Counting Combinations Where Same Field Data Can Be In Different Columns

What I am trying to achieve using the example below:
ID Subject 1 Subject 2 Subject 3
1 Italian French German
2 Italian Art Physics
3 German French Italian
4 French Italian German
the result:
Italian French German 3
Italian Art Physics 1
As in the example, the combinations of Italian, French and German where counted, irrelevant of whether the subjects are in 2nd, 3rd or 4th column.
I tried to do this task by creating a pivot table but there are so many permutations and subjects that it would take me a long time to add the combinations.

I am trying to count the number of times that data is in a field and in any field the date is greaert than today's date. This date field could be blank and that is where I am having the problem.

When i tried to drop another field into data field, by default, the new data field will appear below the field which was already in there. However, i would like the new field showing in an new column - horizontally - rather than showing in a new row.
For example:
Rather than the Pivot table appear like this:
Q108A 72
____B84
____C68
____D5
Q109A 64
____ B 73
____C58
____D 5
I would like the privot table present like the following format:
____ A_ B_ C_ D_
Q108 72 84 68 5
Q109 64 73 58 5
Is there setting I can change, so that the new field is added to a new column.

Basically I have a form where the list can expand and contract so there will always be varying row lengths.
What I would like to see is a drop down list that shows a) the actual populated field and b) a description of the field when the drop down list is present.
I believe this can be done with a combo box however that would be a lot of work.

In my table I have a column called Series and Column called Games.
Now when a user makes an entry the do the following
Enter the Date of a game
then a Series # (I wish I could make this auto increment because a series number can never be used more than once.)
then a game number starting with 1 and never going past 3.
Then Bet Team, Home or Away and Vs Team.
Now let it be know if the column called w/L = Win then that Series is over for ever and there will be no more games played.
If there W/L = Loss then I must create a new row for that SERIES with the next game number.
What I was hoping to do is
If I write in the following going in order
Date ---4-11-09
Series # ---- 6
It should auto populate
Game to the next game #
Bet Team
H/A
Vs Team
I also want it to update my record
C3 is my series Wins
D3 is my series Losses
I do not know how to populate that.
A Series Win = during a series game 1-3 where W/L = Win
A Series Loss = a series 1-3 where there are no wins. A series does not count as a loss until you loose game #3.

I need a formula that will look into a range of data and tell me whan the last time a value exceeded 0 (working backwards).
So below the first row would return a value of 6, the next 5, the next 0, the next 1 and so on....
I can do it with an if formula but the amount of days it will be looking at will be too many, plus the range will keep growing as time passes.

So, in general I do have two columns F and G taken from the other xls.
Age is obviously difference between today and open date
Open date is open date.
I made a table like:
Age and due date.png
In this case, I have 3 rows where there is no open date extracted, therefore is no age. The counter stops on them and shows 529 in total instead of 532 or shows the age as far more than 365 days. How can I count the blank cells, but only in the range of the list I do have, not the all blanks I have from the beginning till the end of the column, so I could (for similar in this case) have 3 blanks cells counted?
Sometimes is also stuck in the middle of counting (when blanks are inside there) and the total number is even smaller. What function can I use to count these 3 (or less, more inn the future) as BLANK to have the total numbers realistic?

The unique work ID are the same for each description, but there are up to 5 different description associated with each unique work id.

why is pivot table changing numbers to dates. It was fine all along, numbers retained the fromat of source data and now, all numbers in field columns are turning into dates. is there a setting I can change to prevent excel from reformatting numbers to dates?

I have two columns of data in a worksheet, and I need a third column that shows all of the possible combinations of the data in those two columns. For example:

AB
[Code] .....
I don't need permutations so, for example, the third column should only give the combination "AB" and exclude "BA".

I need to count how many times a code appears over a 6mth period only on a single day. The data would look something like:-
1/1 2/1 3/1 4/1 5/1 6/1 7/1 8/1 9/1 10/1 etc
a b c a a b a a b b
If counting b the result would be 2 on the above 10 days as it appears on the 9/1 & 10/1 it would not be included. It is to be used to count the number of times somebody only appears on a single day over a period of time but not count them if they come back the next day.
I cant think of a way to do this using in built formulas (Countifs, sumproduct, etc) The example is basic and there could be up to 20 codes.

I have two columns of data, one with an ID # and the other one with a date. Some ID# + date combinations are repeated and I need to delete the duplicates. Here is a visual:

I have a spreadsheet with two columns:
The first one will always have a 'W' or a 'E'.
The second one will have a three digit code. Like this:

Have a monthly report process in which I need to count to combinations of values in 2 columns. Example:
A 1
A 1
A 2
A 3
B 2
B 1
B 3
B 3
B 4
Count results: A&1 = 2, A&2 = 1, etc. I'd like to get a summary table of the results. I see how to use sumproduct to count combinations, but that requires a sumproduct formula for every combination. The 2 colums are lengthy and the contents vary each month, so building the formulas each month will be a fair amount of work. Is there another way?

I have a simple formula ='info page'!b2&'info page'!b5 in places that on my sheet adds a company prefix to a item number, prefix in b2 and item in b5, we have a client that we cant use prefixes but now when I leave the field blank its giving a zero and thats not good either. I'm pretty sure an IFERROR or something will work but can get the syntax right.

