View 6 RepliesI've set up an email to be sent via a macro (excel 2007 and outlook) and I expanded the body of the message and it now comes up with an error "Compile error: invalid outside procedure"
It was working when I only had 4 lines and now it's not working.
strbody = "Hi," & vbNewLine &_
"abc." & vbNewLine &_
"def." & vbNewLine & vbNewLine & _
"ghi" & InputBox("Enter Response date (dd/mm/yyyy)") & vbNewLine & vbNewLine & _
"jlk." & vbNewLine & vbNewLine & _

I have built the following macro by but get the message 'For without Next' indicated on the End Sub line. I can't seem to figure out what the problem is using 'Help', any ideas on why this is tripping out?
View 9 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to have a cell when selected create an auto-generated email message to a recipient in column A with information taken from other columns inserted into the email. I understand it may be a bit vague at this moment, but I'm just wondering if this would be an alley to investigate further or not.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having trouble with copy-paste-from-outlook-to-excel routine. Is there a way where I can get a certain text (or numbers, perhaps) from an outlook email message and transfer it to an excel? It is fine to copy and paste one or a hundred emails, but it already exceeds 30 thousand email messages. I just wanted to know is there is a way for me to simplify my work through VBA.
Here is a sample of the email body:
"The lead with phone number 1231234567 is in the federal DNC list and has been rejected. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. This email was automatically generated, please do not reply to it."
In this email body, i wanted to get only the number 1231234567 and paste it in the excel.
I did this 10 years ago so I admit I am rusty at this but here are what I had in my notes that worked with Excel XP. I am currently using Excel 2010
With ThisWorkbook
.HasRoutingSlip = True
With .RoutingSlip
[Code]....
The last line will send the workbook but I need a Subject and Message to go with it.
I'm using 2003 (I know!) version & I can't open excel files directly by clicking on them. I get an "error in sending command" message. I can circumvent problem by opening Excel & then opening the relevant file, but this sometimes causes me problems.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've got a file that works fine on my computer. When I email it to anyone with 2010 and they open it from their email account (Outlook 2010), the file automatically opens up in 'Protected Mode'. If the user selects "Enable Editing" the user receives 'Run Time error 91: Object variable or with block variable not set'.
If the user closes out the vba error and saves the file to their computer and reopens the file, it works fine.
BTW, it is not a complex macro, it is error out at
ActiveWorkbook.Sheets("Worksheet").Select
I just cant get this working, and I cannot see why....
I try to set the image address like this:
(With an extra space after)
I have a VBA excel file that pulls data from a CSV file downloaded from a link. I format this data into a table through excel and then copy it over to Outlook. This is where the problem is. I get a runtime error 4065 for "file is locked for editing".
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been using a macro successfully for the last couple of years, but this morning when I went to use it, it decided to fail. I have a workbook which contains various spreadsheets. The macro that has failed performs the following tasks:
1. It copies a list of email addresss from an external workbook to a sheet in the current workbook (still works)
2. It copies the referral sheet I want to send to a new file, and saves it with an appropriate filename to an appropriate folder (still works)
3. The macro then creates an email with a standard subject line, attaches the new worksheet and emails it to each of the addresses as above (broken)
The error message is from Microsoft Visual Basic. "Run-time error '1004': Mail system failure. Check your mail installation."
I'm guessing there is a setting somewhere in Excel that has changed as part of an update.
I've been through a number of the options in the developer menu to remove any obvious restrictions (& reopened excel afterwards), but so far it hasn't resolved the problem.
For what it's worth, here is the macro code.
With Application
.EnableEvents = False
.ScreenUpdating = False
End With
Run "PullInSheet1"
Dim oldbook As String
[Code] .......
In case you're wondering about the pullinsheet code, I'll add it below - but I probably grabbed it from this forum a couple of years ago (like some of the above) & just made some changes.
Code:
Sub PullInSheet1()
Dim AreaAddress As String
'''''' Sheet11.UsedRange.Clear
