-2147417848 automation error the object invoked has disconnected from its clients
Unfortunately, I can't tell where the error is occurring because everytime it happens excel crashes or at least stops responding. I tried waiting it out (about 20 minutes) but no luck. the only thing I can do is force the program to shut down through the task manager.
The program is designed to pull information from finviz.com (a financial site), filter the data. pull the next round of data and run the filters again. there are a total of 8 queries and i think it gets hung up during the 6th or 7th run through.
Stepping through the code does not seem practical since each query might pull as many as 300 rows of data that is evaluated in a for/next loop (thats a lot of F8s).
I have just signed up to the forums as I am having a very specific problem. I have looked on google and used the search feature (on several forums!) and found very limited information that is useful to me. I am having trouble with a very simple few lines of code in a macro. The code looks like this:
Function startmarketIDs() Dim targeturl, writerow, readrow, textmass, xmlHTTP targeturl = "http://lite.betfair.com/ Events.do?s=00010913z" Set xmlHTTP = CreateObject("Microsoft.xmlHTTP") xmlHTTP.Open "GET", targeturl, False xmlHTTP.send MsgBox xmlHTTP.StatusText textmass = xmlHTTP.responsetext MsgBox textmass End Function
My problem occurs at the line "textmass = xmlHTTP.responsetext". The responsetext command is obviously causing problems because if I remove it, the code executes without error and the "xmlHTTP.statustext" says "OK". With the responsetext command left in, the code generates the following error: Run-time error '-1072896658 (c00ce56e)': System Error: -1072896658. If I change the targeturl to www.betfair.com, the code executes fine and I get a message box (as desired) with the source code of the website displayed. Without meaning to sound like Im answering my own question (!!), perhaps there is something about the url or the way in which I am using the xmlHTTP object that is causing the issue, I wondered if someone would mind inspecting my code and perhaps pointing me in the right direction?
why the following code generates an error if I use the backspace key to clear the textbox?
Code: Dim t As Date If Len(Controls.Item("txtstart").Value) = 4 Then On Error Resume Next t = TimeSerial(Left(Controls.Item("txtstart").Value, 2), Right(Controls.Item("txtstart").Value, 2), 0) On Error GoTo 0 ElseIf Len(Controls.Item("txtstart").Value) = 5 Then On Error Resume Next
How can I edit the following code. If the "Dload" tab is not there the code errors out. How can I make it so that if the "Dload" is not there the macro says "Dload tab missing. Do you want to check file and try again" If the user says yes. then the macro lets the user pick another file. If the user chooses No then does similar quesiton like I have here starting with
I have searched the Forum for help on this error 91 but still cannot figure this out.
Below is a format macro I created. I have several ' Find' routines in here and at the beginning of each one I give it an 'On Error GoTo' type statement. This seems to work fine until it gets to a second error. I have moved various 'Find' routines around and it doesn't matter which order they are in, if there are two things it can't find, it gives the error 91 on the second.
Sub Format_SFDC_Detail_Reports() ' ' Macro to format salesforce.com reports with details. rguest '
On Error Goto errorhandler
Msg = "Do you want to format this report for Landscape (Yes) or Portrait (No)?" Style = vbYesNoCancel + vbQuestion + vbDefaultButton1 + vbSystemModal Title = "Format Report as Landscape?" response = MsgBox(Msg, Style, Title)
If response = vbCancel Then 'Exit the routine Goto last_line: End If If response = vbYes Then format_style = "Landscape" End If If response = vbNo Then format_style = "Portrait" End If
why this is causing an error upon opening the file. This workbook has a userform with a listbox (single list, single selection), and when I have the ControlSource property set it causes an error upon opening the userform (which opens when the file is opened), whereas if I do not have the ControlSource property set to anything, it seems to work fine.
Interestingly, if I set the file up to not open the userform with the file, and instead have the userform open when a worksheet control such as a command button is clicked, it doesn't seem to matter if the ControlSource property is set or not. The workbook in question is attached.
I have the following macro which I've pieced together which works great at clearing the cell as long as the text entered by the user is found in the specified column.
Unfortunately I'm a big rookie with this stuff and I can't figure out how to handle the process/error when an entered value is not found. When ChosenRow returns with a 0 I get a Run time error '91', Object Variable or With Block variable not set.
Private Sub CommandButton1_Click() oldSheet$ = ActiveSheet.Name Dim ChosenRow As Long Dim loc As Variant Application. ScreenUpdating = False With UserForm4 loc = .TextBox1.Text End With With ActiveWorkbook Sheets("Reference").Select End With
Cells. Find(What:=searchterm, After:=Cells(1, 1), MatchCase:=False).Activate 'find pn that is stored in searchterm
causes a runtime error 91 when there are no results. "Object variable or with block variable not set"
Ideally, when there are no results, I would like to enter a loop, where I could provide a drop down list of fuzzy matches, but I am not sure excel can do fuzzy matches. I'd settle for just highlighting the row and moving on... any help?
