I have columns that have different colors, depending on there conditional format i.e. Green or Red. I want to count the number of either Red or Green in a total at the bottom. I have search and found a few answers
Function CountColor(rColor As Range, rSumRange As Range)
Dim rCell As Range
Dim iCol As Integer
Dim vResult
iCol = rColor.Interior.ColorIndex
For Each rCell In rSumRange
If rCell.Interior.ColorIndex = iCol Then
vResult = vResult + 1
End If
Next rCell
CountColor = vResult
End Function
BUT these don't seem to work on conditionally formatted columns
I am looking to produce a Macro to select conditionally formatted cell's from a worksheet, i got as far as selecting those cell's but i need it to only select cells that have been filled.
This is my first use of the forum as I only joined yesterday after a recommendation from another colleague.
I am attempting to write a macro to clear the contents of cells in a range that have conditional formatting. Below is the formula I have used...
Sub clr() Dim r As Range For Each r In Range("09:050") If InStr(r.Interior.ColorIndex, "40") Then r.ClearContents Next r End Sub
While the formula runs without error, it does not clear the contents, although I read on another thread on this forum that you cannot clear contents of cells that are conditionally formatted.
Alternatively, if there is a more efficient way to clear cell contents (without using a formula in the cell itself),
spread sheet that I need to do for work. Unfortunately I do not have excel on my home computer to be able to attach a spread sheet
The spreadsheet has one column (A) with a list of questions. The column next to this (B) has either a red or yellow cell in each row (a red cell would be a high risk to the business if the answer to the question in that row was no, and a yellow cell indicates a moderate risk to the business in the answer to the question in the row was no).
The third column (C) is conditionally formatted so if a 'y' was placed in any of the cells they would turn green. If 'n' is placed in any of the cells the cell would change to either red or yellow (this would depend on what the colour was in column B).
I need to know a formula to count cells by colour. So the number of red, yellow and green cells in column C would be counted automatically into a totals box for each colour at the bottom of the spreadsheet. I have tried some online suggestions but couldn't get these to work for cells that had been conditionally formatted. I'm not the most experienced person with spreadsheets (this time last week I couldn't add two cells together)
The final thing I need from the spreadsheet (and I'm not even sure if this is possible) is for a total box to be colour co-ordinated based on the number of red, yellow and green cells in column C. I would need the total box to be green if all column c is green, yellow if three or less cells in column C are yellow and red if any of the cells in column C are red or there are more than 3 yellow cells in column C.
Is there a Color Function type vba code that can give me the color integer? I have one that can do that for cells that I've manually colored but I can't find a code that works on conditionally formatted cells.
I have a range of cells that change colors with conditional formats based on the cell value from high to low. I would like to link the cell color to an object such as a circle or rectangle. When the cell value changes along with the conditional format, the color of the object will also change.
I have a column who's content is determined via about 6 nested if statements from data on that row. That cell is then conditionally formatted to a certain color based on the text that is ultimately printed from the nested ifs (simply an extra visual legend for the text). All of this contributing info and about 1000 lines items make a very large and difficult to print page. What I am trying to do is a make a summary sheet that simply takes the index number of these 1000 rows and copies or links the conditional formatting of the mentioned cell onto this number on another sheet. I have already linked this status cell and put it adjacent to the index number which works well in that with two columns I can show the index and status but if I could combine the color of the status cell onto the index cell, it would be even better. I am pretty sure another conditional format for this summary sheet would not be possible or be extremely complex since the contents of the index cell I am conditionally formatting have no bearing on the conditions for the format. Was hoping there is some VBA magic that could simply mimic the conditional formatting from one cell and put it on another.
Using 2007, I need to conditionally format a cell colour based on 5 other cell colours that have been conditionally formatted. The 5 other cells will be coloured either red or greem. What I want to do is have an overall status cell that would be show green if all of the other 5 cells were green, amber if 4 of the other cells were green and one was red and red if 3 or more cells are red.
