Error Handle Routine For Macro

Aug 16, 2007

How can I edit the following code. If the "Dload" tab is not there the code errors out. How can I make it so that if the "Dload" is not there the macro says "Dload tab missing. Do you want to check file and try again" If the user says yes. then the macro lets the user pick another file. If the user chooses No then does similar quesiton like I have here starting with

Handle Find Macro Error When Text Is Not Found

Mar 1, 2008

I have the following macro which I've pieced together which works great at clearing the cell as long as the text entered by the user is found in the specified column.

Unfortunately I'm a big rookie with this stuff and I can't figure out how to handle the process/error when an entered value is not found. When ChosenRow returns with a 0 I get a Run time error '91', Object Variable or With Block variable not set.

The code...

Private Sub CommandButton1_Click()
oldSheet$ = ActiveSheet.Name
Dim ChosenRow As Long
Dim loc As Variant
Application. ScreenUpdating = False
With UserForm4
loc = .TextBox1.Text
End With
With ActiveWorkbook
Sheets("Reference").Select
End With

Error Checking Routine - Check Range Values On Various Worksheets And Report If Error

May 29, 2014

Error Check Marco.xlsm

see attached example. I am trying to write an error detection routine that iterates through worksheets that have numeric values for names (ignore text names or alphanumeric). Macro checks range on each numeric worksheet E3:E33 and is supposed to report back on the SummarySheet if any value other than 1 or 0 is found in range E3:E33 on any numeric-name worksheet. Code as follows:

[Code] ....

Problem is that it just reports EVERY worksheet as having an error when clearly most don't (none do I think in the attached example).

Try changing some of ranges E3:E33 to values other than 1 or 0, it still reports all sheets. Why the macro does not evaluate the range E3:E33 properly and just reports every worksheet as having an error?

Error Handle To Return Object Causing Error

Apr 13, 2006

whether I can handle errors in a way that tells me which object caused the error?

For example if a userform has two combobox's and one causes an error, can I return to a message box containing the name of the object (combobox1 or combobox2)?

I have tried returning err.source but I am either not using it correctly or it isn't intended to be used this way.

Handle Run Time Error With Find Method

Oct 11, 2007

I have searched the Forum for help on this error 91 but still cannot figure this out.

Below is a format macro I created. I have several ' Find' routines in here and at the beginning of each one I give it an 'On Error GoTo' type statement. This seems to work fine until it gets to a second error. I have moved various 'Find' routines around and it doesn't matter which order they are in, if there are two things it can't find, it gives the error 91 on the second.

Sub Format_SFDC_Detail_Reports()
'
' Macro to format salesforce.com reports with details. rguest
'

On Error Goto errorhandler

Msg = "Do you want to format this report for Landscape (Yes) or Portrait (No)?"
Style = vbYesNoCancel + vbQuestion + vbDefaultButton1 + vbSystemModal
Title = "Format Report as Landscape?"
response = MsgBox(Msg, Style, Title)

If response = vbCancel Then
'Exit the routine
Goto last_line:
End If
If response = vbYes Then
format_style = "Landscape"
End If
If response = vbNo Then
format_style = "Portrait"
End If

Project Routine List: Printout Of Each Routine Name And Which Module It Resides In

Feb 22, 2007

I am in the process of re-building a major project due to bugs. In the process, I plan to re-organize my sub-routine grouping within modules. In the source file, I have 18 standard modules, with 10-30 routines in each one.

What I would like is a printout of each routine name and which module it resides in, so I can check off each one as I copy it and paste it into the new file. I see that I can get a psuedo tree-view of my project in th eObject Browser, but can't figure out how to print that.

Find String Within Worksheet & Handle Error If Not Found

Jun 17, 2008

this line

Cells. Find(What:=searchterm, After:=Cells(1, 1), MatchCase:=False).Activate 'find pn that is stored in searchterm

causes a runtime error 91 when there are no results. "Object variable or with block variable not set"

Ideally, when there are no results, I would like to enter a loop, where I could provide a drop down list of fuzzy matches, but I am not sure excel can do fuzzy matches. I'd settle for just highlighting the row and moving on... any help?

Option Explicit

Sub Macro1()

ActiveSheet.Cells.Find(What:="AES", After:=Cells(1, 1), MatchCase:=False).Activate 'find the aes part number column
Dim aescolumn 'create variable for index value of aes column
aescolumn = ActiveCell.Column 'set variable to index number

Excel 2010 :: Error Handling Routine Which Stores Name Of File

Jun 3, 2014

I have written a VBA procedure which loops through excel files in an array: in turn it opens the file, refreshes the data, saves the file and closes. I would like to write an error handler which stores the file which errored (copied from the loop iteration) and the error description to an array. The error handler should then close the file and continue with the next iteration - e.g.

Code:
If ActiveWorkbook.ReadOnly Then
ActiveWorkbook.Close
Next i
*Although a generic if error may be better.

My idea is that all files which errored in some way will be stored in an array which I can automatically print/send to a user so they can manually figure out the problem. (This element falls outside the range of this query).

