Evaluate Formula Derived Empty String In SUMPRODUCT?
Dec 10, 2013I've been trying to get this SumProduct formula to return anything except an error for a while now.
=SUMPRODUCT(('Main Log'!$E$13:$E$17>=$C$2)*('Main Log'!$I$13:$I$17
I've been trying to get this SumProduct formula to return anything except an error for a while now.
=SUMPRODUCT(('Main Log'!$E$13:$E$17>=$C$2)*('Main Log'!$I$13:$I$17
I have the following in VBA:
Code:
ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 = _
"=mod_a1&"" ""&mod_b1&"" ""&mod_c1&"" ""&mod_d1&"" ""&mod_e1&"" ""&mod_f1&"" ""&mod_f1&"" ""&mod_g1&"" ""&mod_h1&"" ""&TEXT(mod_i1,""m/dd/yyyy"")&"" ""&mod_j1&"" ""&TEXT(mod_k1,""h:mm:ss"")"
I only want the user to see the string, not the concatenation formula. So how do I get VBA to turn this formula into an actual string.
I have seen some functions using ByVal and Evaluate with this sort of thing but this is just different enough that I can't figure it out.
I cant see the wood for the trees! I have this formulae which works just how I want
ACO2 = Evaluate("= SumProduct((K2:K3=""Closed"") * (EG2:EG3=""06-15 Days""))")
However when I change this to a dynamic range I keep getting a syntax error. Can anyone see where I have gone wrong? I know its probably only a " or an ) out of place but its driving me mad!!!
ACO2 = Evaluate("=SumProduct(((Range("K2:K" & Lrow)=""Closed"") * ((Range("EG2:EG" & Lrow)=""60 Days+""))")
AC02 is an integer, as is Lrow (its a simple loop which works out how many rows there are).
I have a table that looks similar to the below. I want to be able to extract the numbers between the brackets and add all up in the last column (as shown in example below).
I have used something like the below however it returns #VALUE in column F because of the empty cells.
(SUMPRODUCT(REPLACE(A1:F5,1,FIND("(",A1:F5),"(")+0))
I need a formula that will be applicable even when there are empty cells and return the results as shown.

I have two tables, one summary sheet which contains a list of 30 projects. The second sheet has the projects broken down by task and status ("on time" or "late"), so it has three columns (project, task and status). I am trying to add up the number of projects within each task that are either "on time" or "late" and put these in two columns, so that the sum of each together will always equal 30.
The trouble is that any given task can appear multiple times for a project, and if one instance of that task is late, I want to count the whole project late for that task. Here is a table of what I am trying to do:
Project Task Status
A1 MU On time
A1 MU Late
A1 FA On time
B2 FA On time
B2 MU On time
B2 MU On time
The desired result of this scenario is that under task "MU" I would show a count of 1 projects on time (B2), and one that is late (A1). For task "FA" I would show a count of 2 projects "on time" (A1 and B2) and none for "late"
I think that an array formula is needed where it assigns a 1 to a project and task that is on time, and a 0 if it is not, and then multiplies these figures for each project and adds them up.
Question is...in the below formula the red are pointing back to name ranges in a different tab on my spreadsheet. On that spreadsheet I also have a name range called DTCCSUBSUPPREF
I would like to add within my formula, a string which will point to that name range and exclude values if they fit my criteria. Basically I need to see values only where comp or tri dont show up. comp or tri could be the only value in the cell, or could be in the beginning of a string, at end, or in between. Below examples. I have tried (--(DTCCSUBSUPPREF<>"*comp*")*(--(DTCCSUBSUPPREF<>"*tri*") , and I would have thought the * characters would have served as a catch all.
Below is the entire forumla just in case.

How can I evaluate just the first part of these stirings so I can just do something like Left("Ca",2)?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am currently working on creating a dialogue which will allow the user to input a range of worksheets to use for a pivot table.
I want the user to be able to input a variable into the dialogue. For example, I want the input "n-5 - n-1" to mean the 6th from last to the 2nd from last sheets. I am trying to find n - ([0-9]+)? and replace it with Worksheets.Count - $1. In other words, if there are 10 sheets, I want to transform "n-5 - n-1" into "5 - 9".
Here is the code I have so far:
[Code] ....
This has been working for strings like "n" or "n-4" but not "4 - n-3" or "n-5 - n-1".
Here is the code I use afterwards to interpret the string once the n's have been replaced:

