I'm designing a custom toolbar in VBA and have managed to create a toolbar with buttons.
However, I've been battling away trying to edit the buttons images so that I can design the button image to match the nature of macro assigned to it. The problem is that if you record yourself doing it, the macro written in VBA doesn't seem to recognise the editing button actions.
Does anyone out there know of a way to custom edit a button image in VBA?
I'm adding a command button at run time using excels help code;

I have a User Form which i want to use in such a way that editing the worksheet directly is not disabled while the userform is running. I would also like to use the right button mouse menu(cut, cpy,paste) while i am using the user form. I am using two Monitors with my PC and i want to work with User Form on one monitor being able to edit worksheet without having to close my User Form.

I have a workbook with a number of active sheets, I am wanting to be able to create a button that allows the user to upload an image from their computer to a particular cell. I wish to be able to create a fixed size for this image so it crops it proportionally. In effect it is a button that open the insert picture dialog. I then want this picture to be placed in a particular cell.
I can then use this picture in other part of the workbook so that it inserts it in to other areas.
I don't have any problem regrading the project but my Problem starts when i tried to make my tool more user friendly

I've created a userform following the tutorial http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa192538.aspx And a Find button which reads a string from a textbox, searches for it on the worksheet, and then displays the data for that row in the userform. I'm trying to work out how to do "Find Next", and it seems complicated. I know there are other techniques, such as filtering, or displaying all the found data in a dialog for user to choose which one to edit. But these are not suitable for my project. i need to modify it so that a selection on the beam input page causes the images to change on the beam output page. Currently this code is in the module section of VBA.
I need to link an image to a cell value and display the selected image in a new sheet of the same excel. I am attaching samplefile for easy reference. The requirement is, from the workout sheet when I select from drop down list, then the corresponding cell value appears in Parameter sheet in C9 cell.
There are four images copied in Parameter excel. The given image has to be selected and linked to the C9 cell value. Based on the selection that particular image should be shown on Sample Picture sheet. Here based on the selection only the image should reflect here.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy workbook simply has multiple columns of data which will be summarized visually in a tag cloud (I have the tag cloud part taken care of already creating either a jpg or png, I simply have to change the extension within a batch file to change between picture formats)
I need to have the tag cloud image display and update depending on which column the user would like to summarize (for now I have simplified the issue by only having one of the data columns in my workbook, and will worry about the user selection of the data column to be summarized later).
My Main Question:
Focusing on the image display and updating now, whether it be an ActiveX Image Control or any other way. I've been playing around manually before I try and code it and I can not get either a jpg or png file to attach to the ActiveX control (both of which cause an Invalid Picture Message).
The file name can stay the same if need be and for now I think/assume that'd be easiest (I have my Tag cloud generator just replacing the previously existing image file of the same name).
Would ActiveX control be the way to go for this dynamically changing image?
I am looking for a way to take the picture name associated with an image ie: (picture 571) and place that picture name in the cell next to the image.
I can see the picture name - it registers in the top left box that usually indicates the cell the cursor is on... and I could manually type that name next to each image.
However my spreadsheet has several thousand rows- each with several columns of information and an image..
I am looking for a way "formula?" to automatically read the image in cell J4 and populate cell K4 with the image name... and so on.
The reason for my request... is I am importing products into a web based shopping cart... to do so I have to export the products to a csv and import that csv into the shopping cart. The process of exporting to a csv- strips away all the images and leaves just data.
I found that I can save the document as an html and that process creates a folder with all the images- saved as (picture 571.jpg) if the resulting csv had the image name... the shopping cart would then look for that image name in my image file and it would populate into the shopping cart appropriately.
This seemed on it's face like a really simple thing to do, I have plenty experience with excel & I thought I'd be able to make cell k4= j4 and tada it would glean the image name & I could simply copy that formula all the way down the sheet & it would be done... but I just cant find the magic button that freely gives up the image name...
I have a dataset that includes the path and optionally an HTTPS URL to an image. Is it possible to embed this image in a cell?
Short of that what might be some other options?

Example when I type in my name it load my image out beside the name.
I have a number of image controls on a user form, each being loaded with an image from file.

And so on
Now what I am trying to do is when that image is clicked the name of that image is passed to a textbox
So the action would be
1 image of bus loaded into image control1 , the name of that image being bus.jpg
2 image is clicked
3 the name bus.jpg appears in a text box

Which works but as you can see this is static, as I have supplied the value , were as I would like the clicking action to pick up the name of the jpeg being displayed
So expanding upon this if say image1 is loaded with say a picture of a car instead of a bus

Now when it is clicked the name of the image being displayed in image control1 would be Car.jpg
And it is this value I wish to transfer to a text box for now will do more with it later
In addition to this I am not sure if the best idea is to have a number of image controls and load each with an individual picture or have one image control and swap the picture by clicking a command button
Is there a way to have image box display an image with a name matching data from a cell? example: if I type "hello" in cell a1, Image box will load image named "hello". And display new images by changing the name in cell a1. Note: the images will be located in a permanent folder.

I made the mistake of creating hyperlinks to files on a server (using the \SERVERNAME convention) without using the "hyperlink base" option.
I've been sufficiently chastened, but the present problem is that I have many such hyperlinks that are now worthless because, when saved, they point to "../../[foldername1]/[foldername2]/[filename]", etc.
Need macro that would replace the first five characters ("../..") of all the hyperlinks on my sheet with //[MYSERVERNAME] ?
So I am attempting to run a macro that contains some if then statements that will change the text in a cell given certain circumstances. I am having an issue specifying the range in that it begins in cell A2 and it goes to the last data cell in the sheet and no farther. The issue with just selecting a whole column is that if the a cell is blank, it fills it in with no and it leaves me with 65,xxx nos in column A. Attached is the workbook with the sheet the code would be executed on and hopefully what the solution would look like. Also i have attached the troublesome macro I have written.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have two CSV files that I would like to edit through Excel VBA. Both files have too many lines to be shown in Excel though, so I can't just use cell rerences. Every so many lines I want to delete a row and insert a row from one CSV file to the other. I could easily write a loop do this with cell references, but since all the lines aren't shown I can't do that. I have no idea how to reference all the rows in the CSV file with VBA when most of them aren't viewable on the worksheet.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI am trying to create an asset management database using excel, and would like to be able to add custom notes to each entry (index) so as time goes on, I can refresh my memory what we have done with a particular item. I have attached the current file I have created.
Essentially, when I use the GREEN drop down menu in the top right, I want it to display the notes/comments that I enter in the rightmost column of the data, as the attached file illustrates.
However, I want to be able to hide that rightmost column and be able to edit the data from the new area (white space) it is being displayed in, however as I have it set up right now, if I edit the cell, it edits the forumla and poof goes all the comments and the formula becomes messed up.
I have a table on sheet 2 consisting of 120 rows and 8 columns, on sheet 1 I have a combo box and have used INDEX to display the values for each row that I select. what I want to be able to do is edit the INDEX data on sheet 1 and then have a button that will replace the old value in the table on sheet 2 with the new value.