I am attempting to count a number of cells in one column so long as they fall within a certain date, which is located in another cell in the same column. I'm trying to account for a number of reports that happened within a certain week.
The formula I came up with was
=COUNTA(COUNTIFS(A_DATE,">="&B2,A_DATE,"<="&D2))
But this returns 1 more then it should no matter what. Even when all cells within A_DATE are empty. it returns 1.
I know the COUNTIFS portion works to count the cells between certain dates.
Is what i'm looking to do possible or am I suffering from Excel burnout and just can't see that logicaly it makes no sense?
How to sort out a way to count cells whose fill colors have been set via conditional formatting.
I'm sure that I was once able to use Chip Pearson's CountOfCF function back in the days of Excel 2003, as it worked around the 3 condition limit and used .ColorIndex which assumed that you'd only ever be formatting using the .ColorIndex values of 1 to 56, but I can't seem to be able to get it to work in 2010.
My pallet lost color-coding - if I hover over each little scare it displays the names for the colors and if I click on them they color the cells with the right colors, but the palette itself lost the visual display of colors except for 8 colors: black, blue, red, magenta, yellow, cyan, and white.
I use color-coding of cells a lot and I find it difficult to work without visual clues. At least the hover-support allows me to get the work done, but with difficulty.
I cannot get various formulas (Countif, Match, Frequency, Etc) to work properly.
I am trying to arrive at a total number of matches of numbers in cell range B1:G1 with any numbers entered into the cell range of K1:P11 and have the total of matches display in cell H1. However I do not want to count duplicate numbers from the K1:P11 cells. (if the number 5 in posted in K1:P11 multiple times I only need it reported once in H1)
B1:G1 is the constant and the numbers will not change - K1:P11 cells will be populated by adding numbers until the all the numbers in B1:G1 is completed and match.
I'm working with a line of code I can't seem to get right. I've got this string that will put breaks in, but I've realized it would make my life easier if the code, along with inserting a break, then inserted a formatted gray divider, it would make it easier. Here's what I have:
Sub BreakSections() 'This macro breaks the new data on sheets into their individual groups, inserting a blank line_ 'which will need to be filled with a gray dividing line Dim i As Long, j As Long Application. ScreenUpdating = False With Sheets("Contract Manufacturers") . Cells.UnMerge i = .UsedRange.Rows.Count End With For j = i To 2 Step -1 If Not IsEmpty(Cells(j, 5)) And Cells(j + 1, 5) <> Cells(j, 5) Then Rows(j + 1).Insert Next Application.ScreenUpdating = True End Sub
I've tried then to put this code in after the Insert:
But I end up getting a whole mess of gray rows, displacing a lot of data. Is it possible to do these things together, or I should write another macro that just looks for the blank spots? It seems like it would be easier to do it all at once.
I have a long row of data with words/numbers in each cell. Whenever I see a cell starting with W, I want to add up the value 2 cells to the right of that cell starting with W.
For example, if these following 9 cells in the same row read W1, 90, 100, M2, 90, 100, W2, 90, 40, whenever the cell starts with W, I want to sum up the value 2 cells to the right of that cell starting with W. In this case, I am adding up the values 2 cells to the right of W1 and W2, which is 100 + 40 = 140. How can I do that?
How to change the color of a single tabe. What I'm trying to do now is reset the tab color for all tabs.
Here is my code:
'REMOVE TAB COLOR Dim ws As Worksheet For Each ws In ActiveWorkbook.Worksheets With ActiveWorkbook.ActiveSheet.Tab .ColorIndex = xlNone .TintAndShade = 0 End With On Error Resume Next Next ws
I'm new to using loops so I'm not exactly sure what the above code is doing. When I debug it goes through the steps without any errors but it doesn't actually change the tab colors.
The following code is the code "behind" the run button on my userform. The last section reads in a column ( of numbers and text) into a listbox based on the users choice. Is there any way I can have only certain rows in a different color - based on either if the value in that row is greater than a certain number of if the text in that row is a particular sentence?
