Assume that is the table i have. In row 1 i need conditional formatting such that if any of the columns contain an x the first row should be color coded. In my above example every column in row 1 will be color coded expect for row 1 column 6 since there are no x's for any any row in column 6.
How can i do this in excel. Also instead of x's if i have manually entered color can we do the same ?
I have been trying to make a macro to automatically calculate the quantity I need to increase or decrease our purchase orders.
As the On Hand quantity decreases I have set conditional formatting to determine how much we should order according to a percentage of the Stocking Level and turns the desired cell yellow. For each row the macro would need to identify which cell in columns L through O is yellow from conditional formatting, use that value and subtract the On Order quantity, then put the result in the Adjust PO Qty (+/-) column so I know how much to decrease the order if negative or increase if positive.
I have two columns. In column B is the date of "last check". I column A is the date of "next check". I would like to have cell A2 in yellow color 334 days after the date entered in cell A3 and than in red color 365 days after the date entered in cell A3. Same thing for cell B2 related to date entered in cell B3. Yellow color in cells announces that check will expire within 30 days and red color that check has been expired.
I have a spreadsheet that uses VB macros to calculate sums of cells based on the font color of the numbers inside. It used to be fairly easy going through each cell and "classifying" them by color, so that my macros can go ahead and sum the numbers in each respective color's cell... but now I have a huge amount of numbers and would like to automate the process somewhat. Here's an example using the A and B columns:
flight $400 hotel $150 hotel $130 meal $20 meal $15 flight $350
I tried using conditional formatting to automatically change the color of the adjacent cells based on the presence of a keyword such as "flight" or "hotel", but this change is only cosmetic, and doesn't actually change the font color (it is still the default black, hence why my color-summing macros won't work!).
I'm including a sample macro for what I use to color-sum my cells, but what I am looking to automate the color-coding process based on looking for keywords as explained above in my example. Here is one of the working color-summing macros (for red, in this case) if you'd like to use it as a reference:
Function SumRed(SelectedCells As Range) ' Adds the values of the cells where the font colour is red(3). Dim Cell As Object Dim x As Double
Via conditional formatting, I am searching to change the color of a specific word in a cell (not the color of everything in the cell, but only that specific word - and the word repeats in the cell). A function such as =isnumber(search("NOK";A1)) colors all the cell values, which I do not want to do. How i can perform this task?
I'm creating an excel document that tracks the amount of time someone has (in months) in the program. Certain residents are able to 'fast track' if they meet conditions, and I am trying to create this spreadsheet so that anyone who looks at it can tell who qualifies (and when).
The issue I'm having is with conditional formatting, because I don't know how to do it with mutliple conditions.
Column C is their previous time (months) in the program Column D is their current time (months) in the program Column E is their total time in the program (Sum C+D)
Coumn E is what I would like to format, based on the following rules set out in the program manual:
If previous time is 9 months or more, a resident is eligible to fast track after 6 months current time (format green). If previous time is less than 6 months, a resident is eligible to fast track after 9 months current time (format green).
I understand that their is an odd gap - but these are the rules currently set out by the program manual, which is what I have to follow.
I'm trying to discover the best way to accomplish formatting a cell by filling it a certain color based on 2 of 3 criteria of other cells.
Column A has the title of the field. Cells B1:D1 have one of 3 values: Nothing/blank, Complete, or x. If all of the x's are gone within the range of B1:D1, I'd like to automatically format cell A1 to fill in Blue (or any color).
I want to do conditional formatting based on two cell values.
i want to do conditional format the column 'R' based on clolumns 'J' and 'R'. column 'J' is a text column named PRIORITY which can hold the values P1,P2,P3 an P4. Column 'R' is nothing but difference of two columns 'M' and 'H'(both are time stamps).Column'R' is in below format. =TEXT(M4-H4,"h:mm:ss").
column M and H are in below format:
eg: 9/11/13 9:41 AM
Now i want to format the column'R' like if column J ="P2" and column 'R' > "00:10:00"(10 mins) =it should become red. if column J="P3" and column 'R'>"00:30:00"(30 mins) = it should become red.
