I need to check, if in A1:BU1 are any duplicate words. All the formulas I found deal with finding duplicates downward (like A1:A1000). Have not seen any formula which works across (from left to right)
Is there an easy way in Excel 2010 either to tag/ and -or remove the duplicate which I could apply and then just copy downward? The formula must work from left to right, because many words repeat downward.
Columns A, B, C and D contan a list of Names, I want to be able to in column E list all the items in A,B,C and D with out duplicates. How would I do this?
I am having trouble creating a function to count duplicates of duplicates.
An example of the data table 1 is:
Product 1 2nd Product 1 2nd Product 1 New Product 1 New Product 1 Flt Product 2 2nd Product 2 New Product 2 New Product 2 Flt Product 2 Flt Product 3 2nd Product 3 2nd Product 3 2nd Product 3 New Product 3 Flt
I created a new table (table 2) and made a list of all the Products on table 1 and removed the duplicates. I now have 3 columns with titles New, 2nd and Flt as follows:
New 2nd Flt Product 1 XX XX XX Product 2 XX XX XX Product 3 XX XX XX
I am trying to count the duplicates for each product (XX), but I can't seem to work it out. I've tried the MS help function, but unsure of the actual formula I need to be using.
I have searched the many forum solutions for duplicates however the ones I found relate to a single column. However what I would like to be able to do is starting from row 6 is to remove duplicates of multiples columns of a single worksheet, namely columns M, O, P, Q and R. Note some cells in each column are blank.
To clarify - it would firstly check for duplicates in column M, keeping just one of the rows of the duplicated value and removing entiely the row/rows of where the duplications appeared. Then go through each of the other four columns. of the worksheet doing the same for each of the other four columns.
Then after the duplicates are removed from all five columns provide a tally at the bottom of the worksheet of how many times a value now appears in the cells of each of repective columns.
I am trying to tell the spreadsheet that if column G *and* column V are both identical to another row's column G and V, then the entire row is a duplicate and to highlight and delete it. I also want to record a macro of this process to apply to all spreadsheets.
Here are the tutorials I am looking at, but whatever I am doing is not working the way it is working for them.
Conditional Formatting, find duplicates with multiple columns [URL]...
I am highlighting cell A2, and under Conditional Formatting, I select "Formula Is" =SUM(COUNTIF($G:$G,G2),COUNTIF($V:$V,G2))>1
Then I select the format as light orange text, but it is only highlighting A2....
That is as far as I have gotten, and I still do not know how to go about deleting the duplicate entries. I have also read there are issues with recording a macro when trying to find duplicates using more than one column in the formula, but I have not gotten that far so I can't test it.
As is likely evident in my formula and process, I am not very experienced with Excel.
This is a very SMALL sample of the data I need to sort through. We have been using filters but the data is growning and becoming far too time consuming using the filter method.
The output I am looking to achieve is something like this, (any format is fine; whether in rows or columns)
SVR1 1.99.99.254 (2) CAT I (display how many CAT I for SVR1) CAT I: 2011-B-44 CAT I: ST-5546 (2) CAT II (display how many CAT II for SVR1) CAT II: 2011-B-52 CAT II: 2011-A-21
SVR2 2.5.2.333 (1) CAT I CAT I: 2012-E-55 (1) CAT II CAT II: 2011-A-21
COLUMN A, varies from SVR1-SVR1400 (cointains duplicates) COLUMN B, IP matches SVR name (contains duplicates) COLUMN C, will be either CAT I, CAT II, CATIII COLUMN D, will contain duplicates
I have some history of using formulas and nested formulas but this one is really throwing me for a loop. It feels like Inception to me and I'm not really sure where to start!
I have two lists that I need to compare and remove duplicates but the two list are not identical, ie. one list has four columns and the other one only has two columns.(Using Excel 2007)
I was able to write a OBject dictionary in a loop that removes dupes. During this build I did not take into account that I needed to restart the loop whenever the cell in column L is not the same as the next cell down.
I am using the follwoing code which works as it is supposed to except that it does not remove the duplicate entries, almost as though the code skips that step. How can I fix this?
I need to know if it is possible to combine these 2 formulas (1. (RIGHT(C23,0)&RIGHT(C23,4)) and 2. LEFT(E23,2)&":"&RIGHT(E23,2) into a single cell. I have a date time group that is in text format. I need to take the last 4 digits (the time) and pull it out into another. Then take that cell and convert it into an actual time ie 2:30.
example: 01may2014 0831 first formula pulls the 0831 into another cell. then the 2nd formula converts it into a time 8:31.
After this occurs, I can then subtract times from different categories in my spreadsheet.
My, problem, is that I cannot combine the two formulas. They work great by themselves. I am just trying to make formulas more compact and hopefully more efficient.
My business I work for is a collection agency and from time to time our clients send us files that are beyond recognizable for our collection software to understand nonetheless import into our database.