Below is a simple example of my efforts which only contains one file in the array to make things simpler: the error handler section won't work, it's just there to show my thinking

Code:
Sub Refresh_CRIS()
On Error GoTo Errorhandler
Dim routepath As String
routepath = "
chdfsSharedAreaPrivateTest"
ChDir routepath

[Code] ........

Errorhandler:
On Error Resume Next
Failed = Array(i)
If ActiveWorkbook.ReadOnly Then 'Just an example for testing
ActiveWorkbook.Close
Else
MsgBox "Pivots which failed to refresh:" & Failed '& ", ", 0, "Debug" 'Test with msgbox
End If
End Sub

Change For A Macro/Routine

Sep 29, 2009

I received a great little routine from you guys to a question which was a follows

Can Excel do this?
I have a huge spread sheet - The formulas in each cell reads as follows:
='[1.xls]Community Libraries'!$A$9. I would like to copy the cell all the way down the column, but only 1.xls must change to 2.xls and 3.xls etc. Can Excel copy this way?. I'm using Excel 07 on this pc

The response was:

Sub PutFormula()

For i = 1 To 80
Range("A" & i).Formula = "='[" & i & ".xls]Community Libraries'!$A$9"
Next

End Sub

Can this be modifed to:
A) Start on row 6 and end on row 85 of each Column A to CZ
B) Modify the end bit of the formula as follows Community Libraries'!$A$9&"/10"

Handle #N/A! In VLOOKUP Macro

Nov 7, 2006

I am doing a vlookup accross two sheets where I am adding up the first Vlookup with the second vlookup (ie vlookup sheet 1 + vlookup sheet2) and in one of the sheets the vlookup formula finds a value but in the other sheet it finds nothing. As such when the two formulas are added together it gives a value of #N/A. Since I have made a macro for this it is annoying.

The macro is as follows:

Sub Vlookup()
Dim rowc As Long
Dim i As Long

Application. ScreenUpdating = False

rowc = Application.WorksheetFunction. CountA( Range("a:a"))
For i = 2 To rowc
Cells(i, 3) = "=-VLOOKUP(RC[-2],Hksaldo!C[-2]:C[3],6,FALSE)+VLOOKUP(RC[-2],Likv!C[-2]:C[2],5,FALSE)"
Next i

End Sub

how I can get around this. Ie when I have a non applicable value i one of the Vlookup formula the formula should only look at the vlookup with a value?

Passing Variables From A Macro To Sub-Routine?

Nov 1, 2012

In my code I am using several variables to create a concatenated string and this is making my code quite lengthy..Now I have manged to use it in the SELECT CASE but it still remains big..

SO I was thinking if it were possible to break it into smaller parts and create a Sub-Routine which can be called in the Main code in the select case for the specific condition this way I can use it in Multiple places without hassles..

find the code which I need passing the variables..

Code:
Sub Condition_I()
Dimm Search_Value as string
Dim INo As Long
Dim Whole_Text As String
Dim Lookup_No1 As String
Dim Lookup_No2 As String
Dim Condition_I_Text As String
Dim WksI As Worksheet

I need to pass the Search_Value from the Main Code and also the whole_text back to the Main Code..

Excel 2010 :: Color Fill And Font Reset Macro Routine?

Aug 12, 2012

In Excel 2010, you can color a cell with a fill color and a font color.

It can be done manually via one of 3 methods that I know of (aside from a macro or a routine):

-From the ribbon button (underneath the font size and increase and decrease font size toolbar buttons)

-By formatting the cell (right clicking on a cell),

-Clicking on the ribbon's font section (giving you the same 6 category format cell box as right clicking on a cell)

What I need is a routine that resets the Fill Color and Font Color toolbar buttons to "No Fill" and "Automatic" if I run it inside a macro or create a command button on a worksheet.

Once this has been done, go back to the original sheet and find the next cell in the original column with the specified text string and repeat until the range has been satisfied. Below is the script I have that sort of works.

I have headers, so the first row of data starts in row 2, and the last no matter what will be in row 100 (so 99 rows of actual data technically). There are usually only 10 rows of actual data as the rest are usally set to blanks with iferror. The code below works, but I need it to run for however many rows of actual data there are.

Calling Routine From A Class In Add-in?

Feb 4, 2014

I've got three workbooks that end users will be using for data entry. The VBA code for the three workbooks is identical.

I'm trying to encapsulate the code into an add-in so I only have one copy of the code that I have to debug/maintain.

Furthermore, I've also encapsulated the code in the add-in into a class. The class isn't really a "usual" object modelling some data; rather, it's a utility class processing Worksheet_Change and Worksheet_Activate events. Hopefully this isn't a really bad idea, rather than keeping the code in standard modules in the add-in.

The application is called "Midas". Here are some code excerpts:

Midas.xlam:

Standard Module:

[Code] ......

Class Module:

[Code] .....

And in the end user workbook:

[Code] .....

The Wbk_SheetChange event handler is triggering, but it's looking for the code in the end user workbook, instead of the class. Is there a way I can change

[Code] .....

to call the private routine "Cases_Changed" (where "Cases" is the sheetname) residing in the class instead of looking for it in the workbook?
