Excel 2010 :: Dropdown Calendar To Work When Click In Any Cell In Specified Column
May 2, 2014
I am currently using a pop up calendar in Excel 2010 that with CTL+SHIFT+B that a calendar pops up, you select your date, and then the calendar closes. What I now need is to write a code or formula or something that when I click in any cell in column F lets say that the calendar opens automatically in that cell and then still close automatically after the date selection is made.
Using excel 2010, how do you insert a drop down calendar? Will this be able to display the date and then can I add a nuber to it and the result be a date
Using Excel 2010, I set up a simple workbook with a spreadsheet on one page and the ranges for data validation on another. I successfully linked the fields in the "Category" and "Tender" columns with the data on the second sheet, making nice drop down menus. Everything works fine on my computer. However, when we open the workbook on a different station, the drop down menus disappear. If you highlight any of the "Category" or "Tender" fields, the little drop down prompt is missing; they behave like regular, un-formatted fields. It appears that the data validation became un-linked.
We tried opening versions with certain fields locked (Mainly the Total, Breakdown, and Summary areas, but the fields with data validation were still editable), and also completely unlocked documents. Every time, the drop down lists were lost when opened on different stations.
I've attached the completely unlocked version : 00_FLEX TRAVEL EXPENSE REPORT_v3.xlsx
Forget to check a box or something? This seems way harder for me to figure out that it should be!
How to insert a Calendar Dropdown for Mac Excel 2011? Also, do I have to readjust this (for lack-of-a-better-word) 'add-in' everytime the calendar year changes? This will be used for a payroll template.
I'm using Excel 2010. I have developed a calculator (attached) to make life easier for my colleagues. It works perfectly fine. But one thing keeps bugging me.
In Cell C3 - You have the option to choose "Daily" or "Weekly" (Drop Down). This selection effects your selection for Cell C6.
If you choose Daily in Cell C3 then your options for Cell C6 are restricted to select/enter an amount between £0.00 and £6.00.
If you choose Weekly in Cell C3 then your options for Cell C6 are restricted to select/enter either £0.00 or £12.00.
This works perfect.
However, if I select "Weekly" and then select " £12.00", all my results are perfect which is exactly what I want BUT if I then go back up to C3 and change "Weekly" to "Daily", the £12.00 in C6 remains (though the data validation for "Daily" is restricted to £0.00- £6.00) and all the results are consequently wrong until C6 is changed.
The obvious thing is to delete the £12.00 from Cell C6 or introduce a "clear" button BUT I don't want my colleagues to do this as it leaves the possibility of error and since we are dealing with money, I can't have it.
So what I would love and what would complete this calculator and deem it ready is if every time Cell C3 is selected (i.e. from the drop down list you choose Weekly or Daily) it as a result resets Cell C6 to £0.00.
I select the date from drop down calendar in excel and linked with one cell. when i use the date in vlookup formula it does not work due to linked cell date format.
I have read through numerous posts, but cannot get one thing to work. I am using Excel 2003, and am trying to get a calendar to pop up, to select a date, and then return that date to Cell B2.
I was successful at making the calendar pop up by the following methods: 1. Added a button to the toolbar, and assigned the Calendar Macro to it. 2. Using VB, added a sub-menu item to the right-click (context) menu, using the code below.
Private Sub Workbook_Open() Application.OnKey "+^{C}", "Module1.Macro2" End Sub However, my goal is to make the calendar appear when I click on cell B2. I tried using the following code, but when I click on B2 nothing happens.
Private Sub Worksheet_SelectionChange(ByVal Target As Range) If Target.Address = "$B$2" Then UserForm1.Show End Sub I also tried:
Private Sub Worksheet_BeforeDoubleClick(ByVal Target As Excel.Range, Cancel As Boolean) With Worksheets(ActiveCell.Worksheet.Name) If ActiveCell.Column = 2 Then If ActiveCell.Row = 1 Then UserForm1.Show End If End If End With End Sub
I want a drop down calender to choose date from and found that i can use More Controls> "microsoft Date and Time Picker 6.0 (SP4)" for excel 2007 but it doesn't work with other excel and shows a "x" not recognised in some other machines.
I have a vba script with forms that use the calendar object no longer supported in Office 2010, so I found a suitable substitute and replaced every instance of the calendar I could find across all the forms with the new solution. All seemed to work great. But when I closed the application and then reopened it, it threw an error saying there was a missing library.
When I went to the references it showed me that the Calendar object was missing. I have scoured the application for every possible instance and eliminated it, but apparently there is one or more still out there lurking in the weeds somewhere. Is there someway to search for the control that is tripping this error?
