View 9 RepliesI'm trying to force a user to enter a numeric value, (one numeric value between 0 and 8, inclusive) into a range of cells, prior to exiting the spreadsheet.
The range would be D7:D252, and a single value would have to be entered into each range prior to exiting the spreadsheet.
I have a series of Userforms that I would like the user to be forced to enter in some sort of information in one of those userform in the series. I do not want it to be submitted blank. Is there a code or a properties toggle to make this possible.
Code:
Private Sub CommandButton1_Click()
Application.ScreenUpdating = False
Sheets("MDF").Select
Range("RailcarNumber").Value = TextBox1.Value
[Code] .......
I have a series of input boxes and in one particular input box ("TypeScore") if the lower case is entered I want to convert it to upper case. Here is a small snippet of the series of input boxes. I have tried just about every suggestion I can find on this forum, but can't get it to work.
View 9 Replies View RelatedThe code below first asks a user to input a weekending date (which must be a Saturday). The value of the input box goes to cell C1 of my spreadsheet. That part works fine. I also have a function in Cell G1 with the function:
=TEXT(C1, "dddd")
I don't know if this is the best way to test for a Saturday but it is what I have,
Where is goes bad is if the date is not a Saturday. I have a loop to force a new date install via a input box but it won't update C1 with the inputed data to recheck for the Saturday value. Below is the whole code I am working with...
Dim aa As String
Dim bb As String
If Range("C1") = "" Then
Do While bb = ""
bb = InputBox("Please Enter a Weekending Date!")
Loop
Range("C1").Value = bb
End If
If Range("G1") "Saturday" Then
Do While aa "Saturday"
aa = InputBox("Weekending Must Be a Saturday. Please Enter a New Weekending Date")
Loop
Range("C1").Value = aa
End If
I have an excel sheet that has two text fields "A2" 2 digit (Month) and "B2" 2 digit (Day of week), both are currenlty in a text format. I need to force the users of this sheet to enter values in both of these fields prior to saving. Is there a simple macro that I can run to check these fields.

When one creates multiple UserForms with multiple (identical) TextBoxes, every control must have its own event handler procedures. All these TextBoxes in my workbook are to capture numeric data to populate various cells in the workbook.
Would you recommend using a Class Module to handle these events for TextBox controls, rather than having to repeat the event handler code for each control?
And if so, do you have some code that I can use that will cover most of the events and potential error handling routines for numeric input data?
I am trying to do is extract the volume size of products in 'ml'
from 10k plus products from a description field cell.
this description field could also contain the weight of the product in grams
so I cannot just do a search for a numeric string ,
it has to be associated with the milli-litres statement .
is is possible to do a sort of ' *ml ' search and then select and copy to another cell ???
I have a column of several thousand entries listed as numeric with a scientific symbol eg.
1.4mSv
19.53mSv/1mSv (some have a mix and or alpha/numeric range)
I want to convert them to the numeric value only. I'm extracting to a chart which is not recognising the alpha and throwing the data out. I tried find and replace, trying various options within the 'replace format' tab with no joy.
I have a few thousand products codes (i.e ABCD123BLA08 or SHU267BLA) They are non standardised in length or structure. I wish to pull out everything upto the end of the third numeric digit.( ie ABCD123 and SHU267) I cannot use left as they are all different lengths. Ideally i would serach for a non numeric char after the number then use left up to that point. Search can't do this, FIND can't do this.
Summary
ABCD123BLA08 would be ABCD123
SHU246BLU would be SHU246
I147ORT08-12 would be I147
I have a column that has cells with values as
19352510
C084111X AA
24253081
A001290U AA
19599291
48413321
I want to write an If Statement is a column next to each entry that denotes two options either Broker or Agent. Where the code is say 19352510 then Broker and where it is say C084111X AA then Agent.
Broker codes will never contain a letter. The Agent code will always start and finish with a letter.
I have a spreadsheet with 5 columns. A1 to A5
Entries are made into columns A2 to A5 but only ever one entry across all cells
If an entry is made into A2 to A5 the I need a "P" to be placed into A1
I am trying to create a macro which gives me an input box. I need to enter 2 numbers into the input box. It would be as follows:
Input Box Msg 1 - "What is your labor cost?" (NUM1)
Input Box Msg 2 - "What is your productivity rate?" (NUM2)
Then I need the macro to take this info and enter it into a formula which changes according to the row which you are on. (I need the macro to work based on which ever cell I currently have selected). The formula would be this if I currently had a cell on row 10 selected:
=(NUM1*(NUM2*$H10))/$H10
So, if I currently had cell L10 selected, and I ran the macro and put 100 in for "NUM1" and 10 for "NUM2" and my sheet had 20 in cell H10, then the macro would enter the number 1,000 into cell L10. If I had L500 selected, then the macro would enter the final number into cell L500 based on what value H500 contained.
I would like to know if it is possible to transfer values of cells this way?
I've attached the excel file for easier reference.
I have to design an input user form (a button that opens an input box or dialog box), which asks user to "Enter number of "columns"".
User enters a number i.e. 2 or 3 etc
It then asks user for the headings of these coulmns and places first column heading in A1 and second column heading in B1, third in C1 and so on ...
I am just starting to get my feet a little damp with VBA and I am trying to make a macro that will act whenever any text is entered in any cell within a 3x3 square. Whenever any text is entered in any of those cells I would like it to enter a text ( "X" ) in a cell which is specified by a cell in the spreadsheet (this cell will output which cell the macro should write the text in in this format "A:1" or "C:3"). How can I make the program act only in reaction to the user entering thier text, and also, how can I get the macro to read A:1 and enter the text into that specific cell? Any help would be so awesome, the book I have is really difficult to navigate.

