number of rows on sheets 11 To 2 in my workbook. I want to count the rows (excluding the header) on each sheet one at a time and place them on a "Summary" Sheet. So for example. The row count for Sheet 11 would go in cell B2 of the "Summary" Sheet. The row count for Sheet 10 would go in cell B3 on the "Summary" tab. The row count for Sheet 9 would go in cell b4 on the "Summary" Tab. I have taken a crack at the sub procedure but can't get the syntax and/or the logic correct.
Here is what I have so far:
Code: Sub SummaryCalculations() Dim lr As Long Dim i As Long Dim SheetArray(11 To 2) As Worksheet 'Sheets that the rows need to be counted on are 11,10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3 and 2
I'm trying to make a sheet to calculate my taxes. I would like to keep tax rates from previous year(s), and have them applied based on which year I input in a cell..
Let say that in cell B1 I write year 2013
In cell G1 I have year 2013 and in cells G2:G7 I have tax rates from year 2013. In cell H1 I have year 2014 and in cells H2:H7 tax rates from year 2014
In cell B17 to B20 I would like to make a formula that multiplies cell B11 or B12 with information found in either column G or H based on input in B1.
I have attached a spread sheet as example.
I know I can make a formula based on IF(B1=2013;G*;IF(B2=2014;H*;etc..
I am trying to display number of lines which depends on value pass by user. Actually user is passing some value. on which some group of lines has to be display.
eg for 1 value 9 lines for 2 value first 9 lines + another 9 lines for 3 value first 18lines + 9 lines and so on till 52.(this 9 lines are set of some column and rows)
Have a person Input an Assembly Number and,Have Excel return a list of Part Numbers, their Descriptions, and a Quantity for each Part Number that will need to be packaged with the Assembly Number that was Input.
The output needs to be in the form of a check sheet (I can play with the formatting if I can get the information out) for the one Assembly Number input. The output can either be in a separate spreadsheet or a User Form. The spreadsheet is easier for me to work with but the User Form looks cooler.
I can use a VBA Function to Input the Assembly Number but then I need some way of searching a small table (about 20x20 cells) to find the matching Assembly Number and then return the Part Numbers, etc. to a check sheet so the parts can be packaged. Each Assembly Number can have several Part Numbers associated with it. Either unique to that Assembly Number or common to other Assembly Numbers. The Quantities can also be unique or common. A couple of simple examples might be:
I used Sheets(1).Cells(1, 1).Rows.End(xlUp).Count instead of UsedRange.Rows.Count in this code , but it didn't succed with me. Why and how to do that
Dim i As Long, j As Long j = 1 For i = 1 To UsedRange.Rows.Count Sheets(2).Cells(j, "a").Value = Sheets(1).Cells(i, "a").Value Sheets(2).Cells(j, "b").Value = Sheets(1).Cells(i, "b").Value Sheets(2).Cells(j, "c").Value = Sheets(1).Cells(i, "c").Value j = j + 1 Next i End Sub
I have a drop down box on a worksheet and once I have selected the item I want from the list, I would like the price of that item to appear in the cell next to it..
Count & Sum is one of the most usefull function in the Excel, I always used this, Is it possible in VBA to create such code that if I Select a range and click on Commandbutton1 automatically one msgbox display with the Count & Sum of the Range Item
eg. If Range A2 to A5 has a number like 50,10,20,10
here if the command button is click automatically one msgbox is display which showing the
-Total Sum of the Seletced Range is 100 and Total Count is 4
How can I count the number of selected worksheets in VBA? I've been looking in the Excel object model, but with no avail. Perhaps I'm overlooking something simple.
Everything seemed to be working until i tried to copy and paste something on my spreadsheet (sheet titled Input Sheet). When I paste anything onto this sheet I see the Paste happen and then Excel just hangs (no errors?). I just left it for over 5 minutes and nothing happened (still hanging). I had to close it down using X
I have LOTS of different codes and different sheets in my spreadsheet. I was wondering if anyone knows how I can go about Pinpointing the problem. Chances are no one will be cutting and pasting but I would like to know why this is happening but have no idea how to go about investigating?
Say i want to count the average from differnet selected cells say
cell A1,B4,C9,D10,E12
and some of the cells have the value 0 in them, so i don't want the formula to include these as long as they have the value 0.
I have tried to divide with a sumproduct and i can get i to work if it is cells next to each other like A1:A20, but not if i want to do it with different selected cells
I have a bit of code in sheet two of my document that requires user input to produce output. However I have the document set up in a vway that requires the actual input to be placed in a vell in sheet one, and the cell in sheet two is just "=cell in sheet one". This causes the input cell in sheet two to change but the output cell does not produce the new answer.