I have a table with 6 columns (A to F) and multiple rows each, with cells containing words. Taking the words in any one cell from each of the columns in order from A to F will form a complete sentence each time. I need a solution to display all unique possible combinations in column G.
The number of rows is different for each column. A successful result in column G has to include cells from all columns (A to F).
I searched this forum and found a few analogous questions/solutions, but nothing close enough for me to apply to my case. I tried using a concatenation formula, but I have to manually edit the formula in each cell to get all unique combinations (and that would mean thousands of times). If I just drag the formula down it will increment all cell rows instead of one cell's row at a time.

I have a single rangle of numbers in Column A, and in Columns B and C and want to list all possible combinations of these numbers. If there is a possible solution without using a Macro I would perfer that, but if not I'll take what I can get.

I have 7 columns x 3 rows with unique numbers. I wish to determine every combination of the above numbers without repeats.

Column 1 would only use column 1 numbers.
Column 2 would only use column 2 numbers...etc.
Also have the same for 5 rows of unique numbers.
I've been working on this for 10 years and this is the last step to finalizing the WINNING numbers.
Back checking using the 5 row technique I would have spent 10,000,000.00 playing over 8 years with a winners purse of 33,000,000.00
With the 3 row I would have spent close to 200k and won 2.5 mil.
Only problem is that I don't have the 10 to start with, the 200k is a maybe .
I need to be able to generate the combinations to play the numbers.

I attached partial file so you can see what i mean. I pasted only a few combinations cause the file was to big and i wasnt able to attach it...there are 142506 combinations . But you can see what i mean. A VBA or a macro on the worksheet will do the job?

I'm trying to compare values in 2 separate columns to see how many times the same value appears in both columns. Ideally I would be able to insert a range function to compare the values in the column "ID 1" against the values in column "ID 2" and return the count of times that a value appears in both columns. For example 2122, 1112 and 1718 appear in both columns and I would like the formula to return a count of 3.

What I am looking for is to select between 7 and 15 numbers in total, I want all the possible 6 digit combinations for this.
EG: if I choose 2,9,11,13,15,17&26, it would look something like this
2,9,11,13,15,17
2,9,11,13,15,26
9,11,13,15,17,26
And so on.
If I chose more numbers (10) 1,2,3,4,3,6,7,8,9,10 it would start something like this
1,2,3,4,5,6
1,2,3,4,5,7
1,2,3,4,5,8
1,2,3,4,5,9
1,2,3,4,5,10
And so on.
Please remenber I would like to be able to secelt between 7 and 15 number and be given all the possible combinations.
I would like it to be in one sheet but if that can not be done on as many as it takes.
It would be good if I could just type the required number into A1,B1,C1 and so on and they just gave the combinations required.

I've found myself having to use a spreadsheet to calculate some acoustics problems, (problematic frequencies, called modes, in orders ranging from 0,1,2,3....).
Ideally what I want to be able to do is simply to get Excell to calculate all the possible combinations of these modes.
A combination could be:
000
011
101
110
111
012
143
etc.
Obviously this is a nightmare to input by hand, is there any kind of function I can use to help with this process?
Also these frequencies only need to be calculated up to a certain point, so is it possible I could also instruct the cell to only display a value if it is less than a value in another cell?

i found this vb code the other day on this forum from a post made way back in 2005 i think it was. I've found it really useful for what i wanted to do, but i wonder if it can be expanded or changed to allow for more sets of imformation.
This is the Code, it finds all possible combinations from 3 sets of 3 results.

I have one last question. is there a way to make this a little more complicated? for every two possible combinations of names, i have a value. is it possible to create a fourth colum, in which the sum from the three values is calculated?
for example-
12 different letter names (a-l)
after running the code derk sent, i now have a-l in cells A1:A12
I also have every combination of 3 using these 12 names in columns C D and E
take for instance the combination of three names (a, b, c). i have values for ab, ac, and bc in columns G, H and R respectively. can these values be summed together and averaged in the fourth column?

I have a big table with lots of columns for which I want a pivot to sum the data in the columns. Most likely because there are lot of blanks in the data Excel automatic makes a count of the data when I drag it into the pivot table. Now I have to change for each column one by one the Value field settings from count to sum. Is there a way to change the Value field settings for multiple columns at once from count to sum? If not can I somehow change the settings of the pivot table so default the Value field settings will be sum when I drag it into the pivot table?

I have a spreadsheet with a few thousand rows, yeah i know..lol Each one of the rows has contact details for individuals. I have the address for each person in one field with up to four different sections, seperated by tabs. How do I go about seperating each part of the address so it is in a different column? I have tried text to columns, and it only seperates the first portion of the address, seperated by the delimiter 'tab'.

I have a Table with 2 columns "Due Date" and "Completed Date". The pivot table from the table gives the count of each column. I want to have a calculated column giving the % complete, ie. "Count of Completed"/"Completed Date"*100. When I attempt to create this formula (using Pivot Table Options > Fields Items and Sets > Calculated field), I get a DivZero error, even though both columns are not zero. How do I create such a calculated column?