This is my problem: A list with numbers in column A, these numbers can be used over multiple rows, sometimes 3, 5 or more/less. Every time this number changes, the color for the entire row should flip between yellow and no color. Sequence of the number in column A is not always odd / even. I tried various suggestions regarding this topic but I do not get it straight.
I have columns of figures with times like 5:52:54 and next to them cells with values that i wish to format based on the time. that is if the time on the adjacent cell is before 8AM then make the value cell have a red border it does not have to be conditional formatting - Excel 2002 in win7/64
I am trying to use the status of Conditional Formatting to toggle on/off protection for a cell.
I have a cell with Conditional Formatting applied if the result of a formula is true. If the Conditional Formatting is applied, I want the cell protection turned on so a user can not change the entry in the cell. If Conditional Formatting is not applied (false), cell protection is turned off and the user may edit.
I need to color format several matrices of about 1000 rows each in order to find a pattern. Each row needs to be formatted on a color-scale so that the maximum value in each row has the darkest color and the minimum value has the lightest, while others are lighter according to their weight. It can be done on a single row, but it does not work for multiple rows at once. I have tried format copying and range options but it takes the maximum and minimum for the whole range rather than individual rows.
I'm wondering if it is possible to do it for multiple rows while the criteria of maximum and minimum applies to individual rows.
how to apply conditional formatting via VBA to a range of cells based on input from another range of cells. Obviously this would be easy in Excel 2010, but I'm still using 2003 at the office and it needs to stay in this format to be readable by other users:
For cells M8:EK8, my conditional formatting condition 2: Formula Is =AND($E$8>=M2,(($E$8-$D$8)>=(N2-$M$2))), color index is 40 condition 3: Formula Is =AND($F$8<=M2,$G$8>=M2), color index is 39 I want to add: condition 4: Formula Is =AND($H$8<=M2,$I$8>=M2), color index is 40 condition 5: Formula Is =AND($J$8<=M2,$K$8>=M2), color index is 39 and so on
The cells in the range M8:EK8 are blank, they only get colored based on input added to D8 to K8. If there is no input, then the cells should be uncolored.
I'm using Excel 2007. I would prefer to stay away from the scripting side of the house if possible. This is basically a 3 day forcast weather chart. The top is the actual weather data, the bottom portion is a color coded reflection of how the weather affects various things.
This product is created in excel, but will be embedded into a powerpoint. It will be updated daily. Here is what I would like. I want the color chart at the bottom to update automatically based on the data I enter above. I have a grasp that I can update the color through conditional formatting, although im not exactly sure what that will look like with all of those cells.
I also figured out that I can insert the letters in those lower cells with something similar to " =IF(C6>90, "T", "") " which would put in a 'T' for Temperature when the temperature got above a certain degree.
I run into a problem when I have multiple factors affecting a single cell. For instance on the example in day 2 of my image. Personnel are affected by Temperate AND UV Index. How would I set up that cell to pull that information from both of those cells and display it accordingly? I would prefer the letters to stay separated by the comma, but I could live without that. The default cell color will be green, with the potential to be yellow or red. I left a few examples of possible situations on day 2 and 3.
I am trying to work with conditional formatting to turn a field a specific color based on two conditions, one of which is variable. The first condition is a list of ongoing events (which can change) and the second condition is a set of known milestones. I want to create a control (check boxes?) that will turn a given field (which has dates in it from another calculation) to either Red, Yellow, or Green.
I was thinking two Dropdown boxes - one for the events and one for the milestones. The user would choose an event, choose the milestone, then choose a checkbox or something to change the color of a field elsewhere in the spreadsheet. Right now, I'm doing this in a very clumsy way by having three checkboxes for each milestone for each event. There are five milestones per event (so 15 checkboxes per event on Sheet2). I will likely have 70+ events so I was hoping for a better way to do this. I've done this for the first three events and need a more efficient way of doing this.