Private Sub CommandButton1_Click() 'Dimension all variables Dim fqc As Long Dim eptg As Long Dim newlabel As String Dim BorC As String Dim now As Long Dim secondorthird As String
'Collect User Choices fqc = TextBox3.Value ' Final Quiz Choice eptg = TextBox5.Value ' Expected Post Test Grade BorC = TextBox4.Value ' Is desired grade a B or C now = TextBox6.Value ' Number Of Weeks after term has started secondorthird = "second" If (now = 3) Then secondorthird = "third" .....
For some reason colors will not show on any EXcel doc. When I type colored text in a cell, it shows the color until I press enter, then it goes black. Cell fill colors do not show at all.
However when I send the doc to another computer the colors wil show.
I am trying to create a Holiday/Absence Sheet that will count up hours of Holidays, absence, business Visits etc etc.
The only way I can think of doing this is by colour and filling the cells with the Number of hours holidays, Absence & Business Visits but to do this I need to create a formula that will sum by colour. I've tried a variety of things and I'm sure this can be done using VBA but it's something I have never used so I am at a loss.
So, what I need is a SUM (A1:A31 if colour= Red) and SUM (A1:A31 if colour= Blue) etc.
I hope this makes sense or one of you geniuses out there can come up with somethign smart that works better than my idea!
I have Excel 2008 for Mac (vers 12.0). On a basic spreadsheet, the first column is for date which I have formatted so I can type in 15/8/9 and it appears as 15-Aug-09.
However, each time I open Excel after having Quit it, I have to reformat the cells in this column again as they revert to converting my date input with something like 39,123.
My other columns are formatted to currency and are always okay.
I'm trying to copy about 10,000 barcode over to a new spreadsheet, the prob is that when I copy them over they appear as XXXX+12 and then when I try and use them it doesn't like it. I can solve it if I format the column to text - and then double click it. This is ok for a hundred or so but fingers start to hurt after that!
I have a cell that calculates an etch time, eg 41.88. The cell is formatted to give me whole numbers and quarters only so that the operators input is made easier, in this case 42.
When I use a macro to copy this to another worksheet, although it appears as 42, the actual cell data is 41.88. Anyway I can get the actual cell data to be 42?
I have a project where if the user enters 'R' into cell H17 then cells B19:K19 are to be filled with black color. These cells are divided into three fields: B19:E19, F19:H19, and I19:K19.
When I select these three fields and use the conditional formatting tool the only cells that are black are B19:E19. Even though the rule explicitly shows that cells B19:K19 are to be affected. In order to have all three fields black I have to make three rules (one for each field).
The same behavior happens when I use the conditional formatting tool and select the cells from within the tool's dialog.
How can I get all three of the fields formatted with one rule?
I have a cell that I've formatted to dd/mmm/yy, It used to work, but now it doesn't. When I type in 1/2/03, the formatted cell shows 0-Jan-00, The formula bar shows =1/1/2. I seem to have a formula in the cell, but I can't get rid of it. I know it's most probably somethinmg I've done , but I don't know what. I've tried everything I know. I can't seem to re format the cell , and I can't delete the formatting in it. I'm stuffed.
this code works fine on my desktop but on 2 of work's pc's it produces a error at the msgbox line
Private Sub Workbook_open() 'http://www.ozgrid.com/forum/showthread.php?p=306542&posted=1#post306542 Dim dDate As Date dDate = Sheet16. Range("a1").Value MsgBox "Today is the " & Format(dDate,"dd/mm/yy"), vbOKOnly End Sub
i have changed the security settings in macro's and one of them was using office 2000, not sure about the 2nd one but i will check next time iam at the office and grab the error codes.
Is it possible to sum cells that contain numbers converted to text? I used TEXT function to convert them because I needed to format them (to display three decimal digits, if number < than 0.05, three digits otherwise). But now SUM Formula doesn't work.