If the input changes in D5, K11 will reset to $0.00..
Example. If cell K11 is set to $300.00, and the corresponding input in D5 is '123', when I change the contents of D5 it sets K11 back to '0.00'.
I am in need of VBA code so that I can fill out an input form generated by someone elses macro input box. (I am the user, not the one developing the input box).
I am working to streamline a whole cluster of macros and this input box is currently my bottleneck. When the input box pops up, instead of me manually typing, I want to autofill the space with "104" and then click 'ok' uisng VBA.
I can not modify the actual VBA that created the input box (ie make 104 the default) because other users need the box to be blank.
find out how a developer would change the original vba code, not how a user can interact with an input box by using vba.
I want to create an input box that will allow you to input the column number it should start in... so instead of it being fixed at A, you can choose column B, C, D all the way to the end if you like.

Is it possible to trigger a forced comment if a particular value is entered in a cell?
For instance, if the letter "F" is entered into a cell, I want the comment box is pop up, is this possible?
And lastly... is it possible to automatically group comments? for instance if a row has 6 comments, I'd like to combine all of them into a comment box on the same row.
My spreadsheet is very large & takes sometimes 5 to 10 seconds to recalculate. The problem is that is was wanting to recalc every time I edited a cell, which I do constantly all day long. Due to this, I have turned off automatic recalculation. Is there is a way I can use VBA to force just one cell or just one row to recalculate? Keep in mind that currently no cells recalculate until I hit F9 or go in & manually hit Calculate Sheet in tools > options > calculation.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to force some sort of garbage collect in order to free up memory? I am running some code which takes values from one workbook and pastes them into the control workbook. It currently works when 15 sheets of data are being moved however, my data has just grown to 16 sheets and now the code gives me the not enough resources message. If a garbage collect would solve this issue would I need to also reset any variables I had defined in the code?

I have an Excel sheet which serves as an input form. I would like to set something up where if the user inputs any value into the cell range B12:B100 then they are forced to also enter a value in column J of that same row.
Maybe something could be done where if they enter a value in B12, then they cannot enter a value in B13 before entering a value in cell J12?
I have created a tool in excel to facilitate different requests from our sales force. A drop down list in the first worksheet lists the request types. Once the type is selected the user clicks a command button that sends the user to the corresponding worksheet specific to the request type.
My problem is that I need to verify that the cells on the specific worksheet have all been completed. I tried to verify when saving in the workbook module, but I don't know how to only check the selected request worksheet.
One thought was to insert save command buttons on each worksheet and only allow saving through those buttons. (So I would need to remove any saving functionality from the file menu/toolbar.) Then I could attach the verification code to that button on each worksheet. Preventing saving until the requested data was entered.
If this methodology will work I need to know how to do the following:
1) remove alternative saving methods
2) Once those methods are removed, how do I code a command button to check that specific cells are not null and then "save as".
3) if cells are null then, stop save and show msgbox.
I am working in Excel 2003.