I am using Excel 2010. I am tracking client orders on a spreadsheet. I would like to offer a 60 percent rebate on revenue from orders placed between the first order date and 30 calendar days thereafter. On day 31 and continuing through day 60, I would like to offer a 40% rebate. On orders placed on day 61 through 90, I would like to offer a rebate of 20%. From all of the orders placed by clients who start ordering on different dates, I need to sum their order revenue in these three time periods. I have the individual client order data arrayed on my spreadsheet - one order per row.
I am capturing the unique client ID number (Column A), the order date (Column B), and the associated revenue (Column C). Keying off of their unique ID number, I would like to calculate the sum of how much revenue is generated in calendar days 1 through 30, days 31 through 60, and days 61 through 90 from the very first order date from any given client. The start date can be any date in the month, so I can not rely on any calculation that uses the calendar month. Orders are not necessarily placed every day. Multiple orders may be placed on any given day, and then no orders may follow for many days afterward.
In Excel 2010 onwards (probably 2007 as well) there are two right click context menus that pop up on a cells.
The "Cell" command bar and also a smaller formatting bar.
What is this bar called and if you remove it how do you get it back when you have removed all the standard bars.
VB: Application.Commandbars("Cell").Reset
The above doesn't seem to get back the formatting bar. I did managed to get it back but through luck rather than judgement. Just through looping through every commadbar and printing it to the immediate window.
I've added the name of the context menu to each commadbar but the formatting one does not get a name put at the bottom of it. I've looked on this site and it doesn't seem to say anything about this new menu.
We just upgraded our machines to Excel 2010 and now I'm having an issue with copying forumlas down. In Excel 2007 (and 03) if you double clicked in the bottom right corner of a cell, Excel would autofill your formula (or data set) down until the last row of data in your range. Have tried all the settings in 2010 and can't get it to work. All I'm able to do is do a manual copy/paste or highlight all the cells and select fill down.
I'm using Excel 2010 and when I highlight a range and right click 'name a range' is greyed out. I can bypass this by going to the formulas tab and defining a name from there.
Anything I can check to see why this is not an option for me?
I'm trying to auto populate a calender style sheet in Excel 2010 based on data from a Work Schedule sheet. The work schedule sheet contains a list of jobs, with each row representing a different job. There is a column for the start date (e.g. 25/04/14) and a column for the end date (e.g. 26/04/14). There are other columns which select resources such as people and vehicles. Each resource may appear on any one of several columns for each row, e.g. Site Operative 1, Site Operative 2 etc.
On the calendar sheet, in which one cell represents one day (e.g. 25/04/14), all the dates are shown along the top going right and all the resources are shown on the left going down.
On the calender sheet, in every cell I want a formula that will look at the Work Schedule sheet and see if that particular resource is being used on that particular date. If it does, the cell can display information from another cell such as the job number or job name to which the resource is assigned; if it doesn't, the resource isn't being used so it can display "Free" or "Available".
I'm using excel 2010 on a pc. I need to create a calender. So far I have been using the tutorial for the pop up calender. The result I'm looking for is to set up a specific time frame and have the calender provide the "due" date. I would like the due date to exclude weekends and holidays. Would I be able to do this with the pop up calender?
I have an issue with the excel freeze in our organisation.
Our organisation works on Citrix and the office applications have been upgraded to 2010 very recently. We have both 2003 excel users and 2010 excel users. There is a user who has a problem working on excel 2010 the excel freezes.Excel 2010 works fine for some time and all at a sudden hangs, once its hung it freezes all the other applications.
The same file runs properly on the other 2010 systems. The Excel file which hangs are also not of huge in size.
I am unable to get to the rootcause of the issue why the excel freezes or hangs in the middle of the work getting to the root cause of the issue and an answer for the excel hanging.
I am working in Excel 2010 (Windows 8) and am having real problems trying to find a function/formula that will work with both numbers and text. I am trying to identify if the contents of Col A cells and Col C cells on each row are duplicated within a worksheet, and if they are, to add a 'J'.
(Column A is a list of numerical company codes and Column C is a list of adviser codes using the letter A-G. If a company ID code has more than one of the same adviser codes referenced to it, it is termed 'Joint', hence the 'J').
The formula I've used is: =IF(A2:C2, FREQUENCY>1, "J")
Hope this is fairly easy to solve. I have Screen #1 with a listbox with a CLICK event. The event populates a combobox below (with items based on listbox's selection). Listbox is NOT multi-select. Code runs fine manually, i.e., user opens screen selects from listbox, then can select from combobox.
I now what to open and make selections from another form/screen, Screen #2. I've written code to select the proper item from Screen #2's listbox but this does NOT trigger the listbox's CLICK event for me so the combobox isn't populated so I can then make that selection from Screen #1, also. I've tried setting focus to listbox first, then making selection, but that doesn't work.
QUESTION: Is there code that selects from a listbox in a way that mimics the user clicking the selected item in the listbox?
