I have a column of data with letters in each cell, no numerical, only alpha. Now, some of those cells contain the letters "adj sub" as part of the text string in each cell. "Adj sub" is always at the beginning of the text string. As an example, a cell will look like this - "adj sub mhm". I want to delete rows whose cell description does not contain "adj sub" as part of the text in the cell.
I am trying to delete part of a text string for a range of cells. The code I have so far deletes the first set of letters but is looking in every cell in the range.
Ideally I would like it to only look in the cells of col B where there is data then only delete the first 10 letters if the cell begins with "Service ID"
Sub DeleteServiceID() Dim c As Range For Each c In Range("B1:B1000") c.Value = Right(c.Value, 10) Next c End Sub
I am looking for a formula to delete information from the middle of a text string. I have ~ 1,000 lines of data. Each text string is composed of the same way. The data I am looking for is two parts of the string (1) all the text up to and including the first “%” character (2) the last six characters.

I am trying to move through the worksheets and delete all columns with "Accession" in contained in them. I have to do this with an external macro as the spreadsheet with the data is created from another program. I tried this and get an 'Object or With block variable not set' error and the debug highlights the Cells. Find line of the code.
Also, the number of columns could be variable within the spreadsheet as it is compiled by the other program.
Sub DelAccessionNum() Dim Wrkst As Worksheet For Each Wrkst In ActiveWorkbook.Worksheets Cells.Find(What:="Accession", After:=ActiveCell, LookIn:=xlFormulas, LookAt:= _ xlPart, SearchOrder:=xlByRows, SearchDirection:=xlPrevious, MatchCase:=False _ , SearchFormat:=False).Activate On Error Goto Completed: Selection.EntireColumn.Delete Shift:=xlToLeft Completed: Next End Sub
I'm trying to create a macro that will look at each worksheet in a workbook and then delete the last line of data on each worksheet. The last row can vary on each worksheet. This is what I have come up with but it is not working. I am on Excel 2010 and Windows 7.
In a field containing this: Bergamot, Orange*(11,16) I want to put a space before the asterisk. There are hundreds of these in the spreadsheet with other text before and after the text to be replaced. I made sure the field is defined as a text field.
I searched on "*(" and said replaced with " *(" and ended up with " *(11,16)" - the Bergamot, Orange was removed from the field.
Is there any way to remove the first part of a string of text in a cell and save the second part?
The first part of the text string is a team code that has a variable number of numbers, capital letters and sometimes spaces. The second part of the text string is a variable number of words in a team name that all start with a capital letter and have lower case letters. Every line has a different team code and team name.
The original spreadsheet also has a column with just team code. Is there a way of using this column to "subtract" the team code from the text string to just leave the team name?
I tried to make something to find a certain value (from a userform) in a range, and then copy the line partially to another sheet. Then go forth to the next found item and do the same. But... I cannot seem to make this loop.
With Sheets("Data input").Range("N5:N1100") Dim FoundRange As Range Worksheets("Data input").Activate
i have a spreadsheet with 21,000 part numbers. I am trying to group the like part numbers, then leave a space between the unlike part numbers. right now my spreadsheet has a space between each part number and i want to eliminate that. but also keeping the part's qty, date, etc. with it.
I have a spreadsheet where on a weekly basis data is copied in to various tabs. I then have a "formula" tab where I have a single line of formulas which look up the various data tabs and extract the results I want to show.
Currently each week, before I import the new data into the various tabs, I copy the last row in the "formula" tab and paste to the line below it. This contains all the working formulas. I then paste values only on the line that I copied, thus "locking in" the values it calculated with that weeks data. This means that each row then contains the results with that week's data, and this will grow week by week.
What I am looking for is a formula that automates this process. So let's say that row 30 is the final row of data on my formula tab, it contains the formulas I want to use. I would need a macros that does the following:
1. Looks up last row (row 30) 2. Copies last row (row 30) 3. Pastes to next empty row (row 31) 4. Pastes values only to second last row (row 30)
I'm not too great with writing macros, I've found plenty that can find the last row, but I can't get them to work to highlight that row.
I have a spread sheet with product codes on and 5 different prices types but they have only pulled through 4 times so need to insert a 5th line for each product code
I have a spreadsheet where there is a white line that is over a row line. No matter what I do I cannot seem to delete it.
I zoom in but I cannot select it.
I change the border of the cells and it will not disappear.
I am completely lost as to what else it could be, no doubt it is a simple answer that is staring me in the face. I inherited the spreadsheet so not sure what was done in the past.
i'm excel macro now at the stage where i could already deleted duplicates data from column A to H. But i need to keep data in column J onwards.(column I i leave it blank to separate the data). currently i'm using these for deletion. (i put [] as i was unable to upload my question)
Delete_DuplicateReferences() Dim LLoop As Integer Dim LTestLoop As Integer Dim Lrows As Integer Dim LRange As String Dim LCnt As Integer 'Column values Dim LColA_1, LColB_1, LColC_1, LColD_1, LColE_1, LColF_1, LColG_1, LColH_1 As String Dim LColA_2, LColB_2, LColC_2, LColD_2, LColE_2, LColF_2, LColG_2, LColH_2 As String 'Test first 2000 rows in spreadsheet for duplicates (delete any duplicates found) Lrows = 2000.................
Column B on the spredsheet gets the Part Description vaules, we copy and paste from Customers excel and unfortunatly some descriptions contain 3asteriks in a row (***) and I need to import this into Access later on and Access will not except asteriks. Find and replace doesnt seem to work like i hoped , it replaces everything in cell not just part of it . If someone has a Formula that will work that would be ok too, it does not have ot be VBA
EXAMPLE Part Descriptions: RADIAL TIE DOWN LUG (4/500's) *** Formed FINES V-PLOW/ SCRAPER MOUNT ANGLE; Rev. A ***Formed
I'm using Excel 2010). I have column I, which is the sum of columns A and B (first and last names of patrons), and I have used conditional formatting to identify all duplicates in column I with red text. I would now like a macro to find red text in column I and then delete the corresponding rows.
I've been looking around on the web for a while and have cobbled together this code stolen from other people's macros:
[Code] ....
When I run it, I get the following error:
Run-time error '1004':Application-defined or object-defined error
Excel doc is called "stupid mailing list.xlsm", sheet I want to run the macro on is called "voters".
Can you cut out part of a number and replace it in another cell. For example
A1 come in as ###+### and it will not always be a three digts all the time but I would like to keep the number in front of the "+" in A1 and the number behind the "+" into A2 cell.
I try to write the function that gets some "ref" and returns appropriate item. For example: if I give to function "C3", it returns "AAA" if I give to function "R18", it returns "BBB" (cause it between R15 to R26) if I give to function "R9", it returns "BBB" also.
Using excel 2007. I am interested in writing a VBA code to delete rows based on the text starting content. I would like to delete rows with cells that do NOT start with an "S" or "SA"