The file was a PDF at first but I have since been able to convert to excel format.
The data isn't too scrambled just scattered throughout rows. I would like to have rows of patient data into one row.
The file after being converted was all in row A but I have since used text to columns to divide into separate rows. However now one patient information is on multiple rows and I need each patient info on one row.
The file looks like:
|A---------|B-------|C----------| 1.John-----|Doe-----|123 Main St| 2.New York-|NY------| 3.11100----|SSN----|Balance Owed|
I would like the data from multiple rows to continue on row 1 like this:
|A--------|B-----|C------------|D----------|E--|F-----|G----|H-------------| 1.John----|Doe---|123 Main St.-|New York---|NY-|11100|SSN-|Balance Owed--|
I am no programmer in the least and have very little to no experience in pivot tables.
This file has about 7000 accounts with patient info spread through 3-4 rows for each set of data.
How I could go about doing this without manually copying and pasting into additional columns on the same row. That will take hours if not days.
I've been left with a macro built in 2010--but I need it to run in 2003.
I've identified a Remove Duplicates function as the cause of a bug, how to translate this to a 2003-friendly macro? This will be an action in a much longer macro. What I am trying to do is check for duplicates in a particular column (Column C), and remove any duplicate row (it doesn't matter which duplicate is removed).
I have three workbooks. Every workbook has 50 persons IT information. Those are CPU list, Monitor list, UPS list. I would like to create another workbook. Where all user's IT information will be available. Like X user's information required, under x information his CPU, monitor and UPS information link will be available. How to create link of the CPU, UPS monitor sheets with new workbook?
I have a wookbook with serial numbers in column A and barcodes in column B. There are 51940 rows in total.
Is there a way I can search through column A, and for each unique value found , concatenate all of the barcodes that relate to that serial number in column C?
I have a spread sheet with 2 columns that I have applied conditional formatting to to find duplicate values. So the duplicate cells are highlighted in red now.
Problem - I want to copy only those red cells to a new column in a new tab, and am having a devil of a time figuring out. Best case would be some sort of formula I could use on the new tab&column to do this.
Column A consists of a list of the barcodes I've scanned.
In column A there is sometimes more than one of the same barcode when i have more than one of the same product. is there a way of deleting duplicate barcodes in column a and replace them with a 'Quantity' column?
I am having trouble setting up a query for a recordset that will list duplicates for an automated process to clean up. I am using Excel 2010 with Microsoft ActiveX Data Objects Recordset 6.0 Library and Microsoft ActiveX Data Objects 6.1 Library as references.
So far, I have chopped the query down to it's most basic elements and reassembled until it broke. Necessary pieces work well, but when I combine them, I get nowhere.
Here is the working simple query to retrieve a single row:
Code: dupeSQL = "SELECT PSID FROM [Obstructed$] "
Here is the working single query to retrieve a count:
I've got 3 columns of formulas that end up doing what I need, but I'm thinking it could probably be done easier with VBA.
I have 1 book with a sheet I'll call Log & another book with a sheet I'll call Source. On the Log, column E has the first 9 characters of vendor names & /vendor number (ex: EDMUND FI/00250), along with other data out through column P. On Source, the vendor names are in C & a short code for their name is in A.
I need to compare the first 9 characters in Log col E with the first 9 characters in Source col C. When a match is found, I need to return the short code from Source col A. BUT - if there's a duplicate in either Source col C or A, instead I need to return the word VERIFY, preferably with the cell highlighted in red.
Right now, I have, on Source col L:
Code: =MID(C2,1,9) and in source M:
Code: =IF(OR(A2=A1,A2=A3,L2=L1,L2=L3),"VERIFY",A2) This gives me the first 9 characters of the vendor name in L & the short code OR VERIFY in M
Then, in Log col R, I have an array formula:
Code: =VLOOKUP(MID(E4,1,9),'[PRETICKET P ADDRESSES working.xls]Paddress'!$L:$M,2,FALSE)
This gives me either the short code or VERIFY from Source M. Also, sometimes it doesn't find a match & it returns #N/A. Then I have to do Conditional Formatting to make the VERIFY cells red & I thought I'd make the error cells be yellow (although I haven't figured out the CF for that yet)
Is there a better way to do this with VBA? I'm working with Excel 2010; just got it & still figuring it out.
With Excel 2010 a yellow warning bar is shown when opening a file with data connection. I don't want to show this warning to other users who will be opening the file, especially when they won't be able to update anything since the original data is on my computer. The logical way would be to remove or disable the connections before sending the file out. But when removing the data connections through Connection window all the pivot tables are converted to static tables, which is not acceptable. Is there any other solution to this? Maybe use a macro?
PS: I know that these warnings can be turned off though Trust Center, but I am not interested in changing these settings for other users.
