Extract Each Sheet To Text File & Save As Sheet Name .txt`
Jun 9, 2007
provide me a code for extracting data and outputting it into individual worksheets situated within the excel workbook file. I am wondering what the code would be if the data were extracted to individual text files, individual workbooks or *.prn files?
For i = 2 To Cells(Rows.Count, 1).End(xlUp).Row
Set ws = Worksheets.Add(After:=Worksheets(Worksheets.Count))
ws.Name = wsraw.Cells(i, "D")
With ws
.Range("A1") = wsraw.Cells(i, "D")
.Range("A2").Resize(2) = wsraw.Cells(i, "A")
.Range("B2").Resize(2) = wsraw.Cells(i, "B")
.Range("C2") = 0
.Range("C3") = 1000
.Range("A4") = -999
End With

Want to do something *almost* exactly like a previous post but that post is now closed. Extract Each Sheet To Text File & Save as Sheet Name .txt` I want to extract data from individual worksheets from a workbook in excel to individual text files with the **same name as the original excel file** plus incrementing suffix.
Example: File_Name.xls with worksheets: Sheet1, Sheet2, Sheet3
==> Result...... File_Name_01.txt, File_Name_02.txt, File_Name_03.txt
don't delete - this is not a duplicate post. Previous code 1) creates text files with "sheet name" as was the original post's intent (not "file name") and 2) it does not iterate through each sheet (only processes Sheet1 regardless of selected sheet in the workbook)
Sub wsToText()......................

The code below looks at file names in column A and then goes to a folder and opens and copies the data in range c2 -lastrow from each file and pastes the data into sheet2.
how I could add to the code so that it also inserts the file name in column c?
It would make it easier to track the data in column B.
VB:
Sub CopyFromFile()
Dim fPath As String
Dim lRow As Long
[Code].....
I have attached a sample workbook. The list of file name is in sheet 1. An example of the output is in sheet 2. The data in column A is dummy data generally spans 100's of rows not just 10 as in the example.
The purpose of the code is to be able to put a list of file names in column a in sheet 1 and extract data from those files in a folder. The data extraction works fine. The reson for adding the file names is so that I know what file the data came from.

I have a Workbook that already has a macro in it that will generate multiple sheets based on certain criteria.
For each of these newly generated sheets (numbered 1-6 in the attached example), I need to be able save each of them to a PDF file based on a unique name contained in a certain cell (in this case, each named is referenced in cell Q1 of each sheet). As such, I should end up with 6 pdfs based on the attached sample files.
The PDFs would ideally need to be landscaped and should be just 1 page per sheet.
In my attached sample workbook, you'll notice that I have a "PracticePrint" macro that doesn't quite get the job done. One other criteria involves not printing any sheet with the characters "1010" in it (my PracticePrint macro is setup to do that, but it fails to do much else).

I have excel file which has got 3 sheets.
I renamed the 3rd sheet as "Audit Sheet"
I want a macro to save only this sheet3 "Audit Sheet" as a new file in "my documents folder" but the name of the file should be as follows
The sheet3 has this values..
Cell B1 has value " George"
Cell D1 has the value "Week 1"
The name of the file should take value enterd in B1 ( that is George) and value in D1 ( Week 1") so the file name should be "George Week 1".

My company use a program called Bartender which is a barcode printing program. Bartender has the ability to extract information from an Excel sheet which is really useful and prevents repetetive keying in of information. We have found that if you simply print the Excel sheet when Bartender next uses the file it says it is corrupt and simply copying the data into a new spreadsheet and resaving it as the same name does not resolve this issue.

I have six sheets in the work book, but one of them spills on to more than one sheet. If i print it or use print preview it displays all the sheets but when converting to pdf with below code only one sheets worth appears, then it displays the next sheet in the workbook, how to amend this so that if it spills over it all converts to pdf
The worksheet in question has 2,000 plus rows, and depending on what the end user selects, it can contain anything between 15 and 300 of those rows (it is a picking list). i currently have it set so that it prints to paper with five different sections for various product types and a summary page, each section has a named range and i have assigned macros to buttons such as immediately below.