Dim ClRange As String
ClRange = "= 'L:ADMINEMPLOY SERVICES" _
[Code] ........
There are a couple of things I've wanted to do to improve the macro, but I couldn't justify the need to spend time working it out (since writing spreadsheets isn't really my job). Since it's broken at the moment, I can...
1. I'd like to create a subject line that reflects the name of the person being referred. For some reason though, anything other than text in the cell reference caused an error for me. eg, I tried using concatenate to create my subject line, but it didn't work.
2. I'd like the copied sheet to contain all of the formatting of the original sheet. Presumably there is a paste option that will do this and I just picked the wrong one.
The mailsystem we use is Groupwise 8. I couldn't find any settings in that program that have been changed, or that I could change.
I should change the extension from xls to xlsx in the code since I'm using Excel 2010 (but changing it doesn't fix the problem).
I am looking for a more efficient way to write a macro (a sample from the macro is below). This is just the first part of the macro. I need to repeat these same steps (seen for row 5 below) for rows 5 to 50. My script worked until I hit row 35 and then I got the "compile error.." message. There must be a way to use "loop" to write this more efficiently, no?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have a macro that sends a worksheet via email [Outlook] to a list of recipients.
Everytime an email is created, outlook pops up a confirmation window and waits for user input "yes".
Can I set up vba or outlook to skip that step?
I really want to create a macro with a loop to go through a list of files, execute a macro in each one, save the files and send emails to various people. This process will create about 40 emails and I don'd want the admin person to have to sit there and confirm each message going out.
I am trying to fill out my yahoo email's 'Compose email' Form using VBA. I have a workbook with a list of email addresses and text messages to be send. I am primarily using getElementsByTagName(), and able to open a new yahoo page, log in, create a new email, populate the addressfields,and subject field.
However, I am not able to write anything in the message editor ( the part where we write the actual message). The following is a part of the HTML code related to the message editor. Please suggest what I should do?
I am using Excel 2010. I have been given a task at work that can save my team a lot of time if I can solve the problem. Every month, we have a spreadsheet with about 5000 rows that we have to email. In each row, there is a range that we have to email to a specific email. For example, I would have to copy and paste Range A2-R2 in the body of the email, and then email it to whatever email is in cell S2. I would then continue this for the next 5000 lines, making it a possibility that i will be sending 5000 emails manually.
I have been trying to come up with a solution through VBA that would automatically send these emails. My goal is to automatically send the Range A2-R2 to outlook email, then cell S2 into the "To" email address box, and then automatically send it. So far, i have successfully been able to send one row, but cannot figure out how to loop it for the remainder of the rows.
A couple other key points are that I have column headings as well (Range A1-R1). If possible, I want to be able to include the column headings in the email body as well. Example - first email would be range A1-R2. second email would be range A1-R1 and A3-R3, and so forth. The body of the email would also contain a standard script, such as "Please review the information below."
The goal here is to save everyone from having to send 5000+ manual emails. This would be a big boost for my team.
Code:
Sub Email()
Dim rng As Range
Dim OutApp As Object
[Code].....
My task here is to generate email automatically. When i enter x to run the sub findvalue macro.
Any cells on the column D that has the value of 10 should generate email with the message body, subject and email address automatically.
Example if there are 3 task that are 10 days to deadline, 3 email will be generated after entering "x"
I have edited the Sendmail sub to locate the email's body, subject line and email from the excel.
Code:
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
If Target.Cells.Count > 1 Then Exit Sub
If Target = "x" Then
If Not Intersect(Target, Target.Worksheet.Range("G2")) Is Nothing Then
Call Findvalue
End If
End If
End Sub
Code:
Sub Findvalue()
Dim Rng1 As Range
Dim foundemail As Range
Dim a As Variant
Set Rng1 = Range("D2:D10")
For Each a In Rng1
If a.Value = 10 Then
Set foundemail = Sheets("Email").Range("A:A").Find(What:=Cells(Target.Row, 1), _

