Find Macro To Delete Rows: 3 Questions
Jun 4, 2007
I have a worksheet that is several thousand rows long. It is sectioned into various "topics" (e.g. Revenue, Profit); each topic (there are about 100) has 10 companies. The 10 companies are the same for each topic. For instance, if 2 of the companies are Microsoft and Intel, then there will be a Microsoft row and an Intel row within each topic.
I am trying to write some code to delete every instance of a company (the user indicates the company in a form). So, for instance, if I want to delete Microsoft, the user would enter the stock ticker, MSFT, into the form and press the appropriate command button. When the command button is pressed, the code should find each row that contains the ticker MSFT (the tickers happen to be in column B) and delete it.
I have written the following unsuccessful
Private Sub CommandButton1_Click()
Dim Ticker As String
Ticker = TextBox1.Value
'If IsText(Ticker) Then
Range("$A$5").Select
Cells.Find(What:=Ticker, After:=ActiveCell, LookIn:=xlFormulas, _
LookAt:=xlPart, SearchOrder:=xlByRows, SearchDirection:=xlNext, _
MatchCase:=True, SearchFormat:=False).Activate..........

I am not the best at this, but we recorded a macro and we want to delete whole rows after we 'control' find something from a specific column. WHen we recorded our macro, it finds the first instance and we hightlight the whole row and 'control' 'shift' 'end' and delete all of the rows. We did this because we sorted and made sure the information we wanted to delete was at the bottom of the worksheet. we realized that each day the spreadsheet we pull from an ip address gets bigger and the row that we started from to delete starts on a different row each day. How do we get all the information to delete everyday, even when the row that Owned starts on changes? ...

Basically i have a column which runs like this:
Company Name:
Name1
Name1
Name1
BLANK
BLANK
BLANK
Name1
BLANK
Name1
Basically, what I am after doing is getting a script to look through that column and delete any rows that do not have "Name1" in Column A.
So far, i've sorted the column so all the blank cells appear at the top, and the "Name1" cells appear at the bottom. Now what I was going to do was use a loop, and I got as far as this before becoming confused .....

I have searched high and low for a more efficient macro than the current loop i have. I have a range that varies in size but always follows the same format. After i reach a certain value output from a formula, "4", I want to delete all lines below that line. So I want to find value "4" then move one row down and delete all lines to line 2004. I have attached the macro that i compiled but it takes a couple of minutes to run.

I have a report that comes in a txt file. After importing into excel i am left with a bunch of garbage that i dont need. This report is anywhere from 5-15 pages depending on how much product was made that shift. I only need the information off of the 1st page. My question is how can i Find the first occurance of specific text (Site) (will be in column A) and have it select that row and all rows below and delete them.
My biggest issue is the first page can be anywhere from 40-60 rows so I need to find the text (Site) and delete everything below it, which could be anywhere from 500-1500 rows.

I am trying to select all the data in every row below where the first "flat" entry in the worksheet is but it will only go to the bottom of the data in the column where it finds flat. Some data in other columns extends beyond this so it is not working for me. It would work for me to select everything from where it finds flat to the very last row 65536 but I can't figure out how to do that with what I have. I am then deleting all this data.
Cells.Find(What:="flat", After:=ActiveCell, LookIn:=xlFormulas, LookAt _
:=xlPart, SearchOrder:=xlByRows, SearchDirection:=xlNext, MatchCase:= _
False, SearchFormat:=False).Activate
ActiveCell.EntireRow.Select
range(Selection, Selection.End(xlDown)).Select
range(Selection, Selection.End(xlDown)).Select
range(Selection, Selection.End(xlDown)).Select

I have a large report that I pull each month listing which products we sold last month. There are certain products I don't want included in the report. Until I can have the report re-written, I'm looking for a macro or a function that will find all the rows that contain these product numbers in column M and delete the entire row. The product numbers I need to delete are always the same, but some months one or more of them might not be in the report if they weren't sold.
In Summary:
Find in column M the product numbers:
c1000
316140a
316140
316295a
316295
316311a
316311
316451a
316451
316450a
316450
316452a
316452
Delete those rows containing the product numbers above

1) Highlight column A, and do a search on the word "Item"
2) Once it finds the word item, move 2 rows above it, and delete all rows above the word "Item"
The word Item at times can be on any row, and its very random, but its always in column, A. I tried doing it with a regular macro, but it seems to remember the row that I used, rather than two rows above the word "Item".