I've been working on this problem on and off for a number of months now and have just about got it sussed so thought I'd share it with you as it has mostly been down to postings on this board that I've got it in the end.
Thanks especially to 'biggoan' for his post: http://www.mrexcel.com/board2/viewto...136&highlight=
Anyway, this seems to avoid the need for a class module but does need you to install the Acrobat Distiller object references in Tools...References in the VBA editor.
You also need to go into the printer properties of the your Adobe PDF 'Printer' and under Printing Preferences...Adobe PDF Settings deselect the Do not send fonts to "Adobe PDF" option. Why, who knows!
Private Sub Create_PDF()
'Created by Dom Hill with considerable asistance from Biggoan and Mr Excel
Dim tempPDFFileName As String
Dim tempPSFileName As String
Dim tempPDFRawFileName As String
Dim tempLogFileName As String
Sheets("Sales Data").Activate
tempPDFRawFileName = "C:" & Range("A1").Value
'Define the postscript and .pdf file names.
tempPSFileName = tempPDFRawFileName & ".ps"
tempPDFFileName = tempPDFRawFileName & ".pdf"
tempLogFileName = tempPDFRawFileName & ".log"
' Print the Excel range to the postscript file
ActiveSheet.PrintOut Copies:=1, preview:=False, ActivePrinter:="Adobe PDF", printtofile:=True, Collate:=True, prtofilename:=tempPSFileName
'Create PDF File
Dim myPDFDist As New PdfDistiller
myPDFDist.FileToPDF tempPSFileName, tempPDFFileName, tempShowWindow
'Delete PS File
Kill tempPSFileName
Kill tempLogFileName
End Sub
Not sure why the macro creates a log file but if you know more about VBA then you probably would.

I have an excel file which I use when I book keep journals in work. Each time I come across a new piece of bookkeeping I add to the file, name the sheet and index it. (I've attached a loose example for illustration) so the bookkeeping template.xls gets bigger every day.
Currently, when I book keep on a particular day, I open the template.xls workbook;
draft my journals;
and then manually copy the worksheets I have completed during the day from the template.xls workbook and paste the sheets into a new book and save the days bookkeeping as the current date.
With the file I have attached can someone show me how to write a macro and apply it to each of the buttons on the various work sheet tabs (each button will run the same macro).
Upon clicking a button, I would like the macro to;
Copy the active sheet into a new book and save the file as the current date.
Each subsequent click of a button the macro will check if the .xls file exists for the current date, if it does, then it will just copy the active worksheet to the file that has already been created.
In the new file which is saved as the current date, I need to remove the macro button and the hyperlink that reads back to index.
I have had some helpful macro's provided from another forum, however, the other forum does not appear to enable users to upload files, so I can't quite convey what it is I am trying to achieve.

I work for one half of a joint venture & am responsible for planning & expediting. The other half does purchasing. The bi-weekly PO download reports I receive are less than useful. I have already written the code to delete undesired sheets & add, format, and enter headers for a "Summary" sheet.
I need code to move to the next row, and run formulas to pull data from the next sheets, and repeat until there are no more sheets.
The number of sheets will vary from one download to the next, and the sheet names will vary from one download to the next.
Following are example formulas that need to be run on successive rows while pulling from successive sheets.
I am running Excel 2013 on Windows 8.1

I want to do a loop where you can copy say A3 worksheet 1 then add another sheet naming the work sheet "A3" then copying A3 worksheet 1 to A1 "A3". After that looping to A4 to a new work sheet naming the work sheet "A4"copying the value to A1 "A4", etc...
Is there a simply way of doing this loop? I can probably fit my other coding into the structure.

I have a built a catalogue of records for various of my companies assets. Each asset has its own sheet in a work book and I have used a vb macro to include an automatic Index sheet at the front of the book. This takes the names of the various tabs, in the order I have them in the workbook and creates a simple listing in column A as an Index List
What I want to do is to build a summary table to the right of the Index List, pulling in a few of the key data points about the assets into a single table.
To do that I need to be able to extract the text string from the Index List and use it to form part of a cell reference pointing to a specific cell in the relevant individual Asset sheets.

I am trying to read data from an excel sheet and writing the data in a plain text file. To keep with the text file specifications, I have to write the data with two decimal places. Suppose that in A1 I have 12. In the text file, I have to write this value as 12.00. Similarly, if the value is 12.1, I have to write it as 12.10.
I tried to trick with VBA. Round, but no chance. Here is my code (assume that I am reading cont_weight from A1, and the value is 12):
Print #FileNum, Space(3) & VBA.Round(cont_weight, 2)
The text output is only 12. It *must* be 12.00, or else nothing will work.