We know that professional emails have a fixed format. I have a list of people with their names and emails and there are some people for which emails are missing. I am pasting my sample data below. But first let me explain the meaning of columns.
Column A: Means full name of the person for which we have email id
Column B & C: just split of Available full name into first name and last name
Column D: Email id of the person with full name in column A
Column E: For the names in this column, we need to get email ids
Column H: Sample result
Now basis on the Full Name(Column A) and Email Id(Column D) can we get the email id for person in Column E.

A
B
C
D
E
F
G
H

Available Full Name
Available FirstName
Available LastName
Email for available full name
Actual Full name
Actual firstname
Actual lastname

For some reason my form won't open when the workbook is opened. I get an error message "run time error '424' object required" (which happens when I have Form1.show in the BOTH workbook_open event and the userform_initialize event (oops)). When I removed form1.show from the userform_initialize I don't get an error but I also get no form. I recall having this issue before but I can't recall how to fix it.
Can I call the userform_initialize event from the workbook open event to get around this successfully and properly?
I do hit the SCE (Shift-CTRL-Enter) keys. The formula does work in one workbook, but not the other. The only difference between the two workbooks is this formula has a larger range.
New Formula- doesn't work (ERROR- #DIV/0!)
{=AVERAGE(IF(Sheet1!A3:A1094="MONDAY",Sheet1!E3:E1094))}
Old Formula- works
{=AVERAGE(IF(B6:B451="MONDAY",E6:E451))}
When I input the formula : =(G9+G16+G23+G30+G37+G44+G51+G58+G65+G72+G79+G86+G93+G100+G107+G114+G121)/17
I get the error message #VALUE!
I have one line of code that I need an error message for:
View 2 Replies View RelatedI get spreadsheets sent to me with hours and minutes in decimal format. Frequently a quarter of an hour or three quarters of an hour are posted as 0.15 or 0.45 instead of 0.25 and 0.75. Other odd fractions can also appear.
I want an error message if the value when divisible by 0.25 is not a whole number.
I am trying to run the macro and I get this error:
Compile Error! Sub or Function not defined
for the following
RFQnum = VLookup("RFQ Number", CPARSdata, 2, False) 'RFQ# should be same for each supplier
CPARSdata is a named ranged with 25 columns and 338 rows
I would like to get some information when a vba code is in error.
Can we create a sub that we can refer to when a vba code is in error. Something as:
On Error goto "name of the sub"
In that sub, I would like to write in sheet1 , cell a1 the name of the sub in which the code is in error.
In cell a2, i would like to write the line in error in the VBA code.
finaly i would like to show a msgbox ("Contact your admin")
and then close the file
I am getting the error message
"Compile Error: End If without block If" for the code below :
ErrorHandlerRoutine:
If MyInteger = 1 Then
MsgBox "Data does not exist in the CO2 data set"
End If
Resume 1
If MyInteger = 2 Then
MsgBox "Data does not exist in the Water data set"
End If
Resume 2
If MyInteger = 3 Then GoTo 3
MsgBox "Data does not exist in the Waste data set"
End If
Resume 3
I need an error message to pop up if 3 cells contain the same data
The range of these cells would be G19 to G49
Ideally the error message would say "Rules Broken"
Also if possible could the same message be shown if the value of cell J52 exceeds 50,000000
I wanted to make a pop up alert message appear whenever the formula in a cell gives a particular output.
Before posting this i tried looking for similar posts before, but the ones found do not solve my problem. There it asks me to write the following code in VBA,
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
Dim MyRange As String
MyRange = "A1"
If Me.Range(MyRange).Value = "Have Meeting" Then
MsgBox "Have Meeting"
End If
End Sub
But my doing so, I can not use any formula in the cell A1 or any other cell i give reference as MyRange. I will always have to physically type "Have Meeting" or any other word assigned in the above.
I am writing some code to do a comparison between two cells X2 or AB2 with an X which checks to:
1. make sure one of the two are filled, or
2. both are not filled.
Below is an extract of the spreadsheet I am working on. I need to check to make sure one of the boxes is checked. If both are empty or both filled with an ("X"), I want a message box to tell me to correct the error and stop the macro from continuing. If only one is marked with an ("X"), I want the macro to continue but don't know how.

Data!$A$2:$A$47 is a date
G$2 is a date within the context
Data!$B$2:$B$47 is a unit number
G$4 is a unit number within the context
Data!$A$1:$N$1 are descriptive titles
$B21 is a decriptive string within the same context (copy paste)
Data!$A$2:$N$47 are to be summed is all criteria are met.
I have a vba code that I wrote out to search for a file and update data on a spreadsheet with the new file... however I've come to a point where I'm not sure of what code to use. If I search for a file that is not there I get a runtime error and of course it ask me to end or debug. What I would like for it to do instead is search for the file and if it is not there... display a message box stating that the file searched for is not found and automatically closes the workbook after OK is pressed.
Here is the code for those who may need it....