I need a macro that can look at multiple (say three) rows and delete those rows if they match another three rows in the worksheet.
For example:
1 0
3 1
5 7
4 4
6 5
8 3
1 8
5 2
3 9
6 5
8 3
1 8
7 5
If three rows are the same, then one set is deleted (it can be either bottom or top set). I would like to do this for rows 1-500 in the worksheet.

I am trying to rank questions within a survey with excel calculations and not VBA. The rank would take place for each individual section and would provide the top three right questions and top three wrong questions. The example below explains the ranking.
Brief facts:
Each survey has up to 30 sections.
Each section has up to 150 questions.
Each question has none or no limt of sub-questions.(usually between 1 and 20, weekly changes require this number to change)
The section's number of questions change weekly with updates.
This week section 2 begins with #12, next week begins with #16 because more questions were added to section 1.
There are three possible choices to answer a question (yes, no, or n/a.)
Sub-questions are checkboxes of explanations on why the question could be answered wrong.
Each question may have 0-10 points assigned.
Each sub-question may have 0-10 points assigned.
When a question is answered "no" is when a sub-question may be checked to help explain why.
A question with sub-questions may only be assigned points at the sub-question level. The sub-questions have the points and do not sum up to total the question value.
When a question is answered "no" and a sub-question is checked, the points received are 0 points for that sub-question. Unchecked sub-questions receive the full amount of points.
When a question is answered "yes" all points are received.
The Rank:
The rank would take place for each individual section and would provide the top three right questions and top three wrong questions at the question level. My example below has more than three to help explain further.
Select the highest actual score of question or sub-question. Start with 10 points to 0 points.
When a match is found that becomes the first "correct" question rank. #17 is 1 since 17.1 had an 8 point sub-question.
When there is a tie #14,15,18, the tie breaker is the sum of correct sub-questions added to the question score. #14 = 7 points.
The second sort is the # in ascending order #15 and then 18.
The hardest part of the rank is the flexibility of a changing survey with question/sub-question deletions and additions in each section. ...

I have tried to record this but I cannot get it to work? On the tab “Add & Delete” cell “L17” I have a drop down list that is a list of the policy numbers from the “Data” tab.
What I am trying to do is assign a macro that searches column “J” on the “Data” tab based on the “L17” content on the Tab “Add & Delete” when it finds the data it then clears the contents of that entire row.

See attached doc "Find and Delete.xlsx". Inside, the value in F12 is a very important cell. Using the text value from F12, I first want to use visual basic code to find the range in column B because it will vary. This means the 'text words' column might have 50 words or it might have 2000. I have racked my brain trying to find a universal way to find a variable range.
Then I would like to search for the exact text value within this range in column
B. For example, in F12 is the text word 'windows xp registry cleaner' and you can see that this value is in B9. There will only be one exact match in column B.
I then would like the vb script to delete and remove this found value, then move left one space in column A to also delete the ID number associated with the text word. Then shift both rows up to fill the empty gap. I have tried numerous different codes but to be honest, I'm not really sure what I'm looking for. I've tinkered with find and replace, vlookup, match, find, search, and many more.

I have an excel file, where there is a section "Additional Requirements". This section is repeated like 20-25 times in the sheet and has a group of merged cells below it to enter data as shown in the picture. Issue is that majority of these "Additional Requirements" are not filled by the user. Hence maybe only 3 or 4 are filled and I have to manually delete the rest. I tried the code below, but it doesn't do anything.Running the macro just jumps the cells slowly downwards the sheet. Maybe if the macro runs 10-15 times it reads the whole code and then moves on to the next row.8-1-2014 12-43-27 PM.png What I'm trying to achieve is:
1. for the macro to find "Additional Requirements"
2. Then check the Merged cell below it (thus the offset)
3. If this cell is blank, select this cell and the cell containing "Additional Requirements"
4. Delete entire rows of these cells/delete the selection (entirerow.delete). (I read somewhere to set a variable as selection and clear it, hence ive included in the unreadable code. This wasn't working either)