have a basic knowledge of VBA. The task I am trying to perform with VBA is to
1. Copy from sheet1 A1 to sheet2 E9
2. Copy from sheet1 B1 to sheet2 E11
3. Save sheet2 in a new workbook file with the file name cell data from sheet1 A1 (511894.xls)
4. Copy from sheet1 A2 to sheet2 E9
5. Copy from sheet1 B2 to sheet2 E11
6. Save sheet2 in a new workbook file with the file name cell data from sheet1 A2 (097219.xls)
7. Repeat the process down columns A and B to the end of the columns.
8. Columns A and B will end at the same time but the data and the last cell will change with each scan added to the columns.
This code will accomplish this task with a single column of data but not two columns. Also column B will have a mixture of numbers and letters in its cells, Column A is only numbers.
VB:
Sub MoveData()
sName = "temp"
Const csPath As String = "C:Documents and SettingsmcgaulcDesktopTestFile"
'MyName = ActiveWorkbook.Name
[Code].....
Here are some images of the data sheet and the saved sheet

I have one table in word format and a sheet in excel:
word table:
Part # ID
1001 C1,C5
1002 C2~C4,C6-C7
1004 A10
excel sheet :
ID Color part #
C3 white
C1 blue 1001
C2 red
A10 black
C4 red
C5 greed 1001
C6 grey
C7 pink
I need to write a script which will take an id in excel sheet , then look up the part number in word table , copy the part number into excel sheet. So the sheet will look like this:
ID Color part #
C3 white 1002
C1 blue 1001
C2 red 1002
A10 black 1004
C4 red 1002
C5 greed 1001
C6 grey 1002
C7 pink 1002
at the end, I need to export the sheet as text file with tab as delimiter
Is this possible using VBA?

I have some quality information that is stored in a single .txt format. All the information for several different parts are stored in the same file "merge__chr.txt I then have a single excel file for each different part. I need to be able to use a macro to extract the data from the txt file and fill in the excel file based on 3 criteria.
Part #
Serial #
Characteristic #
The part # is always in cell "B4" of the excel file, and the first column of the .txt file The Serial # is variable, but will always be in column B (starting at row 11 and down) of the excel file, and the second column of the .txt file The Characteristic # will always be in row #7 (starting at column D and right) of the excel file, and is in the 3rd column of the .txt file.
I need this to copy the information from the 6th column of the .txt file and store it in the cell where the characteristic and serial # meet. I only need to be able to do this for 1 serial # at a time. When the current serial # is selected, I would like to use a button to fill in all the information for all Characteristics of that part. I attached a sample set of data with "QA-PRINT" as the Part #.

I have a folder with multiple text files. I want to import one of these files to a sheet called data in an existing Excel file. The excel file has references to this data sheet on other sheets which I want to keep. I want to save this excel file with the name the text file has and repeat this for all the text files in the folder.
I found a macro a while back which does the job nicely of importing and saving the Excel file, however all the data in the other sheets gets lost once it is saved. How to keep the data?
Code:
Sub tgr()
Const txtFldrPath As String = "FOLDER WITH TEXT FILES" 'Change to folder path containing text files
Const xlsFldrPath As String = "FOLDER FOR EXCEL FILES" 'Change to folder path excel files will be saved to
Dim CurrentFile As String: CurrentFile = Dir(txtFldrPath & "" & "*.txt")
Dim strLine() As String
Dim LineIndex As Long

I have a variable list. Each column will be 250 digits and numbers of rows will be variable. I want a macro to import a text file from a specific folder into a sheet without split it to columns. So we will work only in column A
Then macro will find B1002 wording in A1. if it is exist, it will copy the next 36 digits after B1002 wording if not then it will search A2 row. The next step will be to search and find another wording "B1001" if it finds it will replace copied 36 digits text. If it can not find B1001 wording it will go to upper row and search B1001 wording here and paste the text. This will go on till row shows #END. This means it reached the end of the list. And then macro will save this file as text file to another folder.
So macro will go to beginning to open other file in the folder and this will go on till last file in the folder.
This is the logic of the macro. Here is the sample of what I want.

update code based on a dynamic range of cells, which worked! I want to drop a csv file into one sheet, and copy the data to another sheet. However, if I drop a new csv file in, and there are fewer rows, the old rows aren't deleted. For example, if my first set of data had 10 rows, and the new has 8, the extra two rows are still there.

.Range("H11", .Range("H" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp)).Copy ActiveSheet.Range("E12")

How to save a file, with file- name. but the directory is to be read in worksheet "towns" in Cell1 (brussels) and filename in worksheet "names" in cell B2 (i.e. winter), so it saves to c:russelswinter.txt as a wordpad or kladblok txt file, that keeps a number, so each time we push a button "go back from worksheet names to worksheet towns" the "number" that is saved in the txt document goes up by value +1. In Flemisch, the "old" code goes as follows, and saves the number in the txt file Factuurnummer7.txt. But I want that the file name (here: FactuurNummer7) can be a variable text issue, which has to be read - as already noticed - in cell B2 (with the word WINTER).
