i have the text as string data in column A and it is just a text not date format. i want to convert this using formula text function to get result shown in column B and C. is this doable?

I have a spreadsheet where we will be inserting the Arabic Hijri date taken from a Customs document (bayan). On my spreadsheet I'd like to have a column immediately next to the Hijri date that would convert the Hijri date to the Gregorian date so both dates will be visible for our Arabic and Western personnel who will be using the spreadsheet.
I have a Column of dates in this format: 5/19/2014 8:08:44 AM I am trying to get this to read 20140519 or yyyymmdd It doesn't matter what format I change to, it will not update unless I activate the cell and then tab or enter out of it. I have 3000 rows to convert. with this either by setting or VB Sub?
When I combine 3 reports (which we get out of a system) into 1 big file, the date format remains the same (mm/dd/yyyy and right alligned). Same happens for most of my colleagues.
When 1 particular colleague goes and combine these reports, I've noticed that some of the dates are showing as text? (dd/mm/yyyy and left alligned).

I am trying to convert text in a cell from: 03/08/2014 2330 to a date that looks like this: 03/08/2014 23:30. Then I also need to extract just the time only and put that in a new cell.
I can do it in a few steps by using Data -> Text To Columns, formatting the date and time separately, and then putting them back together again.

How do you convert a range of dates in this format: 39843 (i.e today 30th of Jan 2009). To text like: 20080130. Secondly, For the same date, how do you make the weeknum function give answer '05' and not just '5'
I have column A set up to display dates in the following format: 03/04/2009. While the "look" is fine for the values in the column, I cannot get it to stay in that format when it is moved to a text file. It simply converts the display back to 39876.
I would like a macro that 1) looks at all values in column A and 2) converts each cell in the column to text format but leaves the contents so they are dates 03/04/2009 (mm,dd,yyyy).
i'm trying to convert a column (P) from date dd-mmm-yy, subtract 5 days, and paste value as YYMM using a macro. I've borrowed bits from other macros and producted this but it's not working (and i've played around with it to the point it doesn't make sense anymore!)

I'm copying data from another source to excel, and for certain date entries they come as text in the following format "On 14 May at 8:00". Is there anyway to convert multiple entries like this into a standard date format? With or without time is fine - just the date will do.

I have a problem converting hourly data into daily data for electricity import capacity. My file has the following form: | Connection | Date | Period | Available (capacity) | Where 'Connection' identifies the physical location of the capacity (4 possibilities, Germany -> Netherlands; Norway -> Nehterlands; Belgium -> NL; UK -> NL), 'Date' refers to the date, Period refers to hour of the day (e.g. 18:00-19:00) and 'Available' refers to the import capacity of electricity on that conncetion during that hour. I need daily aggregates and tried several things such as DSUM but I cannot manage I've shortened the attached file quite a bit because of the upload size restriction. I am using Excel 2010. I've tried some suggestions in similar topics but none worked for me.
I have userform with date pickers and have text boxes overlaid on these, when I select todays date from the date picker it does not display the current date in the text box (I have 8 date pickers on the userform). If I select another date then reselect the current date it works. It has occasionally worked but why.

I'm using Excel 2010. I need to populate a daily calendar with the number of nights spent, extracted from the Date of Arrival and Date of Departure of individuals.
I import data from a program that exports dates and times as text. I have been successful using "text to columns" to separate the time from the date and then using =text(A1,"00:00")+0 to get the time to show as serial time but I'd love to be able to do the whole date/time string in one step. In cell A1 there is data that is general format and is in this format:
01/01/13 00001
No matter how you try to format it, it is not a date or time. For this project I need the serial number for the date/time. Any formula that will format it as date/time and then allow it to show as a serial date/time?
I am my excel worksheet (excel 2010) I have one cell that changes every day (number). I want this number to open my htm document and replace the same number in a string in the htm and save/close this.
An example: My htm document is located at C:/ and named XX.htm
The number I want from excel is in cell A1 in sheet1, and the worksheet is located in D:/ named yy.xlsx

I have a userform which requires the user to enter the date a training course was completed. Initially I used DatePicker as I was running Excel 2010 and had that working, however the workbook I am creating will be used on about a dozen machines, all of which have different versions of Excel. To avoid needing calendar Add-ins to be downloaded and installed for this feature I decided to go the vba created calendar route. I am using one I found on this forum: [URL] .....
It works well for me using the example spreadsheet provided in the post but I am having some difficulty incorporating it into my code. I believe I have imported the appropriate forms and modules because I can get the date populate to the Label Box on my userform but when I try to put the Date into the spreadsheet along with other data such as name and course duration, the name and course duration populate but the date cell remains blank and execution completes without error.
I have tried playing around with the data type thinking I had some issue using the .Value attribute with a String but .Text gives me an error as does converting from String to Number format.