The alternatives I can think of are: 1) Change Screen #2's listbox code from CLICK to CHANGE event, but I'd rather not. 2) Move CLICK event code to sub-procedure and then call from both listbox CLICK and Screen #2 code 3) Some sendkey string like ENTER?
Would be easier to just mimic the user click, if possible.
With frm_Screen2 'Select item type from listbox With .LBox_Items
First I made some contents and drew a border from Home > Font > all Borders on an Excel 2010 file. So it became like below image (capture1). After that I wanted to print it so went to File > Print to see its preview. But the problem is that the lines between tue and wed and also between mon and tue are not shown neither in preview nor when printing. The height of row 7 until 17 is 24 (that is 32 pixel) but heights of the rest of the rows are normal (20 pixel).
My company recently upgraded everyone to Microsoft 2010 from 2007 version. I have no substantial VBA skill and left with a VBA code which is supposed to extract a list of outlook emails sitting in a shared mailbox into Excel.
I was using that VBA code in Outlook 2007 and it worked fine but shows the following error when run in Outlook 2010: 'Run-time error '-2147221233 (8004010f)': The attempted operation failed. An object could not be found. Here is part of the code:
[Code] .....
It worked after one of the members suggested to "click on any line of this code and press F8 repeatedly until the yellow focus moves to the error line, don't press F8 anymore. Now in immediate window, copy paste each of below lines, press enter after each line. Let us know where the error occur." However, it stop working the next day.
I have csv file with tab delimited fields (see attached blacklist.csv). 3rd and 4th fields are in format dd/mm/yyyy hh24:mi:ss, some fields can be zero. I need to split data to columns and display datetime fields in format dd.mm.yyyy hh:mm:ss.
OK... open csv in Excel, select column A, press button "Split in columns", select tab as delimiter, choose date format (DMY) for 3rd and 4th field and press OK. Test is splitted into columns, now select columns C and D and select desired format "dd.mm.yyyy hh:mm:ss". Then I select columns A:E and set column widths to fit data in columns. This all is OK and without problems (see attached file Handmade.xlsx).
But now... Now I record all previous step into macro. There is macro text: [Code] ....
Now I copy macro text into clipboard and open blacklist.csv again. Insert button to list and bind it to new macro. Paste text of macro from clipboard. (See attached file blacklist_beforeClick.xlsm). Now click button Btn and voila... some dates remain in previous format, some dates seems to be in desired format, but day and month are swapped. Why are there differences when comparing data made by hand and data made by macro??? compare.jpg This is the same behavior in more computers, some use Czech version of Excel 2010, some use English version.
I've created a spreadsheet at work that has two summary tabs which contain hyperlinks to around 30 separate sheet tabs.
On each sheet tab there is a list of unique values in column A (and other information relating to each value in columns B to D which are repeated for more than one unique value). In column E, users enter a test script name against each unique value they wish to 'reserve', and the macro picks out the unique test script names and via the COUNTIF formula counts the frequency of each test script name for each of the different values in column B.
My problem is that the macro seems to work fine if the workbook is not shared, but errors if the workbook is saved as shared. The error is 'Run time error 1004 - Unable to select the MergeCells property of the Range class'.
Here is the macro code:
Sub Get_Policies_Per_Script(updCol As Long, ShtName As String) Dim rowctr As Long Dim tgtrow As Long
Const ppsformula As String = "=COUNTIFS($A$3:$A$65000,I$24,$E$3:$E$65000,$G"
If updCol = 5 Then 'test name column has been modified
Just recently My Excel 2010 has decided to not let me right click to format cells, delete or insert rows. I can do these functions from the ribbon, but not via right click. this happens in both existing spreadsheets where I am the author, or even a brand new spreadsheet like in the image below. we have restarted the computer, Uninstall and reinstalled Office and still get same symptoms. I got here thru google but cannot find an answer anywhere.
I am very computer literate and even our IT personnel have looked at this with no answer. as you can see in the image, these options are greyed out.
Excel 2010, Win 7. I have attached a .xlsm file to an email. The contained macros run perfectly, and one of them is "public" so it shows up in "Developer - Macros", and "Customize Quick Access Toolbar" lists.
If the recipient clicks and drags the attachment to a folder, or copy/pastes the attachment, it works fine. (Macros are enabled, etc.)
However, if the recipient right clicks on the email attachment, and selects "SAVE AS" from the item list, the file saves, has the right name and extension, looks ok (the icon has the exclamation point, etc), and it is the correct size, but it simply will not load. You can double click, do a file open, etc. but it will not load. It's a hidden workbook, but if you "open it" and Alt-F11 to show the VBA editor, it isn't there!
It's not stopping the project - we simply tell them to click/drag, etc. but I totally do NOT understand why that happens.