ActiveSheet.Cells.Find(What:="AES", After:=Cells(1, 1), MatchCase:=False).Activate 'find the aes part number column Dim aescolumn 'create variable for index value of aes column aescolumn = ActiveCell.Column 'set variable to index number
I have a relatively complex report that I work with and a worksheet is no longer required. I have deleted the worksheet and reference to it hwoever when running the macro to pull all the data, it gets to the summary of all the data and i get the Run Time Error 1004 Application-defined or object-defined error pop up. ON reviewing it, it is on this line ActiveCell.Offset(0, 0).Range("a1:a" & Range_Height).Select of the below code...
VB: Sub GetRangeName() Sheets("TOTAL").Select
use code tags around code. Posting code without them makes your code hard to read and difficult to be copied for testing. Highlight your code and click the # at the top of your post window.
I have a simple function below to put in different forumlas in different cells to get stock quotes. When I run this I get runtime error 1004 application-defined or object-defined error. The first formula goes through but vba chokes on the next formula: ActiveCell.Offset(I - 1, 4).Formula = username
For some reason my form won't open when the workbook is opened. I get an error message "run time error '424' object required" (which happens when I have Form1.show in the BOTH workbook_open event and the userform_initialize event (oops)). When I removed form1.show from the userform_initialize I don't get an error but I also get no form. I recall having this issue before but I can't recall how to fix it.
Can I call the userform_initialize event from the workbook open event to get around this successfully and properly?
I am trying to copy the info from one workbook to another workbook.
I keep getting the above referenced error...
Private Sub CommandButton1_Click() Dim filepath As String filepath = Range("A100") MsgBox ("File Appended") Workbooks.Open (filepath) Windows("CorrespondenceMaster.xls").Activate Sheets("Sheet2").Select Range("DesNo", "LocationPath").Select Selection.Copy Windows(filepath).Activate Range("A2").Select ActiveSheet.Paste End Sub
I am having difficulty getting a form to work the way that I would like it to work. I have a form that is used to display questions that my students will be answering. The form also is used to put the answers into a worksheet. I have 2 sheets. Sheet2 has the questions, student answers, and correct answers. Sheet1 is used to indicate correct answers and to keep track of percentage correct. I am fairly new to VB. I have 2 pieces of code that I am going to post. The first one works and the second one doesn't.
This is in the "This Workbook" section and it works. Option Explicit Public intNoQ As Integer Public strNoQ As String Public NumberofQuestions As Integer Dim StudentName As String Dim InputBoxAnswer As String Public Sub Workbook_Open() Application.Visible = False 'Hide Excel Load Questions Load NumberCorrect NumberofQuestions = Worksheets("Sheet1").Range("K3").Value For intNoQ = 1 To NumberofQuestions strNoQ = VBA.CStr(intNoQ) If intNoQ = 1 Then Questions.Controls("QuestionNumberBox").Value = "Question#" & strNoQ Questions.Controls("QuestionBox").Value = Worksheets("Sheet2").Range("B1").Value End If Questions.Controls("CorrectBox" & strNoQ).Visible = True Questions.Controls("CorrectLabel" & strNoQ).Visible = True Next intNoQ...............
I have a spreadsheet which has 3 separate external queries running from worksheet 'A'. My user enters a couple of dates in another worksheet 'B' to supply the date parameters for the query and a macro runs to refresh all of the queries and performs a few calculations.This works fine. The trouble is I don't want the user to be able to view all the data on sheet 'A' only the summary on B. My macro ends up on sheet B but whilst the query is refreshing the raw data is displayed to the user on sheet 'A'. When I hide the sheet 'A' i get a run time error '1004' Select method of worksheet class failed.
when I run the macro, I receive an error: "Run-Time Error '1004': Application-Defined or Object-Defined Error" See attached macro. If I click "Debug", the line "With r.Resize(,1)....... becomes highlighted in yellow.
In one worksheet i have created the following code, which adds date to specific column when data is entered in colum A.
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Excel.Range) If Target.Column = 1 Then Target.Offset(0, 10).Value = Now() End If End Sub
The problem is that when trying to delete a whole row, error message pops-up. Run-time error '1004' Application-defined or object -defined error. When click "End" actually everthing is ok, the row has been deleted, but was just wondering what is causing that error.
This error is telling me "application defined or object defined error" and i am unsure how to fix it. Basically i have a ton of files within a folder that i am trying to do some reformatting to. I would like to save the new files to a new folder and keep the originals where they are.