I'm new to Regex and VBA in general.
I want to be able to use a macro to read cells from a certain column so that it will evaluate a text string untill it hits a blank space, then copy the text that it found. I'd like it to work on Excel 2003 or later
View 9 Replies View RelatedI m trying to evaluate part of a string to determine if a number and if 6 char's in length. If Yes, return the 6 digit number, else 0
My formula below returns a #VALUE! error
It worked before I added the 6 char length condition, but sometimes return values of greater length that I do not need.
=IF(AND(ISNUMBER(VALUE(LEFT(C1809, FIND(" ",C1809)-1))),LEN(VALUE(LEFT(C1809,FIND(" ",C1809)-1)))=6),VALUE(LEFT(C1809,FIND(" ",C1809)-1)),0)
I'm wanting to lookup the content of a cell, which is a string, "Name", resulting from a formula within that cell.
For example the first code is referencing the cell output from the second formula.
Code:
=VLOOKUP(N2,RandomTab!$A$2:$E$60,5,FALSE)
where N2 is
Code:
=UPPER(VLOOKUP(B2,OtherTab!$A$1:$H$68,8,FALSE))
presently it, the first VLOOKUP, returns #N/A
I need a way for tell Excel to NOT evaluate a formula. Basically, I want Excel to leave the value being displayed in the cell alone. The formula in the cell is a function that I have implemented in C++ and registered with Excel through the Register call.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have 2 sheets (book1.xls and book2.xls) book1 has over 20 sheets and has my primary data. Book2 is for a report. The report I want to only display one sheet at a time, by me typing in which sheet to access.
What I want to have:
A2 = Sheet Name
C2 = ="'C:Excelfiles[book1.xls]"&$A$2&"'!$B$1" C2 should have the value from B1 on 'Sheet Name' from the file book1.xls
however, all C2 will display is the text, I cannot get it to actually do the reference. (appears as 'C:Excelfiles[book1.xls]Sheet Name'!$B$1 )
Is there a function to say, evaluate data output from another cell?
(less complicated example)
A1=1
A2=2
A3=A1+A2
A4=3 (formula to evaluate output of A3)
can I put formula to cells on relative basis?
For instance can I write "=A1 + B1" and have a change event the formula populate for the corresponding column that changes? such that a change in C7 for instance populated the result of the formula for A7 + B7 in cell D7?
I am trying to use an If statement and wanting to evaluate another formula.
The formula is as follows: =IF(B6>=7,Table!M16,Table!M47) where B6 =REPLACE(D24,1,3,"") which returns an integer. In this case it is 6.
Unfortunately it doesn't process the formula value correctly in the If statement unless the reference cell is hard coded with the integer. Is there a way to force the formula to evaluate the value of the cell formaula first before doing the If comparison?
In cell A1 is 13.00, the result of a formula.
In cell A2 is the formula =IF(A1>14.00,True,False)
The result of this formula is TRUE
In cell A3 is the formula =15-A1
The result of this formula is 2
why the formula in cell A2 would evaluate to the wrong conclusion? All cells are formated as numbers.

Using excel 2007 and I noticed some differences between how a caluation is done via PEMDAS (as I understand it) and evaluating vai excel.
The formula is just an example and doesnt relate to anything as such.
The formula is: 2*6+3-4/2-5+20/5*3+50
using [URL] the formula show the calculation as I would have calculated.

When using excel it does it in a different order

I have trying to write a sumproduct formula, however, the total sum amount that i get is "0", which i think the formula is not picking up the text.
=SUMPRODUCT(($Y$2:$Y$65536="Evaporative cooler*")*($Q$2:$Q$65536=$AM$5)*($N$2:$N$65536=6),($AA$2:$AA$65536))
Y column is the text column to find the Evaporative cooler, the Q is another column where i have write the text out at AM5, N is a number field. The only bracket that is not working is the Y. Can you please let me know if I did anything wrong to it?
There are 3 types of Evaporative cooler, 1) Evaporative cooler - phoenix, 2) Evaporative cooler - Cal, 3) Evaporative cooler - Brisa. I wondered if I can use "*" to select all of the Evaporative cooler, instead of listing all three.
Is a Cell with a formula (like shown below) considered true, or is it empty?

If Scorecard!$B$13 was False...
Would a cell with the above formula be considered?
True or Empty?

A cell with the above formula would be True.

I would like to know whether by checking my formula that i am using....
View 9 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to make a cell "really" blank/empty based on an If statement? For instance:
=if(a1>10,a1,"")
Has a value_if_false of "". But Excel interprets this a bit differently than a cell that never had anything typed into it.
So if you have a column full of this formula copied down, and hit <control+down arrow>, you will go straight to the bottom and skip over all rows. Whereas if you have a column with values and empty cells alternating and hit <control+down arrow>, you will only skip the empty cells and go to the next value. Excel treats the conditionally empty cells as if they have a value, when it comes to this type of navigation. This holds even if you copy and paste "Values" for the cells over the formulas.
Is there any way to tell Excel to make the cells truly empty?
I would like to express an empty string with the expression .

I don't know what is the error?
I'm working with some data exported from a database. Unfortunately, when data is exported to excel, cells that should be completely blank (i.e. ISBLANK formula would return TRUE) actually contain empty strings.
What is the fastest way to replace the empty string with a true null?
The goal of this chart is to show how sales are adding up relative to bonus levels for the month. The problem for me is in getting the right axis tick marks, labels and chart lines to match the values in Columns C and D. This need may be further complicated because the target amounts increase by a fixed percentage (11% in this sample, but it can vary).
View 4 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to have a sheet name derived from a cell?
I am creating a workbook where the users will be able to edit a list of names, and add certain data to each person. There will then be a separate sheet for each person that gives analysis if their individual data. The user will change the names in the list as people come and go, and want the sheet names to match.
I'm trying to sum each months visa purchases. The data is in three columns: date,value and payment type.
I can't get this formula to work:-
{=SUM(IF(AND(Purchases!C6:C999>DATE(2009,12,28),Purchases!C6:C999<DATE(2010,1,29)),IF(Purchases!K6:K 999="Visa",Purchases!H3:H999)))}
It's returning a value of 0 (and if that were true I'd be delighted!)
Let's say I have three cells; A1, B1, C1. A1 = a random number (RandBetween 0 and 100) B1 = If(A1>99,1,0). I want to increment C1 everytime I refresh the randbetween via f9 so that the first time A1 returns a value of over 99, C1 picks up a value of 1 from B1 and then the next time I get a value of A1 over 99, C1 adds the value of 1 from B1 to its existing total, giving a total of 2 etc etc etc.
Essentially, what I want is: If A1>99,C1=C1+1. I can't work out how to get C1 to hold its value when I refresh the sheet. I realise it's probably pretty simple, but it would appear that so am I.
